You could tell when it was live because it was a completely different pitch from the rest and would shake if she danced and such. Sadly she used the album versions for most of the choruses, but did almost all the verses live :)

OK I'm totally creeped out. I went to bed just before 11pm. I awoke around 2:30am to go to the bathroom and instantly notice the light is on in the living room. I go downstairs and look around. All the doors are locked so I shut the light off and go back to bed but ofcourse I can't sleep. I always turn that light off before bed. ALWAYS.

About 10 min. ago I heard what sounded like my door opening and closing so I wait 2 min. and then get the courage to go downstairs. No light on this time but I'd swear someone was in here. But what did they do???

I checked the History on my computer and nothing was done on here today. Could they have poisoned my food in the fridge?

I don't do drugs and I don't drink alcohol so I know I'm in my right mind, but man I'm freaked out and WIDE awake now.

Do you live in a very creaky house? Because I do, and I often hear strange sounds that sound like somebody moving around. But inevitably it turns out to be either the wind (even with your windows closed, if it's a strong wind it passing through the air vent can be enough to cause doors to open or slam closed) or just general floorboard creaks. You've only to look at a floorboard in my room to hear it creak lol.

I had this happen to me not long ago, it scared the living daylights out of me.. It was 8.30am i was sound asleep, when all of a sudden my LOCKED bedroom door opened slowly & bumped into the wall.. I heard a tiny voice say up & adams:shrug:( weird as its been a long while since i heard that saying) anyway i got up wandered around the house, saying who's there??? i thought it was my teenage son at first, his car was not in the driveway.. It was then i started to panic, thinking someone is hiding in my house:distress::distress:, so i grabbed a large kitchen knife, & my phone.. We live on 14 secluded acres & alone, my family had already gone to work & school... i searched inside & outside for 40 min, even checking for footprints & tyre marks on our driveway. I called my Husband & son at work, my son is a locksmith he said the wind most probably blew my door open, as it was a very windy morning, i said but i heard a voice too!! Why don't you all believe me!!! Anyway as it turned out he was right, my locked door didn't lock properly & the strong wind blew the door open & so i must of dreamt hearing the whispering voice:o:o:o LOL

Old Navy WTF!!! You're supposed to be looking for jobs in hair salons.

I know =\ But Ive already applied to some hair salons and no one has gotten back to me or their not hiring...So right now I just want a job that isnt my current one =\ and make some more money and get more hours. I'd be working 40 hours!! I do wanna look for a salon job. But I figured that if I have the old Navy job, itll keep me busy so I'm not just farting around all day while Ashley and her sister Sarah are at school...Because my job now is only at night for 4 hours 3 or 4 days a week...that doesnt cut it....

So to fill the gap and make more $$ while looking for a salon I wanna a full time job. I told them that right now I want a full time job for awhile, while i'm looking for a salon job. If I do find a salon job I'd want that during the day and then work at night at old navy.

It is all about the quality of the shop in my opinion. Go to a ****ty tattoo shop and there's a risk of lower quality ink. We would obviously do our research and we'll be fine.

Funny that Marissa popped up when tattoos got mentioned -- we got them together a few years back.

I do kinda miss that and fall colors. But not winter. We'll be hot and humid down here at least till December. I can't believe though it's gearing up for fall already up north. Nothing seems as rushed down here since living here as far as seasons. It's sunny humid and about 100+ outside with the heat index. And a possible hurricane on the way. I guess we'll see.

I'm always awake during them. I usually wake up at the sound of a Cat farting down the street, so I could never possibly sleep through an earthquake. I remember the last one I woke up during. I thought for a few moments that I was having some kind of fit lol.

Well....No offense. But does it matter? I mean, there's nothing that can be done about it now. So why not look at it with levity and use humour to find the silver lining? Isn't that what people tend to do? People always use humour to make themselves feel better. It stops people breaking down in the middle of the street because a Monkey from 3000 miles away stubbed its toe, or something equally redundant.

