^And may I add Elvis If I Can Dream has overtaken
Adele 25 to recapture the number 1 spot on Amazon's
music chart (UK).

Released October 30, 2015 and reaching number 1 on the U.K.'s
Billboard Top 200 chart having sold well over 800,000 in England alone.

Not bad, not bad at all. Looks like that trouble maker with side burns
has another hit. I bet Sony/BMG/RCA had no idea how this was going
to sell.

I just saw that Amanda Knox has been cleared from her charges of calumny.
Now I'm curious and I don't want to start a political debate in any way so please refrain from harsh comments but please tell me: is it true that everyone in the US believes her to be innocent in the Murder of Meredith Kercher as the majority of the media here told us?

I admire the way that Elton has rebuilt his life (congratulations to Vivfox too for your milestone) and actually think he's done some of his best work in his career since he got clean and sober.

I love 'The Last Song' by him but it always gets me crying each time I hear it.

His last album has been getting good reviews. It is apparently a bit nostalgic similar in style to his early albums, but with the added maturity and experience he's gained since then.

I know that he's helped a lot of younger artists when they were having difficulties dealing with pressures of fame or addictions. No doubt some of them probably think he's an ole busybody but it doesn't deter him lol. He knows what it's all about because he's been there and lived through it. I like how he keeps it real.

Usually I'm not particularly fond of contemporary italian acts, but I found that both Emma Marrone and Marco Mengoni recently gave proof to be rather valiant both in the voice and in the song-writing department. If someone wants to hear something different enjoy:

I'm in Australia with Madonna out here atm. It isn't really as bad the overseas reports seem to be saying. The reviews for her full show have been very good. I don't think she would ever be trashed onstage because it would be too risky with her choreography. But she does seem a bit messy and scrappy which is not like her, because she is usually so fully in control and precise.

She is undoubtedly very fit but it must take so much work for her, and it only gets harder with each decade. I hope that isn't affecting her family relationships.

I'm glad that Stevie and Chris aren't like this. I think Madonna is trying to figure out a new type of show she can perform in her 60s. With smaller venues, less intense choregraphy etc. She might be thinking of a vaudeville/cabaret type of show.

The bottle below was supposedly just filled with water, as was a flask she was also drinking from.

Well, Madonna finished her tour. She was very late at nearly all the concerts in Australia, no matter which night of the week it was. Only had a DJ for supporting act. Apparently the shows themselves were quite good but some parts strange. I don't actually think she was drunk or high because she has to do very complicated dancing routines. But her behavior was disappointing because last year Fleetwood Mac were on time, looked good, performed very well, and they had some lighter moments but it wasn't crazy-over-the-top.

Now I am hearing that AC/DC have a new lead singer - Axl Rose! I was thinking they would retire with Brian Johnson gone. But there are rumors that Brian Johnson could have continued and finished the tour, but he was just dropped.

I'm thinking it's kind of ruthless, with such an old band. But I guess that's showbiz sometimes. I guess most bands have their moments. Quite sure FM did too.

Axl was always quite temperamental and don't know about how he looks or sounds these days. I could hardly believe this was him recently. Ah well.

If Brian can't continue they should just retire.
Imagine buying FM tickets then months later finding out LB injures his hand and instead of calling off the shows (refund issued) they continue the tour with Sammy Hagar as his replacement.

It would be gutting to have a show without Lindsey. But sh!t, having Sammy Hagar would be pretty cool....IMHO!

BTW Axl sounds absolutely dreadful. He sounds even worse than he looks. He's completely lost it- he even moves around the stage like a genriatric. Such a pale immitation of G'n'R.

Phew I'm not the only one thinks that about Axl Rose. I love that song but that version just about destroys it for me. It's like the muppets.

Madonna could also probably join the muppets.

Not much into Axl but Mick could call back Rick and Billy to fill in for Lindsey.

like when Chris could not play because of her hand .They could have Brett do the keys and Chris can just sing her tunes.

BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma – Numerous news outlets are reporting that a portion of the next Star Wars movie will be filmed just outside of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The location in Oklahoma will represent a previously unknown planet in the Star Wars universe.

Writer and director Rian Johnson is said to have personally chosen the location and will need the help of a large number of extras from Broken Arrow and the surrounding area. Reports claim that a big reason in choosing to film in Oklahoma is that the state has recently been providing significant incentives to production companies that choose to film in their state.

No other details have been provided so far except that filming is set to begin sometime next year.

Should be interesting if it were to happen...Plenty of places to film here in B.A., especially out South towards the Arkansas River area and the area between B.A. and Bixby.

I'm reading media reports that Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne have decided to split, because he cheated on her with a much younger celebrity hairdresser.

http://www.eonline.com/news/763139/ozzy-osbourne-and-sharon-osbourne-split-after-more-than-33-years-of-marriage

He has actually cheated on her many times in the past, and she knew it, but she said she tolerated it because she viewed it as typical male rock star behavior, and he did not have an emotional connection with these partners.

I'm a bit concerned that Ozzy will now go into a full on self destructive mode.

Sad but they have had some big stresses in their lives lately. Kelly in rehab, Jack and Sharon getting sick, Ozzy's serious quad bike accident etc. I have wondered if Sharon has been building a career for herself on TV so that she can more easily walk out of the marriage.

Another guy who cheated on a long term partner with someone much younger. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard getting a divorce. It's already extremely nasty.

