In reading through most of these recent posts, I am almost ashamed to call myself associated with this board. I have never heard such a bunch of wah wah wah poor pitiful me complainers in my life. The members of this band are almost 70 years old or older. They owe us NOTHING. They have been out there for decades and all you can do is bitch and moan and make goat jokes about Stevie. And it is the same folks over and over who are negative. I think you need an attitude adjustment or maybe you just need to shut the hell up for once.
Go ahead...ban me from this board. Its not like anyone who has a positive outlook is welcome here anyway. :wavey:

I agree, johnl- I can't believe the sense of entitlement some people are expressing about a new FM album. And the negativity is so unnecessary. I know it's disappointing that it's been awhile since we heard anything official, but the simple fact is, FM lives in another world. They don't have to work, they don't monitor message boards, and they live life for themselves, not their fans, and that's the way it should be. I also know in the age of social media and the internet, we expect immediate gratification and daily updates, but FM has never been known to share things with their fans on Twitter, FB, etc like other bands or singers.

See that's the thing with this board. It's a free forum to express your opinion, make jokes, pass the time, add insight, positive or negative. You won't get banned for doing that.
You get banned when you start purposely causing conflict or ripping on other members. So you're here to stay like the rest of us.

it's interesting to watch how people align with whoever their favorite songwriter is in the band.
most Lindsey and Chris fans want new music, NOW! Lindsey and Christine have been very vocal about how happy they are with the new music they produced, how many songs they have, even giving us titles, and how much they want this new music to be released. and that they may need some clamor to get it out.
in contrast, most Stevie fans are going - leave the band alone, they need a break, why do they need to give us new music, album won't happen, they are old, no clamor please! which is in line with what Stevie has been mostly [not] expressing about new music.

I've been saying this 1000s posts ago in this very long thread. If they do an album .Thats great. If they dont .No problem with me.Maybe we can put this to bed until something legit happens with this project.I love how Dave S let us in on Stevie's projects. If Mac producers done the same without the sealed tight upper lips .This topic would be summed up and we know whats going on with out the fuss bucketing and on going dwelling about it.

DING DING DING!!!
You captured perfektly how I feel about the fanbases, too. Because we're all pretty certain that Stevie has been the holdout on a new album, so she's been getting raked across the coals for it. IF it's true, I say GOOD! It's about time that she was held responsible, rather than shrouded in fairy dust and unicorn farts!

I just want new music...)
Same here.
Nothing entitled about my expectation since the band promised this two years ago...and two years before that. Lindsey and Christine still want to create new music. They should just release what they have without waiting for Stevie. It's galling to be told this is a "profound new chapter" and then realize it's the same stale scenario. How are we, who have invested our time, money, and love in a band that disrespects us being entitled? Nonsense.
Christine expressed interest in doing a solo album before she rejoined. I'm particularly upset because that album would have been out by now and I know I would have gotten a lot of listening pleasure from it.
My only hope is that someone in or connected to the band is keeping up with this thread and reporting our dismay to them. It's our only hope of getting word to them that their core fans (of the whole band, not just Stevie) are counting on new music

Here's the deal, folks. This thread is about any and all information pertaining to a new FM album. This encompasses rumor, speculation, joy, AND lament. I've said this a dozen times in this thread: once hard proof of a new album surfaces, please do feel free to start a brand new thread. In the meantime (see what I did there? :o) it's best to view this thread as nothing more than a vehicle of speculation and venting.
For further clarification: Having a dissenting opinion on the Ledge has never gotten anyone banned. Neither has being overly critical of any given band member. Attacking fellow board members is what gets users into trouble. Lampooning the band members themselves? That's free reign.
Additionally, for those who do not care for the tone and/or content of this thread- by all means, do start a new thread which focuses solely on your love and appreciation of this current incarnation and chapter of Fleetwood Mac history. Since it wouldn't be germane to the topic, any dissent would be removed from the thread by the moderation team.

