Apparently, you're meant to pick one colour at a time and use that. Then the vodka turns lovely shades of red, purple, green, etc. I put them all in at once and got brown. Whoops.

Also, I'm living on a bowl of cereal and a bowl of rice / pasta a day. So, it's fairly cheap to live on

Oh God xD I have a friend JUST like that.

Well as long as it tasted good, then the brown-ness could be forgiven. As my Mum always says, as long as it's alcoholic and wet it's drinkable. And wow....Not to be coarse but you must really have bathroom issues with all that rice and pasta lol. Has I'm a Celebrity taught you nothing lol? But still, good for the figure :p

Hehe. I'm lucky because my friends have never dared me to do anything that is incredibly mean of them. Probably because I already topped it when I went to London last. I don't drink much and had one too many, so I was a bit squiffy. I thought I would be dead clever and wander out of the hotel in the dark, alone and shoeless, and go for a walk in a city I knew nothing about, asking the seediest men for directions back to the hotel after I got terribly lost. Best thing was, I managed to call my friends so they could come and find me, and told them where I was standing. By the time they got there, I'd wandered off and already found my way back to the hotel where I was promptly sick all over the bathroom. I concede it was my own fault and I definitely lost all sense of self preservation that night lol.

I was dared to get in it. And nobody dares me because they know I'll do it :p Just kind of got messy when my friends started piling their shopping ontop of me. Lucky for me they decided they needed plenty of Bananas, which not only gross me out but I have somewhat of a phobia of them lol. But it was fun, especially the stoic older folks watching me with their eyes of judgement XD

Just when I thought I'd seen it all...

It's the whole idea of them touching me, because the texture and scent of them are so deplorable to me. I honestly get the shakes when they're near me. I wouldn't say I'm as bad as when I see a Spider though lol. Nothing compares with that level of misery.

I can somewhat relate to having an irrational visceral reaction to seemingly innocuous things. My phobia? Crickets. I hate the way they look, the way they jump, their piercing chirps... everything. When I see that a cricket has entered the house, I am obsessed with getting rid of it by any means possible. Being in the presence of crickets sets off such a visceral reaction... it's rather embarassing.

I used to work with someone who had a phobia of... wait for it... hosta plants. Yep, those ornamental, shade-loving plants. I think it's one thing to have a phobia for things that offend your senses, but hostas? Really?

Plants? That's a really strange thing to be afraid of. But I suppose there's no understanding unless you're actually going through it. The mind has a funny way of creating a threat that isn't actually there.

I'm so jealous! I've been searching bookstores everywhere (ie, Middlesbrough and Newcastle) for that book. I just use my size 15 shoes to crush spiders.

Or shriek like a little girl.

Speaking of phobias. I'm scared of birds. MAINLY PIGEONS. One time, I was down town, and my friend phoned me, now, according to her, we were talking, when suddenly I started shrieking gibberish down the phone for a good ten minutes. A pigeon had flew right at me :(

I found a copy for £4 in my local vinyl shop which was lucky. It has some really cool stuff in it. I managed to find a book of Beatles lyrics (entire back catalogue) illustrated which is a really cool *huggles it* Size 15? Woah....I'm size 5. I feel so small lol.

Aww!

My Auntie hates Birds too! I never understood what it was. Is it because you've seen Alfred Hitchcock's film? A certain film is why I don't like Clowns anymore, lol. I think you can guess which one I mean *shudder*

I haven't, no. They just freak me out. I think it was cause, when I was younger, like, 7 or so, a friend of mine stopped all of a sudden. And then got pooped on. If he hadn't stopped, I would have been pooed on.

Since then, it's become an irrational fear of all things winged and feathery. :(

Aww. I remember being pooped on by Birds alot when I was younger (probably because I was the "stand stock still looking up at the sky for far too long" kid) but it never led to a phobia luckily. I can understand why it would though. Nobody likes that constant threat of Avian poop bombing.

