Health insurance companies suck. I've been arguing with United Healthcare on behalf of a patient on & off for 10 months. They finally admitted yesterday that I was right - they billed her incorrectly. Now that she's in collections & has a mark on her credit report.

i HATE united healthcare, we had it for years~ they are atrocious to deal w/~ my husband's company just got blue cross blue shield & i think they are just as bad~ which sucks, my mom worked for them all my life & we got our insurance free when i was a kid~ they were awesome to deal w/~ now, not so much~

I've had a wonderful day with my friend. I should NOT be allowed in vinyl shops though. Ended up getting 3 Madonna, 1 fleetwood mac and the cabaret soundtrack! I'm also never ever getting the bus to and from Birmingham AGAIN! Takes the pi$$. I qued up for ages then some cow comes and knocks me out the way. I really hate rude people and pushing into a que is terribly un British ahaha! Then she sat near me and gave me daggers the whole journey so i ended up getting off at West Brom and got another bus aha! Oh and everytime i wear these 70s style print tights I always get one person say oo aren't they different lmfao.

Oh and Ashley and I broke up monday =\ I havent been telling people really cuz I've been hoping we'd get back together lol But idk if we are ='( We were talking one night and just figured that long term it wouldnt work...So we're still best friends and stuff...just w/o all the relationship stuff that goes with it....I am SOOOOO sad by this...Ashley is too obviously. Like we'll be driving and I'll go to hold her hand and I'll be like "oh wait..."

Lately Stevie's song "For What Its Worth" has really related to me and Ashley's relationship...so whenever i listen to it I cry...At the Boston show I tried SOOOOOO hard to not cry when Stevie sang it...

How ironic is it that incredible memories you have can make you so sad :(

This tends to happen when you realise that you'll never experience those moments again. Be it because the people/person you shared the memory with is no longer there, or merely that that particular stage of your life is long past. The challenge really is simply t0 improve on it. The memories will always be bitter-sweet, but it's better to have them rather than looking back and realising you did nothing worth remembering.

Couldn't of put it better myself. I guess I was just thinking too much again, so much has happened this past year. Sometimes i wish things would go back to how they were but i still have SO many positive things in my life and a lot to look forward to. I was just thinking about the people that was so prominent in my life this time last year aren't really there now. Well they are physically but nothing else. I still smile though and realise how lucky I am to have had these incredible moments. I guess life is still pretty sweet.. most of the time. aha. (:

I don't think you could go wrong with taking examples of your work to your interviews. They're of a great quality, and it's always good for a prospective boss to be able to see the standard of talent they're looking at. Do you have a portfolio of photographs of past work?

I think it would work for your benefit if you did take some kind of portfolio. It would show that you do take initiative and are eager to give a positive impression, as well as being proud of what you do. Bosses like to see confidence, without it bordering on arrogance.

Good luck with your interviews! I'm sure you'll do very well.

I don't blame you. When it comes to artistic courses, it's very difficult to "switch off". I've been working directly through my break, so I have a nice collection of "back work" to help when I sink myself into a firm project. As of yet I'm not completely sure what i'm doing, but I can't shake the deep desire to create a frieze of John Lennon delivering the sermon on the mount :p

Isn't it always the case that ideas come at the most inconvenient/strange times? I've had them at a funeral before (don't judge me :p). It would be fantastic if they'd just invent a printer that could hook up to your mind and print off canvases and such of exactly the image that is in your head at that moment.

LOL at a funeral, bad but I laughed. I sometimes have them when people are talking to me and i'm just off in my own head, or when i'm on my own on the bus. I tend to put them in my phone then. Yes! Oh how i wish that happened. It sucks when things don't work out how you would like. We do this to ourselves because we care about what we do. I haven't gotten to bed before 3am for three years, and I'm starting to not even mind it. Just feels normal to me to be sleep deprived lol. Just a little concerning that Margaret Thatcher existed on 4 hours of sleep a night and I'm close to that. To be honest with you, even I don't know how I do it. I must be running on fumes lol. There are some days that are spent in a zombie like haze, but as long as I can be at least a little productive during that time it's worth it. Sketchbook work is very therepeautic.... for the most part. Not when you're as anal and OCDish as myself.I like things to be uniform and consistent, and when it's not it drives me up the wall. I would love to have a lot of positive things to say about my Uni Tutors. But for the most part they're absent. My first year Tutor (baring in mind that our course is broken into disciplines, so I'm only referring to the Painting area which is my major), Howard, was very good despite how flaky he was. He'd wander off in the middle of a sentence, but he was enthusiastic. He was almost childlike in his enthusiasm and willingness to help. He retired at the end of the first year. Second year was a trainee Tutor who didn't exactly know what she was doing. But she tried to help as much as she could. She's been forced out by lack of funding. So who knows who we'll get as a tutor this coming year, as they can't afford to hire a Painting tutor. Last year was almost self taught, with the occasional visit from the new tutor and my Drawing Studies tutor (whom otherwise we saw once a week for a few hours for Drawing Studies). My course is actually in a very dire situation, teaching wise. I'm just glad it's my final year.

