I think it's a miracle that Sears has survived as long as it has. It surely should have gone the way of Montgomery Ward; it has never been a great place to shop (at least in the last forty years). Sure, I've bought appliances there. But that was the only thing they were good at- Kenmore appliances. Oh, and Craftsman tools. Nowadays, they source all of their other products from the same (Chinese-made) factories/brands as Target and Walmart, yet the prices are not good for what you get. And time after time they have gone wrong where Target got it right. Sears branded products, even their so-called "collaborations" (um, Ty Pennington? Really??) these days are so uninspired and middling that they've allowed more innovative mass retailers to take their market share; they really should have been what Walmart has become.

KMart is another old relic that has long outlived its usefulness. Rather than catering to its base, the bargain "blue light" shopper, it tried to re-brand itself (unsuccessfully) several times and ended up losing most of their customers to Wally world. You would have thought the merger of Sears and KMart would have leveraged each of their respective strengths- good appliances and hardware along with bargains galore- but instead it's only magnified their weaknesses- Sears' uncompetitive pricing and KMart's bland, poor quality product selection. They even got rid of the KMart restaurants- perhaps the only incentive for a kid to gamely tag along on a bargain expedition through those harshly-lit, cluttered aisles. KMart has never been a "cool" place to shop, especially for clothes, but it used to have a quirky, homely charm; you almost shopped there because you felt sorry for them. R.I.P. KMart.

It must be all about that book: The Complete Works of Stevie Nicks that everyone wants to know about.

Yeah, like "Golden Girls" related discussions...WTF?!

Yeah at one point last night, there was 374 people viewing the Chit Chat forum, mostly on the Golden Girls thread!

I wasn't out there but snapped this from the beach webcam earlier. A sunny but cool day today but supposed to warm back up again. If it dips in the 60's I'm freezing now. I guess it's not a bad winter day by any means...

I think you're looking at the grassy sand dunes. But I know what you mean sometimes when the tide washes in and makes huge pool puddles along the shore. Kids love that and so do I :)

Hi, I am with you...and I know all too much about pain and the feelings that a lot don't have because their synapses and seritonin and all is firing in generic sync. I, as a young adult was mis diagnosed...again, and again...causing many setbacks. I finally had to go inpatient...and I was there for quite a bit...where all doctors before were Prozac, zoloft, Thorazineing me out...they were making me worse. They were treating the side of me that got me into their office. Not. Even knowing my. Normal manic side. And I am sure you know what anti depressants do to a rapid cycling bi polar/manic depressive does. Too often its meds thrown at a unit polar person...without much investigating. So I made this part of my work and mission. Don't pigeon hole everybody into a category or a label...

Has anyone looked and listened to you for a while to see any other behaviors?

Deadly results occur with TV ads diagnosing people...and doctors that are no specialists in human behaviors are writing scripts that they really aren't qualified to write as treatment for a patient...its out of their league...
and the stigma that uneducated people place on you.

I hope this might help...and if you have any questions I might be able to answer...or at least suggest where to start looking...let me know...

Life is a gift...and shouldn't be painful for anyone.

WHY am I leaving music city, to drive home and attend my friend's NYE party? Because I feel obligated...:distress:

I was talking to a cop yesterday, and he said 40,000 people flock to Nashville for NYE. They've had the streets downtown shut down since yesterday afternoon, with a free stage already going.

The only reason I'm not regretting leaving too much, is that the free headliner is Lynyrd Skynyrd. The only thing worse than their music, is their demographic!:laugh::laugh:

I do love Skynyrd's music/albums. Problem is that the replacement members have been beating the dead horse for years (sorry, that's probably not the best phrase) to cash in on the name. They've become a charicature of themselves & it's just...bad. I think even I've seen them 2 or 3 times & the plan crash happened when I was 2 year old, for god's sake!

I used to do sound for some distant COUSIN of them, who had the last name Van Zandt. If I remember, Jimmy was his name. Very little talent, just milkin' that last name....:D

I've been thinking about it, and I'd pay to see Dan Perfect. As long as he was milking it as a FM cover band!

Docility and servility are not virtues. I don't aspire to being "nice" or "agreeable," and the older I get, the less tolerance and patience I have for other people and their assorted BS. Other people's problems are not my problems. I am not going to "be the bigger person," "see it from your point of view," or otherwise sacrifice my own self-respect for your convenience. I enjoy my own company more than anyone else's. If you can't add anything but stress and frustration to my life, then there's no reason for us to associate.

