What's pathetic is the person that particpated in the creation of the release denies involvement, yet there are obvious clues within the writing style. Press will be covering the concert not this fan LOOK-AT-ME event.

Oy, weekend!
So we had that outdoor music fest thingie Cute Guitar Boy's band was playing in, which was the first time I've gotten to see them live, and dudes, they rock. I knew they were really good from listening to the CD he gave me, but I didn't know they were THAT good, so I was about 75 kinds of impressed.
I'd been to a similar event several times in PA, where a private land-owner opens up a field or two to the unwashed masses for a lot of camping and loud music and drinking and drug use, so it was like high school again, awwww. I was terribly nervous about meeting all of his friends at once like that, but they were all super cool and seemed to like me fine, so that worked out well.
Except for the one girl giving me death glares that would give Stevie a run for her money all weekend. Apparently, she did not like me being there with him. I kept waiting for her to come over and try to pull my hair or something, but fortunately, she just beamed hatred from afar.
So I had a total blast, even if I had to do the traditional Jager Bomb on stage with the band and their various womenfolk. I hate those damn things. They taste like cough syrup.
They've got another show this Saturday, and this one is all ages, so he asked the kids if they'd like to come along. You'd have thought they'd just won the Puppy Lottery and he'd dumped 17 small cocker spaniels on their laps, they were so pleased. D'aww.

OMG, I just found out this morning that Grinderman is going to be in Chicago in November. So naturally, I start frantically texting Cute Guitar Boy, begging him to take me, and he just called back and said, "Hell yeah, we're going," so....YAY NICK CAVE OMG. So excited.
Also, here is a video for a new song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rgm2xLjMxjk&feature=related) from the forthcoming new Grinderman album they'll be touring for, Grinderman 2, called "Heathen Child." Badass song, with a completely berzerk video. Oh, Mr. Cave and Mr. Ellis, you never disappoint me. Video NSFW, though, due to nudity, so watch at your own discretion.

I broke my iPod Touch :( Was having a lovely day in Windermere yesterday when I felt the urge to go into my bag and listen to a little music. Of course in doing so I realised that my Apple Juice had leakes EVERYWHERE. I only just managed to save my Mick Fleetwood book unscathed before pulling out my sticky iPod. For half of the day I was trying and failing to get it to work after drying it off until, miraculously, it began top get better and i could use it again. But uncomfortunately sections of the "typewriter" are now unable to function, so my googling days are over when it comes to my little Jeremiah :(.But at least he's alive and I can listen to him.
BTW, Enchanted Stevi and Sahara have AWESOME signatures ;)

Apart from cutting it off, you could always just find a dye that's close to your natural color and do your whole head. Just make sure you do the ends first & leave it on longer so your roots aren't still darker.
I don't really ever do "normal" hair colors, but my natural color is so dark brown, it might as well be black.
And now I'm singing "Black No. 1" out loud.
"Yeah, you wanna go out
'Cos it's rainin' and blowin.'
You can't go out,
'Cos your roots are showin'
DYE 'EM BLACK!"

I would NEVER cut my hair that short lol I usually do color my hair close to my natural hair color. Ever since I went blonde before a few years ago, no matter what dark color I color my hair the blonde always re-appears LOL
Your natural hair color is mine too LOL When I was little people would say my hair is black and I'd be like "NO! Its really really dark brown!"
I usually color my hair either blonde or brown and lately I've been in a brown mood. Blonde makes me look more mature, but my brown hair makes me look my age...plus I like the dark mysterious look =)

Fun day!!!
Cute Guitar Boy's band played an all ages show tonight, so he invited the kids along, and we had a total blast. Some of the other dudes in the band also have small children, so they brought theirs along, too. Nothing like a herd of kids under the age of twelve headbanging their little hearts out to make a mama like me so damn proud.
Bonus terrible quality BlackBerry pics of aforementioned Cute Guitar Boy being awesome:
http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv335/nowgozombiego/IMG00302.jpg http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv335/nowgozombiego/IMG00296.jpg http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv335/nowgozombiego/IMG00297.jpg
Yeah, this is what it sounds like when doves cry/Zombie ends up completely smitten with a cute boy. Sigh.
Oddly enough, that was not the highlight of the day, though. We'd kicked the day off with a late lunch at Steak n Shake, where we ended up with hideous serivce from a total meth head waitress that greeted us with, "Hi, I'm your waitress. I will be right back to get your order, because I have to go to the bathroom!" and then proceeded to make googly eyes at Cute Guitar Boy for the remainder of our visit. At one point, the food was taking so long that he stepped outside to have a cigarette and she actually FOLLOWED him. He immediately turned around and came back in with a "WTF" look on his face and I almost lost it. Trying to stifle that kind of laughter is just physically painful.
So yeah - hey, waitress! I totally understand wanting to make googly eyes at Cute Guitar Boy, cos I am susceptible to the same thing...but if you have enough leisure time to take a smoke break in order to follow my completely uninterested gentleman caller outside, then one would imagine you would ALSO have enough leisure time to actually refill my pop some time this century and also freakin' pay attention so you don't bring us the wrong food after we've been waiting for forever and a day.
You're lucky I believe in peace, bitch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SK7kQtuJwpE), or you'd have been wearing your ass for an attractive and fashion-forward hat.
And while that WOULD cover up the hot mess that is your meth mouth, it's also going to make it rather awkward to keep up the glass habit.
I'm just sayin.'
Oh, but - thanks for giving me an actual relevant reason to link to that mind-blowing performance of "The Waitress" up there. For that, I salute you.