I'm not saying it's the case with anyone here; certainly not of someone's Auntie, but an aversion to birds is very common amongst pot smokers and has been written about, case studies and such, not on The Ledge.
SPIDERS- yes- was written about on The Ledge- we had 1 or 2 spider threads in August and September, several of us were being terrorized and I took it the worst, go figure. Seems it was spider season, which thankfully now seems to be over.

Oh gawd, yes! I had one last night but knock on wood the invasion seems to be over. Oh my lord. D: I'd be too terrified to go anywhere NEAR that thing.

Oooooh then I'll tell you my story.
I needed to take nature shots for my photo 2 class, and In had procrastinated until the day before. I took Nemo (rip) outside with me and took a million good shots of him (which I used), but before that I had saw this grasshopper on my fence so I went to take a picture of him. I got pretty super close to the grasshopper and snapped a picture...and then I realized that the film was taking so I had to go into my bathroom (that has no windows and is completely dark so that I wouldn't ruin my film)...I went back out to the grasshopper...was staring at it through my lens and waiting for a really good shot, looked over, and BAM!!! I was soooo friggin close to this damn thing. I didn't shriek. I just like...walked really quickly away from it. I took Nemo back inside and locked my back door. I told my friends that my photo teacher almost got me killed and they asked me to take a picture of the thing and put it on fb. My digital camera can zoom in pretty far, so I took it and got a good picture of the spider without getting too close to it (:

P.S. it's a black and yellow argiope...it's a garden spider and male...which is why that white thing is there. :( but atleast it's not poisonous lol

almost biting the dust on a short trip to the cemetery...

Went out to the cemetery this afternoon, and as I was driving a rock-quarry semi-truck decides to pass me as I was driving slowly (Northbound) behind a farmer hauling huge round hay bales. Of course, he is passing me as we come to level ground and I can see someone heading (Southbound) right towards him...

so I had to decide between getting crushed/splatted by this huge a*hole if he swerved back into my lane to avoid the oncoming vehicle or I could slam on the brakes (No one was behind me, thank God/Allah/Buddah/Manny, Moe & Jack) so he could get back in the correct lane, thus averting making someone have a really, really, really bad day.

Obvious which one I choose...But on the humorous side, if he had splatted me the officials could just dump what was left of me off at the cemetery and save themselves (And my estate) alot of $$$$ and time

My older brother Geary knows about my wishes IF something was to happen, and the rest of my wishes/instructions are written out and stored in my fireproof safe, that only my older brother knows the location of and where the extra key is located.

After what happened 2 years ago, I made plans just in case of my death (I have the most HILARIOUS 'will and testament' ever written - Geary definitely wants to be the one to read it cause we have the same warped personality), which I don't see happening for many years...unless I slip on the banana peel of doom, get hit by a milk truck, or my worse fear - Dying of Boredom!!!

I'd be careful with LG phones. My Mother's been having problems with hers, where it's been accessing her wi-fi internet via her computer and blowing up her bill. It had wasted more than £70 before she had found out and had the phone's internet capabilities disconnected. And even though it wasn't her problem she's still expected to pay the bill :s

I have no Internet on my phone (it's slow, kills the battery, a waste of money, and I'm not desperate to be constantly checking my Facebook), so I'm safe with that. On the bright side, I chose that over a Samsung that, according to reviews, kept on breaking 3 months after people bought it.

Same thing with me, so I can somewhat relate to what you're going through...But in my case it's because I have this coming week to look forward to, and in my past this is THE week I fear the most (5 family deaths between the years 1977-2008, on the dates of Oct.18th, 19th & 22nd) aka "Hell Week".

Just hang in there is all I can say, and if you don't feel normal see your physician about your issues.

I think it's because I've been hit so hard with my workload as well as depression, and it's catching up with me. I couldn't even get out of bed this morning because, as morning me put it "nothing in the world is going to change if you get out of bed". And I'm not one for Doctors. I havn't been since I was made to see the practice's Psychiatrist and he put down my depression as a simple mood, something I'm sure those with depression can agree is laughable as moods don't even come close to it. I dislocated my knee a week ago and I still havn't gone about that. Kind of waiting for it to slide back into place on its own :o I'm sorry you have so much to deal with at the moment. It's the anniversary of my Nan's death today but my experience probably couldn't even sneeze at yours. *hugs* Hang in there.