I can only assume something big is brewing just around the corner.
Lindsey in particular is not one to sit idle. If he knew for sure Stevie would play no part in new music until some point next year (or even never) then he'd surely be busy putting out his own music. Hell, he could have had several albums of solo material out over the past few years, even with all the FM touring. The fact he hasn't makes it clear for me he's been busy finishing off FM's new quadruple studio album.
I'd still guess Mirage>September, Tango>December, new album>early 2017

No, because there's no reason that fans can't be something other than fawning or appreciative. There's no one way, good, bad, right or wrong, to be a fan. In fact, even the definition of the word "fan" (fanatic) doesn't call for positive devotion. Unstinting adoration is not a requirement. You need only be zealous or obsessive. I think we qualify.

I don't feel like they owe me (us) a new

Well, yes. There's nothing to say somebody hasn't been working on Tango at the same time as Mirage. In fact, perhaps that's why the Mirage date was pushed back. Maybe working on Tango led to some changes to the Mirage set. I haven't kept up with what has been proposed to feature on Mirage but I was thinking Mirage and TITN might be quicker to bang out than Tusk as the original albums were single discs. Anyway, my hope is they'll go into the anniversary year with TITN somewhere already in the charts.

No they DO owe us because they said they would be recording an album before they went on their last tour. Pretty much they only reason to see them again was that they were going to make new music. I really feel they FAKED that they weren't anymore then an oldies act so that they could sell more tickets.

I'm feeling this way, too. There is new music waiting to be completed (the RS journalist described a couple of the tracks in the article), but I think the motive behind telling the public they were working on it was to make them seem less mercinary than they actually are. I fell hook line and sinker.

i give Lindsey and Christine way more credit than that. i think their motive was the same one as Mick's playboy interview - to get Nicks onboard with what they were doing.
now, what i do question is why they just don't release new music without her. it might be greed, or inertia, or there is something in the FM contracts giving her the power to stop the release.

You're right. I do think LB and CM in particular are creatively-inclined and eager to move forward. If what you say about Stevie possibly having power to stop an FM release if she isn't on it is true, then that makes her behavior all the more appalling. However, I think it's just the knowledge that if she isn't on it, it won't sell as much, and that, unfortunately, is a bottom-line consideration for this version of band.
But let's go with your theory (which is unfortunately quite possible). In the past, Christine once had a lot of power than she seems to have now. Her being gone for 16 years has changed the dynamic. Stevie wouldn't have nearly this much power to hold the band hostage had Christine never left.

I'd bet my right arm Stevie has no such power. A clause in an FM contract is pure speculation that makes it easier to continue blaming Stevie rather than admit the other four just don't have as much artistic integrity as some want them to. A simple statement of "We're going to spend the next 6 months recording and releasing the final Fleetwood Mac album" could have only two outcomes: either Stevie comes running with her tail between her legs not wanting to be left out, or she passes on the project and thanks her lucky stars she's not trapped in a studio with Lindsey.
There are no hostages, but there are some wimps.

If this is supposed to be such a "prolific " period in the bands history then how it it they they have been back together for more than two and a half years with not a note of new music released. When this group of people got together at the start of 1975 two and a half year later they had released two albums and gone from being a struggling former British blues band to scintillating stars that were enjoying both critical and commercial success..the later on an almost unprecedented scale .Now we are just getting cash grab tours featuring much of the aforementioned 40 year old albums.

All of this speculation has me wondering what will become of this music that is rotting on the vine. Will the band just dump it onto iTunes after a certain length of time, or will Lindsey & Chris commandeer their songs for solo albums?

I don't think there's a clause in the contract that keeps them from releasing music without Stevie. I don't even know why her people would want such a clause.
I mean, even if "Fleetwood Mac" is contractually defined somehow, they could still release music and call themselves something else. Doing that in itself would give the quartet's album more publicity than they would ordinarily get. If Mac Four had an album out, it would cause such a furor that everyone would listen and write about it just so they could talk about Stevie not being there. In that sense, the loss would be a gain.

