I grew up on Lake Travis! Our first house was in the Bee Creek area, but we lived in the Hudson Bend area the longest. I can't WAIT to swim in that aquamarine water again!!!
Does your family still have a house there?
Awesome! This sounds horrible, but I have no idea where our lakehouse is. Haha it was my grandparents and we would go there in the summers when I was growing up. Then my aunt and uncle kinda took it over and renovated it quite a bit. Haven't been back there in years. I can definitely find out from my parents where it's located though!
Lake Travis gets pretty rowdy these days... especially with cigar boats and such. I remember the nice, calm peaceful days of just going out on the jet skis and skiing behind the boat. It sure is a nice place to go during the miserable heat of Houston's summers!

I've had a great night tonight :D It all started when I went ice skating for the first time with several friends (I only fell over once), and had a ball! On the way home we went to McDonalds, and I noticed that I didn't recognise a dollar coin I had in my wallet. On closer inspection I realised it was a commemorative coin of Howard Florey - a coin that's never gone into circulation!  :D  (Unsurprisingly, my friends didn't care.) Then, on the way out of McDonalds, I saw a really nice looking car parked outside that resembled a Lamborghini. Then my friend Andrew remarked:
"Hey, look, it's a Lamborghini Gallardo!"
 :blob2: :blob2: :blob2:
What's more:
"Yeah, I've seen a few on the road. I've been in one once. You sit so low to the ground..."
You could've knocked me over with a feather! (After all, it is my favourite car, and I never expected to actually so much as see one in my lifetime...)
(I just thought I'd share that I've often remarked that I'll probably never bother to even apply for my driver's license, lest I be offered a Gallardo for a day upon becoming fully qualified.)

Awww! :wavey: I love dachshunds so much. One day, I will have one. My uncle will only have snausage dogs as pets, and his dog Sammy was the inspiration for the cake - he's very old and they had to have all his teefs pulled, so his tongue will not stay in his head now.
I don't think I've ever seen one with blue eyes before, though.

I have heard that about the snausages, too. But I do work from home, so it should be all right if I ever do get one. I'd planned on getting one when we move into the new house next month, but I may have inherited another dog from my aunt, cos she's useless. The aunt, I mean. Not the dog. :D
The dog rocks! Like, she listens amazingly well, and she's so gentle with the kids. My daughter literally uses her as a pillow all night, and Chloe lets her - she won't get up and make Mimi move. It's so sweet.

Yeah, ours was an ex-racer, too. Some windowlicker had named him Gianni Versace Some-Other-Junk-That-I-Can't-Remember, but since race dogs aren't generally interacted with in a way that they would "know" their names - they are usually in kennels all day long unless they have a race, with not much in the way of human interaction - we renamed him Anubis.
When we got him, N00b did not understand petting or ear scritching. Or stairs. Or toys. Or dog treats. Or sliding glass doors. Had to put stickers on my sliding glass door at eye-level for him so he'd stop running into it face first. Also had to carry him up and down the stairs for ages, because he could not get the hang of them and would just freeze at the top and cry.
He did eventually start going up and down the stairs on his own, but he'd take them like 10 at a time in two huge leaps and I was constantly worried he was going to break one of those stick legs of his. :distress:

It was the last thirty seconds of the song and I loved it. A group called Infinite August with a song called Curves To Cope. It's not on youtube. Any of you know it?

Cannot help you there. The only radio station I can tolerate is KSHE here in STL, because they are a badass classic rock station that will play Aphrodite's Child for me when I text them and request it.
Anything else makes me want to look around for something sharp to shove in my ear.
Well, not counting stuff like Coast to Coast. I listen to that all the time, cos I like to be up to date on all the latest Tinfoil Hat Brigade issues, Indigo Children shenanigans, and Sasquatch sightings.

Its not a coincidence that Kids Incorporated did these two songs in 1984; the marketing plan rollout for the "Go Insane" album focused on the younger demographic (also see: unusual emphasis on expensive/acclaimed music videos, Lindsey's involvement in "We Are The World") Are we going to someday unearth that Lindsey did a guest spot on "Muppet Babies"?