This morning...
The day to celebrate a New Year full of hope, faith, and love...

And to close the door on heartaches and pain in 2011.

My nephew, Ian, a 13 year old child passed away. I am looking at photos of him and his brother right now. I had a hotel room in San Diego with a whirlpool in the bedroom...so, I filled it with bubble bath and the kids were playing hide and seek in (no exaggeration) a huge room full of bubbles...they were having so much fun...I think I was having more fun then them.

Ian was the sensitive little guy. Tough boy exterior...but, the most tender of heart...and easily hurt...but, he kept it in.
my brothers wife used the two boys as pawns in a sick scheme...and insulting my nephew repeatedly about his weight and intelligence...all while she was consuming massive doses of bootleg methadone.

She took away the kids, wiped my brothers bank account, shut down cell phones...etc. ian was close to my brother...and she didn't like it.

Before I left...Ian asked me not to go...and Uncle Jimmy...please stay...

Why are the most loving, sensitive, good and kind souls always tormented the most by people?

My nephew was found dead in his bed this morning. Grape vine stories are saying he was so sad...and he was taking his mothers methadone. She took the kids and shacked up with some guy that put her in a BMW.

If you pray...
Send one to my brother and all those that are so far beyond grief....

Let Ian's mission designed by God...be a catalyst for miracles...as his death be a ripple effect to go and make awareness enough to stop the reasons my little angel and others like him...leave us so soon.

I love you all...let's embrace love in 2012...and away will go pain, crime, hate, sadness...

I agree. I always thought life was supposed to be over at 30, but amazingly, it does just get better. I thought about this, a lot, yesterday...
2010 - was truly the year of reinvention for myself(even though many crazy things came from it)
2011 - was spent refining that reinvention, much more focused on greater goals.
2012 - who knows? But I've got a really good feeling about it!

JTIS, that I'm not feeling my best today (entirely self inflicted of course.) Flew home from Barcelona early this morning, after a lovely few days. Had far too much to drink last night ringing in the new year. It was so much fun doing the countdown to midnight down La Ramblas with the locals, that I did it all again an hour later to celebrate midnight London time! Am such a wino - woke up this morning in my hotel room to a ridiculous number of empty wine bottles. As you can imagine, flying back home soon after was an absolute treat ;)

On a side note - Barcelona is such a beautiful city. Wish I'd had more time to explore.

We were given our exam titles in art today, it's a page of headings to choose from and at the moment I'm leaning towards 'Star' I just think there is so much I could do with that. And d'ya know what? If I did that I could carry on painting/drawing Stevie and Fleetwood Mac. My art tutor likes them as well and I don't see any reason to stop doing it if I'm enjoying it?
But there's something holding me back from choosing that and I don't know what it is?

I can't take this rollercoaster!!! Together for a couple of months, then split up for a month, then get back together for a couple of months, then split up for a month(NONE of these splits are my decision).

Sunday, we had the best date we've ever had....then Monday night I get a call, that we need to take a break(because a coworker wants to go on a date!!!)! WTFF?

Why do I tolerate this? Well, I'm completely in love...but I don't know that I can take much more of this on/off crapola. I'm not a f*cking light switch. Yet I've been a light switch, for 2.5 years now. I wish I knew how, or wanted, to stop(of course I want to stop the bad times, but the good times are the best thing ever). But I've felt sick to my stomach since Monday night.

Yeah, I know...I'm being a doormat, and need to stop.

I can't take this rollercoaster!!! Together for a couple of months, then split up for a month, then get back together for a couple of months, then split up for a month(NONE of these splits are my decision).

It's time to move on my friend. Your counterpart has shown their true colors quite a few times.

You remind me so much of a couple friends of mine back in the Carolinas. Both were right about your age, loved dating folks who were in their early/mid 20s, and both got their hearts smashed again and again. The reality is, at 40, you've pretty much settled into the person you're going to be the rest of your life. You know who you are, what you cherish & dislike, you know what your trajectory is, you've got your career & home settled, you know exactly what you're looking for in a dating partner, etc. Most people in their 20s are still trying to figure all that stuff out. Dating someone who's in such a different phase of their life might work for a while, but over the long haul the odds are just plain against you.

