He says it's just a regular camera. What is a regular camera? A regular camera doesn't take pictures as awesome as his does.

Yes I got a regular Nikon but some of my photos are blur vision do to my heavy hand pushing the shutter button.

I got to take a course photography or have my nephew show me some tricks since he went to photography school.

Girlfriend, that's the question...

Well, I started a very "rare?" relationship with a girl I met on Twitter, thanks to a common friend. We wrote to each other for over three years, and last year I discovered she was going to the same gym that I. One day, in February, we finally talked, and it was like if we had known before. We became friends, but today that changed. Now we're together, but we're not a couple. We've been seeing in secret, and maybe that's why this is not official yet...
Anyway, I'm so happy!!!!!!!! :blob2:
Regards.

havent been on here much...my laptop was on the "Fritz" (no pun intended lol) So I had to back it all up and restore it to factory settings...so I've been trying to get everything back on my laptop and sorting through things that I want and dont want lol

ANYWAY, nothing real interesting has been going on....I turned 23 Monday....went shopping, did mini golf, and went out to eat...

Then Tuesday I brought my mom to Worcester for a meeting with her Neurosurgeon....If many of you remember back in 2011(October) my mom had a non-cancerous tumor removed from her head and now its grown back but only the size of a pea...and she had a seizure Dec 30 2012) because she wasnt taking her meds....so now she cant drive for 6 months again lol So we dont want to do surgery again,..so we are going to try radiation at the point and around the tumor...So now I'm just my moms driver for awhile bringing her to appts and stuff...MEH

Btw, I LOVE my job at the salon I've been at since Nov 2012...We only do haircuts...its called "Great Clips" and i make so much more money there then I did in a full service salon...who would have thought??? I cant wait to get my class 1 license and work on my own =)

Nothing really else is new...just working and stuff...trying to get tickets for next weeks FMac show lol

Oh, I hear ya and I'll raise you one. I am a workoholic and I've put in major time this past week. I've only had moments here and there to check in to the Ledge mostly to find out if the damned EP is out yet and to hear the latest live SOTM. I have so much Ledge reading to catch up on and videos to watch that it literally is going to take me all weekend. Just today alone I've got 8 loads of laundry to do, dinner date with mom, blind date at 8:30PM, possibly grocery shopping and cleaning chores. Tomorrow is just as busy.

Self-employed sounds good.

I just came back from an hour long talk with my boss about what happened Saturday and just stuff in general. I feel a lot better that we kinda know each other better. It's still awkward cause basically for five years in was "in charge" of a lot of things, yet not the boss. The previous bosses didn't really care and gave me a lot of leeway/control and my fellow employees, who I been with a really long time, accepted that and I became the "Go to" person. Now I sit on the sidelines and say "I don't know" or "I can't" or "Ask _____ "

So, the happy story ended.
I remember I wrote about a relationship I started a few days (or months, I don't remember...), but that is now history.
I discovered that I really want something more serious, and this girl only wanted everything secretly. I was so tired to go to some place to kiss and nothing else. I simply stopped it, and now I'm so happy, really.
But wait! I'm not sad. I suppose is a part of the experience you gain. But I know one thing: I don't want to see her anymore, and I can say that if it was experience, it was a very bad one.
I'm so busy with my family and with the university, so I think I must have more important things in my head. And music, of course!! I'm still writing lyrics, but not music. Maybe in the future I'll be searching for chords to complete them! :blob2:
Regards!
Mark.

I don't know you, Mark. But I heard someone say recently that the best possible response to any bad situation is "make good art". And I agree. Glad to hear that you're writing and being
creative. That's the best thing you can do. :)

My family is coming to visit from Canada for the first time this summer! I'm kind of excited, as I've always gone home to do the visiting, but I have to admit I enjoyed the compartmentalization of my "England life" and my "Family life". They were very separate things and I've grown used to that. It'll be exciting to have everyone and everything come together, in a way. I just hope it turns out as well as I hope.

I am doing well. It's been an interesting couple of days, with unpacking all my stuff and reorganizing my room (almost done, but at least it's somewhat back to normal!). Glad I could see the kittens again since I had missed them so much!

He uploaded them all to his computer and then downloaded them to various small music sources. He has no more need for compact discs. I haven't looked at them yet. I told my massage therapist that I wanted to give country music a try, so I guess the universe decided I was the right person to give them to. I agree. I must admit I am sometimes skeptical as to whether there actually is a real difference between the genres anymore. It seems to me like country these days is just rock with a bit of a twangy accent on the lyrics. People who say they like "all music except Country" baffle me, in that regard. I think they react more to the association Country music has to social conservativism than to the actual music.

Enjoy, vivfox! Let us know some of the highlights of what you get. :)

Yes I agree. It seems like they are all getting mix with each other.

back when I fist started listening to country music in the 1970's rock/pop artists were called crossover artists and country artists were doing the same too on the pop charts.

Today its a mix bag of everything now on the charts.

You forgot to put the CD on the bed before you took the picture.

I'm so glad you said this. I was losing my mind trying to find the "hidden" CD in the picture. It was getting a bit Where's Waldo.

Cool stuff, SadAngel86!

