so annoyed that I can't get a regular timeslot with my therapist, so from week-to-week I never know when he has an opening and I rely on cancellations. Tonight he could see me at 7:45 pm, who wants to do cognitive therapy at 7:45 pm after working all day?
what, he can't even give you an appointment time for the following week at the end of your session? f that.

JTIS that I just beat Resident Evil 5.
In RE5, like previous RE games, Albert Wesker is the Big Bad. He amuses me because he appears to be a combination of Neo and 1986 David Bowie from the movie Labyrinth.
He's got the moves, the trench coat, the shades, the hair-do, and the odd manner of speech.
<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MztXNdpLjg0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MztXNdpLjg0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
At one point in the last chapter, I burst out laughing, because Wesker literally throws his sunglasses at you (you are Captain Beefy there) all slo-mo, and you pause to catch them and stare at them like an idiot for a second before he knocks you down, catches the glasses mid-air, and puts them back on. Cheesy badassery for the win!

Part of my science fair project is obtaining hair from people...which is hard to do. I asked my friends if they would let me cut a some of their hair (i became a pro at making the cut sooo unnoticeable pretty quick so the girls wouldn't start crying) and a few strangers and i actually got all the hair i needed. Do you know how hard it is to actually get a black person to cut some of their hair for some project?..its hard lol so i cut my own hair (when i say that i cut their hair its not like an actual haircut just like a lock of hair from my subjects).. My project is supposed to determine which ethnic group has the strongest hair (it didn't start out that way tho..it started as which shampoo works better but it magically evolved when i decided to interview people about what hair products they used) and i never thought that chris rock would come in handy. So far the asians (Southeastern) have it hands down:eek:
JTIS:
this is pretty pathetic but whatever here goes...
As i was working on my science fair project, skipping my elective class to do so, suddenly, in the middle of ripping someone's hair apart with a spring and a pin, i realized that i had planted some watermelon on my farm (farmville..lame i know) and i hadn't visited my farm in almost a week which meant that my plants might have withered (they didn't).. that got many laughs from the people who enjoyed my random comment in the middle of my experiment.

Sweet! I borrowed RE5 from one of my son's friends last week and had it done in a couple of days - it was a lot easier for me than RE4 was, for some reason. Currently pulling my hair out, trying to get at least S ranks on The Mercenaries, which I find more fun than the actual story-mode, haha.
First person shooters sometimes give me motion sickness, but I fortunately do not have that problem with over-the-shoulder games like RE.
For your husband - not sure how old your step-sons are, so will leave that to your discretion, as there is some profanity, but I've yet to find an RE fan that didn't find this rant hilarious:

Yes, announced and in production. It will be directed by Paul W.S. Anderson who directed the first one. Since the first film, he's become an even stronger filmmaker (first AVP and then the jaw-dropping Death Race). So I'm super excited he's coming back to the franchise. Plus he married the lead actress last year :)

My son's 32 gig I-POD was stolen at school the other day. He just got it for Christmas. Evidently he had it in his pants pocket while dressed out for PE and he along with everyone else had their clothes laying around the locker room and someone went in there and went through everyone's pockets. (They don't have lockers since Katrina took that part of the locker room). The other kids had cell phones and money stolen. My son is devastated; he had "thousands of songs on there". The school says there is nothing they can do. I had no idea he was bringing it to school. Any ideas on what I can do if anything? :distress:

Well, I have had things in the locker room stolen!
Ok, first make sure your kid isn't distressed. Secondly, partly the school can't do anything because it was one of their students. Now, what the school can do is find the perpetrator.