This twee attempt at inert blurting shall no doubt make sense only myself, although I make no apology for that. My thoughts are my own, and as such I shall express them the only way I know how. To confuse and befuddle to the point where even I am unsure of my own meaning. That would be my intention if it weren't for the pesky fact that I'm not quite certain what I would like to say. Should I provide a commentary on the weather, lamenting the grey skies and the weeping clouds? It seems rather crass and crude to me. Something not unlikend to Poe or Whitman, "and then he died..In the rain". Do I wish to go down that path of self pity? I think not. Being sure of my own lack of value and not highlighting it is the only self assurance that prevents me from slipping into an abyss of platitudes and trite irony. But to each his own, I have to concede. Be what one wishes, be as sad and unforgiving as one wishes. They deem it "one" simply for that purpose. It belongs to one, the choice and the freedom. It is my freedom to complete nonsense prose just to engorge myself in the less simplistic of language, showing the world that I am not simply somebody with nothing going for them. It could take an hour to record this; perhaps longer? But in the matter of time I care not. I waste whole evenings on things I could never attain, avoiding that nonsense word of work where I can. Procrastination and me are one. Perhaps if I were more indebted and commited to it, I could procrastinate from life itself. But what does one do when one wishes to avoid putting things off? How does one procrastinate against procrastination? It seems rather an impossiblity to me, much is the idea of work. Perhaps works is simply that: a procrastination in itself against work. Perhaps me repeating the word shall infuse it's meaning and somehow make it more than it is. I repeat it, therefore it is as valid as the work itself. I am commiting myself the time between importance, to the lowest of ebbs and the forgotten hour. How many of you shall remember the time you put off that of utmost importance? Is it merely a dire need to waste ones life in the hopes that failure shall be avoided? Is this a failure in itself? Shall I soon realise that the questions I ask are nothing more than putting off meaning in this not so twee blurt? I like to think that maybe this in itself is evidence of my meaning. A proctrastination of its own kind to profide its own morals; a fable if you will. I doubt there is any life lesson in this other than what one can do in a wasted moment, when hearts and minds are no longer connected and one is forced to fend for themselves in the forest of Dene: the illusive closure.

Its nice to live in the middle of nowhere, isn't it? I remember seeing lots of wildlife (including deer) during my childhood summers in Kentucky. We even get deer out at the house in Arizona too. I enjoy it for about 36-48 hours... then need to get the hell out of AZ :D

Interesting story here. This roadrunner hops up and looks in the window (of my father's den/TV ro0m) ONLY when there's football (college or pro) playing. It sleeps on the window sill weekend nights to watch the games, and is even smart enough to show up for the random college football games ESPN shows during the week. I usually roll my eyes at hokey stories like this, but its true.

Yeah I do, and I heard that with rabbit ears in Farmingville you get CT stations. I would love to leave Cablevision now, but with the winds we get and the stupid kids that get babysat next door, a dish would fall right off the house and Verizon is yet to get Fios to Brookhaven yet, so I just gotta grin and bear it.

Oh heyyyyy.

I'm so flattered you guys missed me :xoxo:

I've been insanely busy this semester. There really are no words. I've also only been living at my dorm half the time, so I do a lot of commuting back and forth between my college and the house in Boston where I spend my time.

Speaking of that place, one of the things I've been doing involves my insanely hot (and, I guess, more importantly, insanely nice) friend's room....

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs011.ash2/33916_436122996598_500161598_5678382_7940923_n.jpg

you know, tin foiling everything in it. Like I said, it's been a busy semester. I'm doing big things.

Other updates, my roommate talked me out of going abroad in the spring. It was really my roommate and my advisor, but my roommate offered to buy a cat with me if I stayed. I couldn't turn that down. I'm going to be taking at least one, if not two, MIT classes once the spring does come, though, so it will still be something new and different for me academically.