I have been concerned that Depp has been going downhill in recent years. He looks miserable, though I don't know if that is partly for his moody image.

Anyone like him should have known to get a prenup deal.

Ozzy and Sharon seemed to have remained on friendly terms at least. It surprised me that she decided she couldn't do it anymore now but it seems that hese time it wasn't just a fling, it was a full blown relationship. I still wonder why that woman pursued him though?

Johnny started his physical downward spiral right when it began his career downward spiral. His collaboration with Tim Burton (another long-term partner cheater) isn't enough to resurrect him, if he doesn't reinnvent himself he's doomed.

I was only on FB for a few months, not a pleasant experience. I can get how it could be very positive for some. There are people on there I miss seeing now. But so many troublemakers, and they were my cousins. (I have a very big family and they seem to thrive on drama.) My 16 year old just blocks them, whether they are family or not. Wish I had the gall to do the same.

My 16 year old I will freely admit, is much smarter than I am in a lot of areas!

I followed Sinead O'Connors FB rants for a couple of months. Talented lady but she was viciously attacking her older children, calling them the worst names. Then she attacked Arsenio Hall, and now he is suing her for $5 million. Her FB is currently down again. Though it often reappears. I think FB should have intervened and stopped it a long time ago.

I am having trouble working out what is going on with Johnny Depp. Yes their younger girlfriends were taking advantage, I would not doubt. It's still difficult for me to feel sorry for Ozzy and Depp though for such poor judgment.

And now Depp is getting a divorce, he's seen out drinking again with another young chick. SMH.

I am hoping he doesn't end up as pathetic as Marlon Brando did. There are comparisons between them, though Depp isn't really a 'Method' actor. It seems he prefers playing character parts. I have often wondered if maybe he is slightly autistic. He seems very shy and award at times, despite his bad boy reputation, and sometimes people like that who are not comfortable with themselves like to take on another character they can express themselves through.

I am thinking maybe he drinks to feel more comfortable in social situations or with crowds. That's how it often begins and may be okay for awhile. Until it gets out of control and you start messing up your life with poor judgment.

OMG can you believe I completely forgot to brag to all of you that on June 16, 2016 I celebrated exactly 14 years cigarette free? I have never forgotten one of my special anniversaries before. I chain smoked those damn things and I remember in the last few years of them waking up every morning and coughing to death. I also puked a lot in those years never knowing until I quit that my body was rejecting the nicotine. I had tried quitting several times before but could never make it past ten days. I called it "the ten day hurdle." But when my body told me it was time to quit I decided to smoke to the very last cig in that pack knowing full well that would be it. Cigs in those days cost $4.50 a pack but I saved money by purchasing them by the carton. I quit cold turkey and had cravings every day for eleven months. But I courageously fought the battle and triumphed.

Well done Viv! I also had my last cigarette nearly 14 years ago - 1st December 2002. I'd spent months travelling and decided that when I landed back in the UK I would never have another cigarette. I was a social smoker (rather than needing one every day) but just couldn't stop, it took me a couple of years of trying. My grandfather died of lung cancer in his 50's so I knew that I wouldn't be one of the lucky ones if I kept up this habit.

It was my daughter's sports day this morning, and for the first time I plucked up the courage to join in with the parents race.
This is not the kind of thing I usually do  I knew I'd be one of the last, but it felt good to give it a go :D

Thats nice to hear Viv. .Congrats on your kicking the bad habit.I never got into smoking .Thank god.I tried it and did not like it.I tried pot and did not inhale it.Oops Where did I hear that from.LOL...No I tried it and did not care for it.My father quit cold turkey and never looked back this time around 1982 as I remember when FM's Gypsy was on the radio. He was up to 2 1/2 to 3 packs around that time.
Very proud of your dad's accomplishment while he was alive.

Awesome. Me & you share the same quitting year. I was trying to figure out what smoking had to do with you being a social worker and then I read it again LOL.

Well done, you, and reminded me that I also gave up in 2002. But in the August
...Sounds silly now, but I got fed-up of spending part of my lunch hour queueing for cigarettes.
I went home that evening and said to my husband if he wanted another cigarette he would have to queue himself.....
So we gave up there and then.
I never really fancied another cigarette, ever.

Just love these sin taxes .Speaking of cigs.As of today. The ciggies tax went up 25 cents to make cigs $3.90 a pack here in Connecticut.. I would jack it up to a buck more a pack.It probably save more lives.

considering I had surgery just 24 hours ago, I am feeling okay. I do wonder how much better I would feel had I not an allergy to the local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic lidocaine? The surgeon just did the operation without any numbing agent, but she was a pro and I feel very good, though sore.

I've been pondering on this during the last week.....

In a few months our world leaders may be mostly female

It's true. Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom are both currently running for the Tory leadership, while Angela Eagle is expected to announce a leadership challenge for the Labour party. She resigned on Monday as shadow business secretary, telling Corbyn: “We need a leader who can unite the party.„

Meanwhile, in Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon is the current first minister following reelection of an SNP government in May and Ruth Davidson is leader of the Conservatives, while Northern Irish first minister Arlene Foster was elected in January of this year.

Looking further afield from the UK, Hillary Clinton will run against Donald Trump until November for the United States presidency, while Angela Merkel was reelected in September 2013 as chancellor, for a term which lasts until 2017.

In Europe, Denmark and Norway have women prime ministers, while Malta, Lithuania and Croatia have presidents who are women.

Things could be looking up.

