I know you're not saying anything rude... I was addressing the commentary in this thread as a whole :wavey:.

I just think it's in poor taste to comment on anybody's weight. I've swung back and forth between chunky and anorexic my whole life... I know what it's like. People don't need commentary on their weight, trust me, we all know exactly what we look like vs what we WANT to look like. I critique lots of things when it comes to appearance: clothing, hair, etc... but you'll never, ever hear me criticize someone for weighing too little or too much. That's below the belt, and very, very bad karma.

I'm confused. Who commented on who's weight? I read back & I still can't find it.

And I'm sorry I missed all this last night. DavidMN, were you in some sort of parallel universe where you were reading a different Ledge & thought someone made fun of your being fat? Seriously, wtf was that all about? I get that you were upset about your old BF, but I still don't see a connection?

eh, I think crisis averted... no big deal anymore?

You're probably right. I personally don't care about all of this, but it was seriously getting ridiculous, and that's a pitty, 'cause I love The Ledge...but just, not that way.

Some people were basically insinuating that Sara Fleetwood should pass her hamburger to Sharon Celani... I thought it was in poor taste.

So this big debate was over something nobody actually said?

I guess I could kinda sorta see how one might assume that was what 1 poster meant. But it's a pretty big assumption & puts words in people's mouths that they did not actually say.

What was said about Sara Fleetwood, and my defense of her had nothing to do with the whole meltdown in this thread. That was just someone feeling they needed the spotlight turned on them for some attention and sympathy. The way people put on kid gloves for a 40 year old poster just disgusts me, and lets this person get away with all this garbage because they feel bad for them . By allowing this poster to continue acting this way again and again, this board is just reinforcing that person's behavior. The way that person even said in one of their posts "I'm going to get banned this time" is proof positive they knew exactly what they were doing, and they knew it was out of line.

Come on... he was having a bad day, he overreacted to something, he regretted it, he owned it and he apologized. It's a shame that you were hit with the shrapnel, but I suppose you just happened to end up in the cross-hairs at that moment. Just like Mother Mary would say, "Let it be." :p

No, this isn't the first time he's done this to me. Not by a long shot. :wavey: He's done this to me multiple times on PM. I'm sick of it. The first couple of times I let it go, but I'm DONE. Especially when I found out this particular poster was sending the exact same screaming and yelling accusatory (and unfounded) PMs to the multiple people. This person just wants attention. Just like the time he claimed to have gotten a nasty PM calling him various names, yet wouldn't provide the proof or forward the message to a moderator. He's just stirring up **** for attention. I understand every one of us has bad days. We all have our own insecurities. But to lash out repeatedly at board members and harass them is completely out of line, and this person should be held accountable.

I know that - I wasn't asking about the meltdown. I'm saying that I can't find where anyone called Sara Fleetwood fat or anything like that. Where is it? Who said it? Was it in a different thread? Via PM?

Re: the meltdown, there's a history of this from DavidMn- he freaks out on people, then blows it off & makes excuses & blames his "issues" and expects everyone to understand, forgive & forget. Some do, some don't. But he's always been treated differently than others here - not getting banned (or getting strikes, back in the day) for personal attacks, insults, etc. It's been happening for years. YEARS. It won't change. I just try to ignore it all at this point, it's not worth the time & energy to care.

Post #925 in this thread says "Sara should hang out with Sharon," which received snickering responses. In itself that post doesn't mean a thing, but people have repeatedly on here and in chat talked about how Sharon should eat a cheeseburger. The inference was there. I really don't care to nitpick this any further. :xoxo:

Haha, thank you! The second one there is one of my summer cloches from Nine West. Nine West tends to make the hats what are badass on my head.

The first one is a vintage wool cloche I wear to death in winter, usually with one of several feathers stuck in the band.

I looooove hats. I wish more people would wear them.

I know, right? Why is everyone so pretty? Surely that can't be normal.

Glad someone else appreciates the awesome that is my gas mask, though! When it was given to me, I walked around wearing it for hours, like, "I think I'll do the dishes. In my gas mask. After which I'll watch TV. In my gas mask. And then I'll go to bed. NOT in my gas mask, because it's hard to breathe in here."

Makes doing dishes more interesting.

I'm not sure it's an interesting story. Also, it wasn't so much given to me. It's more like I, y'know, stole it off a small child.