Thats actually terrible. It takes the piss when you're paying and often getting in a lot of debt for a course and you're not even equip with teachers that do the job. I hope you actually get a decent teacher for your final year. I know i'm lucky with the teaching situation but as good as they are they are often really dippy my one tutor bless him is lovely and good but he don't half go off on a tangen which is frustrating when you just want to go and get on with it. I guess i'm lucky that my tutors actually turn up. When I did media studies for the two years it was the best experience of my life. The tutors were incredible at their job and the people were amazing. I often wish i would of stayed and did the HND in that.

So there are a half dozen wildfires burning out of control in every part of my county right now. I just took this picture:

Those are not clouds on the horizon, that's the giant 20,000 acre fire burning east of Austin which is currently 0% contained. I had to darken the picture for the smoke to show up... it's so much scarier looking in person.

It's pretty frightening... this one wildfire alone is 20 miles long and 5 miles wide. It's not even known how many people have lost their homes because it's impossible to get anywhere near the fire to even attempt to contain it, much less assess the damage.

That I had my interview with the salon in Acton today. Its not hard to get to and its in a wicked cute location. The guy was wicked nice and told me the ins and outs...pretty much he likes people who arent lazy...HELLO THATS ME lol at school I was ALWAYS doing stuff! I think he liked that I had my certificate in hair extensions because they do feather extensions. I told him I am wicked good with color and highlights and that I am very comfortable with hair cuts...except the diagonal forward haircuts lol

I just really hope I get this!!! When he calls me and if I get it I gotta bring a friend in to do a haircut so he can see how I work.

Well I just got some really bad news. The ****tiest of news, in fact. They're discontinuing my course at University. In fact they're shutting down the entire Art department. Because it's a Leeds University (even though it's being run on the Bradford Campus) degree, I don't know what will happen this year. We could be requested to commute to Leeds every day, every week for the year. Which I just cannot afford. I'm hoping desperately that they'll run the course for this last year for the current years working through their Degree. Because if they don't...I'll lose out on my money because I'll need to drop out. I can't afford to go through the three years again whilst incurring more debt, living in a new city with no money, so I'd have to drop out and just get a job.

I need this degree if I have any hope of getting out of my city and making something of myself. I feel sick right now. I knew my past few days of luck were too good to last.

The sea changes colours...but the sea...Does not change.

But seriously...urine is either clear to varying degrees of yellow depending on hydration levels in your body or vitamin consumption. Unless, of course it's redish, which could be many things indeed. But changing colors, like blue to yellow for instance:confused: THAT would freak me out! Hope everything checks out ok, markolas:angel:

Woah, Bee, that's a pretty bad worst-case scenario :( although, I'd be 99% certain that if they're discontinuing the course that will mean they won't start anyone else on it, but those already doing it can finish it. Sorta how if you started a course this year, you pay the old tuition fee for the duration. If they make you go do it at another Uni, couldn't you do student accommodation for a year or so?

lol The doctor thinks it's nothing, but went ahead and did a urine test. It was dark yellow this morning (kind of brownish), then it was clear after I drank some water, then it was kind of a yellowish pink later, then back to the dark yellow.

This should probably be in the dearly departed TMI thread.

I'm hoping that it is a case of "those here can finish, but nobody else in". It wouldn't be fair of them if we just turned up and found out that we had no course. But it's just the sort of sneaky thing my college has done in the past. I wouldn't be able to afford to live in student accommodation for the final year. It would mean getting a job on top of Uni. And because my I'm on a course containing four courses (if that makes sense) which is VERY labour intensive, the hours would literally kill me. The only person I know who has a job and is on the course is just scraping by, grade wise. The rest have dropped out over the two years I've been there. I'll just have to hope and pray, because I don't know what I'd do if the worst case happened. Might have to enrol for my final year at your Uni and kip on your couch, lol! j/k

I'm thinking it wouldn't be allowed for them to just boot you all out now. Have you had any re-enrolment emails or anything? I'm starting to get my seminar sign-up emails this week. Also, have you tried looking at student-specific accommodation? I would have thought a maintenance loan would cover that? My friend's-boyfriend's-step-mum (phew) is hooking me and my friend up with a two bedroomed apartment for £35 a week, so it's normally way cheaper than living in a non-student place.