At approximately 3:37 pm today I confirmed with
Barry that there is no such clause in their contracts.
I like the Mac Four, but if not that they could be
The Artists Formerly Known As Fleetwood Mac.
I'm pretty sure that title has been vacated recently.

So people think Stevie has a contract that would prevent the other band members from releasing an album under the name Fleetwood Mac? Really? That's the hold up, huh? Gee, I could have sworn the band released an album called Time without Stevie, Behind the Mask without Lindsay, and Say You Will without Christine. But suddenly, there's some nefarious contract preventing the good members of the band from releasing an album.

Thanks for this...the evil Stevie must be stopped and overcome. She is the one and only reason that there is no new music from Fleetwood Mac. The band is just furious at her because she demanded some time off. After all she has only been on the road or promoting new music for the last 15 years straight pretty much. They should just kick her out and move on. They owe her absolutely nothing. Good grief Charlie Brown!

[QUOTE=HomerMcvie;1187457]DING DING DING!!!
You captured perfektly how I feel about the fanbases, too. Because we're all pretty certain that Stevie has been the holdout on a new album, so she's been getting raked across the coals for it. IF it's true, I say GOOD! It's about time that she was held responsible, rather than shrouded in fairy dust and unicorn farts![/QUOTE
Does she not deserve some kind of break and time off? Good Lord...talk about showing who you do and DO NOT like in the band. These people all just got back together after a very long time without Christine. Honestly it would be laughable if they refuse to give Stevie some time to herself and try to force her into doing this quickly. It would be a double standard...I am sure that is something this board can relate to.

A voice of reason!! I appreciate it!!

Lots of us are venting our anger at the band for not rushing a new album without giving them their space and time to relax after one of their most biggest world tours ever. We keep saying the same things over and over. So here I go
The talk about new recordings before the tour were true but they were highly overblown to make it sound more like the band was doing more than just touring. There are probably some great demos between Christine and Lindsey. But the entire band has not contributed.
The band was just reuniting and talking 100% positive about all kinds of future plans.
Some believe some how there is an album out there that just needs Stevie's contribution and they are finished. FALSE
It would be a big mistake to rush into recording after such a long tour. Tensions would run high, their creativity would be marginalized, and the chances of touring afterwards would be slim.
Give the band the space they need. Fleetwood Mac does not do things on whim. Lindsey and Christine would never approve of a Fleetwood Mac album that is not up to their high standards.
I believe the longer the band takes to make the album after taking time off will vastly improve the chances of a killer album and final tour.
Fleetwood Mac has always taken time off touring and take their time with recording.
I suggest giving this thread a rest for at least 4 months. Maybe then there will be some news. Christine, Lindsey and Mick have said there WILL be a new album and last tour. NO ONE has any indication this will not happen and they are lying. Give it a rest.

The thing is, she's only dedicated about 6 of the past 16 years to Fleetwood Mac. 2000-2001 was spent recording and touring behind Trouble in Shangri-La. 2006 was spent touring with Tom Petty (for free!). 2008 was a solo tour. 2010-2011 was recording and touring for In Your Dreams.
By comparison, she spent 2002-2005 recording & touring behind Say You Will. 2009 was the Unleashed tour. 2013-2015 were the nonstop oldies tours.
So in reality, she's had 2007, 2012, & 2016 off. And big chunks of those other years were also spent fallow as she was doing only summer tours. Yes, for a senior woman she's kept busy. But it's not like she's sacrificed this century to Fleetwood Mac, either.