Well, what keeps me going IS, that when it's good, it's so good. The intimacy is the best I've ever had in my life. Like I've never had with anyone else. Tender, gentle, holding, with absolute trust. And our sex life is great, too. But it's that gentle intimacy, that keeps me hanging on...
And a huge part of the problem is,...that I'm the only partner, EVER. I knew, and know, that dating a virgin was going to be a problem. And I've been told all along, "what if we do end up together forever, how can I have only been with one guy, my entire life?" So I DO understand that. The good parts are really good, but the bad parts are really bad(not mean, we've never had a cross word, ever).
At the very best, it looks like we're at least on hiatus, until the next time. I'm sick over it...the best I can hope for, is that this coworker guy turns out to be an ass! :D

We're supposed to talk on the phone, in a little bit. I feel pathetic. Honestly, though, I've turned down going out with other people, a couple of times in the last month. I'm really not interested in dating anyone else...

And Louie, I know you're exactly right, about the 24 and 40yo trajectories. Although I'm willing to sell my house and move, when the PhD is finished. But still, yeah, at 24, you don't really know what you want yet....

According to a newspaper I read this morning, Mick Fleetwood's disastrous appearance on the Brit Awards with Samantha Fox is the biggest reason for its lacklustre viewing figures and interest since. This amuses me greatly. I can't help but respect him for messing up so spectacularly. That show is dying a slow and lingering death.

Can you tell that I hate music award shows? They're about as rigged as a building site..

Jim H Ford:xoxo:

i'm so sorry, sending prayers & love your way~

JTIS that I'm currently drinking a cup of tea and procrastinating online, when I should be lesson planning. I'm finding my teacher training year very tough at the moment. Rather than spend the evening working, I've buried my head in the sand & awarded myself a few hours off.

I really enjoy teaching but it has taken over my life over the past few months. I'm told that it becomes easier as you become more experienced. Dear god let this be true!

You have helped me in my grieving process so much. Its the strangest thing, it seems totally natural in getting to know you all. Its like we are all working for Stevie and/or The Mac. So, we are working for our favorite...and we get to know each other on a more deeply personal way...the walls we normally surround ourselves with are less solid, built lower and sometimes they don't seem to exist. I am here in Boston. My sister went to San Diego. I wasn't able...also read my sister in law the detailed fact list of the truth. The harsh truth....the only way to deliver it...about 2 years ago. I surprise visited...Tom and I were in Arizona...and we dropped in. I saw first hand her cruelty and lies...she was so mean to my brother and Ian...Nathaniel was her favorite...she had him programed. I cried behind sunglasses all the way to Boston.

Here is Ian....I filled the whirlpool in my bedroom with bubble bath. Crazy...so fun.

I miss him...
and I love you all...
Jim

Urgh. I'm absolutely shattered. I got my deadlines all wrong and it turned out I had 5500 words in two essays to do for today, I found this out on Tuesday night, as it was the first night in weeks I'd had time to sit down and check my Uni timetable. Funtimes. I've just finished off my second essay.

I'm definitely suffering the sophomore slump.

No. He wears boots, and the floor was especially slippery. He went to do one of his rock poses, and his feet fell out from under him. What's funny is that Letterman said "now don't go suing us," and Greg's a lawyer. They offered to edit around that, but everybody wanted to keep it in. GbV is a very "warts and all" type band. They're antithesis of Fleetwood Mac in that regard. We kept laughing at it on the ride back.

First I have to say, if you're an art major...going to school...and your passion is your art...

The secret to amazing succes for an artist, actor...is to totally get knocked out by your stuff...why did you use red? I love the red...that painting takes my breath away!

Well, yeah...Bob might be a homosexual with the sickness of the mind...but, I think Jimmy the passenger is sicker than Bob...he was getting into trouble with a guy that looks like a cross between Rupert Hine and and Mick Fleetwood.. love is blind...and. a stiff di*k has no conscious they say...

I wish that Ben Cohen had a sickness of the mind...my real name is Jimmy and when I was in my 20s and single...I wish Ben would pick me up and let me drive him. Somewhere.
...what's bigger than a smile...Ben, child...
if you don't believe me just image google him.

Seriously, he is one of the first celebrities...or one of the first anybodies (if not the 1st) to address gay teen suicides here in the US! And he's from the UK! He's is hopelessly straight (haha) is married with twin daughters...and he is man enough to be a man and support gay folks with such heartiness and love for all mankind. He made the first webcam video addressing gay kids to seek help and not stop until someone listens and helps. Until this very day it has become his mission and passion for everybody to be equal...and he speaks out aggressively against haters...and his message is...EVERYBODY deserves to love and be loved. Everybody. He is up there with, my Nana Mac, Mum, Tommy, Mother Teresa and my Aunt Joan...and ofcourse Stevie...that are heroes in my eyes and soul...for their often unsung and unreported selfless acts of love and compassion and kindness. Also, many of you guys here on the Ledge...for you guys that unconditionally sent your love and support during my periods of strife and tears...you are the ones that carry me back to my advocacy work...and the ripple effect of love for making goes on and on...