And yes, hope the job interview goes/has gone well, MSB. :) Nothing makes me more nervous than those.

I got my copies of "Gift of Screws" and SYW Limited Edition (not together, they came a day apart). The limited edition is used and that's the reason for the rubber band.

The shoes are from Macy's and they're Keds. I thought they were kinda cool.

It's a light rainy day and I have the ventless dryer operating. The windows are open and I keep on going back and forth from being too hot to a bit chilly and back. I hope I don't catch a cold from this.

Yes the same here.Yesterday I notice my outdoor thermometer broken and its stuck on at 60 degrees. Its was in the 80's yesterday which I love.

here, for the second day in a row the OKC metro was hit by a large F4-F5 tornado:

Thanks. Just got back from the interview. It was a one-on-one interview with this woman about 25 minutes. She will call by next Friday, if I got the job.

Here's the catch - 6 months of training about 80-90 miles away before the store actually opens in my town in January. :distress:

I just grabbed any ole CD from the pile and just got done playing this one. It's titled NASHVILLE STAR (The Finalists). It's a bunch of cover tunes by various artists. The first song is by Miranda Lambert. Then we have Jamey Garner, Amy Chappell, Buddy Jewel, Natasha Valentine, Travis Howard, Anne Louise Blythe, John Arther Martinez, Kristin Kissling, Prentiss Varnon, Brandi Gibson and Brandon Silveira.

Miranda Lambert and Buddy Jewel are the only names I was already familiar with. The CD was pretty good but not enjoyable enough for a second listen.

Graceland - A new USA network drama

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y172/vteen2002/912528_10151640786451421_100223939_n_zps067eb32f.jpg

Tonight I was privileged to be able to attend a free advance screening of a new show to be airing on the USA Network called Graceland. I actually don’t really know how I got picked to be a part of this screening since it was sponsored by Entertainment Weekly and I haven’t been a subscriber of their magazine for a long time now. I think it’s because I’m a fan of another USA show: Suits and that’s how I got the email.

Anyway…..I left pretty early so I could have enough time to get downtown and get something to eat before the showing since I had never been to that theater before.

The AMC River East 21 in the River North neighborhood of Chicago is really nice by the way. I wish I lived closer to it so I could use it more.

I arrived about seven minutes after 6:00pm CST and the show was supposed to start at 6:30, so I had plenty of time. Before that, I was actually waiting for a bus that took too long to get there so I just decided to walk. It wasn’t too bad. It’s kind of confusing though walking on State St. north because you sometimes have to walk underneath certain streets and it can get kind of creepy.

When you walk into the theater, you have to go up a set of escalators to get to the ticket line. I didn’t need to do that since I had my email printout. What I thought was weird was that there was a casino immediately to my left at the top of those escalators. When I turned to my right, I saw a table emblazoned with Graceland all over it and I walked right over to check in. This is where I got my lanyard which I felt pretty special about. The lady crossed my name off a list and told me it was “Theater 9 to the right,” although what I thought I heard was “Theaters 2 through 9 on the 2nd floor.” Don’t ask.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y172/vteen2002/989351_10151641062861421_1517290768_o_zps1ca48fcd.jpg

Got to the second floor, past the concessions and there was theater 9 on my right with a Graceland sign thingy out front. Walked in and saw on my left: a table laid out with free popcorn, soda and water! There was another lady eyeballing the food and I told her “Wow, this is nice.” She agreed.

Show started not much later but before that they had scrolling ads/images of different cast members and various social networks you could connect to for the show.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y172/vteen2002/989394_10151641063326421_508282145_o_zpse190d1a2.jpg

The pilot was good - it didn’t grab me like some TV shows have (if you know about me and Chicago Code, you know what I’m talking about) but it’s definitely something I will check out again when it premieres.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y172/vteen2002/991191_10151641063081421_1918682391_o_zps60e91461.jpg

After the show, there was a live Q & A with the cast which was streamed live from New York City. During the Q & A, you could tweet the hashtag #GracelandTV and if you’re lucky, have your tweet read out to the cast. Most of them though were from the audience in New York. The cast were really funny in answering questions - especially one about why the house all of the agents live in is called Graceland - it’s because one of the former agents that lived there was an Elvis buff and the name stuck. They also revealed that the house was a real house, not a set built for the show, and that it was actually someone’s 17mil weekend/vacation home. Crazy.

After it was over and as we were all walking out, there was a table with sunglasses. Picked up a pair and I heard a girl behind me exclaim: “Oh wow these are good sunglasses!” They have the hashtag #GracelandTV | USA across the side.

Thanks! It was quite an experience as I said. Normally, I don't get to go to advance screenings of anything, but since this was being simultaneously done in 15 cities across the US, I think it was a genius marketing gimmick by both USA Network and Entertainment Weekly to both get people to come out and advertise the show before it premieres on June 6th.

Of course it was overshadowed by the Blackhawks winning Game 7, but anyway.

My fiance just finished telling our weekend guest how we've been busy cleaning the house in anticipation of her arrival. Ack!

Who raised this man? That is not how you do it! You're not supposed to admit you've spent hours cleaning! You're supposed to pretend you were far too busy to clean and live in an immaculate house at all times, while still apologizing for the "mess".

