Facebook topic of the night. Flip flops on someone, or ugly Crocs. Me and a few other women agreed on some nice flip flops and some even liked barefeet. You know I had fun with this :)

Uck. I've been stuck in bed for days with headache, weakness, stomach cramps (It feels like I'm being stabbed in the stomach with a spoon) and other ugly symptoms of which I won't go into. I hate this because I have so much work to do for Uni, as well as a commission for a painting for my friend's birthday on the twelfth. But I can't not do it. I'll just have to suffer through it while working. All I want to do right now is sleep until it goes away :( I haven't slept in days despite being stuck in bed.

JTIS...
My mom was brought into surgery an hour ago…so I went downstairs and got some “dinner” now I am back up in the waiting room….waiting…good thing there is wifi and I brought movies!!! My mom was a nervous wreck and crying a lot. I stayed strong as best as I could and didnt cry…Once they sedated her and started bringing her into surgery I cracked….I was standing there watching my mom be wheeled into surgery while I held my lil backpack and laptop bag…with the nurse next to me…I was bawling my eyes out and told her my mom is my everything and how I’m an only child…She said some nice words and gave me a hug…
I am watching “Super Bad” right now….waiting =\ Its gonna be a LOOOOONG night
my thought & prayers are w/ you caitlin, for you & your mama~

Hope all goes well with everyone's family health issues. Hope you feel better, Bee.
JTIS - we just put our house on the market. Lost a really great house last week because 2 other bidders already had THEIR houses sold & didn't need a contigency clause like we would have. :distress: That kicked us in the ass.

That my moms surgery went well yesterday...My dads gf actually came and visited with me for an hour and half while I was waiting for my mom to get into recovery. I finally got to see my mom and she actually didnt look as bad as I thought lol They didnt shave much off...just where they needed and stuff. She spent the night in ICU and was still in ICU today waiting for a room. She might be discharged tomorrow and I cant wait for her to come home.

JTIS. My headache does seem to be wearing off, but the stomach cramps are worse than ever. I hate being sick. It's a little known fact, but I'm terribly allergic to pain. Gah...I need Pineapple Upside Down Cake Ice Cream. I haven't eaten in days because I've lost my appetite completely, but that might tempt it out of hiding.

Subpoena for what? I got my second jury notice summons, a few days ago. I've been ignoring it like Stevie shipper fans!
By second, I mean it's my first...I got one, about 3 years ago, and thank god, never got called. I don't want to do it, and I'm fairly certain I can get out of it, if I have to..
I'm kind of down on life right now.....bleh. FML. I LOVE playing in a band, and doing sound and lights for other bands, but right now, I truly regret that I rarely have a weekend evening off(maybe a Friday off, every 6 weeks). I, for the first time ever, feel like I'm missing out on life, as my friends always have parties, to which I'm always invited, but can rarely attend. I enjoy playing music, and like making good money, but at what price? I sound like Stevie on her soapbox, complaining about giving up, on having a real life.......
Pardon my ramble....:o

Custody case. My client was the child. They call a therapist in as an "expert" witness. There's no way I can do it. I panicked a little until I saw it was signed by an attorney, not a judge. If it's signed by a judge, one has to appear.

No. You can quash a subpoena if a lawyer signs it and you have compelling reasons (per my agency's policies and procedure manual, section 6.15 lol). It's not that I don't want to help, but one business day notice is ridiculous. I am booked with clients through the month of October and into early November already.
If a judge signed it, it would be a done deal.

I don't know if it's the same for a jury summons. I've actually always wanted to serve on a jury. I received a summons last year and was so disappointed at not being chosen. The letter said to call after 6pm with the code I was given. I did, and was told (by a recording) that I was not needed. I think being a social worker turns them off. :)
The subpoena was to testify and usually therapists are leery about testifying because of client confidentiality. Not to mention how badly it interferes with the therapist's schedule.

