I just took a trip down memory lane and watched one of the youtube videos of Christine joining the rest of the band to perform Don't Stop in London. She has just got to rejoin this band. I'd hate to think that was just a 2 night deal and that's all.

I almost didn't watch those performances... I waited weeks after London, and finally caved and watched them once. I just don't want to be teased at the thought of her returning to Fleetwood Mac, then it not happen.

I miss you guys. :(

Where have you been, and why can't you hang out more often?

So sorry that I've been MIA for about a month (last time I logged in was in October) but I've recently started a new job at a huge corporation as a Metadata Assistant and it's been pretty intense the first month that I've been there. I was at one location for the first couple of weeks and then transferred to another indefinitely.

I kind of miss being at the first location only because I liked the people there and it was a much shorter commute than it is now. Currently, I have to drive 1.5 hours (sometimes 2 on the way back) to get there. I've had to buy gas every week. I could take the toll roads but I live in Illinois and don't have an I-Pass (those transponder thingies people have on their windshields for open road tolling), plus I would have to pay 4-6 tolls per day for going there and back. And it's a Monday-Friday, 9-5pm type job and I don't know if I really want to do that. So, I have my own way of going there and back and have been changing it up recently just to see if I could cut down my commute time.

I just hope this works out in the long run because as of right now it's a temp job and even though it pays well, I really don't know what my situation is come December 31st. Either, I will be staying on there and getting moved to a different project or I will have to look for another job.

Well, here I go again...
I did my last test today. The end of third year of History is coming!!! I must send one more work, but well...things at university were good, maybe.
After that. I was waiting for the bus, when a little girl sat a few mts. away from me. She had a very rare hairstyle, black and white (I like it!). She took the same bus, but when I saw her, I couldn't believe it...after maybe 9 years, I saw my first love again. God, and she's still so beautiful...an angel with a doll face!!
We met at primary school, so, I was 12 or 13. I was so close, but I ruined it, and I lost her. After that, I never saw her, except once. And then, really nothing.
Even when I was young and maybe you can't feel (or fall in) love at that age, I never forgot her, and she's always over here, after all that time and what happened.
What I'm feeling? I'm feeling stupid maybe, because I think I can do nothing, and she won't forgive me, but I saw her after a long long time, and it feels...good.
WHY!!!!!!!!!! :(

As I noted earlier in the OMG/Insider thread that my internal DVD player/burner went south .Now I'm try to look for a replacement and trying to hunt for a new one without getting it online.I went to Staples and they dont carry them anymore the same with Radio Shack and Walmart.Walmart had some online and take about 5 to 10 days to get it.

I'm surprised that Radio Shack Oh I mean Cell Shack is still in business these days.
I was shocked they did not offer me a cellphone. and also shocked they still have a hand full of electronic parts in the store.

I will check out Best Buys tomorrow.I just need it incase this computer go belly up and I need the DVD player to get the start-up software going.

The way I see the future is they are eliminating store stock and making store smaller and hire less workers to work in the stores.

I like hands on product .Not online only BS that I cant see what it looks like.

In the meantime I will check and see if BB has Stevie's docu there.

Thanks for the heads up.I seen the two disc noted on BB's website tonight when I was looking for the DVD burners.I probably go down to BB in the next couple of days or when the crappy weather clears up.

They better fix the typo because its false misleading advertising .Unless its a online deal only.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/stevie-nicks-in-your-dreams-2-disc-dvd/2905291.p?id=2835702&skuId=2905291

For that mistake BB should throw the IYD CD in for free at their cost.

The first thing I do when I get in a car is check the gas level. The first thing I do when I sign onto The Ledge is check to see if I have any pm's. It drives me completely crazy when I have sent you a pm and you don't notice you have one and don't read it and respond asap. What's worse is the people who pm me with a question and I answer them right away but then I add in a question and they never respond back. So, so frustrating. JTIS

It's hard to imagine people not noticing the PM notification. Those bold numbers next to the "Unread" label bring me so much joy.

Yes .I agree on the gas gauge .I dont add to my daily walk to get gas after the car runs out.Had that happen before.

Also I do the same with the PM's here.I check them on other forums too and I check my email addy's too soon as I fire up the computer.

Since i dont have a iPhone I got to use the computer to check the email and anything else.

I would add checking my answering machine when I get home to the list.

What I got to do is clean out the PM box because its almost full.

What I dont understand why does the forum software count the outgoing PM's as a count of PM's.The incoming should be the only ones to get counted .

I'm glad you like the cat. I tried to change it the other day (for a bit of interest) but nothing looked quite as good. I tried other black cats and Stevie pics, but I decided to stick with this cat in the end. It is very very similar to my own cat.

OMG, the scariest thing just happened to me and I should be in serious pain or severely injured. But I'm perfectly fine. I was stepping into my car when I suddenly and unexpectedly slipped on the ice and fell backward. The middle of my spine cracked like the sound of someone pulling their fingers to crack them. I landed on that piece of iron where, when the door closes, the lock latches onto that piece. I slunk into my seat and said, "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God." And I said, "I can't believe this just happened to me!" Then I waited for the pain. But there was none.
I stopped at an inconvenience store and an EMT man was coming out so I told him what happened and that I felt no pain. He suggested that after I get home and warm up that I might feel some pain and when I wake up in the morning, if I have numb legs I should go to the hospital and get a back X-Ray.
I am not in any pain whatsoever.