My dream job is to become a sports broadcaster on ESPN. Well my mom was talking to her brother the other day, and she told him what I was majoring in. He had no idea I was interested in broadcasting. He told my mom he knew somebody who is in charge of a radio station near by and that I should call him and see if he had a job for me. Well ladies and gentleman, I talked to him today and he said he had a paying job to be a sideline reporter once a week during football season and he would call me with the job details next week! I'm nervous, but really excited about it :D

Ladies, please get your hpv vaccinations. Even if you plan to abstain until marriage/beyond, the three short pricks with a needle DO NOT COMPARE to the pain you could potentially save yourself from. To be cliche, life is what happens when you're busy making other plans. Getting the shot isn't admitting that you're having sex, it's making a responsible choice and being in control of your body.

Marissa is right. The HPV vaccine is important. If you don't have it, get it.
One of my dearest friends, who is only 28, has been battling cervical cancer for the past 6 months now. She's had to have a hysterectomy, part of her cervix removed, and more taken out, and they still aren't sure they got it all. She goes in for another biopsy this week.
It's important. Nothing wrong with trying to lower your odds, regardless of your current state of sexual activity or your plans regarding same in the future, yes?

Here's the best incident EVAR:
When I first moved back to PA, I didn't have a washer & dryer for a couple of months, and was stuck doing laundry like once a week or so up at a friend's. One night, my daughter got really sick and yakked alllllll over her Care Bears bedding - comforter, pillows, sheets, everything.
Since I couldn't wash it right away, I compromised by stuffing all the dirty stuff into a kitchen size garbage bag - you know, the kinda thin white ones you can sorta see through? And I stuck it out on the porch til the next day when I could go somewhere and get it washed up.
But when I went to get it the next day, it was gone. I imagine someone was strolling by or whatever and saw the Care Bears print through the plastic and thought, "SCORE!!!!!"
I was pissed off at first, because that wasn't cheap stuff, but then I thought about the dumbass getting the bag home, all "Yay!" and stuff, only to rip it open and find everything was covered in partially digested SpaghettiO's.
Then I felt much better.

I raise you.
Last spring, a friend of mine went abroad to France for a semester. She was doing a homestay, so she was living with a French family while she attended school. During the semester, the family had scheduled a vacation, so they asked her if she would be willing to stay alone and housesit for them while they were gone. She, of course, said this was fine, and the family gave her instructions on what to do while they were gone; one of them was that their dog, who had been very sick the past few days, might pass away while they were gone. If this happened, the girl shouldn't worry, they expected it to happen, she just simply has to get the body to the vet and the vet will take care of it.
Of course, the dog dies.
My friend has a minor break down. She didn't have a car and didn't have any idea how she was going to get this dog's body to the vet. Apparently she hadn't thought to ask before the family left. She found a big duffle bag in their closet, though, and figured, eh, 50 or so pounds of dead dog strapped across my shoulders shouldn't be too bad-- I'll take public transport.
So she gets on the subway.
As she boards, she catches the eye of some cute French boy. He comes over and starts talking to her, and she puts the bag down as fast as she can. The last thing she wants is the dead dog getting in the way of her game. In the middle of the conversation, he asks what she's carrying around, and she has new idea what to say, so she just goes with "ugh, my computer broke so I've got to take it to be repaired, and I don't have a car, so I'm stuck carrying it like this." It turns out, they're getting off at the same stop, and as they exit, he asks if he can help her carry the bag since it looks so heavy. She's flustered, but she agrees. She hands him the bag.
He takes off and runs with it.

DAY 1
Woke up at 5:00 AM...
Drove to school, and boarded the bus.
We waited four hours on a rowdy bus (all boys school) - finally a teacher put on 'Shanghai Knights'.
The movie was ok.
Then at around 2:00 PM, we arrived and the bus just left us :(
We then met our camp leader and packed our hiking bags.
The weather was really nice and we hiked or about an hour - visiting aboriginal sites.
We got to camp, and me and my friends were running around the site, ninja style.