"Oh! Please excuse the mess! We got caught up!" is the line you're supposed to use while gesturing towards sparklingly clean entrance hall.

Damn him.

Next time you get a fountain drink at a fast-food joint, you might want to ask for no ice. Samples of ice taken from branches of McDonald's, Burger King, KFC and Starbucks found that the ice contained higher levels of bacteria than samples of water taken from the restaurant's toilet. (We'll pause for a moment to let that sink in.) None of the samples presented an immediate health danger, but four contained high enough samples to be considered a "hygiene risk." Experts chalk this up to the fact that toilets are generally cleaned more than ice machines, but we're still aghast. And will be drinking lukewarm soda from now on.

MSN cites the UK paper The Daily Mail as its source for that information. And I don't blame you for not knowing this, Viv, but the Daily Mail is an absolute sensationalist rag and everything you take from their reporting needs to come with a massive grain of salt. It is pretty well documented that ice in restaurants has more bacteria than the layperson would expect, but there's just a lot of things wrong with the original Daily Mail article that msn links to, and I just can't not comment. For example, vague citations (who are these "experts" they keep referring to?), and why on earth was toilet water used as the benchmark in the first place? There is no scientific reason for that, and toilet water is cleaner than many people think. They're obviously just using it to play up the "Ewww" factor.

Sorry if I'm coming off as a pretentious knobhead, and feel free to make up your own mind re: ice at restaurants. Some of the places do need to pay better attention to cleaning their ice machines. And how much faith you want to put in your immune system is a completely personal choice. But in most cases bad, sensationalist journalism is a lot more dangerous than bacteria.

But mainstream internet websites like MSN have recently taken to citing The Daily Mail as a legitimate news source, and people outside the UK who don't know what The Daily Mail is like are now taking these news reports at face value, and that's just... Really dangerous. In the UK, whether they love it or hate it, everyone knows what to expect from the Daily Mail, so I feel ok about it. And yes, The Daily Mail is about as good as a Star mag. But it looks and sounds a lot more like a "real" newspaper. It's the kind of publishing that's popular because it feeds the reader an opinion, and many readers prefer that to having to make up their own mind about things.

So, I understand the sourse is a gossip rag, but I have to tell you - I worked in a bar that had an ice machine. Another employee warned me one time to never use the ice in my own beverages, and when asked why, all he said was to open the ice maker, turn my head upside down, and look up into the machine.

Well, I'm glad I did, and I've not used an ice machine in 11 years. The inside-top of that machine was coated - positively coated - in black snot-like slime and mold

Sensationalist newsrag or not, the advice to avoid ice machines (especially in hotels where the cleaning practices are already questionable) is sound advice, and I'd highly recommend that anyone tempted to use one look inside of it first. Carefully.

Gossip rag isn't really it. I'd probably describe it more as the print equivalent of Fox News.

And yes, ice machines are often nasty bacteria haven. I did try to acknowledge that in my post. :) But the actual Daily Mail article that MSN cited was just appallingly bad, and it causes me physical pain to see websites cite it as a legitimate source. Gotta give the 2 cents, and whatnot. ;)

I have to say, I do call and text and visit many people that I correspond with on Facebook. I think social media doesn't necessarily mean the death of those things. There are a lot of people I speak with on Facebook that I wouldn't correspond with in a way that required more effort, but that'd be true whether or not I was their Facebook friends. I just really wouldn't bother keeping up with them at all if not for Facebook.

I do think you make a good point, though. Facebook does trivialize a lot of gestures that would otherwise be considered very meaningful and heartfelt, and I think that's really too bad. For example, I don't put my date of birth on Facebook, because it bugs me to have a flood of people come on and wish me "Happy Birthday!" just because Facebook literally told them to. That's just... icky, to me. The "like" feature is another one. I'm guilty of using it myself, unfortunately, but it is such a lazy way of completely bypassing any real interaction with someone.

I call, text and e-mail people too. Hell, I'm old-fashioned - I write notes and send mail because I know what a kind and thoughtful gesture it can be. Otherwise, I agree - and that is what Facebook is best for - keeping in touch with distant loved ones.

Yes, and this is why I'm considering something unusual...I might delete all the friends who live in Denver with me, only keeping the out-of-town folks. I just don't see why I should be expected to use Facebook as the sole method of communication with friends of 20 years who live a mile away from me and can't be bothered to use their phone to, you know, *talk*. It's absurd.

Sounds good to me. Sometimes it's worth testing relationships. They are work, and it's sometimes good to find out whether the work is really worth it or not. Let us know how it goes if you do go this route.

I've been a FB user for 11 months and while I always shared these same thoughts, I now feel differently. We all have busy lives and different schedules and I find it much easier to keep up with their lives online. That way when one doesn't call in a long time, at least I know why they've been busy rather than knowing nothing about them at all.

Does anybody remember their first Walkman .

http://www.walkmancentral.com/products/wm-10

Most of you probably worn out the Belladonna cassette in it plus other faves in it.

My first one was a cheap fleamarket no brand one for about $40 which also record too.

