I think I'm not going to do anything but watch 30 Rock and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and read Harry Potter all day. I'm really excited about it.
Funniest show ever! I wish season 5 would hurry up and be released on DVD, I'm sick of watching it on youtube over and over.

Listen close to the ending part when a few musicians walk out on stage and people are cheering; and then Lindsey and Stevie walk out hand-in-hand and there's just this - ROAR! It's AMAZING! :)

I know!!!! I'm already on my third watch. I can't believe I am just now seeing this, 10 years into my fandom. But it kind of fills the void of nothing new from FM.
Edit: This has also completely reaffirmed that Say You Will is my favorite album of theirs. I just really want that Silver Girl demo!!

YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!! Someone who agrees with me! SYW is my fave album, as well! I just really would've loved a couple different "Miranda" mixes (duh!) and didya see FM rehearsing EVERYBODY FINDS OUT in TOUR REHEARSALS??!? It would've been awesome to hear that live!

Haha, I love SYW. I remember when I first got it, I put it in, turned out all lights, and just listened. And it completely blew me away. I do love Mirage and Tusk, but SYW is just perfect to me. I loved the part where they were rehearsing, I thought it sounded good when they did it. I can only imagine how much more this album could have been incredible with Christine being a part of it.......fantasy overdose.

when did you have the extraction? if you've a hole there, sounds like you've already some sort of 'dry' socket. if this is recent, a blod clot should have formed allowing the healing to begin (e.g. no hole) :D i've never had an extraction nor dry socket but, basically, if you don't want a hole to pack goodies, a re-visit to the dentist would be in order...not sure what exactly they do (where's michelle?) but I imagine they do something (cut perhaps...owee...or maybe they pack it with the goodstuff :])...let the healing can begin. good luck.
or http://www.dental--health.com/faq_drysocket.html
I am a huge fan of nitrous oxide
I got it yanked on Monday. There WAS a blood clot, but it went away after a couple days. Now it's just sort of...hole-y. It doesn't really hurt, though. I mean, if I poke at it, then it hurts a little. But I thought dry socket was supposed to be like, OMG painful.
I have a check-up on Monday morning, so I am sure they will tell me if I am okay or not then, but in the meantime, I keep stewing about it.
I didn't get any nitrous, but they did have a nifty novocaine machine that did not require the insertion of giant needles in 10 different spots to get the entire side of my head numb. Like, even my ear was numb. That was pretty sweet.
They say that in the 22nd Century, when they start going all Star Trek on people's asses and transferring their consciousness into cyborg robots, the robot's brains will eventually decay away into nothingness, no matter what they do.
So . . . yes. Sorry to be so blunt about it. But, yes.
But I'd guess you have a good 120 years left! ....... ;)
Well, I kinda figured I was going to die at some point. But I don't want to die right now, on account of I still have a really long Netflix queue to get through & also I want a pony.

It's rare that I'll complain about stuff online like this, but I'm really annoyed at my mum and stepdad at the moment. They bought two fabric couches on Friday, and when I came back from dad's today they started complaining about how our cat Sooty was scratching at them, which prompted me to laugh.
"No, it's not funny, he'll ruin them if he keeps up like that."
"But didn't you consider that he'd do that? That fabric is all too tempting for a cat! I hardly blame him (Sooty)!"
"We didn't think..."
No, you two didn't think. Am I the only one who thinks in this household?! Perhaps because I have a comparatively lesser workload I can spend more time thinking things through rationally... if that's the case, then why don't they take on board more of what I have to say? Another case in point tonight:
"The media really beat up these stories of bad bikie gangs. On Hungry Beast (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungry_Beast) there was a good interview during a meeting of representatives from several bikie gangs, and it showed that like any organisations they have lots of nice, good people with a few bad ones. I mean, we hear all about whenever a bikie beats up another one from a different gang, but it happens that infrequently compared to the various attacks that occur by uncategorised people every day to be nothing more than just another attack of one discriminating person on their perceived enemy. It's just because bikies often enjoy looking tough that the media's able to jump on them and make their stories."
A few refuted arguments later...
"Well, that's just your view Jordan."
"What do you mean? You've done nothing to refute my claims. I've just told you what you've told me is media spin. Just watch the interview I cited!"
Yep, you're right, as usual, anyway..."
 Apparently disagreement and refutation means that I'm argumentative and unreasonably stubborn. I'd agree with my mum and stepdad if they'd give me a good reason to, but all I ever get from them are gut feelings, predetermined/unfounded opinions, and general frustration of my telling them if I think they're wrong about something. :distress: No wonder all I ever seem to want to do around them is escape from their presence!