Okay, yeah. That one definitely wins. I burst out laughing and then had to read it to everyone in my general vicinity, and THEY all burst out laughing. So it gets the Official Johnny Weir Seal of Approval:

If only someone could've been there to see him open up the bag...
Also, how did she explain that? "Well, some dude on the bus thought it was a computer and ran off with it..."
Oh my god. I've never been so flattered. But yup, her explanation was just "So....some con artist in Paris has your dog's body. I'm really sorry."

JTIS.
 Simply remarkable. I don't really know what else to say about that...

Of course, by my request, I received The Beatles Stereo Box Set from my Dad for my 21st birthday! :blob2: :blob2: :blob2: It's surely the best box set ever released! I've already played four albums - Please Please Me, With The Beatles, A Hard Day's Night, and (my favourite thus far) Magical Mystery Tour. Oh how I love it! :D I've already opened all the albums, except the non-album singles CD and the mini-docos DVD... I'm not sure when I'll open them... maybe when I feel a little less precious about it all!

I have trouble realizing tha was George right there, mostly cause I either picture him with a mop-top of with a beard, like in Abbey Road.
In the meantime, I have a huge question I must ask of you that many a FMac fan debate and have trouble answering: Rumours or Tusk?

oh boy.....
ok well:
Rumours is the most well known sound of Fleetwood Mac: Go Your Own Way, Dreams, etc...
Tusk was EXPERIMENTAL and Lindsey was tapping into his inner punk with influences like the Clash and the Kinks.
Sometimes i will find that Rumours was just too overplayed on the radio and i listen to Tusk. It's such an underrated album, but musical GENIUS.
I won't answer the question which one i like better because it changes with my mood, personally, my favorite FM album is Say You Will....

It depends for me too. I absolutely love Rumours, but Tusk, in all it's oddness, kicks ass too and shows that Lindsey isn't just a hot singer-songwriter-guitarist, he's also a brilliant producer.
I actually have the same debate in regard to Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, and Pink Floyd. I absolutely love their most famous albums (IV, Abbey Road, Dark Side of the Moon), but I also dig big time their double albums (Physical Graffiti, the White Album, The Wall), so it's often a toss-up with those 4 bands in regard to those albums.

I also gotta come out and say something: while Stevie has at least one great song an album, Tusk does have one of my faves from her, namely Sara. As for Chris, I think my faves from her are from Tango in the Night, namely Everywhere, Little Lies, and Isn't It Midnight. Of course, all 3 songwriters have great songs on every album.

I really like Stevie's songs on Tusk as well (esp. Angel and Sisters of the Moon). I guess I said Rumours for her because of Dreams and Gold Dust Woman. I don't like Dreams or GDW more than Angel or SOTM, but they are what I would call 'moment in time' songs. They were done when being famous was reasonably new to Stevie. She put more into them, and it shows. By the Tusk album/tour, she seemed used to fame and I felt her songs suffered a little for it.

TBH, I never found Stevie's song to really suffer in quality till when she got addicted to klonopin. Now that's when they started to get bad, but to me, every great songwriter has their ups and downs in terms of song quality.
Oh yeah, and I often found that, of her FMac material Rumours has my least favorite Stevie songs. I can't stand Dreams, Gold Dust Woman is better live (especially that 10 minute one from the Japan show), I'm not crazy for I Don't Want To Know, but I love Silver Springs and The Chain, but that's just me.

Hmmmm...I gotta do something I did in this Facebook group I'm in for Led Zeppelin (it's called And God Said, Let The Be Rock. And There Was Led Zeppelin) when I was asked who was my favorite member: do a breakdown of what i like about each person. I do like all for their songwriting abilities.
Stevie is the ultimate rock goddess that never fails to blow me away with her vocals on some live performances, namely Rhiannon.
Lindsey is one of my big guitar heroes that still leaves me shocked with his fingerpicking (and the fact that he's easy on the eyes helps too lol).
Christine has a gorgeous voice IMO and to me, is a bit of a female Steven Tyler (he's one of my favorite lead singers): in terms of songwriting, they could both write a beautiful ballad or a fun rocker whenever they feel like it.
Now, for who I like the most, I can't really decide, but I might go with Lindsey cause I've always had a bit of a bias towards the lead guitarist in bands (I've always thought that was the coolest thing you could do in a band, especially when you do it well). Oh yeah, and the fact that he's such a great singer, songwriter, and producer, along with his hotness helps too lol.