2012 was an eventful stevie year in my eyes. Probably best stevie, solo concert. I 've ever seen and I've been to 5 all on different tours. So I personally wouldn't have wanted her to spend that year any differently. And she was touring behind her very good new album. And she played 7 new songs a the highlights of the show plus probably the best edge of 17 I've ever seen. Definitely feel that was a worthwhile year. In fact I'd say stevie made great use of 2010 til 2012 ESPECIALLY since if those Rumpus were true of that proposed summer 2010 Eagles F Mac tour were what was being pushed for. (Does anyone else remember that?)
Now the biggest ever waste of a year was 2013! Why couldn't christine had come back a year earlier. There wasn't one thing about that 2013 tour that will make it even remotely significant as a fleetwood Mac tour. What I mean by that is and im strictly talking about just me, in literally every other tour you could point to something unique from at least one song that made that tour worthwhile. Even the almost equally as pointless 2009 Unleashed tour had the best Lindsey version of oh well, and Storms which I know might seem crazy to some but storms was performed well enouh to make that whole tour seem worth it. 2013s tour only selling point was the return of sisters of the moon, which was done much better one year later with the big christine is back tour.without you was never a favorite as a buckinghamnicks song so it sure as he'll sucked live to years later as the same song I always disliked but in their older voices! I huées the argument some people could say is "at least that year gave us new songs" well they were a sad excuse for new songs, especially considering how great I cosider all the songs on both stevie and Lindseys last 2 solo albums. I'm so glad christine is involved in this next project .,stevie and Lindsey alone do not bring out the best on each other any more. And I will proactively add in case some are thinking"what do you expect, stevie just lazily recorded a 40 year old song and she didn't spend enough time working on the song" well on the following year she recorded 16 old songs in about 6 weeks and for the most part I think those turned out incredible. 4 or 5 of my favorite stevie songs now.

Agreed. 2013 was a complete waste of time. Sisters of the Moon was exciting for about 3.5 seconds. That arrangement was a nightmare. I will say, I do like "Sad Angel" and it was cool to hear live.

The problem is that enormous tour could have been shelved until AFTER the band completed new music and/or have been cut in half so they could rest up and record music. As has been said a gazillion times on this thread, they can't act like they're 40 anymore. All of them are over 65 and one of them has suffered a recent bout of cancer. If the band is going to sell itself as entering a new profound chapter then they should stop rehashing old **** we've heard countless times, prioritize their time, give their fans a clear timeline for the new album, and stop playing these games with each other and with their fans. Give us new music. That's all, everything else is bs. Yeah, I'm bitter. I wasn't until I realized the new music we were promised has been shelved until further notice--which could be never.

But let's reframe that with the entire picture and mention that it's not like Fleetwood Mac was slaving away in the studio those years while Stevie was doing her solo stuff. In that sense, she wasn't sacrificing this century to Fleetwood Mac because she wasn't being asked to work for them at those moments. Lindsey even specifically asked for a few years off to do his solo work so he could return to FM revitalized.
In the end, all three main songwriters have taken breaks from FM and personally, I support it if it means that they will return refreshed and recharged. And yes, it is a balancing act with their advanced ages but it doesn't change the fact that they know themselves well by now and if they forced the issue like someone said and returned to the studio immediately to churn out the album we really risk either getting a subpar album or no album at all which of course would be fodder for more bitching which may actually be what some folks truly want anyway once the denial train reaches its destination :xoxo:

I think Facebook and the like took a decent portion of Ledge comments/members away from the Ledge.
I belong to a couple of FM Facebook groups...and most of the members of those, were at one time, Ledge members. Actually, most of them still are! But they just no longer come here. And I think that's for a variety of reasons.
Years ago, when the Ledge(IMO-and I mean this in a social sense) was at it's height(like 2003-05), a fairly large group of us bonded. And then there was an incident or two here that come to mind, where many were banned from the site(even if only for less than a day, as it would play out - by a power hungry mod! lol), BUT someone went off and started a private forum, and we formed our own private groups. Several groups actually, most of which eventually imploded, as far as I know. But most never returned here afterwards.
But I have about 10 FM friends(in real life) that I met here on the Ledge, and we stay in contact, and visit each other a few times a year for FM parties. I love the Ledge!