JTIS..
That Ashley's parents went away to California last Thursday...and the first couple days we didnt do much...since my mom was in the hospital and I went to visit her everyday. We went to our town's Homecoming football game..then Saturday my mom came home from the hospital(YAY)...then that night we had a party...had a few friends over and had some drinks...well as the night went on..for some reason Jimmy got wicked mad at Katie and they started fighting(their not even dating lol) and Sarah and Michael were sleeping so it was just me and ashley trying to mediate them...THEN Jimmy wanted to go home even tho he was in no shape to drive...we tried for over an hour to make him not drive but he wasnt having it...So we just let him go....Katie, Ashley, and I finally went to bed at 6am and woke up at 10:30am....Ashley went to work 11-5...then the 5 of us(plus michael's friend) went to Spooky World...and partied again....Yesterday was a slooooow moving day lmao Today we're just cleaning up and stuff....Ashley's parents come home tmrw
Needless to say it was a sucessful week by ourselves lol

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'll be 30 next year and I'm actually terribly excited about it. You always hear about how hard it is cresting that hill, but I couldn't feel more differently. I'm looking forward to the adventure! I guess I'm one of those people who always thinks the best stuff is yet to come (vs some people who only look backwards and wish to reclaim memories).

I'm far from being one of those "OMG high school was the best time of my life!" people, but I was not terribly excited about 30. Also, everyone treats that like it's the landmark (there's another word but I just woke up and can't think of it) birthday, but 31 and 32 stung more than 30. Especially when I discovered that I'm no longer being carded for alcohol. I don't even drink that much, but for a while I would order some every time I went out to a restaurant just to see if they would card me (they never did). They didn't even card me at the liquor store when I went to buy some Di Saronno to make amaretto bread pudding. I was really offended over that one - I even started to ask the guy if he wanted to see my ID but then I thought that might seem pathetic.

I can think of far worse ways to spend an afternoon ;)
JTIS. People with their holier than thou attitudes regarding my financial situation really get on my nerves. Yes, I'm allowing myself to get into debt because of my education. No. I don't have a job. But people stop listening right there. They don't listen to the next part of the story. I'm in debt because I'm from a poor working class family. My parents are disabled and cannot work, and thus we have very little by the way of income. So there is no way they could afford to put me through years of a Degree course. And I don't have a job because as well as working so hard that I often have to go without sleep, I am a carer for my father. I am at his constant beck and call because of his ill health and his inability to do much for himself. He's been house bound for years. And no, I don't surround myself with the latest luxuries. I don't have an iPad, Credit Card, widescreen TV, Stereo Sound System, Car ( I walk or use public transportation), own home (I live with my parents who live in a council run home) or any source of real financial security. I don't sponge off of the system. I buy the bare necessities. People don't generally hear any of that. They just hear that I'm a student living off of student loans. To them that translates into lazy. Thank you, ignorant people of Facebook for ruining my mood. Why must everything be so hideously black and white?

Thank you. I am trying harder than these people apparently give me credit for to make my future brighter than the general prospect for people in my city. I can't have these years back, so I want them to pass knowing they're going to benefit me in the future. I've never been one who got off on having a lot of money. If it's there, fine. If it's not, oh well. There's plenty to do in life that doesn't need it. I'm just glad there are people out there who understand, and don't dismiss me as lazy. There is nothing lazy about wanting to better yourself.

Hehe mee too, it has been a pretty great day doing college work. I love my projects I have been given so i'm spending all of my time doing them. The Annie Lennox videos have inspired me to do a photoshoot for fashion. So i'm excited. I love days when you feel really creative and get loads done.
I understand your situation and I find it so insulting when people have a go for living off student finances. At least you're trying to do something with your life unlike the people who run their mouths. You're very talented and an hardworker (well from what i gather) so sod what people think.
I was at my friends the other week and her friend was there who i had never met before and she knew me and Amy were doing photography & carrying on at uni after to top it off to a degree and she was telling us that it's a waste of time and it won't get us anywhere. She's on the dole so i didn't get too offended. Some people are just idiots and don't understand education.