I give all my thanks to God.

My current sig pic is of an evangelist named Jan Crouch. She was very popular in the 1980's and 1990's on TV. I used to watch her just because she wore the same clothes that Stevie wore. She had really big hair that was probably a wig, but it blended well with those outfits. She came back into my memory because her husband, also an evangelist, recently passed away. One show that clearly stands out in my mind is the trip she took to the Holy Land. She stood on the top of some cliff and out stretched her arms and her beautiful shawl flowed in the wind.

Well I went to A&E, I can't remember exactly what they did as it was over 10years ago. I didn't have an MRI, but they told me I was ok. It was so scary though. The shock got to me more than anything. Thinking back, I still can't believe I was ok. I really did feel like this:

It happened at Bondi beach in Australia, the waves there are well known for dumping foreigners who don't have enough experience in the sea. I'd always loved bodyboarding since I was a kid, but ever since that happened I'm now frightened of big waves. I still love the sea but I'm also really wary of it.

Ice is another scary thing. I've had some pretty scary moments in cars, or from just falling over on ice.

Wow .Thats nice. You always can go to your local library and lurk from there.I've done that many of times when my computer goes belly up.

I remember back in the 1990's before myself and my parents got a computers I was up at the library on their computer browsing NicksFix and other sites at the time .
At that time I had to wait until one of the four computers was available. They give you only 30 minute sessions then. Now they have about 20 computers and give you 1 hour a session.

Since I dont have a cell phone that will go online .Library is my choice.

I only go up to the library now when my ISP connection is dead for a good length of time and just to check my email and the forums.

Show us some pix of your new flooring if you dont mind.

When I was buying my house, there was a list of conditions that the previous owner had to finish, before I took ownership. One of those was having all the hardwood refinished. So, they did it, THE MORNING that I was taking possession!!!

I showed up with keys, and a loaded car, and the smell would knock you down! Managed to unload what I had into the kitchen, and couldn't move in for a couple of days. Although it REEKED, until it DIDN'T. It was horrible, and then instantly, it was gone. I guess when it finally hardens, the smell magically disappears.

I've been a nomadic apartment-renter for my adult life, so I can't relate to these floor refinishing posts. But bad smells suck.

There. That is my contribution to this conversation. :) *proud of self*

Also, my husband brought me home bacon jam! BACON JAM! It is a transparent ploy to get him laid kinkily, and it is going to work 100%.

And yes, vivfox! I agree with you that Ledgies don't seem to be a terribly sharing bunch these days. ;) Oh well.

The high desert area. It's currently 25 degrees with a "wintry mix" here in Kansas City, so I am beyond ready for the heat right now.

A friend just sent this to me and I was so grateful to receive it, I thought it might be good to share it. I watched a documentary about this lady a year ago and read her book. It looks like they have now made a film about her too. Some of this may be upsetting to watch as she is a holocaust survivor (now 110 years old!), but she is so inspirational I wanted to post it.
So for any one that is interested, its about the power of music :)

Funnily enough, I find the opposite. I feel like I give more time to more people because of Facebook facilitating such efficient and easy communication with them. I see way more of people than I ever did pre-Facebook.

I have to take a break from Facebook about once a year. I just get so very sick of people's constant BS, and the never ending stories about how Facebook is selling our information, etc. So I'll deactivate Facebook for a few weeks, and I'm in utter bliss. In the end, I invariably reactivate my account, because people start giving me crap about it. Plus, it's the only way I keep in contact with some relatives & old friends. I *REALLY* hate being a slave to this very abusive app.

The "Facebook selling our information" stories don't bother me in and of themselves. I honestly didn't really ever expect my information to be kept private on a free internet website. I simply don't put much personal information on it. Those "check in at x location" things, for example, are ones I take issue with. Not a good idea. I don't even use my real name on Facebook. I'm of the age where dangers of the internet were vigorously beaten into us at school. "Don't use your real name" was rule 1. Then here comes Facebook saying "You MUST use your real name". No, Facebook, I think you'll find I don't. But most of my peers take no issue with it so maybe I'm a bit of a tinfoil-hat type.

In the beginning, Facebook was great for exactly the reason you mention - it was easy and convenient to facilitate social networking, *offline*, by using an online tool.

I have to take a break from Facebook about once a year. I just get so very sick of people's constant BS, and the never ending stories about how Facebook is selling our information, etc. So I'll deactivate Facebook for a few weeks, and I'm in utter bliss. This is my first time deactivating it - but it's been on my mind almost every single day since June or July. I've even talked about it on Facebook, but that is not a wise decision. People will give you every reason under the sun why you should stay for their benefit.