Why do I always seem to attract drunken bums when I'm standing minding my own business at the bus stop? Granted he was a Fleetwood Mac fan, something I found out when he came up to me and pulled one my earphones out to listen to without even saying hello to me (Sweet Girl if you're wondering). But that did NOT give him the right to rub against me, offer me a drink from his can of beer every five seconds and ask me to come back to his place. It would have been better if one of the men around me at the stop would have stuck up for the 21 year old woman who looks more like a thirteen year old, instead of simply standing there pretending not to see it. Good to know that chivelry is still alive...

Everything. Everything about that gives me the creeps, especially the part about you looking like a 13-year-old. He probably thought you were a kid! Well, I know I would have gone all Chris Hanson on his a$$ if I was there!
Perhaps a little vial of pepper spray would be a wise investment...

Yes! Nothing like a day of wine tastings. :) My sister lives on the South Fork. Beautiful area, but I still prefer the NoFo (nice abbreviation). Much more laid back and obviously familiar and homey to me. Do you ever spend any "off season" time at your home? So much more quiet and peaceful during the fall and winter months.

I hadn't thought about the whole childlike thing really until you pointed that out :( Lovely *shudder*. I've always looked too young for my age and I think I'll be around fourty five before I can go to a bar and be served without ID lol. I was lucky I had my wits about me really. He thought my iPod was an iPhone so I pretended to get a call and walked away. Had to wait another hour for my bus because he was getting on the one I would have gotten onto but it was worth it. Didn't want to risk him figuring out where I lived. I've never heard of Pepper Spray being sold in England but I'll see if I can get it imported lol. Worth it if it keeps myself and my iPod free of Drunken Bum Chiggers. I was lucky I had my hand sanitizer spray with me (a bit germaphobic) so I could spray my bud before I put it back in my ear :s

I do spend some winter weekends out there- mostly to do laundry and cook- but I actually find it kind of depressing sometimes. The icy wind coming off the water is so awful and most of the local businesses are shut down until spring. And because of its far eastern location, the sky starts to get dark a little before 4PM, which is also no fun. I'm a summer person, so unless I'm actively doing something like skiing, winter is just a time to get fat and hibernate for me.

Oh, trust me, you won't be saying that in another ten years. Youth is wasted on the young, as the old saying goes...

For Silver Springs, Georgie, and Dani -
Alas, it doesn't actually matter what you look like when you're out and about - some men will always think that just the fact that you've had the temerity to both leave the house AND be female gives them free reign to say/do whatever they want.
If someone is making you uncomfortable, that is not okay and you need to let them know it's not okay. I used to sort of just take it, but when I was about 16, a man literally physically dragged me out of my friend's car window while we were sitting in a parking lot in front of a store, and no one helped me - not even my friend. I got away from him and dealt him a good kick in the balls before I ran into the store, but that situation scared me so badly that I decided the next time ANYONE said or did anything I didn't like, I was going to let them know in no uncertain terms.
So when a guy is an ass to me, I'm now an ass back. And if I see a guy making another woman uncomfortable, but she's not sticking up for herself for whatever reason, you can bet your ass I'm right there telling the guy to f*ck off. More often than not, it works like a charm, and I think it's because many women don't do or say anything back to them when they behave like that.
Example: Saturday night, I am standing in line at the gas station by myself (Cute Guitar Boy stayed in the car to keep an eye on the kiddos), and some dude in front of me starts leering, and then informs me that he just got off work at the strip club. Where he's a stripper. "Which means naked," he says.
"How nice for you," I deadpan.
"You should come out some time, I'll give you a dance," he says.
"Oh man! Thanks for the invite! I have to go see the doctor tomorrow about this whole syphilis of the gums thing I've got going on, but if it clears up by next weekend, I will totally be there!" says me.
He stopped talking after that.
If the situation is more serious than something like that, though - then feel free to say, "NO," or "LEAVE ME ALONE," or "GET AWAY FROM ME," or "DO NOT TOUCH ME." And if the guy doesn't stop, then you make more noise. Use your best judgment, of course, but I find that a little intimidation or fighting back goes a long way. Most of these idiots aren't used to anyone saying anything back, so it often startles them into shutting up and going away.
And if someone grabs you like I got grabbed back in the day, then, if you can, you fight like hell and give him a reason to NEVER do something like that again.
Sorry for the rant, but I hate that crap.