I've watched this thread unfold but so far haven't commented but wanted to point out what is happening with older artists new music out there, and it's not good. First with the exception of satellite radio, none of this wonderful new music is getting played, and while this is not new, it's getting worse now. Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, a 2010 Peter Frampton album even David Bowie's last album great stuff, none of it made it even close to mainstream radio. Concerts are a whole other deal and I saw this first hand on Wednesday at an amazing Don Henley concert here in BC. A couple of "die-hards" starting yelling out for Hotel California before he even got started and practically booed him when he said he planned on playing music from his (wonderfully performed) new album. He handled it with humour and grace, but I was sure embarrassed by those idiot comments and if all they want to hear is one or two of the great old tracks, then why waste their time going to a show. So really why would Fleetwood Mac compromise their "cash cow oldies tours" by daring to be creative with new music when they will most likely hear stupid fans poo pooing their new stuff as the classy and uber talented Mr Henley had to endure and will likely endure during the rest of his tour? I really would like to see a new album but can hardly fault them for shelving it if this is the way the public and radio treats new music from older artists.

I agree 100 percent. You got a big point there.I've been saying that on here for ages.Radio dont care about any older artists and bands. If I was an artist .I would just tour and hell with the new crap because radio sucks and discriminates plus it dont care about the establish artists and bands.Luckily we got to get SYW played the sheet out of when it was released.I did not even hear a peep out the radio with Stevie's last two outings and they got ignored .I do agree that Sat radio and some college stations play the new stuff on the radio and some online station do too.
The only way to get older artist in the mainstream is they got to work with some young artists like when Lady Gaga with Tony Bennett.Stevie had a chance with Lady A and Charles but it was ignored by country radio PD's and jocks.Plus corrupt corporate radio sucks and does not help the situation.

all great points, and exactly what's been happening.
which is why i'm so surprised when some fans keep bringing up how bad it will be *if* new FM album is commercial flop. we know it will be, from everything that you also so nicely listed! and i know that at least some band members know that too.
why would they compose and release new music?? for the same reason Bowie, and Springsteen, and Henley and others you listed do! because they are artists and that's their way of expressing themselves.
not for the money for sure, that's what their tours are for. they are among the lucky ones - legendary band that can sell arenas and make tons of money, instead of playing fairs like some less lucky ones do these days.

And it's not as if we're foolish enough to think they would play many songs from the new album in concert. Mick has told us many times that they learned that lesson 40 years ago. We wouldn't expect more than 3 new songs from them. After that they can continue with their oldies act and the casual fans will only be slightly inconvenienced by having to endure 4 minutes of something other than Dreams or GYOW.
But we will have new music to play for ourselves at home. We will have proof that our favorite artists continued to grow creatively in their sixties and seventies and evidence that their vaunted chemistry continued (or didn't) well past Rumours.
We keep looking for the legacy to keep building, not to keep attending the Rumours memorial service.

Their shows are geared for the general concert goers and not for the diehard fans like us.They went to hear classics. If they only play for us.They will go broke in no time.if they went ahead and play the new songs or play some deep cuts. The normal concert goer will head to the restrooms or get a beer or two or just leave the venue.I was hoping for some new tunes on their last tour to just keep us fans primed for the new album but no go with it.

There's no reason why any new album wouldn't chart well. Its not going to sell heaps like in the past but they should have a soild top 10 album. Older artists still do well in the album charts even though they dont have hit singles.
Don't know what its like in the US but the following are all 'mature' acts that have had top ten albums since the start of this year in the UK;
Rick Astley, ELO (on the back of a Glastonbury performance), Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Beverley Knight, Dexy's Midnight Runners, ABC, Prince (obviously), Billy Ocean, Jean Micel Jarre, Aled Jones, Santana, Elvis. Half of those are compilation albums but half are new music.
If Rick Astley and Aled Jones can hit #1 and #3 respectively then I'm sure Fleetwood Mac could do just fine.