I agree about everything that you said, except that I would have had Stevie's songwriting abilities, and the fact that Lindsey is on fire on stage. Today, he's the reason why Fleetwood Mac still kicks ass live.

I forgot about those. I was tyring to write in a pinch cause I had to go out to pick up dinner. Yeah, Stevie is a great songwriter (her finest lyrics are definitely on Storms) and Lindsey is nuts on stage (he may not be as technically proficient as Mark Knopfler, but he's way better in all other areas). Hell, he is really part of the reason why many people still consider the Mac to be one of the best live bands around (ever watch some of the stuff from when those 2 John Stamos lookalies played guitar? The Chain just didn't quite sound the same.).
As for songwriting abilities, they're all great in their different ways and styles. Stevie can use all kinds of cool symbolism and imagery (and make my head hurt trying to figure all of it out lol), Lindsey while he does use simple lyrics (that do have a deep meaning), can really express his emotions through his guitar (especially on that guitar solo with vocals we know as I'm So Afraid), and Chris can come up with a million different ways of saying something as simple as I love you.

In the meantime, I have a huge question I must ask of you that many a FMac fan debate and have trouble answering: Rumours or Tusk?
Tusk - despite it feeling like I'm splitting hairs, the answer's easy for me. However, I made the best compilation ever (yes, I'm humble) of Fleetwood Mac (1975) and Rumours, which effectively equals Tusk for me. :)

Speaking of Simpsons and the Mac, I recall Homer taking out his list of things he wanted to do before he died (after he bowled a 300 game) and one of them was "See Stevie Nicks naked" which he apparently did 3 times.

I like the one where Bart is in the limo going to the ritzy area of town, and after they pass through the gates, he's staring out the window, naming off the stuff he sees: "McMansion, McMansion, McMansion, McDonald's, McDreamy, McSteamy, Fleetwood Mac, Macauley Culkin..."

Back in the days of yore, I once read a Simpsons comic in which Professor Frink accidentally created an alternate timeline with a time machine. He wasn't entirely sure of what he'd done, until he saw an advertisement in a store window:
"Fleetwood Mac is back!"
Of course, in those days of yore, I was too young and naive to know what Fleetwood Mac was... If only I knew then what fandom would overcome me in later years...

Just got back from my surgery about an hour ago...here's how it went:
First up: 4 shots of numbing whatever in my gums (taste is TERRIBLE)
Second: I lose feeling in the whole left side of my face (from my bottom lip to right under my eye)
Third: my mother leaves the room so that my mouth can be mutilated in peace..
Fourth: the doc and two assistants force me to keep my mouth open for about 30 mins while I listen and feel him scrape by friggin gums or whatever and drill and laser some stuff (I saw smoke!!). Then he takes his cell phone and takes pictures of my exposed tooth (that is kinda huge according to my mother...he showed her the pics). 10 mins later, I'm sitting in the lobby with my mother (I don't really remember getting out of the chair and walking).
Fifth: my mother and I go to cvs to pick of my prescription of vicodin, ibuprofen, and anti-biotics....I feel like crap.
And now I shall spend the rest of my day watching Dr.Who and being in pain (the vicodin helps ) =\