What else, what else...apparently my dog lost weight? I don't know. My mom just texted me about it. Oh and one of my friends from MIT is living with me for a week. We had been joking that he was going to do life the way I did sometime and commute back and forth between our two schools. I told him he couldn't handle the way I live. He showed up Sunday night at my door with a sleeping bag. So it's midterms week, and probably not the best time in the world to have someone camped out with me, but we've been having fun. In the words of a mutual friend, putting this kid at Wellesley is "like putting a drug addict in a room full of dealers." Actually, the midterms thing will be fine. I doubt he's going to end up in my room every night.

Final thoughts, I'm pumpkin carving both this weekend and next with my roommate. We're excited because we're five. And I'm going with a good friend as the Nancy half of Sid and Nancy for Halloween. That should be equally good times. And it's MIT's homecoming this weekend and a friend is nominated for King.

I'm going to go backread and find out how you all are.

for me. I had to tolerate some ass-hats who called me about a loan that I have to pay, but they did NOT realize I can answer my phone (A little techno trick I picked up years ago) and make it appear otherwise - their callous remarks & 'joyous laughter' about me were uncalled for...Not once, but twice.

So I talked to the companies supervisor about the situation, he called to see what the deal was, then called me back to apologize on his behalf for his company and said the manager & asst. manager of the firm would also like to call to apologize to me...I told him apologies to me are just hollow words to cover ones ass, such as if for example a drunkard plows into a van killing a family of 4, thinks that an apology will makes amends - when in fact the only thing the drunkard would be apologizing for is GETTING CAUGHT.

I told him to "save their hollow words for someone else". I WARNED him that people such as his group need to BACK OFF of me at this time - not a threat, but a guarantee.

Hey, if one is to call me, either speak to me or f**k off!

Okay I guess. Well...the gist was that an old friend from my real life posted in the "goodby song" forum, telling me to kill myself. An argument ensued between a regular poster and herself.

Bee,

I was going to post this in the Goodby Song thread, but seeing as it is gone, I am posting it here. Two years ago I read a book called Why I Committed Suicide and this part has always stuck with me:

I am home again, which fills me with a feeling of relief but also an underlying melancholy. Maybe staying busy with work and school is what I need to stay happy for a while. I'll let pointless busy work replace the idleness that lets my mind brood and hope it works out better than before.

I'm just kind of sad for no reason at all. Even having symptoms of clinical depression doesn't mean I want drugs to treat it. For some reason genetics created my mind to have a cynical view and perceive things differently than Joe-Blow frat boy and I can't dismiss what I think and feel as being mere symptoms of a disease. Who cares if I don't want to get out of bed and go to school or work because I'm depressed? Not my boss or professors. Is god trying to control the population by inserting a suicide clause that activates whenever a certain number of McDonald's restaurants go up in any given neighborhood? I guess I am asking questions that aren't even defined by logical or legitimately proposed questions.

Who am I to complain that I exist? What gives the me the ****ing right and audacity to be a thankless bastard? Maybe I should take Zoloft and be chemically happy and balanced, but right now I would rather die than be a robot. Having quirks and problems gives me inspiration and helps me grow to overcome obstacles.

Sorry, I even said I'm feeling melancholy huh? What's weird is that I'm happy and sad at the same time. I think I'm sad because I want something more than I have but I can't identify it close enough to make it an obtainable goal. A dissatisfied happiness? If I don't know what's missing, then it could be anything or everything and what kind of ****ed up situation is that to be in?

People pass me in the street and say "How's it going?" and with a glint of my teeth and a click of my heels I automatically reply "Great!" But as I write this I still feel like something is missing. I don't think my life can (or will) get any better than this and I really don't see any way to keep making it exponentially better. There will always be little things to work for of course, more money and overseas vacationing come to mind, but I doubt material wealth will ever make me feel any more complete. I'll be able to say that I've got a lot of money and opportunity, but inside it will still just be me. I'm worried that I'll have high school football player syndrome, where I constantly look back and regret that my favorite time of life has already passed on. Gone. I don't want to look back and wish I were still here and I don't want to look back and wish I was still where I was. Capishe?