Gee, I'm unusually whiny at the moment! Everyone else has their own problems, and yet here I am adding to everyone else's with mine! Well, feel free to ignore what I have to say. :)
All was going rather well today... or as well as it could go, considering how nervous I was - I was going to try to talk to a girl I've developed a love interest in from my maths tutorial. I found myself musing for a ridiculous amount of time last night over what I'd say, thinking of possible responses and how I'd respond in turn. Anyway, I decided that I'd sit with my mates through the tute, and try to chat to her at the end of it. Well, the end of the tute approached, and I began packing up in preparation (Tessa always rushes out quickly), becoming increasingly nervous as I was doing so. (Btw I'm very rarely a nervous person, so I was really thrown off by it! Talk about a snowball effect!) Then it came time to leave, and, as usual, Tessa was just about to dash off. I said bye to my mate Giles, and made to wander off with Tessa, but Giles said something I neither expected or wanted to hear:
"Wait up! Waaaaaiiiiit!"
Damn it! Completely torn between a rock and a hard place! I always hate it when my friends bustle off (even though I understand that there's always somewhere to be), so I waited like a decent friend should, leaving Tessa to promptly scurry off. As for Giles, it turned out that he had a (rather interesting) maths question to ask our tutor, but I otherwise have no idea why he wanted me to wait! He went so far as to ask me why I was following him to his next lecture! Let alone that he barely said bye to me...
So I made my way to the bus stop to go home, only to see a bus drive past me. It's a half hour between buses, so I decided to take a tram down to the train station instead. However, I managed to miss the train by mere seconds! So I went to Borders to spend more of my Christmas gift voucher. However, there was no Stevie or Lindsey, or any other artists I checked for that matter (oddly, I forgot to check Soft Cell, even though I've been humming "Where Did Our Love Go?" all day). I noticed Behind The Mask from my last visit, and even Time was there! But Say You Will was also there. Despite never really considering buying it (I'd heard a couple of tracks from it, and they didn't interest me), I was in a weird enough mood (not angry or frustrated... more like unusually energetic...) that I did just that.
The one decent thing that happened to come out of this was that I caught up with a friend that switched from Melbourne Uni back to RMIT, who I therefore don't see as much any more, on the train back home.
Btw, I'm not liking Say You Will much at all really. It's certainly a departure from anything they've done before, just like their other albums. However, unlike their other albums, this departure sent them strait into mainstream, modern day rock/pop. I hear too much of that already as it is, I'm afraid. I think this album will unfortunately remain largely unmoved from my collection, gathering dust. (My sincere apologies for all the SYW fans here at The Ledge! :sorry: It's just that this really doesn't appeal at all to me.) For those interested, I'm up to "Running Through The Garden". So far, "Murrow Turning Over In His Grave" is the closest to enjoyment I've had yet. It'll be interesting to see what I think of "Silver Girl", considering all the bad reception it receives here. Maybe it'll be the only one from the album I can say I like?
Oh, wait, here it is... yeah... no, Stevie... just no. :(
Btw, I thought it might be pertinent to add that I'm loving Lindsey's album Gift Of Screws, even though I don't like "DYMM", "Underground" and "Treason" that much.

This season for my FHS tennis team hasn't been all the great for us as a whole but individually we are kinda awesome and tight knit with each other which is kinda great. The one thing that sucks is the our tennis team didn't really get a damn thing this year and we have yet to get lockers but it's all good. I don't really like how the girls teams and guys teams (for all of our sports) get treated completely different. ex: the girls team in lacrosse isn't allowed to be as aggressive as the guys because they are girls...:(
My doubles partner and I are quite deadly; we aim for heads, shoulders, feet, etc. because it works-- hows that for aggressive?