So I am staying with my foster parents for a few more weeks til my new house is ready. When I got down here, my foster dad's sister was living here, too, with her dog, Chloe. Chloe is the best dog ever, and the sister is basically useless, and also not nice to the dog. Yells at her all the time, makes her stay in the bedroom for no reason.
Sister meets some random skeezoid on the Internet about 2 months ago, and just leaves. For days at a time, at first, then weeks. Like, in the past 2 months, she's been home maybe 5 times, for 5 to 10 minutes each time, if that.
Which, hey - good, GTFO & stop stealing my cigarettes and annoying me.
But she left Chloe with us. Which is also fine, because we love Chloe. And there was a major change in Chloe's demeanor after the sister left. She's always been a good dog, but she's visibly much, much happier now - runs around and plays and acts goofy and is generally in a much better mental state.
Eventually the sister is saying, "Well, I don't know if I am moving out or not, but I can't take her with me if I do, because he doesn't like dogs," etc. Then she suggests maybe when I move out, I should take Chloe with me.
ABSOLUTELY. Chloe is wonderful with my kids, and a good watch dog, and just all around sweet. You don't find a dog like this just every day, you know? So I am more than happy to take her with me.
Thing is, for these two months the sister has been gone, she has not once bought dog food. Or even thanked us for taking care of her dog. Nothing.
And then all of a sudden, she shows up yesterday and says she's taking the puppy.
I was heartbroken, guys. I might have even cried a little (okay, a lot).
I mean, yes, she's technically not my dog, but I've been taking care of her for like 2 months now, and my daughter literally uses her as a pillow every night. She put her real pillow in the closet, because Chloe works better, she says.
So the sister takes the dog away, and we are all so sad panda, you have no idea.
BUT
This morning, my foster dad gets a text.
Apparently, she tried to take Chloe outside, but since the skeezoid has no fenced yard, she had to put Chloe on a leash.
And what did doggie do? She BOLTED as soon as her feets hit the pavement, and yanked the sister flat on her face. Busted out two of the sister's false teeth, scraped her face all up.
Annnnnnd now my dog's coming back home tomorrow.
Like, I am sorry (okay, not really) the sister got hurt, but clearly Chloe was not in the mood to be there. Sister always used to say Chloe could never go on a walk because she pulls on the leash too hard and tries to run away, but I've never had that problem. In fact, I can let the dog out without a leash on, and she will not run away, she just chills.
Hell, one of the kids accidentally left the back gate open once without realizing it, and I let the dogs into the backyard. A little while later, I walked past the front door to see Miss Chloe just sitting there, peering through the screen with her tongue hanging out, like, "Can I come back in?"
So I'm just sayin' that it sounds to ME like the dog knows where she wants to be.
Yay, doggie!

I had mine pulled spring break of my senior year of HS. While my friends were off on a cruise, i was getting home sick in bed. I got a new comforter out of it though.
To this day, 17 years later, I tell every doctor that I'm allergic to codeine. I don't think i'll ever have a codeine addiction, let's put it that way.
Hope you are on the mend soon. I can't remember much about what I ate or drank, but i do remember washing my mouth with salt-water through a syringe contraption. And I do remember no straws for a week or two.
I'm so happy I had it done while I was still on my parents insurance and that I was still in HS. I had friends who had it done 5, 10, 15 years after me and from what I remember hearing the experience was much worse (and expensive!)

I was supposed to get my wisdom's pulled at age 18 but didn't because I feared for my life with all the horror stories others had shared. I put it off for 15 years and once or twice a year for a few days they'd hurt like hell. 800 ml. Ibiprophen would relieve the pain. Finally in 1994 my dentist said they had to be removed and he knew how afraid I would be so he introduced me to valium. I was instructed to take six over a four hour period and then be driven to the appointment. By the time I arrived at the office I didn't feel a ****ing thing. I remember giggling thru the procedure. After that I was driven home by my friend and the high was incredible! I went to sleep for 4 hours, woke up, felt NO PAIN and had pot roast for dinner. I was a cigarette smoker in those days. I was told not to smoke for 48 hours but as any smoker will tell you; that's impossible. I was never in any pain from the sugery. However, because I smoked right away, mary jane too, I created an air pocket below one of my gums and that had to be dealt with another time, but I don't remember how.
Moral of the story: Don't fear the reaper. Getting your wisdom's out may be no big deal at all.
And Don't Forget To Ask For VALIUM!!!!

I couldn't drink anything out of a straw the first time I had this surgery because my gums felt like they were falling off, but I think I can do it now...and the wisdom tooth thing...I'm doing that this year sometime because my doc said I should just get it done and over with lol
Good thing mary-jane and I aren't friends lol
Ask for Valium...check lol (just for the giggles lol)
First A Level exam like, right now. Wish me luck!
Good luck hun! I have tests this week too but thank "god" it's not today...