The reason this stuck with me was because I completely related to it then and even still do at times. The guy actually doesn't end up committing suicide, so it was nice to know that there was someone out there who shared my thoughts without giving up. I don't know you personally Bee, so I don't want to make assumptions about you or your situation. I don't want to put you or your circumstances in a box, but I just want to share my thoughts. Sometimes professional help is beneficial, but it isn't always necessary. Sometimes all you need is to know you aren't alone. To know you aren't the only person in the world who feels this way. To know that there is someone in this world you can relate to. To know that someone cares about you. So I just want to tell you Bee, many times I have found myself lost and hopeless. Sometimes you just have to "go away for a little while to remember how to feel." But no matter how cliche it sounds, the truth is Bee, your best days are ahead of you. You are more loved than you will ever know. You are not alone and this is not the end of your story.

"Tell them to look up. Tell them to remember the stars. The stars are always there but we miss them in the dirt and clouds. We miss them in the storms. Tell them to remember hope."

"Maybe I should take Zoloft and be chemically happy and balanced, but right now I would rather die than be a robot. Having quirks and problems gives me inspiration and helps me grow to overcome obstacles."

did I write something under a different name, in a different parallel existence that I don't remember writing or what? That is EXACTLY how I am feeling at this exact moment (And yes, I was taking Zoloft) minus dealing with problems...

My 'quirks' help me deal with all this DEATH that haunts me...I'm so quirky that I even called a suicide prevention hotline tonight because the NEGATIVE thoughts in my head were outweighing my sense of humor, so much so that I couldn't even find anything I usually found humorous funny enough to laugh at. Just maybe, having to be in the funeral home again today triggered my emotions (Wasn't there for a death, THANKFULLY...Had to fax off some paperwork in regards of a job - and the funeral home staff have always gave me use of their fax machine...they however caught my off-hand joke about if the job didn't work out and the stress I'm under continues I'll be bringin' 'em some potential business very soon)

Even worse was that my usual outlets that are my loves and my passions (Baseball & Music) were buried tonight as I sat here having the most suicidal feeling I have had EVER. Believe me, when music doesn't comfort my emotions, something indeed is very rotten in Denmark. The feelings of loneliness and depression were far worse tonight they the feelings of grief I suffered almost exactly 2 years ago. I made it through then, I didn't think I would now...

But I have.

I have to...I'm the modern day biblical character "Job" :o

Besides, I'm too stubborn to give in even when I feel like it...(The ledgie 'nickay' can tell ya that) and I have to call and harass my older brother in the morning for being another year older on the day before ALL HELL fubar'd both of our lives.

Tonight we had homemade salmon patties, scalloped potatoes and fresh green beans.

It was delectable. It was a pretty simple meal, along with the snapper just
some quartered red potatos in butter (and a few other ingredients). Then
to make sure it was kept Southern - I ate white bread with it. You have to
have white bread with fish in Bama.

Your meal sounds good too. How about a deal? I cook for you, you cook

Nah, that would've been my 12th grade English Literature class at Muskogee High School, where we watched a movie version of "Romeo & Juliet" that was rather 'pornographic' - Gee, I guess that was the late 80's approach to sex ed (But in an English class setting).

Oddly, I enjoyed having a test in that same class over the poem "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge since Iron Maiden did a 13 minute epic song version of the poem, so I used my memory of the song lyrics to destroy that test - and people think 'metal' is for the unintelligent :D

Today, in 3 hours, I filled ten 30 gallon black plastic bags with leaves I raked and by using a leaf blower. Bagging massive amounts of leaves is a new experience for me. Yippee.
Me, outside, making with the yard work.
300 gallons of leaves. My old LA colleagues would be hysterical with laughter at the thought.
There are still tons of leaves on the trees, but the yard was looking too neglected to let it wait. I may do it all one more time, but after that, I'm done. A guy who lives down the street I've already set up for snow removal is anxious to do work before winter. He drove by, stopped to talk and seemed disappointed I was doing the leaves myself. Today was just a fraction of what will need to be done before winter but I felt like getting a start on it.
It feels a little awkward there's someone who lives so close waiting for me to be a source of income for him. Does anyone have any similar neighbors anxious to work, maybe too anxious? I'm grateful and all, but feel a little pressure. Oh well, doesn't matter, much.