Initially, I thought I'd unfriend everyone who lived in the Denver area. My logic was that if a friend is five miles away, it's a total shame that I have to keep up with them by reading Facebook posts. I was only going to keep family and long-distance friends. Ultimately, I decided an all-or-nothing approach was best for me.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I have 90% of my friends "hidden" from my feed, because people do annoy me like crazy.

But see, if you have to hide them from your feed - what's the point in having that connection at all? I'm only asking rhetorically, but it's a practive I lived by. Hiding someone just says you're ashamed or embarrased of them, for whatever reason. I unfriended my own grandmother over a political argument. I certainly wasn't just going to hide her posts. It seems...well, terribly fake.

I know everyone has different reasons they love or hate Facebook. I can admit there was a time when Facebook was exciting and fun. Now, I'm checking it 35-50 times a day on my phone just to share outrage about this news event or what he said or she said. It's a complete waste of time, and *speaking only for myself* I suspect I might have been using Facebook as a way to avoid actual, face-to-face socialization. Why drive or walk to see anybody? I already know every damn thought they've had for the past five years!? Facebook makes everyone far less interesting than they really are!

Also, I find the same is true of many of my friends, though they don't recognize it or they ignore it, by choice. People I've known for 20 years never seem to have time to get together for a drink. To go dancing. To go to dinner. To hang and listen to music or talk about books or talk about life. But they are always online, on Facebook.

I took a serious look at myself and my friendships over the past 6 months, and with an honest eye I saw that the people I felt the most connected to and had the most actual face-to-face time with, or even time on the phone, were the people who were not on Facebook or who had already left Facebook for the same reasons. We have to put effort into keeping in touch, and it feels glorious. Good relationships don't just happen, and I don't consider the effort put into Facebook to have a good return for the time investment.

The connections on Facebook are superficial and extremely voyeuristic. People are too easily offended because they lack the tone of your voice and your facial expressions to go with your words, and so they take things personally or misunderstand completely. Even long-term, close friends will misconstrue meaning and intent.

More often than not, friends aren't sharing anything real about themselves. They just share news, recipes and funny internet memes. Or vague statements that leave you wondering if they just need a hug. I just don't have time for it anymore. More truthfully, I don't want to make time for it anymore. Got a problem? Call me. I'm not sifting through Facebook to find out they've had a bad day.

I don't know how long I'll stay away. Keep in mind, I am 40. When I was a young adult, we used libraries to read, went to stores to buy things, and gathered *in the same place* to share ideas. We had parties. There's certainly a nostalgia factor for me in leaving Facebook; I have some sort of hope that without it, I'll be a better friend. I'll call. I'll come over. I'll care about your life and what's happening because it's not in my face all the time.

Or so I'd like to believe.

Lastly, I don't care if my information is being sold. I'm a law abiding, 40 year old gay man. I get up, I work, I eat, I like music, I rarely watch TV, I'm an avid gardener. I have a liking for local craft beer. Whoopdie-doo.

I'm not entirely sure how you figure that. I am still afforded the ability to see what I want to from them on Facebook, and easily contact them when I have the inclination, which I sometimes do. It just limits involuntary overexposure to certain people. Facebook offers me that level of control, so why not use it?

The rest of your post makes perfect sense, and it sounds like you are probably making a wise choice. Honestly, I do not share you experiences. I'm 26, almost all of my friends have been on Facebook since I met them, and we see each other and go out for drinks and meals often. So keeping them on my friends list(without me viewing their crap  ), doesn't hurt their feelings(me defriending them), and still allows me to invited them to parties, etc...

I guess it's perhaps an age thing, but I find hiding someone from your feed to be incredibly rude. :wavey: It's like taping the mouth shut of someone you've invited to a party. If you don't want to hear them talk...don't invite them.

I'm definitely having some remorse about Facebook already. I don't miss it, maybe (?), but I'm wondering if perhaps *I* need to change the way *I* use it, rather than carrying disappointment for what I perceive to be the poor manners of others. Self-imposed boundaries are the hardest to abide.

It really isn't like that, though. Taping someone's mouth shut actually affects them. This just affects my personal experience. I'd consider a more accurate analogy to be receiving an email from a friend, noting its presence, and then not opening it until I feel like reading it. Just because I want to choose when I hear from people rather than having to manually skim trough all of the indirect chatter they post, doesn't mean I necessarily want to close that line of communication altogether.

No. Facebook is one communication medium in a world of many. There is much to take its place, functionally, in your life. I think you just need a few days to adjust. ;)

Like I said...I think it's just generational differences in perception. To me, Facebook is a big room with all my friends in it. You're in or out, there's no in between.

Haha, yes. It may be an age thing after all. I don't really understand that perspective, but I can't ask you to explain it because there really isn't going to be any kind of explanation. It's just how we see it.

I also wanted to mention, because I feel really old right now, that you're 26. I was 26 when I got my first computer with internet. Let that sink in.

If it helps, I'm married, have lost a lot of hair off my head, and have a smartphone that hasn't been able to connect to the internet for two years, and I don't go to the store to get it fixed because I really don't care that much. And I'm spending my Friday night watching Frasier alone (on DVD, no less!). I'm a pretty "old" 26. ;)

I think 26 would probably be a great age to just get started discovering the internet. 14 was ok, but it did get a little hairy at times as teenagers really lack perspective. My younger siblings who grew up with it in the house all their lives... I'm not sure, to be honest. There's definitely a difference there.