Gold 104.3 is continuing its awesomeness - they just had a clip of an interview John Peters (http://www.1043fm.com.au/ARNClassic/djschedules/djschedule.asp) had with Stevie, where they were talking about "Rhiannon", how Stevie didn't want it released as a single (she thought it "too artsy"), how she was wrong, and how she brought the name Rhiannon into American culture. :D They're also playing a live version of Rhiannon at the moment, where Stevie said something like "This is the story of the Welsh witch" at the start of the performance. :blob2:
What with last night and tonight, Gold 104.3 has now comfortably replaced 1377 for me, which is now a talk station (although I'll still miss "The Mighty Fleetwood Mac" - what one of the late night presenters would call FM after playing any of their songs on 1377). :)

I own a cleaning business. Today while I was working a receptionist began asking me what other cleaning jobs I did for other clients. I asked her if she had some new work for me and she said, "no. I was just wondering what it is that you do?'
"I sing," is what I answered her. Then she giggled and walked away.
I've always wanted to be able to say that to someone in response to a legitimate question.

Marissa, can I have an update on your dates with the five guys in five days post?
Ha! You certainly can. It's a little sad that I can't remember the details of who all I saw that week, but I'm going to give it my best shot. I know the Michaels were involved.
So Michael #1 didn't even get out of the gate. He was either homophobic or completely apolitical (or some mix of the two) and neither of those works for me. He cancelled on a Dan Choi lecture. I cancelled on him.
Michael #2 is a grad student who I've seen a few times, but he and I just don't really click. He doesn't understand when I'm joking and follows almost everything I say with "is that sarcastic?" Not attractive. I gave him the "I think we work better as friends" talk, which is bull**** because we were never friends, he asked for my number on the subway one day, and we haven't talked since.
Randy? I'm not sure if I was booked to go out with Randy that week, but he's a grad student at Harvard who I've been seeing for the past few weeks. He knows that I'm leaving for San Francisco for the summer and then Ireland next year and that I'm not interested in a relationship. He alternates between ignoring me for that and inviting me to the Hamptons with him. When he isn't being a twelve year old girl, though, I like him...and you guys will like this: He took me on a date that consisted of us sitting by the Charles river and me telling him Stevie Nicks's lifehistory. Oh, and he once started a conversation with "Where were you born? Because I was born in the desert.." (me, thinking: this is a coincidence. bite your tongue, marissa. don't reveal how much of a freak you are now)...he finishes, "so I know how it feels there." "YOU ASSHOLE. I thought that's what you were doing! Why would you pick THAT song to prove to me you've listened to her?"
Jake? If I went out with Jake that week, it was a date to go and buy him new clothes...because that's just the way Jake is. He's out of his mind and arrogant, which is actually, unfortunately, the most attractive trait for me in a man, but Jake doesn't have the whole package to back it up. That was actually the last time I saw him, though. He ended up getting suspended from a certain well known institution in Boston for reasons not unfamiliar to Stevie Nicks fans.
There was one more rather unfortunate situation that I was involved in recently, but I think I've gone on too long already in a topic everyone will hate

I've had that same argument with my Mum about Blondie. It wasn't until I went to Scotland to meet one of my best friends, who I met on a Blondie forum, that she realised I was finally happy. Also, your Mum should be thankful you're 'finding yourself' through someone as beautiful and gentle as Stevie and not the complete history of Punk, as I did

THAT'S NOT MUSIC, THAT'S JUST NOISE"), or my KMFDM tapes ("WE ARE REPUBLICANS IN THIS HOUSE, YOUNG LADY"), or my Type O Negative tapes ("JESUS CHRIST ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT LOOK LIKE HIM, THAT IS JUST WRONG"), etc.
Sigh.
Here is a video that always brings a smile to my face, even though my heart is 3 sizes too small. It is a live performance of "Take Your Mama" by the Scissor Sisters on the Brit Awards. It has singing watermelons! And dancing glitter eggs!

Well, my life is complete and utter **** right now, but there is good news to be had! A friend is taking me on an all expenses paid trip to New Orleans on Friday... I'm so excited! I haven't been there in 19 years! I can't wait to stroll around the Garden District tracing the steps of my favorite book series, The Witching Hour by Anne Rice. I need out of my neck of the woods so badly it's not even funny. I come to life West of the Mississippi!