Going for Pharmacy Technician...and will use that and possibly start towards RN/Nursing. My body cannot tolerate the rigors of manufacturing anymore.

Right now I am dealing with major pain from my surgery...my laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed without any numbing agent since I am allergic to the category of meds that are commonly used (When I had surgery to remove an infection from my right thumb in Dec.2015 it was performed without any numbing, just sterilize that area and start cutting - not a lot of fun).

I still do not remember talking to the blonde nurse that my wife Alisa and my sister Lesa said I spoke to in post-op...

As of today I have walked 3 miles every single day for the last 30 days. My walk always takes one hour at the least and often more as I stop to smell the roses along the way. The first day of walking I was unprepared. I went with a 16oz bottle of water and nearly died when I ran out 3/4 of the way through the walk. Luckily some construction workers pitied me and gave me a cold bottle to finish my trip with. The next day I made the water last but it got very warm along the way. By day three I was carrying a larger plastic bottle of water but it too warmed up on my trip. By the 3rd week I got a bit smarter and actually purchased a 40oz thermos and now my water stays cold the entire time and there is always plenty of it. For the first two and a half weeks my ankles were sore. I dropped 10 pounds in the first two weeks and then plateaued for the next two weeks. A few days ago I dropped another three lbs. but then the damn two pieces of garlic bread and the equally damned ramen noodles I ate over the weekend when I was too lazy to prepare something healthy added those three lbs. right back on. Losing weight is so damn frustrating. But I really do look forward to these walks. They have become the highlight of my day. I started out with my mp3 player and some four dollar headphones. Last Thursday I went to Best Buy and purchased some expensive headphones, though I decided I want an even better sounding one so I will exchange them this week. I have always been the king of "I can find a million things to do inside the house and never go out," and then the whole Summer goes by and I never actually went outside and enjoyed it. So these walks get me out there for at least one full hour a day and I am so glad I am doing that.

We have an American bull terrier, English Staffordshire terrier and 9 month old mixture of both breeds.. they would look scary to strangers, such a nightmare trying to walk all 3 at the same time.. the last attempt i tried without wearing their leads, 5 min into our walk they heard then spotted a large kangaroo chased it then they disappeared for 20 min or so, the Roos are too fast so they are never harmed thank goodness, i gave up in the end.. lol they take themselves for walks as we don't have fences around our property..

Yes I get paid reasonably well as I'm self employed, and I do other things too like gardening and housework. It's great being my own boss, and I like the people I work for which helps.

I'll be interested to hear how things progress with the exercise. I rarely run, and usually stick to walking, but I know how good aerobic exercise is for the body - maybe I'll get into running at some point in the future.

I updated freely my Windows 7 to Windows 10 and I've lost all my files. I'm desperate. The most important ones that concerned documents or university obviously had been printed or saved somewhere else, but some of it was too recent and I overlooked to save it because it should have been a completely safe procedure. Like the last pictures I had with my late cat.
The other part was less important but it turns out it really isn't so. All the material concerning my hobbies, new rare bootlegs, extra material I was interested in, things I saved just because I fancied them, pictures I loved, things I wrote, written thoughts etc. are all now in the toilet. I didn't think it would have been like this. **** you Microsoft.

There has got to be a way to get back what you can't find. Bring it to a computer repair shop. Also, I back up everything to many different sources. We can never count on any of these devices lasting forever, unfortunately. Very recently I accidentally deleted all my Bella Donna files off one of the backups and then laughed knowing I had the same pics on other backups.

August 19th was exactly 2 months for me of eating right and exercising. Most of the first month was all about walking. The 2nd month consisted of walking and some jogging. This week has been mostly about jogging, though I move in a slower way than normal because my legs still aren't ready for the full throttle of running. I always travel 3.3 miles. For those first two months my legs were sore just below my knees and then I said to myself that even the professional runners do stretches before and after their workouts so I should try that also. Well that totally did the trick of removing the knee soreness. Some days I feel a bit stiff but at least there is no more soreness. I lost my first ten pounds in the first two weeks and then it took another six weeks to lose five more pounds. Those five pounds became like our gas prices. They went up, they went down. Up, down, up, down. I'd come home after a long humidity filled walk drenched in sweat, eat all healthy foods and then gain weight the next day. It was very frustrating. But despite the weight loss I started to notice a big change in how I felt about myself day to day. I have more energy(but still need more LOL) and sleep much better and find myself laughing a lot. My skin is clearer. I have been very inspired by some FB friend's for their own personal daily workouts. This week more weight has shed away and now in just 9 weeks total I have lost a whopping 17 lbs.

Don't worry too much about the specific number of the scale, when you slim down doing exercise it can happen that it seems that you're not losing weight or you actually gain it because you simultaneously lose fat and build/gain muscle and muscle weighs more than fat (fat is very light). Probably the jogging is building a bit of your muscle.

Yeah, I almost had an heart attack. I took it to an engineer, if everything comes back my parents said will give me an external memory as a gift.

Do a backup before updating if you decide to go for it, you still have time.

Yeah, today I brought it to an informatic engineer, I hope he'll find them. Among the things I didn't have the time to back up were some rare bootlegs. He said the files might have been overwritten.

The engineer called and he still didn't find anything, he just found somthing in the dropbox files. I want to kill.

I am sooo sorry to hear this and so grateful I ignored the constant requests to change from 7 to 10.

Nice thought, but my father's wine is completely preservatives-free and I doubt it would survive the journey. And I don't like beer. But If you ever come on holiday in Italy I'd be glad to give you a treat.