I wish I felt inspired at the moment. I'm feeling quite uncreative today (uck!), so just spending my time researching for my classes and dissertation.
It makes me laugh so much when people who are living on the dole seem to develop an oracle state when it comes to the working industry. If you haven't tried to get a job or do something for society, and are just using the dole as an excuse to do very little, then you are the sponger. I wouldn't get offended at all. There are plenty of opportunities for photographers. Local newspapers, tabloids, freelance, food, retail and leisure photograph, the list goes on. Though the food photography aspect could be dodgy, unless you plan on photographing Kebabs for a living lol. Which I know you wouldn't want to do. I'm sure there'll be plenty of options for you outside of education.

I know it just frustrates me so much. Exactly i told her that there is so much you can do photography wise but she was having none of it. It's frustrating but it's no skin off my nose. At least I am actually doing something with my life. Some people tend to think that creative courses and jobs are beneath other careers and thats the thing that frustrates me. Not everyone is creative just like not everyone is made to do other jobs so people shouldn't look down on people for their career choice. If you're a painter and you love it then do it.. if you work in a shop and you love it then do it as long as you're doing something and not just grab grab grab from the government. I wouldn't do that if I were you. I have several friends in the Human Resources field, others who are hiring managers, etc & they all universally have a chip on their shoulder about University of Phoenix & other online schools. If you're going to sink the time & money into education, go to a physical school. If you want to cut down on costs to get a bachelor's degree for instance, knock out your prerequisite courses at a local community college (usually takes 2 years), then transfer to a state-owned university for your junior & senior years.
Also, keep trying to get a salon job. Keep in mind you have to put your time in the trenches to get an actual job you WANT. So try getting your foot in the door at a place such as Supercuts, even if it's just part time or whatever they may offer. The old adage is unfortunately true... you have to have a job to get a job.

JTIS, I was talking to a co-worker yesterday that I hadn't seen for a few weeks. He appeared to have lost a little bit of weight, and I kind of complimented him on it and gave him a little encouragement; he was previously a bit stocky around the middle. Well, as it turned out, the weight loss was not intentional; it was a side effect of chemotherapy for Stage II cancer.
Kill. me. now. Please.
It's a chilly, cloudy day here in New York, which made me feel especially saddened when I just learned that the above-individual has just been entered into hospice care. :distress: I'm actually a bit devastated, even. The last time I spoke with him, a month ago, after a nasty round of lay-offs, he asked me if I could be his new "chat buddy," after his then-chat buddy got laid off. I assured him that I would be there for him, especially knowing what he was going through. Apparently his last scan "lit up like a Christmas tree," and there was pretty much nothing anyone could do about it. I was hoping for a miracle... and we carried on, even as he worked from home due to weakness, but it seems that things took a drastic turn for the worse quite suddenly. It just seems to me that it's such a f***ing waste that such a brilliant human- a medical doctor, a classical musician, a horticulturist - should meet his end so prematurely and painfully. I kind of hate the world at the moment. Really.

I got my nose pierced today, on a whim, and boy does it feel weird. Within the space of five minutes after deciding I might have it done, I'd had it done. There's no sense beating around the bush with these things, or nothing will ever get done. The inside of the piercing is a long spike which I can feel tickling my septum. I know I'll get used to it, but it's going to take some time lol. As soon as I'm able to, I'll see about changing the stud for a ring. Much more comfortable, and I'm sure it'll look better too.

That's why I'm burning it, to unwind so I can focus, if that makes sense. It's been a pretty hectic week and I need to chill so I can get some stuff done.
I've never tried Sandalwood for focusing, I usually just have Dragon's blood, lavender and Nag Champa, but I will get some next time I'm out, thanks for the tip :)

I still have heaps to do though and it's not in untill feb. I dread to think how many books i will have because I have so many ideas and shoots I want to do.
Having lot's of fun planning a Stevie inspired shoot too. If anyone has any awesome images that showcase Stevie's style send them this way. Taaar (:

Just thought I'd vent.
Since I transferred to my current school, college has felt a bit like having my self esteem repeatedly pummeled. Hence my embrace of message boards.
I've just found out I was blackballed from a Columbia society (at which I am a legacy) by a girl I went to high school with. I've known she was a snake since we were twelve, but she's been so friendly I wondered if I was being unfair. Nope.
One of the only bright sides of all of this is that I now have license to hate her forever. The downside: if I tell anyone we know, I come out looking jealous and pathetic (which...okay, granted). And so I turn to the internet.