It had alot of wow and flutter while jogging.

Stevie's music sounded like she was freezing with the chills.LOL.....

Later on I got a Sony Walkman with auto reverse which records in both directions which was great for live recording. It was great for jogging with little or no wow and flutter .This model cost about $260 with the stereo mike from Tweeter ETC.

What wow and flutter means.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wow_and_flutter_measurement

My Sony minidisc took over the live shows in 2001.

On a sad note. Today would of been my late sisters 63rd birthday.I lost her in 2007 with breast cancer.

RIP Donna Lee....

I am sorry you are sad. I lost my sister too. When I reflect on my time with her...all I remember is the beauty of love...and how blessed I am to be her brother.

Sending love and prayers...

This is very true. But, when FB interaction becomes a substitute for all meaningful contact, it is suddenly less appealing.

I think many interpret the "Like" or comment on a friend's page as a legitimate social activity, and that's really just a false sense of interaction.

Not to sound whiny about it, but it's been bothering me. It's partly age, and partly realizing that I've been complicit as well.

You should have said it.

This is not a rant against Facebook, but after a few years of being there I'm starting to notice that Facebook is just an avenue that helps friends take their friendships for granted. There's no need to call, or visit or even text or e-mail - it's all on Facebook.

Sharing and commenting on status updates is not a friendship of any sort.

Well, I have a hard time with confrontation. I'm not afraid...I just LOATHE arguing with people. Dealing with hurt feelings(I'd rather just suck it up, myself - than deal with possibly hurting their feelings).

I'm a facebook whore. I can't leave it alone. Checking it constantly. I NEVER wanted to join...and Michelle2677(remember her, from here?) dragged me kicking and screaming, onto FB. And I became hooked!

Fact is...I have MANY more friends now, because of FB, than I used to. And I mean in real life! I used to be really anti-social, and after joining FB, I ended up invited to a couple of parties(where I literally only knew one person), and it was funny. Everybody liked me, and all of the sudden I was in the middle of this huge social circle in my town, that I was never a part of, before. I've analyzed the hell out of it, and it's true, I really owe it all to FB. I have party invitations almost every weekend, now...
And I meet with friends from there(that I never knew before) a couple of times a week, for dinner.

Karma, kids. F*cking karma. Gotta love it!!!

So, from my previous "all the new friends I've made in the past 3-4 years, mostly through FB post".....
In the large social group I hang out with, there has always been this one DOUCHE. He's a law professor(young - like 28), very good looking, and extremely stuck up. We've been at probably 10 parties together, and I've never even been able to get a "hi" in(and I've tried, I'm friendly towards everyone). But nope...totally get the "I'm better than you, and I know it" vibe. His girlfriend seems okay, but never got a hi from her, either...oh well, sh*t happens, right?
So last night, I'm sitting having a drink with a great friend, who really is the center of our social circle. We have previously and recently discussed Professor Douche, and how I think he's a stuck up POS.
----------
Okay - back story...I myself host BIG summertime pool parties, inviting about 50 people to them. The parties get wild, and are apparently talked about all over town.
-----------
Soooo, he comes up to my friend last night, and starts talking, ignoring my existence, of course. So I'm eavesdropping on their conversation, and he says,
"So, 'Mike', I keep hearing about these fantastic huge pool parties that someone hosts, that we've never been invited to? I hear the water is warm as bathwater, and things get crazy. I don't know who it is that hosts them, but we wanna go!"
My friend gets this sh*t eating grin on his face, realizing that I'm hearing every word the guys says.
He goes on and on, for about 5 minutes, and my friend finally whispers to me, "do you want me to tell him?" I said, "sure, as long as you make it funny".
So he points at me, and says, "this is my good friend David...he's the one who hosts all the parties you're talking about".
Well Professor Douche instantly becomes a new person...."Oh hi, I don't think we've ever met, I'm R***. If you ever want more people at your parties, you should invite us".
I just smiled and said, "sure, we'll see...nice to meet you".
Now there is no f*cking way in hell that they will ever get an invitation from ME. It would be an Eagles reunion(hell freezing over) for that to happen. If you think you're too good for others. If you have no empathy for others. If you think just because you're successful and beautiful, that you're better than others....well kiss my ass. Because a scummy douchebag like you will never taint my water, you stuck up F*CK.
Karma, my friends....it's a bitch sometimes!:D

I apparently my yahoo email account got all kinds of screwed up Wednesday when I clicked on an email "from" my friend. It seems that some really annoying spam is being sent around as it replicates the email and then sends it EVERYBODY in my address book. So now all my friends/co-workers got this email.

So if you get a email "from" a friend with their name as the subject heading, don't click on it, just delete it and then change your password, which my yahoo account will not recognize anymore, so now my email is all kinds of jacked up!

...and I'm going around calling everybody who could have gotten an email and telling them, while setting up a new account and changing my email on my Amazon, Ledge, and other online profiles....