Today is a new day...that's what I keep telling myself. Well, it's a sh*tty new day!:(

I'm fairly certain, that I finally pulled the plug on my 2.5 year rollercoaster relationship, last night. I'm so sad, but things had really reached an impasse. Last weekend, I was deceived, used, then suspended from service on Monday(it's quite ironic, actually - Sunday night, we had one of the most intimate, hot nights we've ever had, then Monday, I was told that I was being replaced). FML.

But at least I stood up for myself last night, and said everything that needed to be said. And even though we've broken up quite a few times before, this one feels final, because there was never someone else entering the picture.

But I've only had two real loves, in my entire life, and it hurts so much, to see the second one end. :( I'm not searching for pity, just venting...

But I didn't find it funny. Beliefs like this, no matter how old they are make me loathe myself more than I do on a daily basis. Such is life.

It's hard to pinpoint what was the catalyst for going to bed earlier. For about a year and a half now I have become a workaholic which requires me to wake up between 5-7AM. In doing this, my body I think becomes naturally tired around 7PM which enables me to go to bed earlier. There are still some nights though that my younger body clock kicks in and I'm up til 3 or 4AM. I rarely get a full nighs sleep. I usually wake up after 3 hours, go right back to sleep and then wake up every 1 or 2 hours until I finally get out of bed completely. Thanks to all my years of abusing cigarrette's and marijuana I developed a sleeping disorder called Sleep Apnea. Even though I have been cig free for almost 10 years and pot free for 3, I still suffer the conditions those obnoxious habits brought on.

Man I hate cleaning! I feel like all I do is clean lol Then when I take a break and watch some TV or go on my laptop someone comes home and is like "Why are you doing nothing? you've done nothing today..." I'm like "uhhhh I just cleaned the house and took a break...."

Then, of course the EASIEST thing ever...put dishes in the dishwasher...obviuously no one can grasp that and just leaves everything by the sink...Bitch...****in rinse it out and put it in the dishwasher...

OH...and the game.."lets pile everything on top of the trash can so it looks like mount evrest and see who will cave and change the trash..." Hate that too...

AAAND! "oh let me just take my shoes off and leave them in the middle of the floor so people can trip over them" even though where the shoes go are right down the hall...

Cant forget..."I'm gonna eat in the living room but not bring my dishes in the kitchen..but leave them in the living room for DAYS til someone else picks them up"

AS WELL as..."I'm just going to take my clothes off(that are dirty) and NOT put them in the laundry basket less that 4 ft away and just leave them on the floor mixed with my clean clothes..."

Being me is HARD lol

My day friggin sucked.

Started the day by almost getting hit by a car driven by an old fart who must have been staring at his gas gauge while pulling into traffic. Ended up giving him the finger and shouting obscenities at him. Got my feet soaked on the way to work because my shoes are falling apart. Bus broke down on the way home, and ended up trapped onboard for 40 minutes with a shrieking baby behind me. Finally get on board the replacement bus, get home, and my white trash next door neighbor is blasting contemporary country so loud the walls are shaking.

Damn it, I just want to take a nap!

I'm definitely a Monica Gellar when it comes to cleaning. The first thing I did when I was house sitting at my brother's for the week was clean the place from top to bottom. They have two boys so it's not the cleanest place in the world. But it was by the time I'd finished. Even defrosted their freezer for them.

JTIS, I just got home from a play starring Katy Manning who played Jo Grant in Doctor Who. I really don't care that I'm telling everyone because I met her and she is the loveliest person ever.

The play was hilarious, too! :blob1:

Been down south now over 2 years and snow and cold grey blustery skies are the one thing that make me cringe whenever I think about someday moving back up home and one of the reasons that keeps me here. 3 short months of summer weather wasn't enough anymore.

I hope you have a better day today!!!

Shouldn't all this have happened today - Friday the 13th!!!!!!!!