We have enrolment on the twelfth, but that doesn't mean a thing. The last time they cancelled a course, the used the enrolment date to let the students know they no longer had a course to come to. I've been looking into that kind of thing, but mainly out of the city because my MA is DEFINITELY not going to be in Bradford. I've been so disappointed by this course as it is. I'll have to start looking in the morning, just in case I have to make a very swift move :( At least I have a long weekend in December to look forward to with Viv just in case I'm screwed over course wise. Would need something to look forward to, lol.

That's Bradford, for you.

Well the course is a Leeds Met course, despite it being on the Bradford Campus. Leeds, I've heard, have their own problems so don't really want to take on more students. If worse comes to it I'll just have to see if I can have a quick transfer/move to the nearest Uni. I've no idea where though, mind lol.

I went to see one day with my friends on wednesday and it sucked compared to the book. GUTTED because i adored the book, Then last night i stayed over my friends where we ate lot's of pizza, had vodka and coke and played on the wii dance. I cannot dance, i look like a snail dancing... impossible but imagine it.. thats me. But we danced to Cher and Blondie so it was all good. My friends friend was also there and she got so drunk and just sat there crying.. then we watched Liza Minnelli movies because i am slightly obsessed with her. It was fun (: we went to bed at half 6 this mrning, had three hours sleep then i had to get three buses home which took over 3 hours-ARGH!!

I'm already on the highest student loan available, which wouldn't stretch to accommodation and bills, etc. I'll figure something out. I have a friend in Leeds who has an empty attic. If I beg and plead I could stay in her attic while attending the Leeds uni. Hopefully it won't come to that because I know she'd prefer to keep the space for her studio.

Oh, and by the way. If somebody could come over with a shotgun, preferably double barrel, that would be much appreciated. For the second consecutive day I have Bananarama stuck in my head (Talking Italian) and....IT. MUST. END! uck.

The one thing I hated and never wanted, is now what I long for and probably can't have........ How wonderful!!! I've been crying off and on all weekend. Trying to just not think about it. Put I just had to type this and put it in the universe! I'm scared sh_tl_ess and I don't know what to do. Smh....

On the flipside, I'm trying to cheer myself up by saying that if I can't have kids then I can go ahead and get nip/tuck'd right now! Lol! I've been waiting for a lil rugrat to come first but ta hell with that then! I can go get sexified!!!!! Smh......

FML!

Great news about your mom! I know it's just natural to think of the worst thing in a situation like the one you're in but try to stay positive. Don't torture yourself untill you know for certain. <3

JTIS that I picked a scab off of my leg (okay, more like my a$$, aiight?), and to my utter horror and dismay, it left a blood stain on my white wool boucle sofa. In an utter panic, I looked around for a bottle of... anything... and I came up empty-handed. For some reason I thought of Margaret Cho and one of her more, uh, graphic monologues, which included some random tidbit about her "heavy flow" days and her trick for getting the, uh, "evidence" off of the mattress. I remember her saying that blood stains can only be removed with the saliva of the person whose blood caused the stain. I figured it was an old wives tale, but I was desperate. I grabbed a paper towel, spit into it, rubbed the blood stain and hoped for the best. It worked! Buh-bye blood! :wavey: Take that, Heloise!

Bug bite? Zit? I have had a virtually life-long affliction with zits here and there. I can't even wear normal underwear. I tried applying benzoyl peroxide creams and such down there, but all it ever did was ruin several pairs of pants. Old age has helped to clear it up for the most part, but every once in a while I will get one that persists for months.

To be honest with you, and I mean this kindly, but if you get over him because you spend some time apart, it sounds like little more than infatuation and lust. Enjoy it while it lasts, but I just don't see it lasting long if you do take the plunge and have that conversation.

Well, you could very well be right. Then again, I'll probably never say anything at all to be honest.. knowing me.

But there was a lot of stuff that happened in those two months regarding a friend of mine (I use friend loosely, now) who decided to start pursuing him after she knew that I liked him, which really discouraged me from it all because then I felt like I was crossing a line with her, which is kind of weird logic but.. anyway. She would always ask me for advice regarding him, knowing ALL of this, and so it put me in a really weird position. It wasn't so much that I didn't care about him anymore, just that I couldn't really do anything because it seemed like something was gonna happen with them so I was trying to back off.