Tried to sleep it off today and I dreamt that I was best friends with Gene Simmons' family and yet secretly screwing Gene himself (EW EW EW EW NEVER!), then their house turned into a series of makeup counters.... then Sophie (Gene's daughter) flew to stay with me in the Bay Area and we were super close friends, then the next day was my wedding day? No idea who I was getting married to but two of my childhood friends were getting married in the churches next to me and I haven't talked to these girls in YEARS. But we got ready together and kept going on about how it felt right that we would celebrate our weddings together? I vividly remember the dress and all the random people from my past that were at my wedding but no idea who I was getting married to-- woke up while heading down the aisle. And I was a few months pregnant so I had a bit of a bump. WTF.

Anyone have thoughts or experiences of TVs with built in DVD players? I am so tired of multiple cables and wires.
I want the newer White TV/DVD combo, but they are scarce in stores unless you get a tiny one. I want a 32 or 37 inch, white with the built in dvd player. HSN.com has one right now, but it has one customer review who wrote it's awful. Amazon has one that seems good but it is only 26".
Maybe as Christmas comes closer there will be more in stores. I'm feeling stubborn and have to have the white, to match my Mac and my walls! Way less black tvs is my prediction for the next decade, the white and grey will take over. Shows less dust, too, I'd bet!

Edit: Link at end answers questions I had.
Apparently, a woman won $1000 at a Connecticut casino. She got paid in hundred dollar bills, one of which was counterfeit, and the casino wouldn't honor her win or 'make it right' when she found out the money was fake when she deposited her winnings at her bank the next day and they spotted the one counterfeit $100 bill out of the ten she won at Foxwoods. So she called CT News Channel 8, and the woman said she got her money because of the tv station, because the casino didn't want word to get around.
I wonder if she had previously called the FBI or The CT State Attorney General's Office, which would have been my first instinct, not 'Axxshun News!" (Didn't 'Action News' go out in the 70s? Not here in CT!)
I think the casino should be held accountable, fined, and maybe be forced to close down for a week so the feds can check out the cash they keep on hand! I'd say an investigation is at least in order.

After reading about some of the lies that Mick conveyed to his ghost writer for his autobiography, I'm glad my schedule forced me to stop reading it. It looks like he pulled a Carol-Ann really :/

I think the casino should be held accountable, fined, and maybe be forced to close down for a week so the feds can check out the cash they keep on hand! I'd say an investigation is at least in order.

WHY should the casino be held accountable, for what was most likely, a fake bill, that someone ELSE, passed off on them. THEY, took the loss.

What if you owned a store, and someone passed off a fake bill on you. Should YOU be held accountable, fined, and forced to close down for a week, because someone slipped YOU a fake bill?

So my grandmother today told me that she has early stages of Alzheimer's Disease ='( This makes me terribly sad....I love her SOOOOOO much and it kills me inside to see her forgetting stuff and stuff she says and stuff she does within like minutes....I've been doing research on the disease and it makes me even more sadder =(

I'm so sorry to hear that, Caitlin :(. My Grandfather dealt with that sickness the last few years of his life, and it's incredibly tough as a family member to deal with. Because some days your Grandmother will be just fine, and others she just won't. I think that's the toughest, and most confusing aspect. My thoughts go out to you and your family.

This is an iffy situation. Technically the casino should be liable for handing out counterfeit money, because they should essentially be checking the money they take in so they don't hand any out. However, the woman also has a responsibility to essentially check the money that she receives, and since she accepted the money then one would think she is now liable for it. However, most Home Owners insurance policies and Business insurance policies cover counterfeit money to a certain limit.