And now for today's "Thought of the Day" -
There's two types of people: Those who are doing laundry tonight and have nothing to do; and those who are doing laundry tonight and have nothing to do but also have some guy or girl thinking they're really busy and on-the-move tonight because they just MUST be because they're oh-so-hot and therefore dateworthy... Both are wondering why they don't have a date tonight and why everybody hates them and nobody loves them. ;)
Just thought I'd share some wisdom acquired through the yea- .....yeah okay I probably read it in a book somewhere. http://www.sevenwondersonline.net/Smileys/classic/blush2.gif

I just deep cleaned my music room. It took approx. 7 hours. I took a few breaks to log onto The Ledge, eat dinner and make a few phone calls. I burned 24 CD's this week with 16 songs on each of them and I have been listening to them as I cleaned.
I washed the walls and the baseboards and cleaned every piece of furniture and knick knack in that room. It now has a fabulous aroma and it sparkles.:blob1:

This phrase from Michael Ondaatje's The English Patient really stuck with me when I read the book in September. It's not even from a noteworthy part of the book.... I just adored the phrase.
This tattoo is in my own handwriting-- I literally wrote it down one time on a piece of paper in the studio and that became the stencil. I think that's important to the general sentiment of the tattoo. It's a dedication to two things: my writing and my past. I want to continue to be a "body full of sentences" in both the stories I can tell about my own life and the stories I create through my poetry/creative writing.

According to cnn.com, a 28-year-old man named Evan Muncie was pulled out from the rubble in Haiti. Alive. Today. It's been a month. Yeah. Yike.
He says that "someone was giving me water" but it doesn't quite make sense. But he's quite understandably very confused and incoherent right now. (In an altered neurological state, I mean.) They're hoping to get more information from him when he gets his senses back.
Anyway, it really does seem like a genuine Miracle!

Maybe! Of course, directly after that, we went to another store to pick up some other stuff, and the creeper behind me in line was apparently the reincarnation of Darrell on MadTV. 'member him?

Totally Darrell, down to the repeated sentences, the "dayum"s, the teeth sucking, asking my name (alas, did not include the "delicate" part), and the asking about a boyfriend, except he then went on to ask if I was married, and then this happened:
Him: "You engaged?"
But since he slurred his words really badly, I totally thought he said, "You gay?" because he dropped the "nged" off the end of "engaged."
So I said, "Am I gay?!?! You just walk around asking people that? What's the matter with you?"
And then he said, "NO, I SAID ENGAGED" as everyone around us cracked up, and he was all offended, but pfft. Fortunately, I was done paying by then and just started walking away - but not before he shouts, "Can I have yo' number? Can I? Can I have it?" a few more times for good measure.

The Dance:
"...and it's called, "My Little Demon"..." and then Gold Dust Woman starts playing!!! :p
or
"...this is a new song..." and then "listen to the wind blow..." :]
it just cracks me up!

^ Something similar happens to me. I listen to The Dance, but have the ones that were left off the CD on there too, like GDW. Also I have songs that were not even done (or released for the DVD or album at least) for The Dance, like Stand Back or Not That Funny. I just place the songs where they would of been in the setlist. Something similar happens for each tour.
With itunes you can set any start and stop times you want for each song, so you can cut out introductions.

So I watch a movie tonight. I get in my big comfortable chair and sitting by
me on the glass table is a glass of my favorite drink Cran-Grape (note if you
ever have multiple attacks of kidney stones, you will change your drinking
habits). So on with the show......movie starts, there's sound but no dialogue.
I check my DVD's setup to make sure I'm playing the 5.1 option, yep I'm okay
there. Because I'm so clever I figure out that the first part is meant to be silent
(just for the dialogue, there were other sounds from the movie coming through
my speakers). I even talk myself into believing that the actors are overacting
to play along with the intended silence. At close to ten minutes into the film,
the clever use of this schtick is getting annoying. And then I realize, earlier in
the evening I had listened to CD's. I'd changed the receiver's setting from DVD-
Multi to straight DVD (two-channel). I switched to DVD-Multi and the schtick was
over.
Morals of this story........Don't think you're so clever, and you can talk yourself
into anything.
For those who wonder, yes I went back and watched the first ten minutes of the
movie.

1. I'm a huge Stevie kick right now. I usually never listen to her anymore, but for the past day, it's just been album after album. These songs are so transportive.
2. After being sick for two weeks, I have to head to the hospital today to see a specialist. I'm freaking out because the same thing happened last spring, and I ended up buried in medical bills after a three day stay. :(

False. The town of Wellesley isn't situated on any T line. I could take the Wellesley exchange bus into Kenmore and then ride the green line from there, but because of the infrequent bus times, that would amount to a three hour round trip.