I don't consider myself superstitious, but I had one of the worst Friday the 13ths, ever!
About 10 years ago, I finally landed a job, doing sound for this very popular band. I did them for about a month, and things were going well. Well, we were loading into this club, and the club had their own PA system. Well, I like working with my own mixing console, so I was loading it in. It was winter, and the sidewalk was slick, and I lost my footing, and it hit the sidewalk(it was in a road case, but still, it hit pretty hard). So we load in, and do soundcheck, and everything seemed fine. During the show that night, the f*cking PA kept cutting in and out. We couldn't figure why it doing it, but it was awful. We ASSumed that it was because my mixer had taken that hit.
Well, the band blamed me, and I was let go, the next day.:(
BUT, it turns out, about a week later, that I found out that one of the club's amplifiers was bad, and had been cutting in and out, regularly. Thanks for telling ME!
So yeah, I lost my gig, due to SOMEONE ELSE'S crappy equipment!
And I've been a little afraid of Friday the 13th, ever since!!!!

My band is playing a show tonight, wish me anti-Friday the 13th luck!:woohoo:

I understand what you going through.About 6 years ago I was walking to my job like I always do.The time was this time in the winter. As I was walking on the sidewalk. This woman came speeding out of her Apt parkinglot. She was to lazy to finish scraping her winshield off.So was a little peep hole to see out of .I ran my fat a$$ out of her way so fast and cursed also she almost had my lunchbox thrown into her junkbox car.

Yes rude neighbors.I put up with 18+ years of BS at my old APT.I probably call the police a dozen times when I was there for loud music, loud parties.I would not have problems with blasting contemporary country music.I would enjoyed it.Of course not at bed time. With my luck.I got stuck with Rap Hip Hop crap .Maybe thats why I cant stand the gender. One tenent liked rock music and the same tunes and bands I like and played it loud even with Stevie Nicks which of course I enjoyed.I traded some music with her.Gave her some more Stevie tunes.which she loved Stevie.

You be SAFE, my friend. I had one at about 19...a trip down a gravel road, sent me flying down the road, holding my face from the road, with my bare palms. I got up, rode that dangerous thing home, and put a for sale sign on it, the next morning.

And I can STILL feel my palms in that gravel. Seriously. Like it was yesterday.

I do but I rarely play them. I bought a tape to mp3 player and they don't transfer very well. Upon playback I have to crank the volume and it still is hard to hear. Perhaps you can help me figure out a better way? I have many FM concerts that are better quality than the mp3's people have posted and I would love to share them. $130. Features a built in pre-amp, so if y0ur receiver doesn't have the phono input jack you can still use it. The sound is great, too! Otherwise, it's a no-frills record player that does exactly what you need it to do.

I know to some $130 may not seem cheap, but considering that turntables go for up to $2500 and more - it seemed like a bargain to me.

That's HOW I started taking my vacations by myself. I had a songwriting friends(we would attempt to write together), who would always make these Nashville plans with me. He went a few times, but then started changing his mind, up to even the evening before our departure. Oh I couldn't agree more with this! My friends know that if they cancel on me a few times in a row we may well fall out. It can't be helped now and again of course but all the time - absolutely not!

STOP BEING ME! My oldest and best friend developed a bad habit of standing me up for dinner. We'd make plans, then he'd no show on me. About the 3rd time, I was over it. Avoided him like the plague for about a month. He finally was like, "what did I do wrong?" WHAT DID YOU DO WRONG? He quickly learned that you don't leave me standing at some restaurant on the other side of town, REPEATEDLY, because you forgot about our plans(yes, things do happen, and people occasionally forget, but....it was becoming all too common).

Yeah, I actually like going by myself better, for the most part. My friend that I used to go on vacation with, was picky, and would only eat at certain places. It basically had to be a steak house, and he wouldn't try anything new. I think we all know my thing for trying new foods and restaurants!!! He has contacted me in the recent past, about going again. Honestly, I'd rather just go by myself!

I used to get a little lonely, but with technology now, not so much. Friends are always texting me, so it's almost like being with them, since we're constantly interacting.

I've got my first date ever tomorrow, and I could not have chosen a better person to ask! I'm taking my special person to the Zoo, followed by lunch at a bar on the Melbourne waterfront, and ice cream on the river banks.

I would love to live somewhere remote, away from the hustle and bustle and general annoyance of people bothering me  My greatest ambition is to move into one of those lovely "chocolate box" cottages in the woods.

I was never a country person, but don't like living right on top of others either like some communities where you can reach out your window into theirs. I hear of some people on FB having to drive an hour or more into town to the grocery and I think it's crazy. I've always been 5-10 minutes from anything I need and that's without having to live right downtown, which I'd never like.