Will I become obsolete if I'm not on Facebook?

Hmm.

Interestingly enough, almost everyone I know in their teens & 20s has eschewed facebook. If you look at statistics, the average age of facebook users is now something like 45. So you might actually be more relevant by bowing out of facebook. :p

You are just too cute, ;)

Seriously, though. That is "real cold", by any standard. Yikes! Glad you have working heating!

If you convert it to Celsius that's -25.5 degrees. Just in case you ever make it want to sound extra hardcore.

I guess it's perhaps an age thing, but I find hiding someone from your feed to be incredibly rude. :wavey: It's like taping the mouth shut of someone you've invited to a party. If you don't want to hear them talk...don't invite them.

I have my brother-in-law hidden from my newsfeed simply because I have absolutely no interest in the numerous videos and cheezeburger site links he posts. Plus he gets an invite to parties only because he comes with my wife's sister and my nephew

However here in Australia (eastern) we are currently having temperatures just shy of 50C (122F?).

Thankfully not where I live, getting to 38C on Monday next week, that is probably hot enough for me!

Oh dear God! I could never hack it down under. After it hits about 27C I am basically completely over being a reasonable human being. I have no idea what would happen at 50C.

Here in the South of England it's about 10C. With some wind. So I do find it a bit chilly. Living here has obviously made me grow soft. ;)

Haha, can I ask you to elaborate, out of pure curiosity? As a non-Brit living here, it seems the notion of people from other developed countries wanting to live in the UK or become British is one the local people find incredibly puzzling/mystifying. I like it well enough, though. Just interested in your take on it. :)

JTIS....
There is an exhibition in my local café of illustrations by a local artist. The theme is the Mabinogion - the collection of 11 medieval welsh stories. One of the paintings is Rhiannon with her horse and birds. As I'm a big Stevie fan, and Stevie is a big Rhiannon fan, I thought it was best that I purchase a print of it - a late Christmas present to myself. Its a fantastic picture. When I attach things they always come out small, and I don't know how to make them bigger so...
You can also see the picture at her blogsite http://lucyburns.blogspot.co.uk/

That's nice to hear about the iPod coincidence - that's Stevie/Rhiannon magic for you ;) It's a great picture, isn't it - i'm sooooo pleased with it. I was amazed it turned up in my local café! They are very recent paintings.
My print is 2/100 so I'm sure she has quite a few more to sell. You can contact her at the e-mail address on the blog site, or I could speak to her next time I see her. Just wanting to commiserate on the temps right now. 2 days ago it was -50'c. (We were on the news as being colder than the surface of Mars....not sure if that's something to be proud of or not?) My teens were mad because it has to be -52'c with the windchill here for school to be cancelled. They couldn't figure out what the extra 2 degrees would freeze that -50'c wouldn't. Hmmmmm, sounds like a bureaucratic decision to me. Still nice to see them off to school to enhance the brain cells after a very cold 2 weeks. As long as you dress properly, it's no problem walking. Outdoor rinks were open, but not quite as many people on them as you would see at -25'c. Downhill skiing a bit of a chore, and the dogs retired from walking during those temps. Their paws just can't last for long. So instead they turn the house into their playground. It's like having 2 toddlers wrestling for long periods of time. 2 storms of 8"of snow in the past 2 weeks also, so the driving is a bit wobbly too. The favorite chant in our city is "The Plows Are Coming, The Plows Are Coming!!!!!!!!":shocked::shocked::eek:

Are you in Winnipeg, lovethemac? I've genuinely been looking it up all afternoon! It's a place I want to visit someday and maybe potentially live. As my husband and I are missing Canada and I'm getting nostalgic for "proper" winter. It looks rather lovely, although it seems to get a very mixed review from locals (but I actually like a little negativity. My native Calgary is way too up-up-Calgary-is-so-awesome-yay for me, as I'm used to a bit of snarl, having lived in the UK for a while now).

The "colder than Mars" headline was a puzzle to me when I first read it. Considering Winnipeg is a very specific place on Earth and Mars is an entire planet with many areas that are going to be varying distances from the sun with different temperatures at any given time. I thought it was almost a bit cocky as a headline, actually. But I don't deny that -50 is cold as f***! Yeesh!

My native-Southern-English colleagues are watching North America's extreme winter weather at the moment with real fascination. I can't help but feel a little smug as I seem to be the only person in my office who seems capable of fathoming -30 as a temperature. Is that a stupid thing to be smug about? Almost definitely.

Good deduction Dex!!! Yes, I am a Winnipegger through and through. I agree with your Calgary comment, having lived in Lethbridge for a number of years in the early 90's. Calgary is a beautiful city, non-the-less. Winnipeg does consist of people who love it and in the same breath, despise the extremes. Very cold winters, hot and humid summers, and mosquitos in wet years. However, we do have a very lush green canopy of old trees, lot's of festivals and cultural events (ie. Winnipeg Folk Festival, Fringe Festival), beautiful rivers running through the city, gorgeous parks, lot's of sporting events and sports activities, good cost of living and reasonable housing prices, Canadian shield along with forests and lake country a spit's distance away, beautiful old architecture, and most importantly, very friendly people. If you do like Winter, full stop, spring, full stop, summer, full stop, fall, full stop.....it definitely has that.