No. I heard about it from my cousin. This girl just straight-up doesn't like me.
I, like everyone else in the world, have flaws, and I'm sure she has her reasons. We've known each other since we were five.
It really bothers me, though, that after pretending to be nice to me for the last two years and even inviting me to an occasional party, she would go behind my back like that. If a person doesn't like me, I wish she wouldn't pretend to like me. This girl is a snake, and always has been.

Nope. They're a semi-secret society. You don't contact them, they contact you. It's literally--

The membership of ************* requests the pleasure of your company...

That's quite strange, are there different levels of membership or can anyone throw anyone out ?
I love the idea of a secret society though, it makes me think of luxurious private libraries, hidden passageways, fine tea and winding staircases. In reality though it's probably not that much like my overly romanticized imaginings, but a girl can dream right ?

Hmm, I feel like my post was taken a little more seriously than intended.
Honestly, this isn't something to worry about. I'm not normally a hateful person. Ed (Hejira) and Danielle actually get sick of my playing Switzerland, and roll their eyes when I say I like a person.
Now, I absolutely do hate this girl. But I think I'm entitled to that. And that's not like hating a parent or former best friend--I don't think I'll be, like, consumed by my own rage at for a random chick I run into occasionally. This is not a horror movie situation, where they'll all look back and say, "...and that's when Grace changed." It's more like I'll stew over this for a few days and, like, f*ck with her mind occasionally. Maneuver my way to the board of a club, just to keep her out. I'm not sure yet. I'll just be over here, twirling my moustache.

Yes, I often picture you with pig tails and a dirndl dress carrying a pail of milk down some grassy slope in the Alps. Diplomatically, of course. :p BTW, I really think you should look into some kind of diplomatic field- whether at the UN or doing PR with Lizzie Grubman. He told me that he had lived with David Hockney (the artist) for twenty two years, and also that he had been sober for two years whilst holding a can of Beer. Might have taken a little more than a Stevie Nicks lyric to get him away. I was just lucky that my bus came a few minutes later so he didn't come back and try and get more. It's not even the first time that's happened, unfortunately. I love the fact that not one person at the bus stop noticed my "help me" demeanor and did anything to diffuse the situation. Though I suppose he had more charisma than the last one. The last time it happened, this huge slob of a man sat down beside me, looked blatantly at my chest after hocking a disgustingly huge loogie at a shop window and then proclaimed "I like your tits". That time I went and hid in that shop until he left lol.

While I'm successful in most aspects of life, the one aspect that has been the most important to me, has always escaped me. Love.
I'm still ~sort of~ seeing the grad student that I was, for the past two+ years, but the reins were pulled in on me, this past summer, and we now only have a "friends plus" sort of arrangement. Which.I.hate. One date a week(maybe two, on a good week). But I do it, because it's all I've got. I don't want hookups, I don't want friends plus. I want it all, and I'm consistently denied it. Because, "I just don't feel that we're ~perfect~ for each other".
And it sucks. I'm not happy with it, but we can't seem to break the connection(albeit limited now) between us. I'm still in love, but I feel it slowly being pulled from my body. The last thing I want to do, is give up, but...

Has there been some kind of downtime today? Only since I woke up I've only now been able to access The Ledge. At first I had a "Database Error", and then it just said that "Google Chrome cannot access this site".
On a side not, I had a blood test last Friday to check on the state of my Anaemia. I was told to ring Wednesday for the results, but due to a lack of time I've only been able to ring today. My results were "as the Doctor expected". What in the hell is that supposed to tell me, lol?I feel like I know less now than before I called...