Becca - this time last year I was 75 lbs overweight. I've lost 28 lbs so far, so 47 lbs to go!

All's I'd say is - slow but sure! 28 lbs is not much in a whole year - but it's stayed off.

Don't try and lose it all at once, just a pound or two a month is enough and it keeps your weight more stable. And it's not as daunting an amount to achieve.

But I have to ask - why you? You look just perfect from your pics!

Thanks for saying that, you put a smile on my face everyday!
It's not that I need to lose a lot of weight, but I'm about 5'8 and every single girl I'm friends with is 5'5 and a size 6/8 and being a 10/12 and 5'8 makes me feel like gigantor! So I'd just like to smooth out a few bits and tone up so I feel better about my self really.

Matt, that's HOW they go. Seriously. I know I've got way more miles on me, so I'll try to be gentle....but it's so hard to find "the right one". But.you.will.find.the.one.

It's so funny. Sometimes, physical attraction overcomes you, and(for older people, anyway), you hook up, and it's great. But then the next morning, not so much. It's just so hard finding that perfect mix, of attraction, AND compatibility. But you do want that mix. I have friends who regularly just "hook up", and I just don't find that fulfilling. Matt - Homer is right - and I'll put up with what I'm sure is an "I an so smart/right" dance to say that (Homer - you surely have one?!)

If there's nothing to talk about then things won't go well, even if at the time you do hook up (age approriately of course!) This is how dates go but when you do find someone and end up talking so much that the lights come on the bar/restaurant (again, nothing uderage please, haha) then it's so worth the wait.

Yes, it meant Facebook, where one can only get in trouble, for adding too many people!:(

But we had a nice exchange.

But Alan, you're on both of my FB accounts....what douchebag musician REPORTS someone, for sending them an add???? Because I don't know who reported me. Not that I even CARE. But I'm just curious....because they obviously don't "get" FB, the way the rest of the world does!
I RARELY(maybe once a week) even access that account, since it's my "public" profile, so I usually try to send a few adds, when I do.....I just wish I knew to never try to add them again, or buy their music, or buy a ticket to their show.....did I mention douchebag!(my all time favorite word!)?

I've come to realize something. I could have all the friends in the world and a loving partner like my fellow teens. However, I give it all up - because I choose to be different. Sure, maybe I could start wearing the latest 'threads', vans and awful snap-backs. But I don't fall for fads or cliches, and my favorite thing in my cupboard is my Doors shirt. I could choose to have Megan Fox or a lustful semi-naked woman for a pinup in my room, but my walls are adorned with photo's of Stevie Nicks, Tori Amos, Kate Bush and Jim Morrison. If I wanted, my favorite movie could be about fast cars, sexy women and guns - but I find comfort with Thelma and Louise, Alien, Blade Runner and Fried Green Tomatoes. I could easily start listening to music about one night stands or getting drunk, but I choose to listen to Neil Young sing about finding a Heart of Gold.

Sure, it may take a while for me to find a Heart of Gold... but i'm me, and i'm happy with that.

That I had a VERY traumatic experience today at work...My aunt was leaving work and some lady came up to her and said they saw a cat get hit by a car and the cat walked to the Rectory's door and laid down and passed away ='(

So my aunt called me and told me...so I ran down the hall and told Judy(co-worker) and we went to the front door and looked out the window and saw the poor cat dead. Judy and I didnt know what to do so she called the police and they tried to call animal control but they didnt answer so they left a message. Then, the police told us to move the cat over if we could and put a trash bag over it.

No one wanted to move the cat, but it needed to be moved since it was laying in the middle of the walkway at the front door. So I volunteered to move the cat. So I went to the kitchen and grabbed some gloves and a trash bag...cut the trash bag in half because I didnt want to put him IN the bag. I went outside and pet the cat and put my hand on his stomach to make sure he was really gone. His eyes were open and it was creeping me out..so I tried to close them but they wouldnt stay shut =\

I was wicked scared to pick him up. So I was telling myself "caitlin you wanted to be a vet you can do this..." so I picked him up and laid him on the trash bag nicely..like he was taking a nap and folded the rest of the trash bag over him. Then, grabbed a phone book to put on the edge of the trash bag so it wouldnt blow over(couldnt find a rock anywhere!!)...

I was fine for awhile because I was mostly in SHOCK that I did this...then before I left work I checked to see if animal control got him and they did..and it made me sad and happy..I didnt want him outside in the rain and snow(even tho he is dead)..So Ashley called me and was BALLING my eyes to her.