Thanks. And you did well, Windows 10 isn't that much anyway, with the constant notifications and listing the files that you opened for last.
At last they used another software to find lost and canceled files and at least I found some pictures and documents. But all that remains of my beloved bootlegs are the icons. ****.

Sorry about all the quotes here .Just catching up.I went through alot of issues with hard drives over the years and spend $1000s and had a pro recovery company in Texas done the recovery on the drives and they recovered most of my data from the drives .Back up is mandatory and it should be done all the time.Shutdown all of those auto updates too.

Congrats Viv.I got to keep up the walking here and get off the junk food.

Yeah, the engineer I first went to actually couldn't do anything and it turned out he actually made it worse, so I went to a professional recovery company and they decided to help for a miracle since they only worked with companies.
Basically I'm the only case they'e seen in which the Windows 10 update went wrong an it damaged my hard drive. The first engineer didn't know a thing of what could have happened so he just came back to windows 7 and then used a recovery data software. Still nothing and I payed him 30 Euros
Since when I came home I noticed some software didn't open and the recovery data showwed nothing I went to this company under my bestfriend's mother advice. When her office lost all the documents they called this company and they recovered everything, so I tried.
The two software engineers welcomed me just because it was during the holiday and they didn't have much work to do. They looked at my PC and asked me what happened and were scandalized because the previous engineer actually worsened the problem and my harddisc was obviously damaged. When they looked though the files they found some temp files of my bootlegs and said they were bootlegs collectors too, one of them was a Fleetwood Mac fan too and said they would repair my PC and use a professional recovery machine to find all the files possible.
I'm now searching through the recovered files and I'm happy that at least I've found some documents and pictures.

Yes .Its a PITA when a operating system Windows/Mac drive goes bad .All of my computers except this Dell that I'm on now I installed a second drive for onboard file storage. All the recovered files from my internal storage drive came back to me with no bad corrupt files. As for the op system drive it was more harder to recover files since they are inside the Windows program.I got back most of my files from those op system drives and some files were corrupt. My pro recovery engineer said if you have something wrong as your computer wont boot or virus problem.Don't turn it on or let it write anything more on the drive. It will make the recovery harder to recover files in whole.I had 4 drives recovered over the years two op system and two internal backup drives.one op system drive had a mechanical clicking sound in my first Dell .The others were from the bad mother board problems. in the same Dell tower with suppose a new mother board that went bad too. Which today I'm still shocked the he recovered my files like family photos /videos ,Stevie'Mac stuff.personal documents and other stuff you dont want to loose in cyberspace. My engineer also tried to recover an SD card for me but no luck since they are difficult when the internal control integrated circuit fries up.Which an new Nikon Coolpix camera fried it which I returned it for an new one..If the SD card was screwed up with software only problem .My engineer probably have no problems on recovering the files from it.AS long you dont add"write anymore photos and other files on it.You will have better chances on getting all of your files intacted .I hope this will help all of you in the future.

You're completely right, and those are all the recommendation the last engineer told me, just I didn't know that also simple googling could be a problem.
Yeah, I should have made a backup but my PC is relatively new (2 years old on November) and since I had moved all my stuff from my old computer I began to save money for an external hard drive. I didn't want to do a back up with CDs because I needed more than 6 of them, so I was waiting until I'd save enough and then with my parents help for my birthday (the 30th of October) I would have finally obtained my external memory.
Unfortunately the Windows 10 Update started bugging me every damn time I opened or closed my PC. Since also everyone started bugging me that I was the only one not updating it for free, I decided to do it. The rest is history.

Mid-life crisis?

Hmm...

The political fighting gets old. I like to argue, but I don't
like it when someone gets their feelings hurt.

Love Letters...

I made the mistake yesterday of reading some of the old
love letters I found while cleaning out one of my closets
in preparation for vinyl storage.

It brought back memories and feelings I'd forgotten. Plus,
if you knew me you'd know how rare it was and is for me to be
photographed. So along with pictures of these past girlfriends
there was one or so of me (with them). Shirtless even!

I worked at a water park so it was common for some of us
to just wear shorts. And it was also before abs were created.

I'm not that old. Specifically the '83 and '84 Summer Seasons.

It was when shorts were still really short. Not Daisy Duke short,

So if I posted my picture of the fashion moment at the boat docks,

I hope it's nothing serious with all these surgeries...
However I feel you with all these boundaries with education. During high-school I payed extra to have some international certificate exams and classed for English and it turned out not only they aren't recognized internationally in many countries but even in many national universities. That's mainly the Universities fault, but it's scandalous. And secondly it's the Ministry of Education's fault, instead of valuing instruction they depreciate it and waste money.

I've just seen on the news a report about Italian Sounding. It was strange to hear about cappuccino during or at the end of the meal, pesto everywhere, marinara everywhere, pasta as a side dish and strange versions of carbonara and ragù alla bolognese that frankly are almost hygienically alarming (I mean the egg).
I imagine it's a mirror of the fake americanization happening here, in which everything that comes from America is cool and hip, even those things probably shunned by Americans themselves and that find a make-shift or second-best audience here.

Every time I finish up one of my 3.3 mile walks or jogs I feel like a million bucks. I always make sure to do several minutes of stretching exercises before and after each run. My waist size has decreased by almost 4 inches. My foot size has decreased by one inch. I can see the weight loss all over myself. My face, upper body, stomach, thighs, and I even noticed my foot looked smaller in the shower LOL. The weight feels kinda slow coming off but just this past week I dropped 5 lbs. I am very happy to report that in three months I have lost a total of 23 lbs.