Well i had just about the biggest fight EVER with my mother. She came into my room, knocked my whole record collection to the floor and said i was a "drug addict" because of how much time i spend on FM/Stevie. She was like, " you're trying to find yourself through Stevie Nicks" and " You're not social anymore"...which i guess might be true, but i never get along with my mom so it doesm't matter. Anyways, sorry to vent.....i need a couple cheerup songs? Any ideas???:(
What I fail to see is what's wrong with finding yourself through Stevie? It's not like you're trying to find yourself through heroin! But seriously, that sounds like typical Mom stuff. They cannot stand when their babies get older, become more independent, form their own identities, and eventually leave the nest. I'm nearly 30, and I still go round with my Mother over such issues. We actually haven't spoken in 5 months now because my Mom still tries to manipulate me, run my life, and make me feel guilty about not just my shortcomings, but also my accomplishments! It's a shame, because we have such a good rapport when she's not doing that ****. Seriously though, don't let Mommy Dearest get you down. At your age, you're supposed to be finding yourself. And the sooner you start asserting yourself and your own identity, the better.

She sounds about like my mom did. Anytime my mom got mad at me, she'd throw my Fleetwood Mac tapes! I was so glad to leave home! I've never understood what is so threatening to people when someone enjoys certain music and wants to spend a lot of time on it. I mean, how is that different than any other hobby? To me, your mom should be happy that you are 'addicted' to Stevie/FM and not addicted to drugs or out getting pregnant or stealing....there's a lot worse things than listening to music. Anyway, as for not being social, why does someone always have to be around others? In my opinion, part of growing up is learning to be happy with yourself and learning to stand on your own.

i have a horrid relationship w/ my mother, haven't spoken to her in years, she was highly abusive & i was never so glad to leave home~ i would never treat my son like she did me, i have spent my time w/ my son breaking the cycle of craziness i grew up w/~
my mom & stevie are the same age & my mom was so jealous of stevie it was disgusting~ i never compared the 2, never threw stevie in her face~ but she didn't 'get' what i saw in stevie~ she would take every opportunity to bash stevie, for the stupidest reasons~ & i remember when stevie played w/ the mac for clinton, the song wasn't even a full 10 seconds in, before my mom called me to make wise cracks about stevie's weight~ but every time stevie or the mac played by where my mom was living at the time, she would go:shrug:~ i never got that or my mother, still don't:)~

Today, just before my tennis match, i started feeling a really sharp pain in my food...I did a lap around the courts-- walking-- and it went away. I'm tied 1-1 in the first friggin set and guess what happens? Yeah, I lost that game but it's okay. Same thing happened in my doubles match but I was able to work through most of it.
My list of injuries:
my friggin dead left knee
my new foot thing
and this tooth that is piercing through my gums as I type :distress:
On a good note:
Tonight was CiCi's (pizza) night for the tennis team which was really fun

I just got home from seeing American Idiot on Broadway. A friend offered me a free ticket and I jumped at the chance.
I really didn't know what to expect and I hadn't read too much about it, but it was absolutely amazing and unlike anything else i've seen on broadway. IMHO.
I don't even know how to describe this...it was like Rent meets Reality Bites meets Nirvana's first year of playing in a band. I really enjoyed the departure from the normal broadway show format. I mean don't get me wrong, it's a musical, but it has such a different vibe then many other shows I've seen.
What I enjoyed most is the fact that seeing this show has me interested in finding out more about Green Day. I've always liked their music, but never paid too much attention to it when it wasn't the song playing on the radio. But now I want to dig deeper and find out more about the band and who they are and where they came from, what's behind their song writing, etc.
Anyway, just wanted to pass along my excitement about this show. If anyone finds themselves in NYC and gets the chance to see the show, just go, no questions asked. As a fan of music, there's no doubt that you won't enjoy this.

Hmm? A slow laptop? Tell me more!
(I'm always attracted to old, slow hardware so I can whack a light Linux distro on it and watch it start working as if it were a modern, brand new computer.)