My aunt texted me and said "You will meet him again in heaven one day and he will say 'she is the one who laid me down with respect' " and that just gets me everytime...I love animals SO much and pains me to see them dead on the road and stuff...

P.S. please dont tell me what animal control does to the dead animals...

Love sucks. Everyone seems to find it except me. Then, when I think I find it of course it doesn't work out.

I felt this way for many, many years. Then there comes a point where you finally just love being you- and don't base your happiness on being with someone else- you actually just learn to truly love yourself. I know used to be a total serial dater- I kinda jumped from mini-marriage to mini-marriage. All of which were horrible, and the people were bad, bad, bad for me... but I wanted so desperately for them to work out. It's only when I got to the point where I truly loved being single (and wanted to remain that way), and enjoyed my own company, that someone emerged who was a good match for myself. It's far from the Hollywood/Disney version of what love/romance is, but my relationship is uplifting & so much fun.

Morale of the story is: just enjoy life and try to let it unfold organically... and try not to pressure yourself too much. You miss a lot of good stuff when you focus on & beat yourself up over something like trying to find your perfect match. :)

Matt, my 2.5 year relationship broke up on Jan 2nd, and I'm still having a terrible time with it. I actually feel worse about it, everyday. And it makes matters worse, that we're trying to remain friends. We texted a couple of nights ago, and the comments were nice, on both parts. THIS, was not good. It put me into a much deeper funk...

I honestly believed, for at least the past 15 months, that we were going to make it work out, for the long haul. I believed this, with all of my heart. We've broken up before, but it feels final, this time(although given our breakup history, I've always vowed, "never to say never").

We always had a lot of personal space, and time alone, which I was fine with. Not having someone in your arms, is one thing...not having them in your heart, is a another. I'm so freaking sad. If I were a suicidal person, I'd be in definite trouble right now(because I do feel THAT distraught - BUT NO, I'm not a suicidal person, before anyone reads something into that).

The hardest thing, is just remembering how to be alone. I was pretty much always alone, most of my life. I never minded it. I almost used to prefer it! I now LOATHE it. But day by day, I'll get through it...
JTIS

Matt, you're a really good guy. You'll find it. Just hang in there, and enjoy being yourself. Enjoy your friends. Enjoy life.

I'm 49 and I feel the same way. I felt this way at your age too. When I was a teenager and heard Stevie sing, "dreams unwind, love is hard to find," I knew right then and there it would be almost impossible for me to find love. I felt that if a hottie like her thought it was hard then I was totally doomed. And I have been totally doomed. I've about given up completely. Luckily the rest of my life is going blissfully well, but in the love department; forget it.

That took a lot of strength.

I remember feeling sad when I had to put my cat down. My mother stood in the corner and cried while they did the procedure, and I just stood by the table he was laying on and rubbed his head even after he was already gone. Animals shouldn't have to die like that...

After he was gone and I stopped petting him, the vet took him away, and they sent us his ashes in a small hand carved wooden box. They printed his name on a gold bar thingy that I ended up putting on the box. They also gave us a clay plate thing with his paw prints and his name on it. I'm glad to have a part of him still.

I'm sure that the cat you showed so much respect for appreciated what you did.

JTIS...

Thank you so much for treating that Cat with the dignity he deserved. I'm sure up in Kitty heaven he's very grateful to you for being there with him and showing him kindness. It's awful to think, but not many people would have done what you did. I work at a Cat Sanctuary, and unfortunately losing an animal never gets easier. You'd think it would be Kittens that got to me more. But no. It's the elderly Cats who have spent so long there. And they get so sick and enfeebled that they need to be put to sleep. They've known suffering for so long in their life and a Sanctuary is their final home. That hurts. And yep. I do have tears in my eyes when I type that. They're at least lucky enough that my boss opened her home for them all to at least be able to have full bellies, social interaction and shelter, even if not that human they deserve to have.

Its just that everyone at my age (i'm almost 17 now ) seems to have a girlfriend or a boyfriend or a this and a that. Look, i'm happy with myself for being different and I certainly know that hinders my chances on finding someone.

I'm 23. I've never even been kissed. Be thankful you're not me. At this point in my life I've given up on the idea that a man would have any reason to look at me twice, never mind find a reason to like me like that. There's so many pretty, intelligent, funny, charismatic and damn close to perfect women out there. I'm no competition.