I lost some weight like 15 lbs the hard way the last 3 weeks with depression due to the loss of my cat plus walking, working and keeping busy here..Yes .I agree. You feel like a brand new person after a good walk.I have to look for a tread mill for the winter and walk, run on it while watching Stevie videos on TV.

I miss my fathers sauce.Theres alot of fake Italian food here in the states .Sorry to hear its making its way to Italy. Even half blooded Italian here and I know right away if the food taste good or like crap.

Here it's been a while since the first Starbucks opened, but thankfully it's only in the biggest cities. It's a bit strange because people actually go to it because they saw it in the movies or TV series and they feel hip, but at the same time complain about the taste and quality. Maybe it's the effect of the novelty?

Yesterday I've been at the MAMBO, Modern Art Museum of BOlogna, and I've seen the "David Bowie is" exibition. It was a very good experience, it was multimedial and before entering they gave you headphones with a special device that, depending in which room and which part of the room you were it played a different registration; if you were standing before the big screens that in every room played parts of intervies and tv performances or music videos it played the synchronized audio of them, while if you got further it played a David Bowie playlist. There were a lot of personal objects and commentaries from people who knew him and worked with him, many of his past outfits and a lot of journal entries and photographs.
What I liked the most were the costumes. I was surprised but I thought him much taller than what he actually was.
What I liked the least was the excessive multimediality, since the exibition is very large if you want to look properly to it it requires at the very least 3 full hours, and having so many things to read, look at and listen to at once made me a bit dull after a while. In fact I tried to take off the headphones except for when I had to watch subtitled videos and interviews (they were all original sound with subtitles) but I found out that even in the museum there a different playlist playing. Also it wasn't organized very good, it proceded for themes and not in chronological order and there wasn't really an itinerary to follow.
However it's still an experience that I recommend and if someone has the opportunity to see it in the future he won't regret it.

Yes its in the blood .Dads sauce was great.I miss it and add that I also miss my mothers cooking too.I have to say that I never walked into a Starbucks since I'm not a fan of coffee anymore and never mind its over priced too.I cant even imagine what the prices over in Italy are in your Starbucks. Also I dont drink Dunkin Donuts coffee either but their donuts are OK. Years ago I used too drink coffee by the gallon at the office job which was like 20 plus years ago when I quit drinking it because it was bothering my stomach.

Actually I don't know how much it costs a cappuccino from Starbucks because I've only seen one when I was in Florence and I didn't want to enter since here you can have the real deal everywhere else and it costs 1 Euro and 20-50 cents, circa 1 dollar and 34-68 cents. unfortunately I can't drink it too much too because I tend have a bit of irritable bowel syndrome. I usually drink a bit of milk with honey in the mrning and then it's all tea and fruit infusion, sometimes I drink chocolate soy milk.
I've tried donuts once, they're ok but here we already have bomboloni: http://gracessweetlife.com/2011/08/bomboloni-alla-crema-krapfen-italian-cream-filled-donuts/

This is a music forum so I really don't understand why we should insist to use this place to hold political discussions, there are limitless other places that are much more advisable where you can specifically do that.
Like everything here there are rules to follow to make sure that this place remains equally enjoyable for everyone, and they apply to anyone.
The ledge is a forum about Fleetwood Mac and "this place can be what it wants to be organically" in the sense that you can talk say what you want about the topic, even making rude comments about band members, as long as you follow the rules. But this is not a public place, it's a private space made to talk about the band and its members so it's not obbligatory for it to have space for political comments.

louielouie2000, October 26th 2016

First of all, my comment was regarding the Fleetwood Mac section of the board. The Ledge has never forced its members to have blind allegiances to the band or its specific members as a condition of membership. Other websites over the years have banned or refused new membership of posters because they were critical of Stevie or whomever. We don't do that here.

It is important to know that the chit chat section is a privilege, though. Michele pays to own and spends her precious free time maintaining a Fleetwood Mac website; discussion of topics not related to Fleetwood Mac is not an inalienable right. We keep chit chat going because it's a nice place for members to bond over shared interests, and humanize one another. However, the political bickering had become counterintuitive to all of that. This is why politics were put on hold around here. The Ledge is worth more than one American election.

I stand by my comment.

If one can't even express views at all, then what's

My comment was tongue in cheek, just as your not so subtle boundary testing often is. But no, when anyone is suspended or banned, we do not disclose any of the surrounding information for public consumption. The Ledge is owned and run by a private individual; there is no bill of rights here.

So if it is specifically a music forum what is the point in having a chit chat section at all then? If people do not 'enjoy' engaging in debate they need not frequent such pages.
If you remember well the problem was that the animosity had spread from the specific threads to the other forums, and there were many remarks among the threads in those band's forum that had nothing to do with music but stemmed from the political antipaties instead. This made people who wanted to avoid political discussion impossible to read serenely and many decided to abandon the forum altogether.

My recollection is that you used to contribute to such discussion as much as anyone.
I don't understand what you are trying to say. This is not about me, it's about respect of the rules.
Yes, before the ban I used to contribute to the discussions, trying to always be respectful of the norms, and after the ban I stopped as (almost) everyone else did, and if the ban will be revoked chances are I'll contribute again.
I don't make rules.