You're really selling it!

I never thought I'd live anywhere in Canada too far from the mountains, as I love them so much. But the cost of living in more eastern parts is certainly tempting, and Winnipeg is the only other place in Canada that seems like it has a similar vibe to what I grew up with. I've considered living in Ontario or the eastern provinces but decided pretty quickly that they wouldn't feel like "home" to me. If I'm going to live in Canada, I want to feel like I'm home again, y'know?

Anyway, we know literally nobody in Manitoba so it's probably unlikely we'll find ourselves there. But I like fantasizing about different possibilities. Thanks for your input!

I used to have dreams about living in Saskatoon.

In the dream I remember most, Saskatoon was a huge glittering city of skyscrapers, surrounded by fields of pink and blue flowers. The city glowed on the horizon, like the Emerald City from Oz. There was some kind of plague, and I had to escape through tunnels under the city with lots of other people, which were filled with exotic dance clubs.

I emerged outside the city on the side of a hill; those pink and blue flowers were everywhere, and there were Indian women in sarees dancing on the hillside who seemed delighted that I had made it out. Looking behind me, Saskatoon was brilliantly colored against the night sky, and I knew I had to go back becasue I *belonged* there.

I don't know why I thought it was Saskatoon - but I just *knew* that it was, even though it was never said. For a while, I was sort of obsessed with moving there. Sometimes I would sit at work and Google pictures and articles about the city's history.

The reality is that Saskatoon doesn't seem to be a particularly interesting place. But I get this weird feeling when I think about it, like deja vu.

Dreams. Heh.

That's kind of amazing! Where did you even hear of Saskatoon? It's not one that's on the international radar of many people.

I think Saskatoon is supposed to be a kind-of-ok mid-sized city... But Saskatchewan as a whole is just far too monotonous for me, in terms of landscape. I have the same problem with Eastern Alberta. Too much prairie just makes me a little kooky. I couldn't cope there.

Maybe you lived a previous life there. Stevie would love that kind of thing I bet, reiincarnation. Saskatoon is actually an incredibly beautiful city. The city downtown which is very pretty, is on one side of this big river, and residential on the other side but up on top of a huge escarpment/cliff. I always thought if I had to live in another prairie city, Saskatoon would be it.

There seems to be some sort of mini flu going around this season. It doesn't last as long as the regular flu, or have as severe of effects. One of my friends who got the flu shot this season just recently got this mini flu, too. So have some of my coworkers.

I have not had flu shot this year, but I really should get one. Being HIV+, it's just too damn risky not to get one. I also get a pneumovax every couple of years to protect me from pneumonia.

I started get flu shots back in the 90's when I worked in call centers, which are breeding grounds for flu and other airborne illnesses.

Having travelled to South America, I've also had vaccines for Typhoid, yellow fever, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B. The Hep A shot is the absolute worst injection ever - it feels like lava being pumped in at the injection site.

Yeah, although mine wasn't really short(fever for about 2&1/2 days), that was really it, with the aches that of course go with the fever.

I will post here what I won't on FB, though. So one of my tenant's furnace went out(while I was just coming out of the fever). Well, about half of the time, I can fix it, and save $100 service call. Well, I couldn't figure it out myself, so I called the serviceman. He gets there, and I started feeling like I was going to throw up...so I went outside for a bit. Didn't happen. Went back in, and told him that I'd been sick, and should probably go back home to bed. I got halfway to the front door, and WENT DOWN. PASSED OUT. I don't remember going down AT ALL. I remember opening my eyes, and looking at my tenant, and asking her how I got on her floor. She said, "you didn't fall, but controlled your descent, but you were out cold, when you got to the floor!" I HAVE NEVER PASSED OUT/FAINTED IN MY LIFE! But I did. Didn't scare me....I knew I was weak, but I'm Superman, and have always been able to push myself through anything. And for the first time ever, Superman failed.

That sounds like a horrible illness - hope you are feeling better now.

Cheers for the info :)

Those of you that have cable TV .I just got hit with a $1.50 Broadcast TV fee added to my monthly bill. This is Comcast .Other probably or have follow suit.

Info here .

Hey If locals and network start having quality programs to watch then reality shows, infomercials and more time cut out of good series like CSI to load more ads into the time slot. I would be not complaining about the surcharge.

It looks like I will be going to use TVFreeload,Hulu,YouTube and others more when I finally cut the cable cord for good soon.

I'm sure that dollar fifty will sink your ship. I have Comcast also. I just get the basic channels and it costs me 6.00 a month. I rarely turn it on. I haven't watched tv in two years but I am considering tuning in again. I'll find something interesting on the big three.