Fun, fun, fun.........................:distress:

Hi Ed,
I saw you at the front of the stage in your usual spot after the show in Mansfield and you were talking to Grace. I wanted to talk to you but I had to choose between you and Grace and I haven't seen her in a minute so I'll tell you here. I know why you have stayed away from posting because Skip told me the other night you are tired of the BS said about Stevie and I wonder why any of that would bother you? You've been around here long enough to know that stuff is no big deal. Personally I find it funny how people take the whole experience so darn seriously. The Stevie bashers don't bother me one bit.
Everything you post is so interesting and valuable to the community. You must never leave us. We need your input always! Rhiannon, don't go...

How did you do it?

14 years for me.

I had been trying to quit off and on. Had done it a few times but always went back. Then one day my mom called, and I grabbed my pack of Marlboros and went out to the lanai. I was lighting one up when she told me she was diagnosed with lung cancer and they were going to remove her left lung and a 1/4 of her right one.

I put them down and haven't smoked since. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it.

I don't miss the slave part either, or the nasty, unhealthy part, or the cost, and I don't miss them 24/7.

But once in a while, someone walks by and I get a whiff of that nasty smoke and my lungs scream *feed me.* I guess after 30 years of smoking my lungs will continue to scream out every now and I'll just let them. I'll never smoke again.

Thankfully, it passes.

I just was diagnosed this week with a moderate form of Asthma .I started on the inhalers and I am honestly looking forward to being able to breathe better. I've known for quite a while that something was wrong. All that heavy cigarette smoking I did for 19 years and marijuana smoke I inhaled for 30 years took their toll on my lungs. I'm 51 years old now. In my mid 30's I used to tell myself while puffing away, that "someday you are going to pay a heavy price for all this smoking." I feel lucky I didn't get cancer from those abusive years.

My advice to you:

STOP SMOKING

Happy way to end this Tuesday!!
The best radio station here in my city Bariloche played "One Man Show"!!!!!!!!! I was really surprised, because you know, here the radios don't play FM -and solos- so much, so I was so happy! :blob2:
Well, this radio station is always playing the music of my favourites bands, and they dedicate the whole show to one artist.

Setlist:
- Cast Away Dreams
- Bleed to love Her
- Not Too Late
- Stephanie
- Come
- Shut Us Down
- Go Insane
- I'm So Afraid

They also talked about Lindsey's career, as solo artist and with FM, including the last work with the new EP.
"He's a great artist. As a singer, composer and producer, he released this new album, One Man Show, without external arrangements, as other bands do. With only one guitar, he plays his new and classic songs, and he does wonders on stage. This acoustic album is really neat and excellent" -they said. This is a good critic!!

Btw, ever walked into a room in your home after being away and see an avalanche of cd's upon the floor? My cats knocked my bootleg racks over spilling probably 2000-3000 cd's across the floor - not a good site for me, especially because the last time this happened it took me about 12 hours nonstop to reorganize the mess, LOL!

You're lucky you didn't walk in to find a dead cat. Those cd's could have hit them like a missle from Russia and then there really would have been a mess.

That happened to me, but it wasn't a cat...it was an earthquake. On a day where we had 2 separate earthquakes from separate faults (as opposed to an earthquake and multiple aftershocks from the same fault) about 3 hours apart. I was awakened about 4am by an earthquake, started out the "rolling" type, like floating on water, then a little shake. I hear the clatter of plastic CD jewel cases from the living room, I leapt into a doorway (which is standard earthquake procedure, since doorways are reinforced). Quake stops, all CD racks are safe...WHEW! Settling back into bed after my own self being "rattled", and pretty much just starting to drift off, about 7am the world starts shaking...AGAIN! This one started as a "roller", but then there was a strong "jolt"...the sound of crashing jewel cases, falling racks, breaking glass echo down the hallway. When the shaking stopped, I peeked into the living room...about a 4 foot high "mound" of strewn jewel cases, liberated CD discs, fallen CD racks, broken coffee table glass, etc.

Between putting the racks back up (and this time anchoring them to the walls), replacing cracked & broken jewel cases (and discovering which CD discs were maimed with stratches to where they needed to be replaced with whole new copies), sorting them all & putting them back in order, getting the pieces of glass for the coffee table top special ordered & shipped, basically, getting the entire room back to its pre-earthquake shape took about 6 weeks.

That "crash" of falling & cracking jewel cases is a sound I just never want to hear again this lifetime.