Not so long ago it was touted that 'the ban was never intended to be permanent and could be lifted if people behaved themselves'. Okay, so what is it to be? Adult discussion was spolied by 14 year old Ledgies.
Again I don't fully understand what you are advocating. It has been said that the ban wasn't necessarily permanent because it's true. From what I know and remember it's not the first time that a hot topic has been temporarily prohibited to blow some steam off, and you should have been a member for longer than me. Why this time is this prohibition impossible to respect?

To be clear, I really couldn't give a stuff whether people are allowed to discuss politics (or any other touchy subject) or not. However, I do find it all a bit too 'big brother' and the inflammatory language about suspending people really is beyond ridiculous.
I don't care about whether I can or cannot discuss politics here too. I'm not here for that.
I'm a member of other forums and there if someone makes Outside Themed posts they get outright canceled and if someone attempts to make provocative posts they get outright banned. I think they're a bit strict but their house, their rules.

Well, no, I personally don't recall that happening. I remember people (myself included) being annoyed with welcomechris elsewhere (about other things) but I didn't personally see anything political spreading into other forums. If it did happen (as I'm sure it did) then I don't think I witnessed it personally. However, if that did happen then the logical thing would have been to warn and then sanction individual offenders. Indeed, I'm aware welcomechris is no longer here- I don't know if thats connected.

I am trying to say you were a fervent and valued participant in discussion. I'm sure you won't outright say so but I suspect you yourself would consider banning discussion of certain topics to be rather silly. I appreciate there are rules but some rules seem to be arbitarily made up.

Sorry, I don't recall any other occasions in which topics have been 'temporarily prohibited'. What happened on other occasions? I'd say this ban has clearly been respected; nobody has posted any overtly polictical comments. The only comments that have been made about the subject involve digs about the decision that was taken, not the topic itself. I think it was suggested the ban may only be temporary as a means for backtracking on what was a bit of an ill-judged decision.
So, it was suggested the ban be temporary as a means for cooling-off. When exactly is the ban likely to be lifted? Or are we to be on hold indefinitely? Until after the US election? And what then, another ban in the run up to the next one?

I don't care about whether I can or cannot discuss politics here too. I'm not here for that.
I'm a member of other forums and there if someone makes Outside Themed posts they get outright canceled and if someone attempts to make provocative posts they get outright banned. I think they're a bit strict but their house, their rules.

It's not just about politics, it's about heated topics in general. I still just cannot for the life of me see why people can't come to this place they know and love and engage in intelligent discussion about whatever burning issues they wish to discuss. Provided threads are clearly labelled then people do not have to read things and comment if they choose not to. The crazy thing is, any one of us can go onto any of the other forums and say pretty much anything we want so long as it isn't deemed directly offensive towards any other Ledge member. In fact, I could probably go on 'Rumours' right now and post a thread entitled 'Stevie Nicks thinks Donald Trump is a fat ignorant buffoon because...' and it would probably be okay so long as I'm discussing the views of a member of Fleetwood Mac. The actual topics themselves don't really bother me- its just the way its done and the way people are treated. 'Tongue in cheek' threats of banning valued members just for making light hearted digs is silly. I enjoy checking in on the Ledge but I dont like tiptoing around worrying about what posts I'm making or whether threads may be deemed too offensive. Bloody hell, this is the internet. There is far worse out there to worry about.

Whatever happens, please treat us contributors as grown-ups and please, please avoid the patronising tone.

Like you and FuzzyPlum I don't remember seeing anything real

more volatile (non-political) any day of the week than the Chit Chat

Being warned personally is strange. As it's usually more of a "you guys

posts when not being serious are meant to be taken as simple tall tales
that I hope bring a smile once in a while to some members. Also I use

I wouldn't go as far as some to suggest that it's a privilege to post here

Yes that would have been ideal, a warning to the group as a whole to calm things down, so everyone had a chance to think about posting responsibly, to prevent the political discussion getting out of hand. It seems that the current political climate is bringing up very extreme emotions. I think it was just a bit of a shock to everyone here to suddenly find a ban, with no warning.

I think there's some confusion among the members about how The Ledge works.
Like Louie has said this forum is owned by Michele and she pays and puts effort to keep running it for free, which in my opinion makes her a saint because I wouldn't do it even if I was payed for it. So, like all forums, this is a private space like it would be at all intents and purposes Michele's house or whatever other property. We moderators help her keeping it in order, for example removing fake profiles, spam posts or outrageously insulting posts. Sometimes if someone has collected more of the above infractions or has committed a particularly big one they may get suspended or banned; these decisions are discussed together.

To me it's obvious that the measures regard the single person alone, so they're not publicized for all the ledgies to see, this is not a courthouse and there's no need to hold people up for ridicule or otherwise involve other members that aren't aware of all the infractions the person in question may have committed.

Sometimes circumstances may arise in which "extraordinary measures" have to be applied. In fact, for example, in my early days as a ledgie I clearly remember discussions about Stevie's abortions rapidly escalated and that lead to a temporary block for, I think, two weeks. I also remember one of the oldest members saying that it wasn't the first time, and in fact a similar scenario repeated himself, even if without blocking, at least another time in my permanence here.

Now the problem is that while "overtly" political comments have been avoided, since I became a moderator I noticed many people have repeatedly poked the subject in not even a very subtle way (and I'm not talking about the criticism of the last days) which honestly feels like being jerked around. Adult behaviour and criticism aren't anything close to it.