Comcast SUCKS! Unfortunately, DISH does as well! So my CC bill was up to what?...$65(it's been about 4 years, so IDK how much expanded basic is now), so I went with DISH. GUARANTEED $14.99 for the first year, and $34.99 after that. EXCEPT THEY ARE F*CKING LIARS! About 3 months in, they raised the CONTRACT!!!! rates, and said, "local stations charge more now, so the only was we can honor the contract, is by dropping all your local stations(or raise the price)". So they now extract $55 from my checking account monthly, which is still better than CC, EXCEPT unless it's snowing, or raining, or even SPRINKLING, then you're left with "complete signal loss" for hours. If I wasn't addicted to the Food Network, HGTV, and TVLAND, I'd just tell em to shove it, and go to CC basic $20 package. THEY ALL SUCK!

Yes. It sinks my ship on ripping the subscribers off. They fall into the same dept as the big corrupt oil companies .$6 bucks a month WOW .I only got the basic 26 channels and I pay $30 bucks for it with all the extra BS charges they tack on the bill. With those extra charges .Its like those inflated convenience fees from Ticketbasturd tacked on our concert tix.

My sister has Dish and she hates it.Yes she had to go out to brush the snow off the dish to watch TV.Maybe they should put a heater coil in the dish to melt the snow on it.She said she will go with ATT U-verse as soon as her package runs out. I have ATT U-verse for my internet ISP and it works great.I had problem with it with modems crapping out .Dropping connection at times but they were quick to fix the problems.

Plus I want to add .Why us subscribers get stuck with channels that we never tune in and watch.ESPN and other sports channels come to me since I'm not a sports fan like I used to be.

ESPN is the most expensive channel with their per subscriber fees of approx $5 to $6 bucks a month on the subscribers bill.

ESPN is the one I miss the most.

I cut the cable over a year ago. Those jokers
aren't getting anymore of my money.

And I think life is a little better without so
much TV.

Well let's see, I don't know if it's correct to post this picture here, but it's about Lindsey, and watching the last pics on his thread, lot of them from the OOTC days, I want to share with you what came yesterday!!!!
I had a FLAC copy of the album, but well, obviously nothing compares to the original CD, which completes the first part of my collection, with L&O and Go Insane, the last one on cassette...
Here the Lindsey albums are really hard to find, so I took the first chance, of course!

Didn't know where else to post this though considered starting a thread for it I this forum because its Mac related but a game. I came up with this silly idea with my best friend where (due to him not being much of a lyrics guy) he asks me questions- any question, try and stump me and I answer with a Mac lyric that fits. As in he just asked me "Whete should I go on my next vacation?" And I responded with "I like the coastal cities, I like the lights. I lie the way the city blends into the ocean at night..." And he and I being big Stevie fans were playing Mac or Stevie so I also tossed out "I wanna go back to New Orleans. I wanna sing on the streets of the French quarter..."

Anyway I think it's fun and I know many forums play games of sorts. Not sure if anyone else is interested or not but we could answer a question with lyrics (we could do Mac only or Mac plus Lindsey, Stevie, Chris solo songs?) and then ask a new question. Might be silly but why not? Anyone interested? I know people frequently throw in a lyric here and there around here (and I speak in them from time to time) so I figure I can't be alone in this and there's so many gems. Or it could get funny or whatever. Anyone in?

A friend of mine and I have just started a music documentary called Sound Table, about local artist in RI and MA. We are exploring the differences and connections across all genres of music. I love to write and sing but after doing a set of interviews this weekend with a steel guitar association, every guitarist was in their eighties and no one writes! They only perform covers but I had so much fun hearing their stories. I feel like I have a new appreciation for those who do not write lyrics.

I just wanted to share our page www.facebook.com/soundtablefilm

Please like it and share if you are from my area, reach out, we would love more musicians/producers to film.

I have... Maybe 220? And even then I look at it and go "There's no way I really know that many people." and indeed, many of them I haven't exchanged even the most passive of Facebook interactions with in years. The phrase "You have 220 friends" is just completely farcical.

I'm a musician, and probably half of my "friends" are musicians and their friends. The other half are real friends, and friends of friends.

Okay, when I really think about it...out of the 1200, I probably have met...hmm....800? of them.

Believe me, I no longer try to add people! I accept most requests(unless we have zero friends in common), but I've been unfollowing people like crazy!

For example, a pretty good friend of mine posts WAY too much. And like 10 freaking selfies a day! I finally commented on one yesterday, and just said, "SO MANY SELFIES", hoping that maybe he would take the hint. Two selfies later, I unfollowed him. Get your face offa my computer, and btw, all those selfies make you look like a douche!!!(what I wanted to say).:p

Homer, I never told you this before but it was actually you that convinced me to join FB 2 years ago without even knowing it. You always talking about how you resisted for so long as had I, and that how the new experience had really enhanced your life, as has mine. I spend more time on FB than any other site. I even suggested to Michele to move The Ledge over there to save on expenses.
I run 2 groups of my own and Admin. in 3 others. It is a lot of fun. Plus I belong to a really cool Stevie site on there. The Ledge will always be my number one site for FM info but just in case TL will cease to exist some day, I still want to be able to stay in touch with any friend's from here.
I only accept friend requests from people I know or people that have exchanged many online conversations with me. I never had the desire to amass countless friend's just to have a high number on my wall. I do have over 1,000 followers but I never asked a single one of them to do so. I post PG rated pics of hot guys and the people from FB love them, and that is why so many members follow me on there.