Oh boy, two things to reply to:
1. The casino, I feel, did their best to not help the woman, I don't know if you clicked on the link or not. I think their behavior was very suspect- you do have a point that the fake bill may have been passed on to them by a customer, but their willingness to pay the woman once the media was contacted makes me think they perhaps did it on purpose. Or perhaps not. It sounded deliberate to me, but may not have been. The offer for meal vouchers, which was then revoked, seemed very odd.
2. Alzheimers- I am sorry to hear about the grandmother who may have it.
My mother- and my dad (though he isn't facing it right now) are potentially Alzheimer's patients, or in early stages. What is little known about the disease is that there is only a 'suspicion' of it- Whether a person actually has Alzheimer's cannot be determined with exact certainty until an autopsy is performed (specifically, of the brain), obviously after death.
Of course, there are tell-tale signs of Alzheimers, but it is possible 'your' grandmother may not have the disease at all. I really don't think my mother has it, but she is on a prescription med that slows down deterioration of the brain called Aricept. It just has made her horribly skinny, as the first two side effects are extreme loss of appetite and major weight loss- along with stomach cramping and total lack of energy. It's very sad when a persons body or mind begins to betray them, but Alzheimers is very tricky for many reasons, and the one that bugs me is that only when the autopsy is performed do you ever know for sure the person had the disease. It can be dementia, or just 30 years of diabetes and a lifetime of clinical depression and the side effects of every med she is on and has ever been on, in my Mom's case, and not Alzheimers at all.
I wish your grandmother and you well. If she just got the news, I bet they will put her on the Aricept, which helps the mind, I just hope your grandmother is not already thin.

I have a TV/DVD player and to be honest with you, they're not that great. They suffer faults really easily and I've had to replace mine a few times for eating my DVDs. Personally I just don't think they're a good investment.

I lost my Grandmother on my Father's side to Alzheimers, and my Father's showing early stage signs of it. I never really saw my Grandmother, only met her a few times, so I guess it didn't hit as hard as it should have done really. I also have close Relatives on my Mother's side who have succumbed to it. I'm pretty much destined to get it myself. It's hard to see the change in people when they go through it, but try to make the most of her while you still have her. Have you tried making a scrapbook of memories for her? Also, I found that making one of every day things helps in the later stages because they have that "comfort blanket" so they don't have to rely on people as much as they would haved one. Anything they struggle with could go in there, like how to use the telephone if they forget, important numbers, where to find different foods in the kitchen etc.

Going round town was like being on Safari, I swear. Me and my friend saw SO MANY women wearing leopard print clothes / accessories.

Also, Zebra and Tiger print stuff as well.

But everywhere we looked... leopards. There was a safari family, the mother was a leopard, the daughter was a zebra.

It was all very bizarre.

Hey guys :)

I'm working on a project that will eventually become the science fair project that I'll present in February. Anyway, I need all the help I can get, and part of my project is interviews. I need people who are 20-30 years old and people born before 1950.

The questions are:
1. Name
2. Birthdate and origin
3. Are where you grew up (country, city, state, county, etc.)
4. General summary of what the economy was like as you were growing up
5. What technology was available
6. The medicine that was available
7. The illness & diseases that existed or were a big deal
8. The treatments and cures that were available for those illnesses and diseases

If anyone is willing to help me out (please please please and thank you!) that would be really awesome. You can shoot me an message anytime between now and Sunday.
:xoxo:

P.S.

Diversity is awesome and a big plus for what I am doing.
It would be great if I could get people from the U.S., Canada, Europe, and all other places :)
If you guys know anyone who would be willing to answer these (simple) questions, then it would be awesome if you can get them to answer them :)

Much love and thanks to the people who will help a sister out.

Children like to do some really freaky things IN FRONT OF EVERYONE at dances...not kidding. It's gross. The high school dances get people pregnant. They like to just do it in the middle of the dance floor (no joke). Two kids from a different high school (same county) got caught doing that.