Yeah, it sucked. Scared the crap out of me. I've had guys grab me since (most recently, the next door neighbor - that was an even worse situation, because I could not physically fight back for various reasons and had to get out of there without kicking him and running).
I don't know if it's confidence so much as righteous anger, though. :xoxo:
I'm not suggesting you put yourself into a situation where you could get hurt due to your response to such behavior, or anything - go with your gut. But if someone is seriously bothering you and there are other people around, like your bus stop situation, you can probably get a firm "Leave me alone" out there and have it be effective.
I don't know why I get creepers bothering me as much as I do - I don't exactly look like I'm in the mood for ANYONE's crap, and I'm not what you'd call conventionally attractive. But it happens and happens. People suck. So when they suck in your direction, let them know. ;)

Doc Marts don't work  I go there every day of my life. My leather armour has to be washed over night because I don't go out without it. Once walking down the street in Manchester I had my usual attire of Dr Martens, Sex Pistols shirt, shredded jeans and leather jacket and still some old guy leered. I'm like COME ON DUDE! My friend Debbie, who I was with at the time, is much prettier than I am and he left her alone
Most recently, I was working in the record store and this THING came in drunk as a skunk talking to me about Generation X. The amount of times I said "I don't like Generation X" is innumerable yet he still badgered until I said "Lion, I turned 15 on Tuesday, you're putting yourself in a bad situation" and went upstairs to continue valuing the records. I hate it and yet it's just so prevelant and accepted where I live
Annie, I'm so sorry to hear what that guy did to you and frankly disgusted at those who did nothing to help you. I'm glad you got away :(

Haha, your store story reminds me of a similar thing that happened to me. When I was 14, I was working under the table at a local amusement park (Conneaut Lake, for Marissa, since she'll know of which I speak), running the kiddie train ride, and this dude kept asking me to come down to the bar with him on my break for a drink. I finally said, "I'm 14." You never saw someone backpedal so fast, it was hilarious.
But yeah - I was disgusted, too. Not so much at my friend, though I would (and HAD) saved her from bad situations repeatedly over the years, because she is quite small and timid and prone to going tharn like a bunny in headlights, but there were other people around, and I was screaming like a banshee. And it was in broad daylight. Some people are INSANE.
I'm quoting this entire thing because it needs to be read again and again. I love you. And going further back, I love CGB. He's almost as much of a catch as you are. Well actually, he's most likely not Jesus so I rescind some of the strength of that statement. Dude srsly, I'm pumped for you.

I love you, too. And I also want to say that I'm not condemning anyone that doesn't "fight back" for whatever reason - if someone is harassing you, that's his fault, not yours, regardless of your reaction or what you feel you can or can't do about the situation. ALWAYS his fault. Don't care what you're wearing, what you look like, where you're walking, where you work, how old you are, where you're standing, if you previously didn't mind the attention until he said something out of line, whatever.
But I do always try to advocate for women, especially young ones, to stand up and say something if and when they feel they can, because as Georgie commented about it being so acceptable and prevalent in her area - it will only continue to be that way if we can't somehow teach these asshats otherwise.
And re: CGB, fanks! I will tell him the Jesus comment, for it will amuse him greatly. :xoxo:

Haha. They started me out on the Duck Pond, which was hideous, but every new worker had to start there, apparently. After that, I went between the kiddie train up front, the arcade part with the Skee-Ball (this is why I am Skee-Ball Champeen of the World - I spent so many hours playing that summer), and the one game where you shoot water into the tube to ring the bell or whatever. That one was also hideous, because people think shooting the attendant with the water gun is funny.
It is not funny. Ever.
But yeah, I love Conneaut, too. Last time I was up there was for Thunder on the Lake last summer.

Yeah, people do that. Not just dumb kids, either, but adults, too. They think it's a laugh riot. I always wondered if they would still think it was a laugh riot if I vaulted over the counter and crammed the gun down their throats while it was still spraying.
But vaulting over the counter would have been a bad idea, because all the wood in that bank of booths was so rotten, I wouldn't trust it to support me. The floor behind those counters was NASTY, too, and the back rooms were even worse.
But yeah, I'm pretty tall for a chick. Always have been.