Sounds a bit like my mum's laptop actually (perhaps better - her's is 6yo). It doesn't get from boot to a working desktop for well over a minute, let alone the time it takes for apps to open. If she ran even a medium-sized distro on it (e.g. Ubuntu 10.04, which I'm using) it'd fly like my laptop (all of two months old, with ~30sec boot-desktop time). Even Mac's OS X 10.6 would work on it pretty nicely, if it accepted all the hardware...
The basic difference is Windows is, well, Windows like (there's really no other OS quite like it), while Linux and OS X are Unix-like. The nature of a Unix-like OS is simple, at least to the computer (arguably, if not also the user), so it runs with much lower hardware requirements.
I imagine the satisfaction for nerds of making an old computer run fast is comparable to car-lovers restoring an old car. :)
DefDumbandBlond
04-29-2010, 11:37 AM
Yeah I wish this one was a bit faster, but it's better than nothing I guess! I read it's because of the processor size (which isn't very big especially compared to the one I typically use) and the fact it's running Vista which takes up a lot is part of the reason it's slower.
jaycee

Blame not the processor! You'd be surprised at what old hardware can do if given the right environment (which Vi$ta obviously isn't)...
As an interesting side, W7 actually has higher hardware requirements than Vista. The main reasons it feels faster is that it's been optimised for everyday tasks, and boot speeds have also been optimised.

Seattle really is an awesome city. I always love going out there. There is a lot to do, and it's so beautiful. When you get around to exploring, make sure you hit the U District, as it's packed with kickass thrift stores - only place I've ever seen a genuine pair of those vintage platform shoes with the goldfish in the heels. They also have a bunch of great used record shops, where I've acquired some Mac 45s over the years.

And I love thrift stores, too. I dunno if you remember those, but they were hilarious - we had a ton of the different billboards in our area with a little stone tiki dude with atrocious grammar shouting stuff at you, like, "Billboard cost beer god $6, 518. Buy Honey Brown Lager now!" and "That not wife in car! You buy Honey Brown Lager now or beer god tell!" and "You, in Budweiser truck! Repent!"

Trawling YouTube, ran across great quality video from the Pittsburgh Unleashed show, which is the one I got to see (you may remember me texting the play-by-play to Madam Skcin during the show, because I am a great humanitarian like that), and was reminded of how badass & fun "Go Insane" was with the band as opposed to just Lindsey doing the acoustic thing.
I love the acoustic thing, don't get me wrong, but I danced like an idiot during this, because YAY:

As someone who knows a little bit about music, I'd like to comment that when it comes to guitar-playing, Lindsey may be good but he's just simply not "top-tier," he doesn't have the chops of someone like Joe Satriani or Yngvie Malmsteen or . . . or Eric Clapt- or uh - shush a minute please - Yike. Okay well *THAT* was pretty good!
Uhm, yeah so he doesn't have the ability to - uhm . . . uh. . . *where* was I? Oh yeah something about Lindsey's heavenly guitar-playing. He - uhm - yike.

On a different note, your reference to Malmsteen makes me wish I still had that one Pantera home video where they chase him through a hotel lobby and into an elevator, trying to give him a donut, with Malmsteen yelling, "I don't like f*cking donuts! I SAID I DON'T LIKE F*CKING DONUTS!" the whole time in his goofy little accent.
When Guitar Hero 3 came out & made that DragonForce band popular, I was sitting around, playing it with some friends, and we ended up spending at least an hour laughing hysterically over the fact that Yngwie Malmsteen was surely out there in a corner somewhere, curled up in the fetal position and sobbing.
Y'know, cos he's a tool and stuff.

Don't be nervous. You will be fine. I don't know what the AP tests are like these days, but when I took mine, they were not nearly as hard as we had been led to believe. English/Lit/language stuff is my specialty, but the way they talked about the tests, I figured I'd be lucky if I landed a 3 on my Lit test. I ended up with a 5.
Of course, I bombed all the math related ones in a spectacular explosion of fail and ineptitude, but numbers & I have never gotten along and I expected that to happen.

Yeah, math & I never got along at all. I did all right in my physics classes, because I could sort of see what that math was doing, but AP Calc would've killed me dead before I even made it through the door. So I very much envy you that ability, especially when everyone in my family are math whiz engineers - up until the day she died, my mom was STILL asking me when I was going to get a "real job," because writing is apparently not a real job.
Watch, you will get your 5 when you take the Calc test.
PS - My initial gut feeling wanted me to say that a pesticide treadmill would be like Stevie's treadmill in the "Stand Back" video, cos you know Mama was all, "Spray that down with some Raid before I get on it. Do you have any idea the kind of havoc even a single moth would wreak on all this chiffon?"
...but then I thought that would be too obscure, even for an AP test, so I consulted the Oracle (by which I mean Google), and it turns out that "pesticide treadmill" is the term used to refer to the neverending cycle of us using too many pesticides in agriculture and the bugs getting all resistant to them and junk.