Zombie, Chloe was always your dog. So that was a most heartwarming outcome for you to get her back! :D
Incidentally, mum, David and I have had our cat Sooty for the past six years and he has also always been our cat - the neighbours that originally owned him (and imaginatively called him "Seyfer") would always leave him locked in the garage meowing endlessly... until we let him out and brought him into our unit one night when the neighbours were away for the weekend (yes, they effectively left him locked in the garage for the weekend). We had to put him back a little before they came home, but afterwards we were able to start letting him out more often when the neighbours were out. It got to the point that, when the neighbours moved out, they had to let Sooty out of the garage, and he immediately dashed into our backyard. They knocked on our door, but I wasn't home, and mum was in the shower. (She didn't make a special effort to get out.) They gave up... almost - they kept coming back for two weeks after their move, but we kept Sooty inside our house (better than a garage) for those two weeks, and they didn't bother knocking to check. We've officially owned Sooty since, and he's lived a generally happy life, except for this cat that's recently taken to beating him up from time to time, so we're always wary of that... mind, Sooty's a pretty naughty cat, and can be quite easily antagonised, probably due to mistreatment when he was a baby. Nonetheless, he's lovable! :)
Btw mum once saw the old neighbours when she was driving - it seems they've had a baby... one can only wonder how that child will grow up... :distress:

Today I bought an absolute heap of albums! My album orders of 11 weeks ago came in today, and I also got a $60 gift voucher for JB Hi-Fi from a good friend today, so I spent it on them:
Out Of The Blue - ELO (30th Anniversary Limited Edition)
Kiln House - Fleetwood Mac
Penguin - Fleetwood Mac
Pyramid - The Alan Parsons Project (technically I just grabbed it while I was picking the other three up)
My friend is going to be reciprocated tomorrow with a $60 voucher for Borders for his birthday, which was a mere four days before mine. While I was there I used a gift voucher from Christmas and bought:
Behind The Mask - Fleetwood Mac
Time - Fleetwood Mac
So, yeah, that'll keep me busy! I'm currently listening to Out Of The Blue, which is just generally awesome, as anyone who's heard it would agree (unless they didn't like good music). :D

Sooty is an awesome name for a cat. I don't like cats, myself, but mostly because I am frightfully allergic to them. Ask me about the time I volunteered at the animal control in Chicago in 8th grade. It was a nightmare. Of course, it didn't stop me from the volunteering, but still.

Those are mighty fine names! When I get my dachshund, his name will be Pliers. I will lovingly fashion him a beanie hat with a propeller on the top. I have it all planned out.
I keep trying to get a decent photo of my foster uncle's dachshund, Sammy, because of the whole not a tooth in his head thing and the resultant tongue constantly sticking out, but he is far too regal for such and pointedly turns away every time.

I'm glad to hear it! :D
I called him Sooty because he's a white long-hair cat with grey patches. I was also inspired to call him such because he acts so much like Andy Griffiths' dog Sooty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Griffiths). Anyway, your allergy to Sooty is probably a good thing - he's so naughty when he's awake! However, most other cats are calm, affectionate and adorable, so in that respect your allergy is kind of annoying for you, I guess...
Yeah, c for cat, as ButterCookie observed. Her observation wasn't quite as obvious as this one from Captain Obvious though:

Actually, I love pretty much all Buffy eps. Angel, too, though not in quite the same way.
And that is a mighty fine name for such a cute bunny! My friend once had a bunny named Nic - short for Bunnicula, nootch. The Celery Stalks at Midnight!

I like watching TR because every single time we do, my boyfriend gets all teary at the end when they do the whole Michelle Branch thing and everyone's leaving, it's hilarious. It never fails.

Sometimes I can't help myself.
Like, last night, my foster dad asked me if I wanted to come along to my foster grandparents' house for a visit, and without thinking, I popped off with, "Golly! I'd rather slam my head in a door."
Which, you know, is TRUE. I would rather slam my head in a door than go over there. But that was mean, so I immediately apologized to my foster mom, "Linda, I am sorry I said I would rather slam my head in a door than visit your parents."
I blame my malfunctioning Brain to Mouth Filter and the fact that my inner monologue closely resembles the Bataan Death March. Trufax.