I agree with everything you said!
And I also belong to quite a few fb groups. Two groups are actually disgruntled Ledgies! :p For those who remember the great big cliques here, circa 2007-ish, one group of those people and I have become great friends. ACTUALLY, from that group, 5 of them are coming to my house this weekend, for a FM pool party. FM jamming all weekend, and the drinks will be a flowin'! And floating! lol

I'll admit when I first got on fb, that I was trying to build my friends list up, but I haven't sent an add to anyone, for a couple of years now. But again, when they request me, as long as we have mutual friends, I add them. But now, if they post too much, I unfollow them, so I don't have to read all their crap! :blob2:

I had the exact opposite experience with Facebook. All the politics, religion, personal exhibitionism, and hypocrisy made my blood boil. I felt like I saw everyone becoming trashy reality show caricatures of themselves. I saw how addicted to Facebook people came. And how it actually ended up hindering in-person human interaction. Folks ignoring those who were physically in the same room with just to update/check facebook- others having little to say to each other in person because they relay their entire lives on Facebook. I got rid of Facebook about a year ago and it's honestly been one of the best things I've ever done for myself. It just caused so much stress in my life.

The Westboro Baptist church, the extreme anti-gay group that has garnered national attention for years by picketing funerals — including the funerals of U.S. soldiers killed in action — with their placards bearing messages of hatred against gay people, now say that the group’s members will travel to war-torn Iraq to protest the Muslim religion.

But for their trip to Iraq, if indeed they follow through on their pledge, they will modify the slogan, as in the above photo, to read, “God Hates Islam,” along with other placards bearing such expressions of disdain for the world’s largest religion as “Muslims Die God Laughs” and “Muhammad = Lying False Prophet.”

I just had my credit card hijacked.I found out today as i was trying to pay my cable TV bill over the phone like I usually do.

So after that news I quickly call my CC company to see what happen.

My CC company put a block on it after it was compromised last Sunday with a charge from a company like Paypal in Germany .I never heard or dealt with the company before.

Lucky that I have fraud protection on my card and they took care of it and send me a new card in a couple of days.

The only thing I worried about is the sale of 24K from Warner Music going through.
My CC company said that Warner Music already put the charge on my card before this BS happen.I was so happy to hear the lady said that the $105 bucks was already charged to me probably last week before Sunday.

But I notice my shipment said it was billed today 09/24/2014.

They could pick up my card info from online or at the stores I shop at.

I dont like to shop online because of this reason but its the way now for shopping.

I have no idea how those idiots got my info but I will keep a watch out now.

I looked up the info online about the company that hijacked my card.
Alot of people had the same thing happen.

Its hard to kick any habit.I tried pot years ago and never got into it and made me drowsy and fall asleep .Thank goodness I did not caught on .Booze was a different story.Since I never liked the taste of beer I enjoyed the sweet tasting booze which taste like soda pop to me and later it kicked me in the ass when I tried to walk.LOL...

BINGO.

I got zero tolerance with those people. Why should I go home smelling like a drunk and did not have a drop.

Also I can add of losing friends, relatives ,family members do to drinking driving and health issues because of drinking.I have a friend that I grown up with which he went into the dry out center a few times and still doing it.Its to bad I cant help him with it.He's the same age as me and I known him since we were toddlers.went to school and graduate together.

Seen all that and I said thats enough .The booze is not going to take me hostage and kill me or somebody else.

NowI just had my credit card hijacked.I found out today as i was trying to pay my cable TV bill over the phone like I usually do.

I can sympathizes I had Eveything compromised in the Sony hacking license, bank account, passport social security number all things used as ID to work on films they are paying for one year of credit watch, and the FBI insisted I freeze my credit for several years, because if this thing with north Korea is not a PR stunt gone wrong then all the IDs from all the employees were probably sold to Russia and China and they are smart enough to know to wait on it before using it because it will be a watch for at least a year ... you're much better shopping online with a credit card or in a store than a debit card you have more protection using your credit card ,a debit card is the same as cash most banks will do nothing if something happens

This week was plumbing repair week here.

First I had to fix the furnace be replacing the condensation pump with pumps out the water out of the dehumidifier bucket.

Second .I had to replace the toilet float valve because it was hissing along and wasting water.

Third .As I was turning off the main water valve I notice the water pressure regulator was dripping around the diaphragm seal and the set screw which mean the diaphragm went south. Tonight the new unit was installed. Now pressure testing and checking for leaks.

Water pressure regulator regulates the high street water pressure down to 50 to 75 pounds. It conserves water too and also it keeps high pressure off your home fixtures.

Plumbing was one of the trades that I was going to get in years ago besides electronics.I should of takin the route.

The total cost was about $175 bucks for all the parts which is a cost of a FM tix.
Probably save about 350 bucks on labor charges from a plumber .