The reason why is these bands have a certain built fan base who will buy their album and albums sell very little these days so one week where all of your record buying fans who out and buy your album will put you near the top of the charts. And will almost certainly drop after that. I would absolutely expect a Fleetwood Mac album to chart in the top 5 if not number 1.

Yes, mind you, it would also depend on when they released an album. The run up to Christmas is a lucrative time so they'd shift more copies with a November/December release. However there's a lot more competition so it would struggle to chart so well.

I don't really care about new music during a tour. I'd almost rather hear them do songs they usually don't do, like Hold Me, Crystal, I Don't Want to Know, Warm Ways, Think About Me, and Brown Eyes.

I get you. Would I prefer a tour heavy loaded with deep cuts or a new album though?
Definitely got to go for the album as much as I'd love to hear certain songs played live.

Exactly! Give the serious fans that new music so we can continue to love them. Don't drive us away.
you can't tour with a NEW record and not play any of the new songs.
i can live without hearing Landslide and Don't Stop and GYOW
how are you going to introduce casual fans to their other (better/good) stuff if they never play it, ya know?
the cities they play twice ... one show be for the average joe fan
and the other show should be for the hardcore fan, slightly jazzed up.
even if that was 2 or 3 diff songs. that would be cool

That will never happen with this band. They never change the setlist except when they axe some tunes towards the end of the tour.

Hey, I'd be all for what you're saying. A set list that included five or six new songs would be fantastic, but it won't happen. If we got a new record and they didn't really play more than three songs from it on the tour, I'd be fine. (It would be like most of their tours since Mirage.) It's the new studio album I really want.

Wait didn't they play 6 new songs at the start of SYW tour?
Lindsey always seems to do 6 new songs when he tours a new album - people who actually saw all his solo tours can correct me but that pretty much seems to be the rule for him. It definitely was during Seeds tour and new songs were the highlight.

Why not sit at home in your best armchair, put a live CD on and close your eyes...for free.
When I go to a concert (and pay hundreds of dollars*) I want to see and hear something new. The last tour was lovely for Christine's presence but still stale. By the time I get to a new show I really hope I've had a chance to listen to a new album to death and know the words to some new music.

I read a few reviews that in other countries, they added Think About Me to the set shortly after the Tusk reissue was released. I would love to see a tour with 12 or more songs from Tusk, and the rerelease would have been the perfect time, since they were already touring.
I understand about hearing the same songs over and over again- Dreams, Rhiannon, and Gold Dust Woman especially because Stevie does them solo and with FM, but I know she's not gonna leave them out. I was happy that she added Seven Wonders this time.

I would be okay with other old songs that they haven't played live in a long time or ever. For example: That's Alright, Only Over You, Why, Over & Over, Save Me a Place, Walk a Thin Line, Frozen Love, just nothing written after 1987.

Unfortunately, it's this mindset that the band appears to pander to these days. I would pay good money to see this band perform new music. Instead, if I saw them again, I'd hear Dreams, Don't Stop, Big Love, and about fifteen other songs for the gazillionth time.

UTS was a fun concert for me, when it started before the album was out. Lindsey started talking about the album and I said, "but it's not out yet" and he laughed and repeated after me "but it's not out yet." But what a thrill to wach him perform sings I didn't yet know. It was like having gifts presented and unwrapped on stage.
And the long time people here who actually saw them perform GYOW and the like a year before the album came out witnessed history. Michele

beside Sad Angel which we got to hear for the first time ever live, before EP came out, we also experienced 6 new LB songs from Seeds album about 5 months before album came out' we never heard any of them before and didn't even know the titles like we did for Sad Angel. it's still so exciting, thinking back on it!

I can remember the buzz surrounding Sad Angel when it was first played live. I saw them do it live in 2013 and it went down really well with everyone. I would be slightly reluctant to see them again if it was just another greatest hits tour but if they included some new songs from an upcoming album like they did in 2013 then I would definitely see them for the third time in 4 years.

I think most of us here are in the same boat.We are tired of paying good money on inflated tix which should be only $79.00 max for greatest hits tours like other bands charge..I slacked down on their last tour to just two local shows .I usually hit 5 or 6 shows.