My name is Jim. I am not sure you are the Brian I am thinking about or not but, to me, it doesn't matter...
I wish I could make you a soul solid promise...or an iron clad guarantee that these events will never happen again. My friend and I laugh all the time when we can. Once we were at an event, people were taking pictures and I kind of ventriloquist whispered, "...sometimes I wonder if it was do this part by myself that forced me to leave it all...and enter that, CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED NUTHOUSE for 9999999999 times" I wasn't trying to be funny but, given where we were I mixed up words...and to this day we laugh.
Stevie said it best...loneliness is hard to take...I can feel lonely in a room full of loved ones and well wishers. Until, I created a rule. 33 hrs of misery, bed, tears etc....then I force myself to feel my blessings...call my funniest friend, talk to Mum...my shrink is a great rock. When I escaped LA the first time I met him. That was 17 years ago. So, he was given to me...and the whole science of pill buffets sucked. Clozoril broke the wild fast speedy sadness....the whole weight think sucked...but, here I am...back in good health, moody, working in entertainment with my best sober friend....I have this second writing this...who knows if I step off this high bed, where my legs are all twisted kind of sitting on them...one leg goes sound asleep, I put it to the floor and my head smashes into the big old house style steam radiators....and my time here is over...I will go on....but, that time is not on my terms...I pull the Catholic guilt on myself...hmmm....my Mums life will suck, Nana didn't raise me like this....my Tommy, finally my soulmate love would be alone....etc....I can't do that. So, even when I am sad...like they say in AA, NA, Nana's A....I forgot to mention I was also a total addict/alcoholic...and Nana said the same things differently, A-A...Fake it till you make it. Nana Mac, Jimmy, when you get sad in life and you can't stop it right away...rest for a few days...Then push yourself...even if you can't take the first try, wear Polaroids if you have to so no one sees and you don't have to look at them anyway...paint a smile and PUSH...finally you see that you're in the swing...making us all laugh...and you laugh too....and eventually you don't need to PUSH.
Still in therapy once a week...he's just a 900 dollar wailing wall but, I take Neurontin 2x a day Am …Pm, Methylphenidate (which I always forget however its weird...it keeps me calm) and if needed some blue pill for sleep...also, taken rarely.

So, Brian...Ledges...World....I keep no secrets. I Love, love and love.

I pray your sad turns to humor, sobs to laughs, tears to smiles....and that you find in yourself all of us.

You're loved and valued....we will keep you going when you just can't.

Well, right now, it's Ramadan. If you don't know what Ramadan is, look it up.

This poor guy - he can't even have coffee while the sun is up. I know faith is a choice, but often one we are born into without choice. Despite any personal beliefs, it's ok to have (and show) respect for things you don't believe or agree with.

Anyway, I feel terribly guilty eating lunch at my desk; but there's nowehere else to eat and I'm certainly not sitting in my hot car.

I really don't think God would care much about when you eat and where the sun is in the sky.

But my food hasn't tasted very good. I can't wait for Ramadan to be over.

I'm experiencing a similar situation myself. My boss is Muslim, and the break room/kitchen for our agency is between our offices. Food & coffee smells waft into our doors all day every day. And this being the South, people are constantly bringing mountains of food to work to share for various celebrations, and if you don't take any, folks get mortally offended.

I can't say I feel bad for my boss, she seems so very at peace with her religion & with the fasting. She actually seems way more at peace with her religion & it's trappings than any other acquaintances I've had who have been Christian, Jewish, Hindu, etc. In the end, everyone has such different relationships with their beliefs, friends, families, & significant others. Just so long as they're happy & content with those relationships, that's all that really matters to me. :)

I internet-met another asexual guy a few days ago and we skyped/Facebook-ed chatted for around 3 hours non-stop yesterday morning. Unless the guy is a fake profile, we have a lot of stuff in common other than being from different countries.

It felt nice to be asked about my boundaries in relationships for once instead of being told that someone's sex organ could cure my asexuality or that I was a mean person for not feeling sexual chemistry for another being.

I'm an uncultured swine and have no idea who Wentworth Miller is. Playwright? He just sounds like a playwright. Something like "Ashes of Bereavement, by Wentworth Miller" just rolls off the tongue. But from the look of those glam shots I'd say that's unlikely.

Regardless, it looks like it'd probably be fun to do things to his ass.

LOL, he might have already had his 15 min of fame. A few years ago he starred on a hit series I loved titled Prison Break. It was a fantastic show filled with male and female hotties set in prisons with all the wacky characters inside that you could imagine.

The name Prison Break rings a bell, but I think it might've come out in a time when that sort of thing just wasn't to my taste. I might still not like it, but I've recently discovered my inner prison-drama enthusiast with the stellar Orange is the New Black. Highly addictive. No male hotties for big gay me to gawk at, though.

Will have to look up Prison Break for a refresh. :)

Forget the 99 cent fast foods if they want $15.00 hour wages.

I do agree the min wages should be raised to at lease $12.00 hour but this will kill jobs and the economy.

With $15.00 hour wage that will make a Big Mac or Whopper US $ 7.00.

The minimum wage in Ca. has always been higher than the rest of the nation. Basically they are asking for a $2.00 an hour raise. For Ca. standards, it's worth it.

Ok I did not know CA was that much higher then the rest of us.

Its insane that people got to bust their nuts for peanuts of $7 and change.

Connecticut is now at $8.25 hour.

Maybe this whole country should go on strike for better wages but that probably will the growth of the recovery they claim that its healing.

I just heard on the radio .McD's and other fast food corporate headquarters said in a statement "If the workers want a pay raise,This means we got to raise the prices of our products".

So give them the $15.00 raise and the prices of food will skyrocket to pay their wages plus this will drive their customers away from buying fast food and in the meantime the customers are doing themselves a favor by not eating this unhealthy food and go eat something better and maybe live longer.