The ban has never thought to be permanent, noone is backtracking, it's just me wrongly deciding that explaining its impermanence would have been a good decision, I thought people would have been relieved and it would have lifted the mood a bit. It seems I was wrong in believing that people would have handled the information maturely instead of jumping to conclusions on their own.
The initial idea was to restore the topic at some yet uncertain date after the elections; I was vague about it because the date is still to decide and also I don't make promises to anyone since it's a decision that doesn't rely on me alone and also if the infractions would continue it could be necessary to change plans. Next time, if you want to know I suggest that you simply ask, so we both can act and be treated like adults.

As it's been pointed out, the majority of other forums don't tolerate hot topic discussions. No one has talked of privileges but it is a bonus having a chit-chat section. Now that I'm more internet savy I was expecting the ban happening, and it doesn't have anything to do with my personal tolerance of political discussions, for example from what I understood Louie is even more tolerant than me on the topic. The ban itself in this perspective is indeed a warning.

I'd like to point out that while it may be true that there was a particularly problematic member, it would be wrong to shift all of the blame for what has happened onto him. It takes more than a single person to make a fight, maybe one is a troublemaker but he needs others that lead him on to make trouble.

Now sorry but I have to start getting fabulous for Halloween.

I agree with Louie and Sister on having Chit Chat as a bonus forum. Some of those forums I mentioned dont even have a chit chat section.I remember reading posts on those forums in the topics which is technically off topic. They were saying ."How come this forum dont have a chit chat or open topic section". The mods replied saying."We dont have them because the trouble of users abusing it". As of posting BS and stir up things. As other FM forums are gone or die off .We are lucky what we got here and have a forum that very informative and up to date with the members of FM and their solo work.I have to admit that I acted like a ahole during the time with those hot topics last summer and I had to back off and take a break from it all.Again I apologize for what was said at the time.

Yes, it seems that Louie used that word incorrectly, however I see from the context of the whole sentence that he was still just referring to the chit-chat section, not the whole forum like it seemed in your post. What I, and surely also he, wanted to say is that chit-chat is an extra.

I want to say I an happy this is a political free space right now

I have lost a few friends (since childhood ) who I never suspected harbored so much hate .

and the constant memes and such polluting my facebok news feed is nauseating from all 4 sides .

and the glut of congratulations from people who did not know there was a Baseball team called the Cubs until last night / this morning ( a welcomed break from politics )

anyway I am glad it is not infected here

When I started my new eating and exercise lifestyle, I decided I needed a cheat weekend where I could indulge in my old foods as a reward. I decided one weekend every 60 days would be the time. So after the first two months I had one meal at McDonald's(Filet o Fish, Lg. Fries), [Sm. Fries to eat in the car on the way home LOL], one meal at my favorite Chinese food restaurant, As many slices as I could handle of pepperoni pizza, one meal at Denny's(Chicken Melt sandwich with French Fries) and one Sundae from Friendly's( a fantastic ice cream parlour only available in the North East) Ice Cream and one Snicker's candy bar. These are all my comfort foods. These foods must all be consumed between Thursday through Sunday. I had most of them and they were enjoyable. About a week back into my regimen I realized I had forgotten to eat the ice cream and the candy bar but they were going to have to wait until the next 60 day cheat weekend. After all that eating my body gained back NINE pounds in 4 days and it took me a little under 2 weeks to jog that off. After the next 60 day cycle which became 4 months since my new lifestyle began, I indulged in my enjoyable cheat weekend. This time I included a friend and family in these cheat foods. At this same time my left leg, just below the knee and downward was killing me from all the jogging, even though I had done stretches before and after each run. It got to the point that it hurt so bad that I started to feel crippled so I decided to take some time off from jogging. On cheat weekend # 2 my body gained back 7 lbs. and so I decided to skip the ice cream sundae because it just wasn't worth it. I continued to eat right and continued to lift weights but I ended up not walking or jogging for 11 days. My knee is only sore in one finger tipped sized spot so I decided it was time to resume walking. Last night after work I was exhausted and all I felt like doing was relaxing in my computer chair and playing on FB but instead I went out and walked my 3.3 miles. When I got back home I lifted weights for 15 min. and then got down on my back on my mat and for the first time since 1974(I kid u not) I did sit ups. I did 5 of them and then forced myself to do 2 more. Then I felt so good about myself and also felt some renewed energy for the rest of the evening. Just by eating right it only took my body 5 days to shed the cheat weekend # 2 foods but by not walking or jogging for those 11 days I did not go down in weight. I remained the same. Now I am going to post this for all of you to read and then out the door on my walk I'll go.

That's amazing Viv.
Yeah, jogging can be a pain for joints, since I have back problems I avoid it and walk instead.
However usually people that are on a diet can have a cheat day every week, maybe it's better instead of three full days even if they are every once in a while? Surely it's more rewarding and constant.
For example my mother uses Saturday's dinner and Sunday's luch for cheat day.

I normally ignore baseball and almost all sports, but as I have been wearing a Cubs ball cap for the last decade plus since a then boyfriend bought it for me (in non-official pink though), this year I took an interest. Plus having a Canadian team involved in the other league for awhile helped. It was fun watching them play in Texas. So now I can wear the Cubs hat even more proudly! In terms of entertainment I enjoyed the games I watched, definitely a personal record for me. The only other things I pay attention to are ice hockey and soccer/football (not to be confused with the U.S. and Canadian so-called 'football'). Yeah, they're probably all multi-millionaires and some might even be jerks but yay Cubs after 108 years! :)

I was out at a fair tonight and noticed the moon and this song came to mind, it reminds me of my teenage years and a friend who used to play the guitar and sing this. I didn't realise it was from 1985 - 31 years old! I'd never seen the video but I love it, very simple and very 80's.