Honestly, I thought the 2013 setlist was pretty good, and the 2009 setlist was even better. Storms, Go Insane, then Without You, Sad Angel, Say Goodbye.. Just enough older stuff but also some interesting things too.
I think because Chris had been gone for so long, they sort of had to an oldies tour, just to get the gears going, and because Chris' songs hadn't been played live in almost 20 years. I suspect the next tour setlist is going to be far superior to the last one.

And you’re ready to jump into the studio as soon as this tour is over?
I would very much like to do that. I think the world should have one more kickass Fleetwood Mac record. This tour could go on for 135 shows, but when we come off the road we will be a finely tuned, well-rehearsed band, which is the best thing to be when you go into the studio because you’re already hot. Your chops are up, you’re singing great, you’ve been playing fantastic music for a year. And writing on the road is really fun. Not to mention that we already both have enough songs to do a record now. But it all depends on if we’re having fun and enjoying each other.

I love Stevie with everything I am but I absolutely cannot stand when she talks just for talking's sake and has no intention of backing up what she's dishing out. The last time she was in Super Creative Mode, like back in the early 2000's/late 90's, that's when a ton of good, new material came out.
She really needs someone to just put a boot against her ass and give her a good shove into the studio. I mean, look dear, I don't care whether your Mac material is new or rehashed demo's, I don't think the band or the fandom does either; Smile At You was a happy surprise despite the outcome being average and Running Through The Garden was an inspired choice and came out great. Just cobble something together and call it a day. You'll make buckets and buckets of cash regardless because let's face it, an EP may not sell but a five-piece Mac album? Cha-ching.

I think something is going on with Stevie, health wise. She hasn't been this quiet in ten years. She did the SOR event in April, but I can't imagine why she hasn't done a few shows for 24 Karat Gold. Would Waddy and Jimmy being on the road for the year really detract her from touring? She's Stevie Nicks...she can have the best session players in the world if she wants. She's had Carlos lead her band before. I just don't get it...something is up.

I think the fact that Stevie doesn't appear to be doing anything solo or with the Mac is quite telling. If Stevie had plans to rush back into her solo career, I think we would have heard about something by now. Maybe the whole group is just taking a year off and Stevie is taking the time to not only relax, but to write some NEW songs to bring into the studio this fall or early next year? None of us actually expect them to write the songs together and perhaps Stevie wants to leave some stuff in her vault for another 24KG.

But I don't think Stevie needs a year off to write songs. She wrote the new SYW songs over the Christmas holidays. I know that was more than 10 years ago and she's older, but still ....
Not only can she write in less time than that, but she talked of writing after her mother died and the drama of the tour itself, Christine's return, etc. must have all given her something to write about in these last years. I would imagine she has some draft songs that she could just polish and finalize, rather than just starting from scratch. I don't think writing is the reason for her silence.

That's looking at the glass half empty. I see this as the glass half full. She knows what a heavy lift is going to be coming up working on the Mac album for half a year and a huge final tour. If she WAS doing solo work, she would not be in the mental and physical shape to continue with the Mac. She is not committing to her solo work. That is a sign she is appreciating this rest before a huge 2 years coming up. If she was doing solo records and tours....that would not be a good sign for the Mac.
I do see the rest as telling.......the Mac album is going to start. YAY!

The fact that Stevie never went on a solo tour this year is some indication that perhaps Stevie has focused her sights more on Fleetwood Mac these days, at least for now. If I remember correctly Waddy was saying he would be going on the road with her earlier this year?

Apologies in advance for putting a downer on things. Mick is still saying a tour won't start until the latter part of 2017 ('we are going to have to work on young Stevie'). If Stevie was committed to Fleetwood Mac at the present time then surely she'd want to get the album out in early 2017 (or late 2016) and support it as soon as possible. The fact she doesn't seem to be interested for at least another year still makes me sceptical about her commitment to an album. The fact she isn't doing a solo tour leads me to think she's doing other things (working on a solo album for solo tour early 2017? writing a book?).
I just can't see that if she was doing anything remotely FM-related at the moment she would be so insistent on a tour being so late next year.