Other people are just tiring. You know that old song "Nobody's Knows You When You're Down and Out"? Truer words were never spoken. People only love you when they can get something out of you or if you're "contributing" in some way. The minute you're going through a rough patch...forget it. Even people who are supposed to love you and support you when you're going through sh!t. Especially if you're struggling with depression or some other kind of mental illness. In that case, all other people do is drag you down further. Look in the mirror. The person you see is the only person you can count on for anything.

If you will look at the top of each forum, there is a sticky note about Ledge maintenance. The Ledge server currently is experiencing some glitches. The Ledge will go down on Sunday for several hours & hopefully everything will be ironed out after that. :)

Being alone is a hell of a lot better than living with a control freak who seems to resent your very existence. I'm supposed to be cleaning the house and cooking dinner right now for his mom and sister who are coming over later - I'm expected to do all of this myself because he works a full-time job and I "only" go to school. I have half a mind to take off and leave him to entertain his family himself.

Thanks Viv, I'm pretty jazzed about coming back here more often. And yeah I haven't talked to the bugger in so long :/
wild-heart, while I was getting the Simba tattoo on my shoulder I remember saying to myself that I couldn't imagine getting it any other place especially the ribs, cause i was in so much pain just on the shoulder. But my sister who is deathly affraid of needles got her wrist done & said it was bearable. Everyone says the ribs are not fun at all. So good luck! Sounds like it's gonna be a kick ass tat though!
Oh and I Just Thought I'd Share... tonight I ended up at a Hookah bar... the only one in our province, and I somehow found it... it was interesting.. it was after partying at an Irish pub so I was drunk and remember thinking saying out loud "IS THIS AN OPIUM BAR?" and.. Oh and we were supposed to go to this fashion photography talk but my tutor told us the wrong time so we rocked up two hours late so we went to the exhibition then the pub ahaha.
I got this amazing Blondie book today for £3 it's full of photographs of Debbie and the band which is really good to look at. I've come up with tons of photoshoot ideas just from flicking through.
Oh and my mom told me to order me some stuff i wanted from amazon for x mas off her so i did and some of the stuff has come today so because it had my name on it my brother put them on my bed. JTIS that I have a ridiculous amount of lesson planning to do for Monday, but as the queen of procrastination, I find myself watching 'The Dance' again! Seems like a better way to spend the afternoon - although not quite as productive.

There are people here that have a mindset that this is a Kingdom...and the royalty hold court...and me, the outsider...and I get totally burnt by te fire...an obnoxious or a slap your face...the queen ordered.
You guys probably have seen me in different Media Outlets
I do a healing and spiritual talk show with my best friend.
And my young child in me...that refuses to be jaded.
My Mum and I are very close...I lost my grandmother and my sister as they died in my arms...its kind of like giving them back to God...but its almost like a gift.
My Mum doesn't drink or smoke...she is so loving and giving. She came every day to visit me in the Hospital...she held my hand when I would get a crazy tremor. Giving up cocaine, pain killers and booze is not a Stand Back High Kick...the grounds we're beautiful and as I started escaping the clutches of demons...which were the drugs and drink.
Mum never gave up. To this day I turn to her when work and Political articles and deadlines and my love life...
A couple of days ago the found a mass on her liver and 2 on her pancreas.
She was just wheeled away for exploration surgery.
I have never been so sad, scared, lonely...I am becoming a guy that is losing spirit...
That's me and my rant...don't take the Kingdom rant too seriously...its a joke.

Shot four rolls of film today on fashion documentary and documentary in general. Took it to be developed and nowhere in the world develops it now apart from in Kansas. So what a waste, my tutor had given me the wrong out of date film (out of date stuff is good for lomo-what i was shooting on). Gutted.