OMG guys. So earlier this week I had mentioned ( I think) something about this band Dear Lovely. Well I just got home (4:33 AM) and I had a blast. So they are this Christian screamo/hardcore band. Well obviously, I am an Atheist, so it is very strange for me to be listening to this. Well anyway, so tonight was their very last show ever. It was just great, and more than I even expected. So right off the bat, the very first song they played was my favorite song. So yeah, point is, it was very bittersweet considering it was the first time I had seen them, and it being their last show ever.
So it was a mixture of :distress: and :D:D
Now I have "Hallelujah, salvation has come to the lonely ones.." stuck in my head.

That sounds really cool. When I was young I used to try to convert everyone in my path into a SN fan, but I never bother anymore. People will like what they like and discover what they will in their own time. I enjoy Lady Gaga and Kanye West very much but although I may not listen to Stevie as much(anymore) she will always hold a special place in my heart and I will always go see her live when she comes to a City near me, even though the order of her set list drives me bonkers.

JTIS that it's Type O Negative Appreciation Night again at Casa del Zombie because I am still feeling terribly maudlin over the recent death of Peter Steele.
http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv335/nowgozombiego/PeterSteele2.jpg http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv335/nowgozombiego/PeterSteele1.jpg
Oh Pete.
So here's a song called "Love You to Death" for y'all, off my favorite Type O album, October Rust:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aJ6faHNsJw4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aJ6faHNsJw4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I cannot count how many copies of that album I have run into the ground over the years.
I also cannot count how many little metalhead babies were conceived in the world while that album played over the years, but I am going to guess it was about a bajillion. Well, a bajillion and one, if we count my son. Ha!
And a fun one, as well - Pete spent many albums cataloging his lady troubles, and while it sucks that he had so many of them, they did bring us some brilliantly hilarious songs.
So here's the Drab Four again with "Unsuccessfully Coping with the Natural Beauty of Infidelity (I Know You're F*cking Someone Else)" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIHSEX9TLl8), from the '91 album Slow, Deep and Hard. That song is rather...NSFW, so just be aware. Wish I could've found my favorite live version, because it's even funnier (for instance, it ends with him shouting, "Yeah, thanks for the memories, you fat ass bitch!"), but no one has it on teh YouTubes. :distress:
It really sucks when an artist you have adored for years dies, and Pete was only 48. Way, way too young. Sigh.

Yeah, I think it's hit a lot of people pretty hard, especially because he had been doing so much better the past couple of years and was working on new material and everything.
Type O has been a major part of my musical life since forever. I still remember the first time I popped the taped copy of Bloody Kisses my friend Ogre made for me into my little boombox. I sat on my bed and listened to it straight through 3 times before I could be bothered to get up and do anything else.
It's just a huge loss. Pete was a brilliant mess of a genius musically, and he was literally larger than life - I mean, dude played a double bass like it was a guitar. And that voice! Type O's sound in general was so unique, you could never hear them and mistake it for anything else.
He also had the best sense of humor of any musician I can think of. What other band but Type O Negative would name their greatest hits album "The Least Worst of"?
So tell your uncle I sincerely feel his pain. I'm wearing my TEAM PROZAC shirt even as we type.

My husband is a Type O fan. My stepson told me that he saw in a guitar magazine that Peter Steele had died. Of course, there has been more than one hoax over the years saying that Peter had died. I went to the Type O official website and saw it was true this time. So last Friday night I had to tell my husband that Peter was gone. He was so shocked. I was surprised that I didn't see the news online anywhere right away.