They have not heard from the relative in weeks. As I Googled the persons name and her obit came up on Jan 7 2015.

How sad.

This reminds me of loosing a friend that moved south to North Carolina from here 2005 I found out looking him up on Google since there was no return of emails from him for about a long time as time went by like 3 years later and found out that he got killed in a car accident in 2009.The last email I got from him was in March .He was killed on April 2009.

Recently a homeless in Naples has been brutally assaulted by a group of teenagers that insulted him for being Czech, have broken both his arms and legs and killed his dog hitting it with a bar when it tried to defend the master. The whole scene was filmed by the doers, who were of wealthy upbringing, around 15 and some were girls.
This man now is completely alone and a TV program that helps human cases interviewed him and spread his story yesterday and I cried in my room. Fortunately the community of the town this man lives in has moved to help him in any possible way but I can't help wondering what is becoming of humanity nowadays.
At least there's still a bit of hope as shown by the fellow countrymen.

Thats awful and sad. That crap happens here

yeah, we often say that Naples is the Italian Bronx...
There are a lot of cases like this in the news everyday but what striked me the most about this is that the man wasn't even a begging hobo, he tried to support himself as he could and he was very kind and reserved.
Also the fact that they raged against the dog that was his only inseparable companion... sometimes human are the real beasts.

Don't get me started on parenting.
I see kids acting like animals in the stores.Nevermind the cursing at 10 years old. I like to know what happen with the no spanking thing .

Sure. Parents, school and the whole community what were/are they doing?
School after parents is the most important source of personal development but school itself doesn't do anything to prevent, inform or address this issues and nobody even controls if these kids actually go to school.
And on top of it all, the attitude of the community people live and grew up in is fundamental. How many times have I heard parents and grandarents in bars or other public gatherings places They all should go away, They should return to their homeland, They steal all the jobs, We don't want them, There's nothing here for them, They are responsible for all the crimes committed etc.
I am against physical punishment butit doesn't mean that a one-time or two time slap should be on the same level of continued hitting used instead of educational measurement. The trouble is that most of the parents don't know how to be respected and explain to kids what is wrong and why without using violence but since they can't use violence they don't do anything at all.

I remember that a few years ago there was a little scandal at my high-school because a kid called my ex-teacher "whore/bitch" after she scolded him. She was the most cultured, well-read and educated teacher/person I've ever met but she was also very strict, proud and harsh (even if just) and she slapped him.
The kid put up a scene to make the principal fire her. In the end she apologized in front of the whole school.
I would never have thought that someone could ever feel justified to respond like this to a professor (nevermind her) and I would never have thought that a renowned teacher and human like her could have been fired for a kid like that.

When I had my storage bins years ago .They were a couple of homeless guys living in the bins they rented out at different times .Both had drinking issues.I chat with them at times when they were sober.

Me and my mother always chat with an african guy that sells socks at the local mall, We even give him 1$ when we can.

Millions of years of human evolution and here we are. I too feel so sad about the s**t that happens in the world sometimes.
Bad parenting and the media are to blame (kids can pretty much watch whatever they want to online these days and so few parents control the violent games their children play).

Spanking children is not the answer though.

I'm almost done completing my 5 day meal of stir fry chicken. Yesterday I sauteed the chicken and then marinated it over night in Teriyaki sauce with honey and splenda. I boiled red, yellow and green peppers yesterday as well. Right now I am sauteing 2 diced onions in olive oil while warming the mixture of the chicken and peppers with soy sauce added for flavor.I'm about to add some turmeric and some salt into the mix.I finally broke down and decided to buy an expensive wok with high sides and a nice cover to hold these large meals I love to make. The onions are ready to be combined. I wish you all could smell this amazing aroma rolling through my house. Yesterday I made my 5 day salad mixture of romaine lettuce with onions, radishes, celery, cucumbers and carrots.

"A book is something with a beginning and an end, a space where the reader has to enter, roam, maybe get lost but at some point find a way out, or maybe several ways out, the opportunity to open a way to snap out of it."

Italo Calvino, 15 October 1923 – 19 September 1985

I had forgotten how much I had loved this author until now. His publishing house is about to release a republication of his last work Six Memos for the Next Millennium, 5 lessons he was going to give at Harvard University before his death for a strock.
I think I'll try to purchase it and I suggest anyone to do as well as his lesson on the principle of "lightness" particularly striked me:

"After forty years of writing fiction, after exploring various ways and making diverse experiments, the time has come that I look for an overall definition for my work; I would suggest this: my working method has been more often than not the subtraction of weight; I tried to remove weight, sometimes from people, sometimes from heavenly bodies, sometimes from cities; above all I have tried to remove weight from the structure of the story and from language"

Really its apparently just a subset of asexual. However I've come to learn that that whole orientation and gender identity concept is purely personal and the whole idea of assigning labels is generally worthless. Far too much thought and time goes in to worrying about the sexuality and gender identity of others.

I just think some of these new categories, although they do exist, aren't surely a orientations.
I'm thinking particularly about the definition of "Demisexual" a person that can feel sexual attraction only when there's been established an emotional connection.