An absolute dumb**** of a man brought a cat into the rescue today inched in fleas and faeces, having taken her from her 3 week old kittens as he had lost them in his messy garage (he allowed his cat to give birth in there). Not only has he traumatised this poor cat, but by parting her from her kittens that were so young, he has effectively given 5 kittens a death sentence. I am NOT ashamed to say that by the time I had explained to the man in minute detail why what he had done was positively moronic, I had him in tears. It was pretty tasty, granted, but in what world do cut up pieces of anything constitute a burger?

In no world. None.

Those freaking bloody computer viruses.

Some how I picked up a dns proxy switcher with a host of other spyware in the last week.

Yesterday morning as I turned on my computer it just give me a black screen.

I shoved the Windows DVD in to get it up and running.

Then I run Malwarebytes about 3 times and found a load of crap spyware and it dumped them into quarantine then I deleted the files that were spyware,

Got to be careful and make sure you dont delete important program and Windows operating system files. If that happens>It will be a mess to fix it back to normal.

In the meantime I had reinstall my anti-virus program to make it work again since the malware screwed it up.

So far all of the other files are OK.

I usually run the antivirus software programs weekly but time lapse and I almost had a meltdown yesterday.

I see they shot up and killed unarmed woman with her child in her car in DC Thursday.I see some problems arise from this issue.

She used her vehicle as a weapon... she ran down a federal officer with her car. That's a very, very serious charge. On top of that she rammed the White House & Capitol gates, lead police on an 80 mph chase through one of the busiest tourist zones in the world, caused multiple accidents along the way, refused to surrender multiple times, and was aggressive towards police. I'm kind of surprised they didn't pick her off before they did, to be honest.

That being said, it turns out the woman does have a history of mental issues. But how are police supposed to know that? Even if they did, she was obviously out of control & dangerous. Unfortunately, this is just another sad example of how America as a society needs to get real about tackling mental health issues. Almost all of our homeless population, and everyone who commits these horrible mass shootings are all mentally ill people who slipped between the cracks. What's it going to take for us to reexamine our system of dealing with folks with mental issues?

How much time passed between when he took the cat away from the kittens and when he brought the cat to the shelter? Did he or anybody go back and find the kittens?? I'm not a fan of Miley's either really, but I am somewhat of a Sinead fan. I do think Sinead was kinda bang-on in her open letter in many ways, but I also think Miley's reaction was pretty much normal and to be expected. The girl is 20 years old, getting unsolicited advice from a total stranger that is published on the internet for all to see. Of course she's going to get defensive. I actually am a little disappointed to see that Sinead is perpetuating the conflict. She should know to let it go. Let Miley be 20. At that age we're all desperate to prove how all-grown-up we are and always unintentionally manage to prove exactly the opposite. Then we look back years later and cringe. That's just how it goes.

I think as of today with the internet ,Face Book,Twitter ,Ipads and Iphones and other media in which gets around faster then the ole radio or TV.

Plus to add those TV shows that thrive on dirt on celebs with their problems. They twist the stories left and right in turn to get ratings .In the meantime what the celeb did was minor.

Unfortunately we didn't have a happy ending with this one. A few days after mummy arrived the man brought two of her kittens to us; because of the length of time that had passed without food we had to draw the conclusion that the other 3 had passed away. One of the kittens he brought was already in the process of dying (There was nothing to be done but make it is comfortable as possible). The other kitten, a little black girl I've dubbed "Little Dot" has been placed with a foster mummy. Unfortunately not long after mummy cat came in she was found dead (The kittens she was feeding are all fine and thankfully are weaning very successfully). Our vet believes malnourished had a major hand in her death. We're currently endeavoring to find the man so we can pursue criminal charges against him for animal cruelty and neglect.

“I ran home from school to watch Dark Shadows” is the mantra of millions of baby boomers who came of age during the 1960s and 70s. Dark Shadows was a daytime serial like no other: the show told traditional soap opera tales of love lost and found in a most non-traditional way: it’s characters were a menagerie of vampires, werewolves, witches and ghosts.

Bee's right. You're just a pig. My intention was to post a pic of a cute guy. That's all. Michele told me a few years ago not to post anything sexually suggestive and I respect that.

Ah ok. Sorry if I got on touchy territory, viv. Blame my Saturday night merriment.

Now to find a way to dramatically yet organically change the topic...

*ahem*

So, uh... speaking of stuff: A "storm of the century" is due to hit the South of England tonight. Yikes! It's been named after St. Jude, the "patron saint of lost causes and desperate situations". Which is lovely and comforting. ;)

*ahem*

Because we are not speaking these words and only reading them I think you might have misunderstood what I said. You are not a pig. I just wrote that as a tongue in cheek word because you jokingly asked if you saw something there or were you just being a pig. Most of us men and some women see phallic symbols wherever we can find them and seem to derive amusement from them. I was thrilled that you and Bee commented on my pic because I used to get a lot of compliments on them and nowadays it is rare to hear any word from anyone. I change the pics every 24 hours unless I'm busy and can't get here and just like on facebook I wish there could be a LIKE under my sig pics that people could click on. I love posting pics and I love all your contributions to The Ledge, Dex. You are a valuable member who seems to get along with all the members of this site, and seem to be respected by all the FM factions here and believe me that is hard to do. So this was not touchy territory. Almost nothing makes me mad. I have a wonderful sense of humor and very little offends me. But as I stated earlier, Michele sternly warned me to keep my pics G Rated and I understand her concern and respect her decision to run this board as she sees fit.