Sounds like I made it up. I wish I did....At least the IQ of my genetics wouldn't have fallen dramatically...
LOL! And I thought the drivers on LI were dumb. Just today, this guy in an old-school Chevy pickup truck decided he didn't like being in the lane he was in and decided to switch...all while coming a few inches from my bumper. Okay, I'm really considering a third tattoo once I get to Boston. I'm leaning towards...

I worked at a convenience store, while I was in college, and there was a rash of holdups, for awhile. The late night guy, that took over for me, at 11, always kept a soft drink cup full of bleach, next to the register, to throw in the robber's eyes. Well, I'm pulling out of the parking lot, and look up, and he accidentally took a big gulp(pun not intended) of the bleach. He's wretching, and spitting like a madman. I was trying not to laugh. OMG. BLEACH. SCARY.
The bleach story and Jannie's peroxide mishap reminded me of a friend I had back in elementary school, Brett, whose brother was a big fan of chewing tobacco. The brother would usually spit into a plastic cup equipped with a paper towel, but one summer day, he apparently forgot the cup while out in the garage working on his car, and used a mostly empty can of Dr. Pepper instead.
Yeah, you can imagine what happened next - Brett walked by, and said, "Can I have a drink of your pop?" but before any of us could yell "NO!" he'd taken a giant swig.
Y'all, I have never seen so much vomiting in my life, and I have since had two children, several bouts of food poisoning, some ridiculous flus, and watched family members go through chemo.

Nemo (my cat) was just diagnosed with liver disease. He's been sick for about a week now and hasn't been eating so my mother took him to the vet. We now have to force feed him prescription food, I have to drop pills down his throat once a day, and my mother has to stick him with the thickest needle ever to get fluid inside of him.
F-U-N! I care about his life so it's all worth it anyway.
I've been thinking about this situation for a couple of days now which forced me to dream about Snifflitt last night, and she's been deceased for 3 and a half years. I loved her like she was my own child and totally feel your pain Michelle. I can't wait until you report that Nemo is eating normally again and that his disease has improved.

Caitlin don't take this the wrong way; I'm not trying to be mean or unsympathetic, but at least you still have her with you. I'm sure you realize that what was done to my Mom was absolutely absurd. And completely unacceptable. There was a phrase I came across recently in "Of Human Bondage" that described it perfectly: "It was not true that he would never see her again. It was not true simply because it was impossible."
The "Long Kiss Goodbye" really is REALLY hard. Pretty much unbearable.
But - you'll see her again. So try to be happy that you still have time left.
Not to be a total bummer - I'm just trying to say "count your blessings" because it really is true that this isn't just "the other guy" that this happens to.

He took up the living room as his home when he first got back from the vet.
He sat in the same chair for a few days, then moved to under the coffee table, and then behind the tv.
Now he's upstairs in my room. I guess that's something...
He's cleaning himself now which is a good sign. Now if I can get him to go to the bathroom I would be happy.

JTIS that in 2007, Tarantino and Rodriguez brought us the joy that was Grindhouse, and displayed a wondermous prevue for a clearly high class film called Machete right before Planet Terror:
(warning: there are boobs & also swearing)
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Gp_dJkwQAds?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Gp_dJkwQAds?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
And lo! It has FINALLY come to pass! Machete opens today, and you can bet your sweet ass that my sweet ass will be in a seat. Because it's Danny freakin' Trejo, y'all.
And Cheech Marin as a priest.
And Michelle Rodriguez with an eyepatch.
...and Lohan in a nun costume? Huh.
Whatever! I'm still goin' with "awwwww yeah."
Here's the new updated trailer (no boobs, but still some swearing):
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hIxcVzwLR1k?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hIxcVzwLR1k?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
These are the sorts of things that please me greatly, you dig.
Now I just need Rob Zombie to get on making Werewolf Women of the SS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLcmAwBJgng) (suppose I should warn that there's boobs in that one, too. Also Nicolas Cage) so I can stop hating him so much all the time, and things will be pretty darn good here in Zombistan.

Sit on the floor on your knees with the Cat inbetween them and pin him down (Effectively you're sitting on him lol). Then draw his head up and open his mouth to drop the pills in before holding his mouth tightly closed until he has nothing to do but swallow. That's what I do. That was my method for the last few days (only I used a towel so I didn't have to sit on him). But, I didn't feel like doing it at the time so I just tilted his head back, dropped the pill in, saw the claws, said "OUCH!!", and saw the pill hitting the ground. I went to go rinse my finger of blood, poured on a cap full of hydogen peroxide, and had success the second time I did it.