Still, it's not being taken lightly. Everyone on this side of the country was really surprised. All over the news. Local and national. Work places evacuated. My uncle works on the 24th floor in Philly and was sent home. My facebook news feed blew up when the quake happened. I'm not freaking out about it or anything. I thought it was pretty awesome that we got to experience something like that - it's so rare. And luckily it was small enough so it couldn't cause much damage.

Wow.

I'm just going to leave this here...

"Hearts break, hearts mend... love still hurts. Visions clash, planes crash... still there's talk of saving souls, still the cold is closing in on us. We part the veil on our killer sun, stray from the straight line on this short run. The more we take, the less we become... the fortune of one that means less for some."

God, I love Gawker (http://gawker.com/5833738/californians-are-being-insufferable-about-this-earthquake).

"Listen, we know the average Californian was born amid a thundering 7.5 magnitude quake and popped out directly into a mudslide. We've all read tales of how the bright pioneers of San Francisco bathe their young in tsunamis and kill mountain lions for sport (and yet would shrivel and die if the temperature fell below 65.)

But can we wimpy East Coasters just have our moment of absolutely ****ting ourselves in fear as our non-earthquake-proofed buildings wobble and creak around us? Can we crawl around on our carpets to survey the paltry damage—look, a book fell off a shelf! That could have given someone a serious goose-egg!—without some Californian standing smugly in the doorframe like they learned in grade school, chewing on a PowerBar from the earthquake preparedness kit they carry around in a Lakers fanny pack at all times?

We deserve our fear, California. Because of 9/11! This earthquake could have been another 9/11, for all we knew. Yeah, didn't think you had anything to say to that."

Though I've had this pic for a few years I was just wondering today the meaning of the car in this pic?
This pic signifies the time Mikey held his baby over the hotel balcony railing so the fans down below could get a good look at the newborn.
It's not a dog corral. They're wolves.

I can't tell if this was written with a sarcastic tone, but I kind of agree with most of it! When I left my office building right afterward, I realized I had NO idea where to go. There is a LOT of **** that could potentially fall in New York City. There would be flash floods of debris. I didn't think what we experienced was anything to be scared of but it did get me thinking that the East Coast would probably be up **** creek if a more major earthquake ever hit here. Our buildings are old, very tall and were not designed with withstanding earthquakes in mind. We are a pretty adaptable people over here on the East coast, I think as soon as we figured out WHAT the hell was happening, we all realized it wasn't too much to get worked up over (and kind of fun).

Plus yeah, that whole other thing. I think more New Yorkers than would probably admit go there before they think anything else.

Sometimes, complaining can really help you out.

When I first applied to Durham, I applied to the most prestigious college (similar to Hogwarts houses) at the university but didn't get in... they said that it was because I was an international student and all the slots had been filled. I was really disappointed because that college had everything I was looking for -- huge academic focus, VERY formal (grace in latin, black robed dinners) and best of all, it's the only college based in the castle at Durham -- students live in it and our bar/library/common room is inside. I got placed into a very modern college instead.

Well, I complained about my knee issues (since the modern college is far from the English department) and after months of arguing with people, they finally moved me.... to the college I originally wanted! I thought there was no chance I'd get placed in Castle so I am BEYOND thrilled.

Meet my home for the next three years...

In Winter this year, we had so much snow and ice that carparks just became ice-rinks, pipes froze, University and Schools closed and the whole country just basically shut down. I was in the halls last year, and I had to end up going back home, cause it was so damned cold, and the heating pipes were just frozen. I left my radiator on for a week, and when I went back, I might as well have not bothered  It might be a total system shock, when winter kicks in, especially if it snows, but, we're generally useless at dealing with the snow anyway.

You'll have a great time at Durham, I have friends who go there, and they say it's wonderful. Apart from the odd snotty person.

It usually snows a couple of inches or so which is not too bad. Last winter was particularly bad though and I think temperatures went down to about minus 5 or so from what I can remember. Lavender plants which I had in my garden for years were killed off. I must say, however, it did look very beautiful and mystical at times.
Just have yourself a good shopping trip to Newcastle, wrap up warmly and you'll be fine. :)

Well, I sure will look forward to reading your posts once you're here. Our summer days don't go much above 72 degrees or so in the North East. It is warmer down south.