On a lighter note, here is a recent conversation I had with my beautiful mother!

(listening to The Carpenters)
Me: Isn't it sad, about Karen Carpenter?
Mum: Oh yeah, didn't she choke on a ham sandwich?
Me: *ugh* That's Mama Cass, Karen Carpenter died of Anorexia
Mum: She definitely wouldn't be eating a ham sandwich

And I can add a couple more - beautiful, generous of spirit, and extremely kindhearted!

I want to weep since I feel like an old lady right now.

I am almost 36 years old and have been in a relationship for almost 2 years with an amazing man. He is the ONLY guy I've ever dated and we didn't get together until I was 34 years old. Never dated anyone in high school, college or even in my 20's. It.just.didn't.happen for me.

During those years, I figured out who I was, did lots of traveling and things I enjoyed. It was fun and I met so many great people and made some life-long friends. Have fun in your youth!

There is PLENTY of time for you to find someone, trust me. Enjoy being who you are and reveling in that. You are unique and different but so is everyone else. ;) We are all into different music, movies, celebs, etc. but that makes us who we are! You will find someone who loves you for YOU and it will be magical. :)

I still have 1 cat...he's 16 and in perfect health(except for some allergies) I've had him since I was 5!! I can even imagine him passing!!!!!!! I think thats really sweet they gave you the clay plate with his paw prints...I'd want that foir my cat Nighttime. i also want his paw prints tattooed on me.

Thanks..I hope so =) Is it bad I named him? lol

JTIS...

Went to the dentist yesterday(yesterday was obviously not my day!!) and I need my wisdom teeth takenm out =\ Sadly my health insurance doesnt cover dental anymore for some odd reason. Oh and apparently I have minor gingivitis is a couple places and they want me to do a gum treatment...seriously?!?! Thats like $500 right there! Cant I just brush better, floss more, and use mouth wash everyday?!?! Its not like my teeth are gonna fall out...on a scale of 1-9(1 being good and 9 being my teeth are gonna fall out) like 3 spots are a 4.... ANYWAY, then my wisdom teeth are gonna be like $2000!! They have payment plans but even the payments are too high for me since I work part time...So I was thinking 1) switch health plans that cover dental or 2) find a real job ASAP...work my ass off and try and pay the whole thing

Ugh that sucks about the wisdom teeth !! ^

So today I had a customer on the phone who's name was.... drumroll please....

Harry Chin.

As soon as I hung up (and I on the call with another agent) we burst out laughing. It was great. Poor guy.

JTIS that I have some big decisions to make career wise at the moment. I know I have to make them but I'm burying my head in the sand. It's going to cause some trouble & I'm going to have to fight to get what I want.

You know that horrible feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you're worrying about something? I have that permanently at the moment. I'm 24 but in situations like this, I find myself feeling like a child.

Yay! I'm normally the person shouting "YOU'RE PERFECT THE WAY YOU ARE, YOU DON'T NEED TO DIET!" but I'm glad you're feeling good about yourself.

I saved as a draft on Tumblr a post that Marissa reblogged and I'm going to try and do it. It's titled Fab Ab February and basically outlines the month and each day Sit Ups, Push Ups and Planks, increasing the amount you do each day. I'm as happy with my body as I'm ever going to be, I just want to tone my stomach back up so I'm going to try doing that but with half the amount of exercises instructed so as not to go overboard.

You have to not worry about how it will effect others. You have to do what is best for you.
Here's hoping it will all work out for the best!

I would think with so many men grooming themselves well today, nothings thought of it. Plus you have both men and women using permanent hair remover gadgets today, heck I get surprised and find it sexy if a man still has (some) body hair at all these days.

 I am sure you will have similar over there!

It's a cold/flu remedy - it's a powdered concoction of paracetamol, aspirin, decongestant, and lemon flavouring that comes in sachets of a single dose. Empty in a mug and pour over hot water.

I think it's disgusting - would much prefer a mug of hot fresh lemon and lovely honey, will a liberal helping of whiskey! Does the job much better! :D

Me too! So I put my own honey and a bit of extra lemon in the lemon flavoured ones, with some sugar so it's tooth-rottingly sweet but I get the painkilling and decongestant effects too.

Do you have Nyquil over there? I always have a bottle on hand, just in case I feel sickness coming on. We probably have something similar to the powdered stuff....I was just raised on Nyquil, and I'm a creature of habit.

Now on the lemon/honey/whiskey mixture....I think you know my position on a combo like that!