But yeah - the gas mask belonged to my friend's ex-husband, who used it while in Iraq. He brought it home with him, and then gave it to my son while my son was over hanging out with his nephew one day.

Asher brought it into the house, and I said, "What have you got there?" and he held it up, and I said, "GIVE ME THAT," and he said, "No, it's mine," and I said, "NO, IT'S MINE," and he said, "NO, JOSH GAVE IT TO ME," and I said, "THAT WAS NICE OF HIM BUT NOW YOU'RE GIVING IT TO ME," and then I took it because, though the boy is getting tall, I am still taller.

And, I mean, really - he has ME for a mother. He should totally know by now that you can't bring badass stuff like that into the house and not expect me to pounce on it.

Eventually, though, we reached a shared custody agreement and the gas mask divides its time between me & the TV and Asher & the NERF wars in the backyard.

It is much harder to breathe properly in those things than you would think. You have to really concentrate on it. Or I do, anyway. Maybe I'm just not good at breathing.

Also, if you like my hair, you may have it. It's currently many unnatural colors and it's ALWYAS hard to manage, but I hope you two will be very happy together, cos f*ck knows I can't do a damn thing with it.

Can't have the hat, though. I love that hat. :D

My picture has not yet come back from the airbrushers.

You'd better get on them about that.

Aww, y'all. My gas mask brings all the Ledgies to the yard!

While the gas mask is not my most prized possession (that would be the Velvet Jesus con 18 Wheeler what I got from the Professional Mexican Velvet Elvis Artists of Tijuana, Mexico, of course), it's pretty close. I usually keep it hung up on the wall next to the Zombie Defense Kit:

http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv335/nowgozombiego/zombiedefensekit.jpg

I dream of one day putting it on and barging into the ****kickiest of ****kicker bars, whereupon I will feed the jukebox a quarter, have it play the twangiest of twangy songs, and proceed to show off the industrial-est of industrial dance moves, much like this: Kriiiiiieeeeeg! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MByVLThpfDw)

I will do this for approximately 30 seconds, and then run like hell before someone beats the crap out of me. It's a small dream, I know, but one I hold dear.

Bonus first day of school pic of the Zomblets I found on the aforementioned external:

I totally want to do that (see previous post about ****kicker bar and sweet dance moves idea), but I need a wingman/woman, just in case. Because I am notoriously graceful and might need assistance.

And, of course, by graceful, I actually mean spazzy like Joe Cocker with a wooden leg.

LOL @ Lego star wars...me like

Some of my shirts are off limits, though, like my prized Sisters of Mercy shirt what says "utterly bastard groovy" on it, and this one, just because it's too cool to risk and I don't think the under 10 set would get it, anyway:

This was at my favorite frat's formal last night (after I had decided that it was hot as hell and there was no way I was walking around in a dress for another second. I do have on a one piece romper here though telling that is questionable.) Aaaah :) I wanted to get a Wild Heart similar to that tattooed on my chest somewhere, probably over my actual heart, ha. It wouldn't just be for Stevie although that song has been really meaningful to me recently. I don't know if I'll actually ever get it done though!

Yeah I bet it would! I've already got 2 tattoos, one on my foot and another on my hip so I'm prepared for the pain. People tend to say it hurts more on boney areas rather than more fleshy ones, but I don't think it's that much different in terms of pain even though the sensation is different.

This picture was taken in 2007 when I was 45 years old. That's me on the far right. My brother in the middle and my nephew on the left. I'm posting this pic for two reasons. One to ask you how old you think I really look and two for Miss Vicky who last night told me I looked like I have Down Syndrome which is exactly what my little nephew on the left has.

The foot is supposed to be the worst. I got one of mine pretty much directly on my hips and it hurt for about thirty seconds, that's it. And even then, it was TOTALLY bearable. My hip was a joke-- didn't hurt at all.

So if you can do the foot, your chest should be totally fine! :)

This first one is of me and some friends at a party I threw at my place a couple of weeks ago. I'm on the far right (Teen Wolf T-shirt!), sitting next to my older brother:

Now just me and my brother (cue all the girls/guys (?) ignoring me and saying how hot they think he is instead! Damn, that was annoying when I was at school... and man, I'm drunk in this one!
<a href="http://s632.photobucket.com/albums/uu43/Dodfather/?action=view&current=MeandGrahame.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu43/Dodfather/MeandGrahame.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

and this la one is an oldie, from me at a party a few years ago - oh dear!! You can't see but it's actually a Fleetwood Mac t-shirt that I'm wearing! That night got messy...