The snow is usually around for a couple of weeks at time or so. Last year was the exception - but, hey, being a little cold is a small price to pay for being in such a great place.

Oh dear, it'll be quite the shock. We're lucky to get near 60 degrees in any season other than Summer. Most of the time, it's quite rainy though, so it's not that cold... just wet. Basically, lots of rain, grey days and not that warm sunshine. You'll get used to it though.

Snow varies, this year it was on the ground for about two months? Other times it stays for about a week or so before buggering off. And then there was that one year when the weather went barmy and dumped a load of snow on us in June.

We had quite a bit last year, to the point that in Bradford transportation came to a complete halt. I was stranded in town at Uni and had to slog it in the snow with my rucksack and a bag of books from the library miles back to my home. Wasn't fun at all. But then again I did escape the house at 3am the next morning to make Snowmen in the garden. So obviously I didn't hate the snow that much :p

Mainly because people have a vague idea of where Middlesbrough is, where if you saw Billingham they're all like "....wat"

I swear, it happened. I may be getting June mixed up with April, but, we definitely had a week of snow sometime in spring/summer. Unless I'm going mad. I can definitely remember it, mainly cause it was just so weird. And the aforementioned iceballs. I remember those vividly

How much rain are we talking?

On bad days? Near constant. On others? Just a heavy shower, maybe lasting half an hour or so. Most of the time, the rain is just lazy, drizzling rain. We don't get many thunderstorms or the like, but, we get a loooot of rain.

How much rain are we talking?

Don't go there Dani! No, seriously it's difficult to say. You have to remember England isn't known for it's good climate. You can get some seriously wet spells
and some days it rains non-stop - even in summer. Generally though, its not bad but it would be unfair to say we didn't have a lot of rain in Autumn/Winter but more often than not I would say (as the TV weatherman does) that it's intermittent showers. In a pretty city like Durham though it's not too dreary. Just make sure you buy an umbrella on your shopping trip!

Okay, so Seattle 2.0.... But what you guys are describing sounds a bit worse. In Seattle, we got a steady, all day drizzle 3 days a week or so all winter and only occasional hard rain.

I remember it snowing in June. Someone had said "I'll do that when it snows in June" to a teacher, and it did, so he had to do whatever it was.

Dani, you're best stocking up over here as and when. It's normally hot on my Birthday in the north west but that's 1 week away and I'm expecting to be wearing long sleeves this year haha.

Being somewhat of a Troll in mind this evening, I've been looking through past threads that I have posted in since my <s>reign of terror</s> earlier days on the board. And I've realised something quite interesting. My use of colloquialism isn't quite as "understood" as I assume it is when I'm typing away. I could say the most innocent of things, something that is so ingrained in my language structure that I barely even recognise it as local vernacular any longer, and receive the utmost for offence. For example, many moons ago I happened to mention that "Lindsey fans were the sh.it", and received negative comments because of it under an assumption that I had disparaged my own kind. When in fact "the sh.it" is a good thing. That was pretty awkward.

You just don't realise the effect of your words until it's already too late to take them back. I suppose this is a lesson that works beyond idiomatic language and translates perfectly well into anything that could be responded to negatively.

I always kind of liked them a bit but it wasn't until I saw them in 2004 in Newcastle that I became hooked. I only went because I was in the mood to go to a concert and looked to see who was on, saw Fleetwood Mac and though "they'll do". I was blown away by how good they actually were. When I got back I surfed the net for info and found the Ledge and lurked on here for years before I joined. Had excellent tickets for Sheffield for the Unleased tour but couldn't make it due to illness - I was devastated. I live in hope that they will return!

THE Brian j.

i am sorry to hear about your troubles. i am not trying to scold you, or be harsh at all, with my next few comments. Please note that i am saying this with all honesty, sincerity and it comes straight from a loving heart:

Nothing, absolutely nothing, is worth you taking your own life. The life you have is precious and should be celebrated. yes things maybe hard for you right now, have always been hard in the past and you may have hard times in the future, but YOU CAN rise above it all. Never EVER give up on yourself. You can do anything if you put your mind to it and no one, and nothing, should make you feel different.