My husband came home from work today and told me they decided to cut his and another guy's hours to 31 hours a week (down from 40) just so they won't have to keep him on employee health insurance. They already hired 4 other guys from a temp agency, just so they could pay them less. Now there's only 2 full time employees (it's a small division of a bigger company). One of the full time guys has been ripping off the company for years. I have told my husband so many times that he needs to report this jerk. The good thing is that at least my son is on different insurance, so we won't have to find some other company and wait a year until they cover his cardiologist....JTIS

First - so sorry to hear about your husband's job. I feel for you. :xoxo:
But he has excellent taste in music! Mainstream media isn't reporting it at all, which is a shame, but Blabbermouth had it pretty much right away. I remember the last hoax very well - when he was actually in jail, lol - but yeah. It just sucks all around.
Haha, that's actually the only album I own because my uncle bought it for me years ago. However, World Coming Down is a personal favorite of mine.
It's a good intro to the band, for sure - plus it has "Stay Out of My Dreams" and "12 Black Rainbows," and those are great songs. You should get the album World Coming Down - it's excellent.

^^ Sorry to hear that Holidayroad.
I had a crazy dream last night. I was walking around some casino, or
some type of arena with Eric Clapton. Of course I had my guitar with
me. So today on a little trip I took, right before I reached my destination
guess who I heard on the radio?

Well, I was working.
Then I got done working.
So now I'm just staring off into the middle distance while trying to come up with an easy way to make a hot dog cake for my son's Cub Scout cake contest thingie.
And by "hot dog cake," I mean, like, a dachshund in a hot dog bun, zomg so cute.

Well I think I killed my knee all over again...but I won my singles match =]
Yesterday in Chem class I decided to play hangman with my friends and I totally had them screwed when I started doing titles of songs. The ones I got them on:
Layla
Black Magic Woman (until someone figured it out about 20 years later lol)
and How Still My Love (my friend Storm only owns The Wild Heart so she never got it)

Edit:
Speaking of the Pittsburgh Penguins, I love my town.
From the Pens Blog--
(Quotes an articled called "Malkin Needs to Come Alive)
Why even write an article like this?
Makes absolutely no sense.
Anyone who says Malkin hasn't been his Conn Smythe self these playoffs, they're right.
But guess what. Every Penguin fan already knows this.
Every NHL fan already knows this.
But it's a journalist's job to sell fear.
Because fearful people listen to what they perceive as a voice of reason.
And they'll buy the paper tomorrow
....only in Pittsburgh would a negative review of a player's performance be called fear mongering.

^ wish i could, Viv......but i am in NJ...
Well, today was a very FM day in Biology:
1. Our lesson was derived from a website called ENCHANTEDlearning.com
2. We talked about CYCLES....and how life is a big CYCLE...
3. After learning about food chains, my teacher asked me to define THE CHAIN. I kinda just sat there for a while first, then realized what she was asking...
4. Apparently dominant traits MASK recessive traits...
to say the least, it was a very distracting class...JTIS

If it goes 7, there's an extremely high chance I'll be at Game 7 at the Igloo, which is next Wednesday. Game 5 in Phoenix on Tuesday (Spurs/Suns) in Phoenix, and then US Suckways to PIT for a day or two. I need to get out of Portland one last time before fall (San Francisco doesn't count) so I'm closely monitoring the situation.

Yike - as somebody interested in Education it bugs the crap out of me that some teachers can be such control freaks. At the least it was worth a laugh; and beyond that it was something that could have been a teaching opportunity. Epic Fail.

P.S. - Oh and it also absolutely bugs the living CRAP out of me that you're learning about "the inventor of the seed drill" rather than about incredibly important historical events and how to think critically about them. I'm not saying that never happens - but from what you describe - - - kinda sounds to me, personally, like that person was just wasting everyone's time there. i.m.o. it's very important to not just think about what you're being taught; but about what you're not being taught. Well, today in English my cool teacher (Casual Stevie Fan) was explaining what a perm was. No one had a clue (I got to an all boys!) excpet for me. I was like,
"Oh, I know all about Perms, because of a certain someone"
"Who Matt?"
Then the class went wild, shouting "STEVIE, STEVIE, STEVIE!"
I was sooo embaressed, but it was also sooo funny!

After talking about it and trying for over a year, it looks like I'm FINALLY going to be able to move back to Austin, TX next month!! :] My wifey put in his two weeks notice at work, and now we're going to begin frantically getting ready for the cross country move! Gotta repair and pack up the condo to get it rented, find a new place to rent in Austin from here, etc. I'm just so excited. Ever since my family moved away from Austin in the '90s I've been biding my time until I could return. It looks like it's FINALLY going to happen now! :woohoo: I can't even tell y'all how ecstatic I am!!