No. But I won't let it happen again.
When we were an official couple, I wouldn't even consider cheating. We broke up(again, not my choice), then I was offered, "we can still hang out together, and do everything we've been doing....I just can't handle feeling the obligation of a relationship".
So "^" that's our status. I mean, most guys would be happy with that. Sex at least once a week, with cuddling/makeout time too(just as important to me as the sex), then hanging out talking/cuddling. But with the understanding(for the millionth time - not my choice), that "we're not perfect for each other, so I think we should both still be looking".
I think we're perfect for each other, but I'm only one mind, in the set of two.:distress:

Katy Perry? Uck....Wish I could end up with a couple of random tickets, but obviously to see somebody better. After seeing Lindsey in December, I kind of fancy seeing Peter Gabriel. That could be nifty. I'd love to see Billy Joel live. But considering his tradition of cancelling concerts, getting into car wrecks and the like, I'd probably be safer not bothering.

If you want to go to a good show and not give a jot about listening to bad music, Mika's the way to go. He has GIANT BALLOONS released into the crowd for play time, confetti and everything. At least he did when promoting his Life In Cartoon Motion CD. I hate admitting to it, but his songs are pretty fun. I know on principal I shouldn't like him because manufactured music brings me out in hives, but the child in me can't help herself.

Well, it's only really popular in the US and those who acquired a taste when visiting, isn't it. I mean, you don't get Fag.gots (Not the offensive term but the offal cake, before a mod has a heart attack) and Kendal Mint Cake and they're pretty popular over here. I suppose it's a relative thing. I won't turn my nose up at anything until I've tried it - and I will try anything!
What I don't like? Not too keen on aubergines (eggplants) - find them a bit bland but I will eat them if put in front of me. Also think courgettes (zucchini) are also a bit pointless but, again, I'll eat 'em!
There's just one thing I really detest (which is SO popular in the USA) and that is cinnamon - just too sweet and sickly for my tastes!

Wellbutrin and Adderol have appetite suppressant type side effects, so I would guess that your appetite increase is coming from there. Ask your doctor- weaning off all those meds is difficult.

When I start feeling this way, I know it's time for a personal day trip. Get out of town and go and do something physical. Go hike Enchanted Rock near Fredericksburg, or go see the Natural Bridge Caverns near New Braunfels; or if you don't want to leave town, have a museum day. Or take a book &/or ipod out to Commons Ford Park on Lake Austin & just chill (I've even got a portable hammock you can borrow). You badly need out of your everyday routine. :)

Yes, I need to do something like that. But I'd have to hide it from my bf because he is the neediest motherfcker on the planet and dealing with him saps what precious little empathy and emotional energy I have. We had a perfectly pleasant time watching a movie just a little while ago, and afterward he had to ruin it by throwing a fit b/c I wasn't ready to go to bed when he was. He does this All. The. Time.

JTIS...
I noticed that when my iPod is on FM shuffle that "Sara" comes up more times than any song in my collection, including live albums, greatest hits collections, studio albums, re-masters, demos, etc.
Weird.

Where I live we've been without power since Saturday night. No power, no hot water and no heat. Most everyone I know is in the same situation. I am using the computer of one of my work clients. Most of my clients have no pwer. Everyone is bored to tears. I have read and played cards more than ever before and we're supposed to be without power until the weekend. This is wayyyyyyy worse than the dmages caused by the tornado back in June.

I'm especially glad your house has power because your mom is still recouperating from surgery. We haven't heard any reports from the Connecticut Ledgies. They have it just as bad as we do.

Why does power on the East Coast seem to go out at the drop of a hat? Is it just because they get snow/ice so regularly? I can't tell you the last time we had a power outage that lasted more than 15 seconds. Of course, in Texas it only rains twice a year and if we get 2 inches of show, the entire city shuts down.

I know what you mean. When I lived in Phoenix, Az. I hardly ever lost power but here I seem to lose it for every tom dick and hairy storm that passes through.
On another note I have been thinking about your recent posts about your life and your moments with the boyfriend and it makes me wonder if I am better off alone or not.