When you think you have it bad, TRUST ME, others have it far worse so you should count your blessings and be thankful for all you have.

Do Not Do That Again! Don't even let those thoughts fill your brain. If you need help, go to someone and talk to them. There are places you can go for assistance like turn2me.org (i googled suicide help and this is the first thing that came up), churches, doctors and, of course, some folks here on the ledge. No judgements here boo. if you wanna talk to me, my ear aka PM box is open.

OK!? You Got That?! Ya Heard Me!? *hugs*

I'm so sorry about your relapse. I've been close to your position before, and I know how difficult it is. I just wish I had your courage to take positive steps to try and help myself. I've been a self harmer since I was fourteen and I've never been able to stick with counselling and such to help me. Urgh, don't get me started on how incompetent they are at Student Loans. First they tell me I've applied for £0. When I clicked "maximum" in both boxes. Then when I phone them to sort it out, the guy said they can do the tuition fee on their end, but I'd have to fill in a form to sort out the maintenance. Fair enough, I thought. So, they posted the form, I filled it out... and then when I get the "sign this to get your money" letter, the tuition fee was still down as £0.

ARGH they are such muppets i feel your pain! Last year I got a letter through saying they were stopping ALL payments because they thought it was fraud, turns out after hours on the phone it was just a mistake. Then none of us got paid untill november. Ahh I'm just about to go into my second and last year of HND Photography, then another 2/3 years optional if I want to top it up to a degree but i don't think i'll bother. I think i'm just going to try and get even more experience in the next year. I study at Wolverhampton but spend most of my time at Sandwell college, the college is sh!t but the photography department is brilliant! What about you? what you study? where?

I just bet you anything that if we could sort it ourselves, it would all be right within five minutes. The people who operate the complaints division must be working on commission.

See above post about working on commission, lol. I wouldn't mind so much, but this is the THIRD year I've had problems with them. Last year they received THREE separate packages of documentation (not to mention all of the work that had to be done by my mum to get hold of the relevant documentation as they needed her and my father's disability allowance documentation, income support and all kinds of things that needed to be sent off for) after losing them, only to find the first lot of documents at the bottom of the pile. They couldn't find their arse with both hands, I'm sure. Ooo..Photography! My friend is really into Photography and does a lot of shoots on commission. She's very into the macabre. Do you have a Facebook? I could send you the link to her group if you like. Has some very nice stuff. I'm about to start my third year Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Fine Art, with Minors in Drawing Studies, Theoretical Studies and Personal Development (Obligatory or I wouldn't bother with that one, haha). I'm studying at Bradford College's Art Department (Terrible. Absolutely terrible), and I'm hoping next year to either study for my Master of the Arts in Chester, Lancaster, Cumbria or, if worse comes to it, Leeds.

They are taking the piss now with you though espesh how you've been doing it for three years! I don't have facebook but my friends keep pestering me to set one up so when i do i'll hit you up for that link. thanks (: Oh wow what you do sounds brilliant! It does suck when the college is crap. Sandwell is full of chavs and it's pretty depressing but as soon as i get into the basement it's okay i suppose. We move to a new building though half way through the year which will piss us about.
Ahh i bet you get into your place of choice :D

They're all incompetent morons. I used to have a friend who had worked in Student Finance, and they said that the whole place was a complete shambles... it doesn't surprise me in the least. The amount of people I know who've had trouble with the finance this year... it's ridiculous.

Blah! I enrol on the 5th and still have no confirmation. Wish me luck!

I will make this short...I was discharged from the hospital for 3 days before I had a complete breakdown/relapse and readmitted myself. Had I not I would not be alive today (I had attempted suicide on a serious note twice last week) so I am still struggling to cope with all the **** in my life.

Keep me in your thoughts & prayers.

You deserve a lot of respect for realizing you needed more help and getting it. I am hoping that this hospital stay will help you further improve.