Glen Coco? Four for your Glen Coco! You go Glen Coco!!
I was pretty good at fractions =) What can I say I love math lol
AndnoneforGretchenWeiners.
Yeah, I fail at the mathing. I had to take Algebra 2 twice in high school. Not because I actually failed the class, but because I only scraped past not failing by the skin of my teeth and the next class after that was going to be statistics. I knew I'd never survive, lol.
Alas, my second go-round with Algebra 2 did not go much better, but at least I tried, even if stupid algebra ruined my GPA. I did really well in classes like physics, because for some reason, all the math there did not screw me up - maybe because it made more sense, like I could see what it was supposed to be doing, like - the object flies this way, at this angle, and this is why, whereas just graphing a line for the sake of graphing a line is stupid? I have no idea.
I was pretty upset with myself, though, because I absolutely flippin' hated school - I looked at maintaining a high GPA as a direct "eff you" to the whole idea of it. Like, "I hate you, I will pwn you."

Fair enough, madam. Fair. Enough.
Also, see, I went with oboe because it's a funny-sounding word and I didn't want to deingrate the noble French horn by making it participate in my shenanigans.
But the NyQuil thing is a great example of why no one should ever give me their cell phone numbers or let me text them. One day, it's oboes, and the next thing you know, I'm texting you at 4 AM, in a froth over how I can genetically engineer David Bowie's huge pants in Serious Moonlight with David Byrne's big suit in Stop Making Sense in order to make stylish yet cost effective clothing for the morbidly obese.

A character in "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," Ford Prefect, "decided to go insane for awhile." Then, 2000 years after one man got nailed to a tree for saying how NICE it would be for everybody to be NICE to everybody JUST for a change, and three minutes after another man got his house demolished by a bulldozer and then his planet demolished by a Vogon warship to make way for a hyperspace bypass, he drank a pan-galactic gargleblaster. But THAT was okay because he had his towel with him...
P.S. - Trust me, this makes plenty of sense. Especially if you've seen the tv show or read the book, or if you've decided to go insane for awhile. But the pan-galactic gargleblasters help. :blob2:

Got my first speeding ticket yesterday. Awesome.
It was a female cop too -- no way I was getting out of it.
I was literally less than five miles away from my destination. I was going 61 in a 50. However, it had been 60 until ONE mile back (she even admitted this) when it changed to 50. Ugh. Oh yeah, and it was in a safety corridor so fines were doubled. (Luckily she had thd decency not to double mine.)

I've been pulled over twice. Both times I had female cops. Both times they were hardasses and both times I got out of it :D I don't know how, but I did. Win.
It's not impossible, have faith! :)

This weekend has been really happy for me even though this year has been kicking my ass. Yesterday i spent most of the day at the mall with my two best friends and i finally saw Alice which i loved. Today im happy because i found out the one of my favorite singers is coming out with her debut cd. Her name is Alexz Johnson and i've been following her since she played Annie on So Weird with Mackenzie Phillips (I love them both almost equally). The CD is coming out March 30 so im gonna try to get it on my Birthday which is April 1st =]

We host Chinese foreign exchange students (been doing it for three years now). Our first kid, Zheng, is made entirely of concentrated awesome, and just descended on the house last night for a completely surprise visit. There was lots of squealing. So yay for surprise visits from people you haven't seen in a long time!

I had the most amazing night last night. Southern boys have my approval.

And by last night, you mean this morning when you stumbled in at 5:30 and I was busy basking in the afterglow of the fact that someone had just missed a plane for me.