I seriously injured my left knee from jogging and was unable to do that or walk for almost two months, though I resumed walking Friday. My body is filled with serenity.Though I did not walk I still lifted weights and while I have not lost any weight this last month, I have not gained either. Eating healthy is the key. Now the holiday season is up on us.Now we have to watch in what we eat and walk it off.Yes eating is the key issue.I back off on the cola favored sodas to one to two cans a week.I got to watch the salt content. My BP will go off the scale if I take in salt.No chips and other junk food for about two months which is killing me.I was happy with my last Nep "Kidney" doctors visit as I mentioned earlier here. Now lets see what the results will be from my yearly physical in December.

It's great to hear your updates. I'm pleased you are having so much success with diet and exercise. I've also had problems in the past with jogging and my knees. I enjoy the aerobic exercise of running, but I can end up with painful knees. At the moment I walk during the week, and on a Saturday I do a combination of fast walking and jogging for an hour and my knees seem to be ok with that.

That's great you are managing to keep off the junk food. Good luck for your medical.

Thank you...

I just found out that country singer Holly Dunn passed away last month at 59.I always love her tunes and also a true country artist.I remember seen her in concert back in the early 1990's.

Prayers and condolences go out to her family and friends.

I used to be a big fan of the series Will & Grace but for some reason I missed some episodes of the last season and never saw the finale; now I've accidentally stumbled upon a "spoiler" looking at a list of Top 10s finales of 90s shows and I'm a little meh. I understand not wanting a goodie goodie end but it wasn't even so realistic (nothing about the series was, have you seen how big their apartment is?).

I saw an article the other day where Megan Mullally has confirmed the show is coming back for 10 episodes. Hard to believe it's been off the air for a decade now!

I somehow missed it. I'm happy but also worried about it, lately there have been a lot of returns of old shows because of Netflix et similia but not always they've been successful or even satisfying for that matter. I know for example Gilmore Girls has been appreciated and I'll see it but I've already been told the plot and I really don't like it. Smells like money thirst.

Thats strange that I never seen an episode of Gilmore Girls or Will & Grace when it aired.Probably the reason that I lost interest in TV shows by then.I did enjoy seeing the colorized Dick Van Dyke show last Sunday night on CBS.

While scanning the Drudge Report I came
across this headline,

Lonely men more likely to have sex with bots...

Shocking isn't it? Who would have guessed?

So I had this strange dream the other night. The power grid in the western hemisphere shuts off. There are pockets of power in a few places. People are in a panic and even without proof, a lot of people blame Russia. After a week of this ****, the police drive around at night yelling through their bull horns for all of us to resume our daily lives the best we can. They tell us to go to work and to go to school. No one can pump gas so when your tank runs out, that's it for your car. The grocery store shelves are cleared almost instantly. We have water still and those of us with gas stoves can still cook. Cell phones aren't working either and with no computer access most of us are bored ****less and people are highly stressed out. It happens in the winter and it happens this year before the spring. I know this because it shows me two houses that are currently rented by college seniors. The ground has a little bit of snow and it is very icy at night. I am cold and afraid of slipping. The dream tells me this will last for 37 days and when the power comes back on the world will rejoice. In all languages people will write about this catastrophic event. Songs will be written with 37 as their title. And we will all find out that this was not a man made occurrence.

Sounds like you dreamed about a Coronal Mass Ejection (http://www.ecology.com/2014/05/01/earths-greatest-threat-cmes/) hitting the earth. My Dad enlightened me to CME's over Thanksgiving, and I haven't viewed life the same ever since.

Your article stated that a CME would be so catastrophic that we wouldn't be able to restore power on earth for several years. That type of scenario is wayy worse than my 37 days the dream showed me.

Sounds a little like a couple of movies I've watched lately.
10 Cloverfield Lane and Into The Forest.

Wow .It sounds like a movie script .To bad the dream could not get recorded like in the 1983 movie .Brainstorm with Natalie Wood.I love having dreams on the edge like that .Its better entertainment then whats on TV.

I can picture people just going nuts without their cellphones.Yippy. Not me.Time to use the CB radio with solar cells.

Today is a very special day for me. On this day, January 6,2009, I decided it was time to stop my crazy way of smoking marijuana 24/7. I smoked pot daily for 30 years.I never had a problem with alcohol but decided to never again have another drink as well. On this day, January 6, 2017, I am drug and alcohol free for 8 years. I remember not even being able to make it through one hour without getting stoned.

Sherlock: new series. Looking forward to episode 2 in the UK tonight. Love the show, can't bloody understand it properly though. I think the writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss must smoke some of those funny cigarettes.

Today marks 7 months since I began my proper diet and exercise routines. I am definitely suffering the winter doldrums. I haven't lifted my weights or exercised in several months other than when I am in physical therapy of which I do once a week. They are teaching me more pain in the ass exercises to keep my knees in shape so that I will eventually be able to jog again without feeling like I am crippled afterwards. The good news is that I have not gained any weight back and that is because I am very strict about what I eat. I cook all my own meals and eat out only one night a week. I just need to find my motivation to exercise again. I felt so gosh darn great when I was doing that.