You could seriously hurt her! Are you nuts? Were you raised by wolves? I can't believe you would do that! Get her out of there right now! ...wait, lemme get a pic first."

Gorgeous pics, Dani!

I remember my senior portraits. I don't have any of them scanned anymore, sadly, but they involved me in a trash strewn alley, wearing a lot of fishnet and looking unamused.

Which is to say, y'know, reflective of real life.

That was back when my hair was so long, I could sit on it. I also got voted "best dressed," so I had extra pics in the yearbook. That was rather surreal, because I had just spent all of my high school career getting harassed on a daily basis (by students and faculty alike) for my keen fashion sense (right after Columbine was a particularly rough period). So then all of a sudden, my senior year, when I was "cool" and everyone wanted to hang out with me and know where I got my clothes, I was very much like, "Quoi?"

Kids, man. They creep me out.

I took full advantage of the "best dressed" photo shoot, though, and made it memorable for all involved.

I think we would've gotten along famously. Lawd, but I was all the time getting sent home for my clothes in high school, even when I was not breaking any dress-code rules. Doucherockets.

But my high school persona was not much different than my current persona, though, I don't think. Of course, I have toned down my day-to-day wardrobe a bit, because now I'm old. Like, I swapped (most of) the chain-covered minis for pencil skirts that lace up the back with ribbon & D-rings. But fishnet & I are still good friends and corsets are still in regular rotation for special occasions.

Oh, and I did get over my teenaged self's worry about being too tall to wear heels! Now I live in heels. And I will loom over any dumb boys that are short & have a problem with that, Vulture Snoopy style, til they run away and cry.

I should like to read such a blog post. Let me know when you write it.

Nawww, you look pleased with yourself, and that makes you adorable, regardless of what you are wearing. Those are some badass hi-tops. Are they Vans?

Don't let Bret Michaels see your headband, though. He'll totally fight you for it, on account of he needs it to hold his weave in place, and you can't fight back, on account of he's all sick and junk. And because them lady jeans look like they might restrict mobility. ;)

I think people should be able to rock whatever clothing they want without fear of what other people might say or think. I don't dress to make other people happy. I dress to make me happy. As long as you like what you're wearing and you feel good about yourself, f*ck 'em. If you are secure and confident, then you will look awesome regardless of what you are wearing.

I did have my own fair share of fashion mishaps, though. Like, one time, I had this sort of clear plastic pair of fake Birkenstocks? And they were really comfy? But ugly? So I thought the thing to do to fix them was wear them over top of a pair of purple socks with neon green bats all over them? And I was really wrong?

Or all those times I spent an hour in the bathroom before school, trying desperately to make my hair look like Patricia Morrison's (http://www.gilesbowkett.com/images/sisters_of_mercy_floodland_pensive.jpg) but generally just coming out looking like Robert Smith on crack (http://www.higherpowermoment.com/gallery/robert_smith.jpg)?

Don't even get me started on trying to perfect the goth makeup, because that was just painful for a long time. Or all those years in the late 80s, when I tight-rolled my jeans and then proceeded to stack about 6 pairs of slouch socks in varying colors over top. And then did them in reverse color order again on the other leg. And had a giant collection of neon plastic t-shirt slides. To match my New Kids on the Block t-shirts and neon stirrup pants.

D'awww. Warm fuzzies!

Seriously, though - high school was pretty much torture for me. I'm a big girl - both tall and big-boneded. Even at my most athletic (I played volleyball for about 9 years), I was still big-boneded. I was far more interested in good music and reading books to even fake being concerned about the usual teenage drama llamas. There was just no way I was ever going to "fit," and I used to agonize over it. Then one day, I just decided to stop agonizing and keep doing my own thing and to hell with everyone else.

This did not always go over well, but I felt much better about myself.

Also, to keep from totally derailing this thread, here is a photo of me demonstrating to a friend how to Look Askance properly. This is not to be confused with Giving the Official Side-Eye, though, which is an entirely different animal.

I once lost one in a pile of cow sh*t  My best friend and I were trespassing on our favourite photography location (An old boarding school with some serious fire damage) and karma decided it wanted my shoe. I absolutley stank for the whole day yet I let it dry and brushed it off. That's a beauiful stain, I'm just too tight with money to fork out for another pair.