Cats are too clever at spitting pills out!! Max, my dog had to have a ton of antibiotics and wormer and he's so stupid that I just put them in Frankfurter sausage chunks and he didn't realise what he'd eaten. My mum's cat is just as bad as Nemo sounds, he has to have one of those little things that looks like a syringe that 'fires' the tablet down his throat as such. My vet also told me to massage their throats to encourage them to swallow.

My dad may be taking a job opportunity 8 hours away in San Diego. My mom may or may not be coming with us. I actually think this would be really good for us-- I feel like a bad person for wanting my parents to separate. It's about time, though...

I understand why you would, but you really shouldn't feel bad for thinking a separation might be a good idea...after all, you've had to live with them and whatever problems they may have. Sometimes a little space can be a really positive thing for people who have been together a really long time. It will force them to figure things out instead of just letting things slide.

I can understand completely, honey. Things have been horrible at my home thanks to an infidelity on my Father's part. And I'm not sure our sanities are coping that well under the strain of arguments and walking on egg shells. The only thing that scares me is because my Dad's disabled, he'll need somebody to care for him where my Mother used to. It's a really difficult situation. But I hope that if your parents do seperate, they'll re-discover their happiness and be better and happier people for it.

Both GypsyBlueEyes & Silver Springs are right - don't feel bad. Whether they're together or not, if it's better...then it's better, you know? I know that parents separating is usually really hard on kids (and the parents, too), but if you already KNOW they're not really doing that well together, then you're already a step ahead in that department. Probably doesn't make it easier in the short term for anyone, but long term...you see what I mean.
< anecdata - your mileage may vary, of course >
As you know, I have two small jackals of my own. I often advise friends that are in very unhappy relationships but wanting to stick it out "for the kids" that doing that is perhaps not the ideal way to go in the long run. My kids' father was a wonderful guy, but we just did NOT work in a romantic sense - we tried forcing it "for the kids" for a (too) long while, but it was just awful.
Neither of us was happy, and we fought constantly and furiously over spectacularly dumb crap. Finally, we decided to just quit it, and we went back to being best friends. It was a hard decision to make, but we put on our big kid pants and did it.
And then about a year later, he passed away.
So even though I firmly believe that it would have been the best decision we could have made for our family in any case, I will always be so damned grateful that we did it when we did. It gave us a year of being able to hang out and have fun together before he had to go, and that's all the kids remember now - that we were fun, that we all loved each other, that we were doing well.
He died 6 years ago last Thursday and I still miss him more than I have words for, but as weird as it sounds, if there's anything good in that situation, us breaking up was it. < /anecdata >

I think I just rewound about six years of my life. I just ran into my ex girlfriend in a Wellesley dining hall. All of my friends were in class, so I was sitting alone. She had a table full of people around here.
I was honestly upset.
Excuse me while I go remember how to think like a grown up.

Don't feel bad, I'm 30 and still have issues with thinking like a grown person, especially when it comes to an ex. I run into my ex lady pretty often and it's okay if she's alone but when she's with mutual friends I am reduced to 3rd grade thinking. My thoughts are something like this - How dare she hang out with mutual friend! I'm never going to talk to mutual friend again! Mutual friend was my friend first! I always knew mutual friend liked my lady! Well guess what mutual friend, my lady never thought you were attractive and that's because you're not! My ex is doing this on purpose! Ugggg! Screw em!
I did not act on these thoughts thank goodness. I held it together and acted (or pretended to be) a grown up. I have to "fake it til I make it" sometimes.

To me, your sig pic has always been so much more. When I look at it, I see an awesome montage of motivational posters that we have to provide our own captions for.
For me, it's:
"Scurvy sucks! Eat a damn orange already! Tic-Tacs don't count!"
"You don't need clothes to look awesome as long as you have snazzy neckwear!"
"The LBD is the perfect garment for every woman, even if you look like a foot!"
"Remember: Tennis balls to the head are painful! Leave them on the ground next time!" and, of course,
"STEVIE NICKS. GODDAMN."
JTIS.
 this is perfect. i never really analyzed my sig that much. that's frightening, considering i analyze everything else in my life. it's just a collection of some of my favorite things :D

Oh honey. Just be careful with that. I do that a lot - if something is messing with me and I don't feel equipped to deal with it at that particular moment, I pack it up in a mental cardboard box and promise myself I will come back to it later when I am able to deal. Of course, I never do, so my mind's warehouse is totally overflowing with random f*ckery, and I'm pretty sure that's why my inner monologue closely resembles the Bataan Death March.