Well, technically, it's my foster parents that do it. When they stopped doing foster care, they decided to do something different, and tried foreign exchange.
We had no idea what we were getting into when Zheng showed up, lol. He just ended up being so damn awesome, it was an insane experience. He had only three words of English - "okay," "black" and "blue" (the colors of his suitcases) - when we picked him up, but after about 3 days, he was speaking in complete sentences. Scary smart, even if he accidentally picked up some of the Pittsburghese (please picture a boy with a VERY heavy Chinese accent informing you he accidentally walked into a jaggerbush on the way home from school, and do we have any band-aids?). He's got the most bizarre sense of humor, and I love him to bits.
So yeah, Zheng was so damn awesome, we were like, let's do that again, so we've had two more Chinese dudes since then. The other two, Xiao Jin (our second) and ZeZheng (here currently), are also really great. All three have been SO excellent with my kids, and ZeZheng is just chock full of the Helpful Advice for Living, by which he means, "That's not how we do it in China so ur doin it wrong," like, "You shouldn't drink cold things, it will make you sick." or "You shouldn't have sex too much, it will make you sick."
So it's been really fun and interesting.
When Zheng came to stay with us, we also briefly had a kid from Venezuela, Andres, at the same time, but he didn't stay long. He came from a very rich home, with maids and his own driver and junk like that. We don't have maids. Or...uh...any money.
He was very uncomfortable and wanted to move out, so he wasn't with us long. My foster parents were really offended, but I told them, "He just comes from a very different place, I don't blame him for being weirded out," and they eventually got over it.
The moment I saw him, though, I said to Linda (my foster mom), "You watch, that boy is going to have the entire female population of the school pregnant by the end of the year. And half the male population, too." He had that totally suave Latin thing going on, very good-looking and charming, very well-dressed. He couldn't even manage to turn the charm off with me, and I'm, like, ancient. Or should be considered ancient to a 17 year old kid, anyway.
I've heard some horror stories from other host families, but we've been really lucky, because all of the boys have been so great so far.

And I'm going to post an 80s music video that's a bigger trainwreck than me. And possibly a greater tranwreck than Jan Terri but in a much more loveable way.

I need home remedies for a dry cough before I hack a lung up. :(
(I have been taking Mucinex for about a week now and some over the counter cough syrup. Nothing is working.)

You might need some cough syrup with codeine before you break a rib.
In the meantime, boil a big wide pot of water or tea, & put your face over it, breathing in the steam with each inhalation.

Wow, this is absolutely incredible. Does someone in your family speak Chinese? I'm assuming they do, but if not, how does the communication process work and develop? Have you been able to pick up any Chinese from the students? Ahh, I wish I had the heart to open up my home like that, but I'm too afraid that once the novelty wore off, I wouldn't be as willing to deal with all the work of hosting someone from such a different culture. Moment of honesty on a Monday morning.
For a slightly related JTIS-- I get back to that wonderful land of Pittsburghese in two days. Rumor is it's going to be in the high fifties, and I'm tracking down some ice cream and ordering it with jimmies just because I can. Cancun has nothing on the excitement of SpringBreakSteelCity.

Actually, no, none of us can speak any form of Chinese. I can do a few words here and there that I've picked up from the boys, but on the whole, they are here to work on their English, so they prefer to speak English. Which is good, because I cannot make some of the sounds necessary to speak Chinese properly for the life of me.
Zheng, the first boy, had only those few words but picked it up really fast once he got here, with the help of a little translator machine. After three years, he can swear like a sailor with the best of us, though his accent is still very heavy and other people have trouble understanding him sometimes. Our second kid, Xiao Jin, had more English - enough to get across what he wanted or needed, etc, but he wasn't very talkative in general, so he didn't want to work on actual conversation much.
Our current kid, ZeZheng, is pretty much fluent in English, and was that way when he got here. He's also got a heavy accent, but it's not as heavy as Zheng's is. ZeZheng & Zheng are from the same area of China, so they speak to each other in their language quite a lot, but Xiao Jin was from another area of China, where the language is different, so he & Zheng had to get by with talking in a mixture of some Chinese words they had in common and English.

What about being a gravedigger? I'll probably end up being one myself because of my tendencies to initially stay awake for long periods at night!

You have to report back with every detail of your trip. I'm so excited for you.
Two tests and 32 hours away from Pittsburgh. I'm also reverting to my thirteen year old self and watching NIN videos while squeeing over how "oh em gee super hot" trent reznor is. Just thought I'd share.