Oho. I am beyond pissed right now. My Dad's buying himself a laptop, despite telling me he's hasn't got any money; since he owes me over a hundred quid for Uni books, money he PROMISED he'd give me back (otherwise I wouldn't moan) but it's money I desperately need.

And, in all honesty, I'm disappointed my Mum hasn't thrown him out yet. It's been bad between them for months, and the other night they had a massive argument, he kicked her, so she pinned him against the wall and slapped him. Next day he does his whole "I'll change" thing, and she laps it all up. Disgusted. There is never ANY excuse for hitting a woman. Never.

My little brother has it so right. They'll be fine for a few months, then they'll fall out and everyone will be miserable again. Typical.

My auntie and uncle just left to carry on up to Hull. I've not seen my Uncle since my dad left because he didn't wan't to have to talk to my dad after what my dad did. My little Max thought he was ace :)

Point is, though. He came down having poked his head into my room to say Hi to my bunny and told me how he'd noticed my Christine poster. We then talked about how she was and In The Meantime. He told me he recognised the song titles from 1984 that were on the poster and that I had fantatstic taste. It was so awesome for someone who's known me so long to actually show an interest in Christine :blob2:

JTIS that I just hiked the Grand Canyon- from the South Rim to the Colorado River and back- in one day. That's 17.5 miles down and up a nearly 5000 ft vertical drop. It was just about the most difficult thing I have ever done physically (the guidebooks state that the energy expended just tomclimb out of the canyon is equivalent to running a marathon) and the scenery was the most spectacular yet terrifying (I have a terrible fear of heights). I will never forget the beauty and the discovery of all the unique habitats within the canyon and it's inner gorge, but holy sh**balls, I ain't evah doing this again! I hit the wall about 3 miles shy of climbing out of the canyon- with about another two thousand feet of vertical to go. My sore legs and blisters combined with hunger and the high altitude did not help matters. I literally wanted to curl up into a ball and die. But slowly, inch by inch I shuffled my way up the steepest trail. All I could think of to keep me going was a big plate of pasta.

Anyway, I feel like I did something that not too many others have pulled off. I now feel like I could do anything (that is, once my blisters heal and my Achilles tendons aren't protesting every step). JTIS!

Hmmm... Hejira in Arizona...so recently was the Fleetwood Mac corporate show in Phoenix. Could the distinguished Hej of The Ledge also have pulled off being the only Ledgie to have been at the concert? Just a co-incky to be in AZ? :)

Oh, but I do appreciate your deductive reasoning. Alas, in this particular case, it is not the correct conclusion! Trust me, there is no way I could have gotten into the gig. Can't a person just simply enjoy the natural and manmade wonders of the Southwest at face value?

Radar, radar! 'Trust me' -- followed by a sensible, deflective query posed to make my already questionable 'deductive reasoning' seem even more far-fetched than it already was.
You're very good. :)

In my world, skinny is a compliment! I went out dressed as Garth Brooks, last night(I even own the same model of "Crown CM311" headset mic, so it really added to the authenticity), and a friend said that I looked like Garth Brooks with AIDS. Okay, Garth is very chubby....but I still take it as a compliment, when someone tells me I'm too skinny.
When I used to be heavier, strange women would approach me, and tell me how much I looked like Garth. Frequently. JTIS.

There were some awesome people dressed up as French mimes who took Halloween VERY seriously, like, they were totally in character and everything.

I wish I took pictures now D: I was too busy reminding myself that, Yes, I would hate the taste of Sambuca twice.

Proof that it is nearly impossible for me to graduate in four years if I double major. Yay.

Best of luck to you! I'm sure you'll be great :)

I have insomnia. Not as exciting.

Haha. I did so badly in it. I was so nervous I couldn't read my notes or remember what I wanted to say. I was shaking badly. I had to leave the room two minutes in to cry in the corridoor. I'm so embarassed. My tutor agreed to me doing it on a much smaller level in her office though with my friends as an audience so that was nice of her. I know crowds so scare me, but I've never had a panic attack during a seminar before.