Hey, when you remember how to think like a grown-up, can you tell me how to do it? I haven't figured that one out yet.
Also, I understand that feeling. When I break up with someone, it's like I think they should immediately cease to exist. Like, how dare they do other things now? Where I can see them? Perhaps with other people I know? Even if I met those other people through that person and they were all friends first?
It doesn't happen all the time and I'm completely aware it's ridiculous, even when I'm in the middle of having the thoughts, but there it is anyhow. The best part is that I will do it even when I have absolutely no desire to ever be with that person again. I'm pretty sure that means I'm terribly conceited or something.

I'm used to it, unfortunately. I seem to have become a champion Bottler over the last few years. Just cork it up and put it on the shelf in my own little "warehouse". I tried a couple of times to talk to people on the outside world, but they just made me see that it just wasn't worth it in the end. They turned out not to be trustworthy. So I just don't talk about it anymore and just simply take my bad weather out on myself in unhealthy fashions. Shiny Happy Bee. That's me *Thumbs up and fake smile*. For everyone who gave words of wisdom/comfort involving my parents' potential separation: thank you. I should've said that I feel guilty for pretty much wanting them to separate for selfish reasons. My life would just be so much easier if I only had to deal with one of them at a time. Whatever, they're gonna do what they're going to do.

Annie's right :distress: I have no room to talk but bottling it up is not good. I turned to the internet to get me through my mum and dad's divorce, two friends dying and the likes and now I'm at a stage where I only wake up in a morning to see Debbie Harry's face and make sure she's okay, the Blondie gig the night before went well etc etc. I don't want to think that anyone else is feeling like I am because it upsets me, no matter who they are. I'm not expecting you to trust me straight away because that could be considered weird but if you want to PM me, I'm more than likely to always be here for a chat, college has installed free wi-fi for errywun now so I'll still be on through the day :woohoo:

I understand. If I'm being completely honest, I never really thought my habit of packing everything away like I do was a problem until pretty recently. Before, I'd looked at it like, "Well, hey - at least I'm not dragging around all depressed and brooding." I mean, I get happy and I get sad and junk, but in general, I'm so even-tempered, I might as well be Commander Data.
But then my mother died at the beginning of the year. My relationship with her was complicated (to say the least - she was a raging alcoholic & cuddly like Hannibal Lecter and I had to go into foster care in my early teens), but I'd packed her into a box, as it were, a long time ago. And then all of a sudden - KABLAM! I am rattling around everywhere like a Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man.
So now I'm working on working through my issue there. I have no idea how to do it or if there is a proper way to go about it, but we'll see how it goes. And if you ever need an ear, I'm here - no risk, 'cos everyone knows that people on the Internet aren't real. ;)

Thanks, hon. It was hard and it still is, but we do all right now.
I do not think that you should feel guilty (this coming from a former Catholic where guilt is our chief weapon of self-destruction, ha!), though I understand why you feel that way. I think that sometimes, we have to be "selfish," particularly when it comes to our own happiness. Unless you're actively working towards having them break up when they'd otherwise want to stay together themselves, I think that it's natural to want to see an unhappy situation end when it directly affects you like that.

Well you know the tuning is the inversion of the top four guitar strings, so if you just reverse those fingerings, you're halfway there. So tune it(top to bottom)G-D-A-E. Make yourself a little chord chart, and it shouldn't take long(sorry, I'm ASSuming you're a guitar player). For me, as a guitar player, mando was about the easiest thing to learn.

My parents have been divorced since 1997( I was 7) so its been a LONG and difficult road. Dont be shy....It is easier to only deal with one parent...but then again when I do talk to my dad he's a pain in the ass because he doesnt think "Hair School" is considered "college"...so I think he's trying to get out of paying for child support. He has to keep paying until I am out of college...but even if he can stop he still owes my mom almost $20,000 in back child support so either way he looses LOL I havent talked to him in over a month because the last time he talked to me he hung up on me(asshole)......

That's all I can think of, and yeah, that took me 20 minutes, not 5. Just remember, it's only a job, like any other. Perk is that you get to meet some famous people. Sometimes this is a huge letdown, because they're human, like everyone else, and sometimes humans SUCK. Which is a letdown, when it's somebody that you really idolized.
Edit- I've been editing my list(adding to it), because I now realize, all the shows that I've forgotten, over the years. I'm becoming quite obsessed, with coming up with a complete list, for myself. So when I'm 90, I can look back, and hopefully remember some of them! lol
Edit Edit - pardon my rambling....I just browsed every planner I've had, since I started. Some artists I didn't write their name on the date, I guess because I obviously knew at the time, who it was. That, and my handwriting used to be SO neat. It looks like crap now! lol

And which was the worst?