I actually don't agree with this at all. You don't need to have an all-consuming and unforgettable connection with someone to have a healthy, lasting, relationship with them. If you really want to give it a shot with this guy then broach the subject, as hard as it might be. Good luck. Please let us know how it goes.

browsing through the 48734874 vinyls today that mainly consisted of Barry Manilow (i have an irrational fear of him, don't judge) and status quo i found the "fleetwood Mac" one. I got ever so excited and got it. I always get excited when i see something Stevie Nicks or Fleetwood Mac because I am incredibly normal. It said it was £3.25 but when i got to the till it was just over a pound. RESUUUUUUUULT.

I also got a 1960s dress and sunglasses from the small vintage shop in town for my twiggy/1960s inspired shoot so i am so happy. And i got the most gorgeous dress for me from outfit on sale for £20. AAAAAAND my Janis Joplin book came so today has been grand. I was with my friend so we went for lunch at Frankie and Benny's and had such a fun day so i'm in a really great mood. (:

I haven't froze in 2 years or seen snow. Down here you don't realize it's winter until you get those occasional cold fronts overnight maybe about December-January but even then it's nothing like the arctic blast of up north and I think I only used the heat a couple nights last year when it got really chilly out. But mostly your houses stay moderate at room temperature until the cold fronts move down. Maybe just a jacket at night if you're out. I don't even own a winter coat anymore. Just jackets hoodies and sweatshirts. I do miss fall though, it's so pretty...

Are you sure he wasn't just using that as a euphemism for working her hard? Perhaps merely another way of saying he's going to kick her assets in the gym? I don't think he would literally "smack" a lady at his place of work.

aww i'm a newbie too. :D I've always loved older music though like the stones so i was constantly finding new music.. well music that was new to me. I know i really really want Stevie to do some UK gigs... but FM are looking at touring next year so they will do the UK then.. so maybe thats the next time Stevie will do UK gigs. (yn) well even if you did go by yourself theres always meet ups so you wouldn't technically be on your own. I really really want a Kate tour though but i actually don't think i could drag anyone to her aha. I mentioned her to my mom the other day and she looked at me like oh no. LOL. I would just love to see Patti Smith live so if she ever did the UK i deffo would have to go by myself because noone knows who she is (their loss) i saw Cyndi Lauper in June and literally forced my little brother to come with me, i felt so bad because he had no idea who she was aha. Thats the wayu it is with me, if i can't force my friends then sometimes my auntie will come or i just drag my poor brother. :L He was happy though i got him ice cream :L

Not to delve, but where has Vivfox been lately? Just unusual not seeing him on posting. Along with a few others who've been MIA or a little quiet this past summer.

I've been wondering that myself. It's eerie not seeing his strange signatures every day or reading the latest instalment of his acerbic, often sexual oriented wit. Maybe he's taking some time out to stalk Stevie whilst trying to pick up Latino males. Sounds like the perfect trip for him, going by past conversations I've had with him :p

I can't believe one of the FIRST year Students, ie. The Newbies, just told me off for using the PC Suite. They told me in no uncertain terms that it was for Students only. What do you think I am? A vagrant? I'm Third year. I could slap you and the Tutors would turn a blind eye. Why is this year's crop of first years so full of Chavs and Pikeys? This year is going to drive me barmy. Thank Buddha it's my final year.

aww i'm a newbie too.

Yay for newbie-ness :)
I'm so excited for 2012, I can't even put it into words, it'll be my first FM tour, if they do tour that is, and I can't wait ! :D

OMG she was immense. I've saw loads of people live but she was by far the best. And she sang fearless which is my favourite song by her ever and i never expected her to sing it because it's never on the set list. I had to try so hard not to cry ahaha. If you ever get the chance go see her live!!!

I finally got a fleetwood mac shirt from topshop. Last week i literally went in every topshop around by me but they had none then me and my friend decided to go to merry hill.. or merry hell as it's known today and i found one in amongst the beatles tops. I actually squeeled.

What Fleetwood Mac shirt did you get? I have a few myself. Ahhh! I have never seen a Mac shirt in the shops. I had to buy most of mine online, though the Unleashed was obviously at the show itself.

I went back today. Am so knackered. We've already started the briefs for our final year of work, as well as the fact that we have to organise our own end of year show in conjunction with the rest of the year, put together our own catalogue, work on our dissertation and put together a seminar. Yeesh. And it is looking like this is the final third year group, as I thought. They're talking about top up courses consisting of only two years from now on.

My intent was not to put you down Cookie! My apologies if you seriously feel that way.

All of those things you just mentioned about verbal harassment and personal attacks... they all fall under that rule don't they. Playfully insulting people is one thing, but dancing along the edge of that line? No need for stuff like that here. There are other boards where people can go in and behave like they're in Thunderdome.