Aw, thanks for the warm squishy post, viv. :) I didn't really think you were upset though, but can't always be sure of people's tone on places like this, as you say. I feel like I have to be careful sometimes, and am still "new" here in some ways.

I do enjoy a lot of your sig photos, for the record. That one in particular just tickled me. ;) How on earth do you get ideas for a new sig every 24 hours, though? Yeesh! I never come across even a single image that I'd be moved to put in a signature. But then, I'm probably just lazy.

I just heard a studio version on the radio of Rhiannon that I have never heard before in my life. Lindsey's guitar was more acsentuated. After Stevie sang taken by the sky, instead of a short musical break it went right into dreams unwind loves a state of mind which was sung 4 times instead of the usual two.

MacShadowsBall

Vivfox, it could have been the single version, which is on the 2003 VBO. The guitar is like double-channeled or some mess like that.

Um, that is strange. As far as I know there are just two official versions of Rhiannon - album and single - and it wasn't some live version or a demo, I wonder what it could have been.

Interesting things that happened at a store where I work in E. Tennessee.

First, a crazed overly religious man keeps coming in and lecturing our younger female cashiers who happen to be Christians themselves (the sane kind). He has tried to apply to our store and has threatened the cashiers that if they don't call the number he provides to them, then they're going to hell. The managers told us that they were going to throw this guy out of our store if he pesters the cashiers again (or at least pesters them to the point of them crying).

Second, before I got to work yesterday (Halloween), a bunch of female customers got into this huge argument over a big pile of sales candy. It wasn't even the good type of candy either.

So WHY does dating SUCK? Really?

So you go back and forth, and it's never 50/50, but hopefully it's 60/40ish, but why do people HAVE to play these ****ing games???? I f*cking HATE dating!

So things are great, until I'm the one who's all attentive, and hanging on every word, then get handed "space".........and then I pull back, and wait an hour to respond to a freaking text, and then get all this lovey dovey crap back, "is everything alright? I miss you". ARGH!!!!!

So it all boils down to.....we both like each other, but if I act like I like you too much, you back the f*ck up, and act like you're not interested....so then I have to play this F*CKING GAME, that I don't like you, and ignore you, and THEN you chase after me.

Yeesh. There are times where I think being a gay guy is just a lot easier. But then, there are gay guys who'd probably tell me I've just been really ridiculously lucky to have never encountered any games.

On another note, I just found out that someone I dated quite a while back is now serving jail time for luring and having sex with a 14 year old (he's 31). And the possession of child pornography. 6.5 years. So like... whoa. I have no idea how I feel about that, honestly.

Now I know why I can never find him on Facebook.

Well the only positive to this situation is, that I have been planning a major move in the spring, and I had decided that I was going to postpone that part of my life, as long as this is going well...

And things are still going okay, I guess....I just HATE this whole "I have to act not so interested, for you to act like you're interested".

So yeah, even though my heart is invested in this, my big move is still sitting on the back burner. So if things fall apart, my next chapter is ready to start. That's my only consolation, dealing with the frustration.

Big move... I know you spend lots of time down in Nashville; is that where you're moving to?

HomerMcvie

Big move... I know you spend lots of time down in Nashville; is that where you're moving to?

Yes, I'm in love with Nashville. It is MUSIC CITY!

But the biggest change for me, will be... that I put my house and all my rental properties, all on 10 year mortgages, 9 years and 9 months ago. Three months to go, and I'll be 100% debt free. With enough cash flow from the rentals, to even stop working, if I wanted to do that(which I don't plan on doing, at least for 5-10 years). I mean, I'd feel guilty retiring in my 40's...

But my plan for the first year, is to rent a place down there, and NOT sell my house, until I've at least put a year of going back and forth, into the decision. I plan on giving up the "cheap nights" that I work, and keeping the well paying ones, and also keep playing with my band. So, almost all of that is weekend work. So I think I'm going to commute to Nashville weekly. Spend Sunday- Wed/Thurs there, and drive back on the weekends, to make some jack! Then lather, rinse, repeat.

(pardon the babble...all this has just hit me in the past month or so, that I'm finishing a major chapter in my life, and that I'm going to be able to reap the rewards...it's surreal, tbh)

But I do plan on postponing the move, at least for the time being, as long as this relationship keeps improving. There was a rough spot last week, but we got through it.

I was a waiter for 17 years. The first 10 were fun. The last 7 were mostly dreaded. I haven't been in the restaurant business since 1999 and yet I still have nightmares about it every now and then. I was trying to speak more generally about people in service positions of all sorts, hairdressers, shop workers, etc. But I've noticed restaurant workers have all seemed to adopt the title "server" in recent years in preference to "waiter", although I'm not entirely sure why as they sort of imply the same thing to me. But I try and respect that.

I have worked as a barista, but the dynamics of that are totally different as customers come and go relatively quickly and I don't have to keep checking up on them. I actually like the food service industry, but it's unlikely I'd be cut out for full-on table service.

What changed from the first 10 years to the last 7, out of curiosity?