That was a pretty impressive list.
Which artist was the best or easiest to work with?
And which was the worst?
In general, MOST country artists are very easy to deal with, but that's because country fans won't tolerate prima donnas. Really. Ah, I forgot one! Mark Wills. And this was at the height of his career....followed ME around all afternoon, telling me stories. Couldn't have been any nicer.
Oh, other one....Bright Eyes - Conor Oberst hugged me several times during the day, and would put his arm around my neck, every time he'd request a monitor change(this is all during soundcheck). The other guy I work with, is a big redneck, and he kept saying, "he wants you, dude!".
Horror stories, both personal and public?
Personal - Steve Earle, of whom I WAS a huge fan. I actually did lighting for this show. I told his manager that I would love to get a guitar signed by him....his manager took me on his bus, post-show, and introduced me. Steve was sitting there with his band. I handed him my $1200 Takamine acoustic(yes, not super expensive, but all I could afford). He looked at it, and said, "I fukcing hate these japanese pieces of siht!", then signed it. Uh, thanks Steve. What a rude, fukcing douchebag.
Public - Vince Neil, for whom I was providing PA, and mixing(due to his engineer being fired, the previous day). The band was actually cool during the day. Well, show time comes...8PM.....no show....8:30...no show....9PM....no show.....crowd is starting to get ****ty....long story short....it's about 11PM, when he finally takes the stage....three HOURS late, on a weeknight! Crowd is chanting in unison, "BULL****, BULL****, BULL****!!!" You could cut the tension in the air, with a knife. He tells the crowd that he's been sick to his stomach, and that's why they're so late(I didn't believe it, and no one else did, either). He actually seemed to calm them down a little bit....they played 3 or 4 songs, then he said, "fukc you hillbillies, I'm out of here", and left the stage. They band was in terror, holding their hands out in front of them, like "hey, it's not US, we're standing here, wanting to play", then they left the stage, too. The venue was getting ready to be ripped apart(mind you, these are heavy metal fans, not FM fans). Bottles were being thrown. I got on a talkback mic, and was speaking to the crowd, trying to calm them, and telling them that the PA didn't belong to Vince!( nothing like a little self-preservation), because they were getting ready to topple it all. The state police were brought in, with dogs, to end this fiasco. It was scary, and at one point, the crowd was outside, trying to overturn his bus!
This event actually had a small writeup, in Rolling Stone. That's my worst story, as you can well imagine.
Those are my stories, and I'm sticking to them...

Curious, do you work for a venue, local crew or specific artists? I did a lot of concert work in college and always had fun working with everyone involved with making the show go on. Made me want to do it on a more professional level but was never sure how to break into that.
Impressive list of artists too! Laughed a little at the exclamation point after Hanson (they're a fave of mine).

I have two trucks full of PA sitting in my driveway, but I mainly work with one venue(mostly out of sheer laziness on my part...I've reached a level of comfort in my life, and I'd rather work 3 days a week, than 7!). I got my B.A., but always knew, that music was all I ever wanted to be involved in. I played in a small band, while in college, and gradually bought enough gear, that when I graduated, I started doing small PA gigs, and reinvested, and reinvested.....and honestly, the PA business sucks around here, anymore. The late 90's were great though, and I bought up a few rental properties, when the money was rolling in. I'm rambling now...
Hanson - haha. The only show that I recall a line, FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE, camping on the sidewalk, since it was general admission(this is only like 2 years ago, if that long). And the crazy little **** I save. I picked up a big red heart, with "I "heart" Hanson, on it. I have a pile of posters that I've saved, over the years, and I threw that big red heart onto the pile. I thought it was funny.

Ahhh. I worked for my college's programming committee so did a lot of loading in and setting up for concerts, some of which were very large scale, so it gave me a good taste of the life but not enough experience, I felt, to move on with it. I'd still love to get more involved somehow though. I think my dream job is to be a tour manager.
Ha, yeah, Hanson fans are campers. Some line up for MORE than one day (their hometown show this year, the line started three days before). One of my favorite pictures one of their openers took was from the day before a show and literally six tents pitched outside the venue and the caption "Hanson fans are in tents (get it?!)". There's definitely more of a fan culture around that band than people realize.

Has anyone else seen Why Did I Get Married? Well I watched them both yesterday. And it just dawned on me that I am the "20" in the "80/20" rule. So, of course I don't want to be that, or cause hurt for anyone. I mean, I don't know what I was thinking talking to someone who is with someone else, and have been for 4 years  Point is, I'm alone again, per usual. And as my tradition goes, anytime I experience heart break, I listen to Mariah all day because she is the only one that can soothe me in times like these.

"My" fraternity just got their 10th pledge of the day during the FIRST DAY of bid week. If the rest of our bids translate into members, we'll have had the second biggest pledge class on campus (annnnnnd four of the boys we snagged today were given bids from other frats as well. Kobe!) I've spent the past week catching nonstop buses into the city, wooing freshman, and laughing at too many math and science jokes that were not remotely funny. Seeing it pay off makes it all worthwhile. :xoxo:

I don't quite understand what all this means. What do you guys stand to gain by having all these pledges?
Per the highlighted part, perhaps you might consider a career in politics?

Well it keeps the house alive longer, makes a better dynamic, and shows that we're growing and getting more popular as the years go on. The current seniors had a pledge class of four. FOUR. They're all amazing guys and, actually, they're my favorites in the house, but they're small and it meant that the things the frat could do were small. The next year, they really buckled down (and benefited from the fact that those four were very charismatic charmers) and pulled it up to, I believe, nine? Then it was seventeen. This year, we've given out 27 bids and we're already at eleven (just got one more this morning!) acceptances. The sort of guys we've drawn in this year are different, too. We have our usual geeky types (one of the brothers used to hold the North American record for solving a rubics cube in the shortest amount of time), but we also have athletes, actors, and partiers. It just makes for a more vibrant social dynamic and a more fun place for the brothers to live (and me to hang out!)
Oh and the math/science jokes are so prevalent and so terrible because the frat is at MIT haha. You really just can't stop them. Thanks for the politician comment, but I would rather be a politician's wife ;)

So Marissa why are you trying to get Pledges for a frat house you don't live in? I know you said you hang out there but surely there must be several frat houses where you would be welcome.
Are you back in Boston now?
Didn't you mention you were gonna be in Ireland this past Summer? Did you ever go and if so, how did it go?

Pretty simply, they're my best friends here :) They were the first social group that I found in Boston that I really clicked with. My roommate used to date the frat's President (who also happens to be from a hometown five minutes away from mine, so I got to see him over the summer!), my other good Wellesley friend's older brother and father went through this frat, and one of the seniors was out in San Francisco with me over the summer (...another boy at the house decided to hop a plane and come visit me in San Francisco AFTER A JOKE INVITATION, but that's a story for another time.) I just have so many connections to them at this point that I couldn't imagine not being invested in making the house the best it can be. I was also a rush hostess for them, so I was at every event, I was helping to get freshman interested, and I had a say in who got offered a bid and who didn't. I'm basically as much a member of this frat as you can be without being an MIT male :woohoo:
BY THE WAY, WE'RE NOW AT THIRTEEN.
I am back in Boston! I got here two Saturdays ago :) And Ireland is coming up in January, thank you for asking :xoxo:

Description of guys I tend to date: 35+, foreign, wealthy, absolutely beautiful, rebellious, attention-hungry, sentimental, intruiging, suave, intelligent..... and completely emotionally fukced up. Oh and assholes, too.
Description of guys I should date: under 25, intelligent, kind, motivated, opinionated, passionate.... I don't even know. Just the opposite of who I date now, I guess.
So of course I find a guy that fits the "should date" qualifications.... less than a week before I leave for school. Junior mechanical engineering major at Stanford who is attending on a full ride. Plays rugby for the school. 6'6" (YES! I need tall), half Native American, a total nature guy and yet also loves to party...
Keep in mind that it is REALLY REALLY hard for me to find someone I'm attracted to under 35. Essentially, it doesn't happen, regardless of whether or not they fit the "qualifications"... so I'm going to dinner with this guy tomorrow night and I really like him and I've seen him every day since we met and WHY DOES LIFE ALWAYS DO THIS TO ME?!

Yay Seattle! I love Seattle.
If you need school supplies, might I suggest hitting the Daiso (the downtown one on Pine in the weird mall thingie, not the one in the International District because it's not as big)? It's like a Dollar General or Family Dollar, only Japanese. I make my sister take me there when I visit so I can get cheap bento supplies and stationery covered in Engrish, like the notebook with the smiling turtle that says "STROLL OF TURTLE!" and the notecards and envelopes with the girly skull that says, "Happy skull! KISS HER!" and the pencil sharpener shaped like a cat, where you put the pencil in its ass and then crank its tail to sharpen.
If you need dorm/apartment junk, Daiso's a good place for that, too. They've got all manner of stuff - kitchenware, bathroom stuff, bedroom stuff, other stuff that does who-knows-what 'cos I can't read Japanese. Good times, for serious.
Oh, AND there's a Nordy's Rack not too far from there, too, which is very important to know about for obvious reasons (OMG SHOES).