Hello all---
In an ideal world, all five of them would be together, on the same page, contributing their remarkable talents to a new album. The sum is always better than its parts, and the chemistry that these five people create when they are together is unique.
But it's clear that not everyone in the band has the same goals. And that's okay---it's a common thing, actually.
So, why do they bother waiting any more? As others have noted, they're not getting any younger. Let Stevie do her own thing and move on. She has earned her freedom and happiness. Like Christine, she can come back if/when she's ready.
For a long time, I blamed Stevie for not supporting a new album. But it's really not her fault. She feels the way she does, and she has every right to feel that way. It's the whole band's fault for not accepting that and moving forward.
Finish the tracks that Lindsey and Christine started, and release the album. If Warner Bros. or another label isn't interested in releasing it, then they should self-release it. They are rock hall of fame members and living legends. At the very least, they should be able to earn back the production costs by self-releasing the album and promoting it using their own mailing list and social media.
The days of making millions off record sales are through, anyway. The road is where they make their living. But self-releasing the new album is the key to being artists instead of an oldies jukebox.
I've seen the arguments about how "this band doesn't owe us anything." And on one hand, that's correct. You get what you pay for, and in the past, we've paid (let's face it...we've OVER-paid) for music and concert tickets and merchandise. We got something for our hard-earned dollars/pounds/etc.
But on the other hand, this is their job. So, in a way, they DO owe it to their fans AND TO THEMSELVES to remain creative. Lately, it seems like the only outlet for their creativity (not counting solo efforts, of course) is how creative they can get with trying to separate fans from their money. And, honestly, their not exactly blazing new trails in that area, either. Sell tickets 11 months ahead of time. Tour. Sell more tickets. Tour some more. It's not rocket science.
I love all kinds of music. I have a 160GB iPod Classic that is FULL of music by hundreds of artists. But I have never encountered a band that makes it SO HARD to love them. Being a Fleetwood Mac fan isn't a joy any more...it's work.
But it will all be worth it when we have that next (last?) studio album in our hands. Amen.

Actually, I almost think it would be cooler if they did a tour in 2017 to support the rerelease of Mirage, and play the check out of that album. Hold Me, Gypsy, Love in Store, Eyes of the World, Straight Back, Goodbye Angel, Smile at You, Wish You Were Here, and That's Alright would be great.

Very well said Matt- you wrote exactly what I've been feeling about FM!
Oh- and I love my iPod Classic too!

End this thread. Until we hear otherwise, the album has been shelved and they will do one more tour. Stevie does not want to work with Lindsey (in the studio) period. She can handle being on stage and faking a few moments (for the cash) but that's it. She's the one that shelved this thing and we all know it. All you have go do is go to Mick's restaurants FB page to see he is playing there this August and nothing is going on with the band.

I get it. Seriously though, these tracks are asking to be bootlegged. The full five-piece is good for touring but clearly...
I'd be happy with the Lindsey/Christine tracks being finished (John said he hadn't laid bass down) maybe one more tour with the new material and the Lindsey/Christine composed hits (take some backing vocalists along to complete The Chain) and call that it.
Yes they need to get in touch with reality and force Stevie to make a decision the way they did with Lindsey in '87. Matt Lucas is right - they need to stop pandering to Stevie and maybe I should retract my earlier remark that she needs to "either defecate or get off the karzi". If anyone needs to say that to her it's Mick.
Alternatively if John hasn't laid down his bass parts (and he has said that this could be his last tour) it could be released as a trio album. Buckingham/McVie/Fleetwood anyone? We all know Lindsey can play bass.

I wasn't talking about them going on as Fleetwood Mac, but Mick, Christine, and Lindsey could still go on in a different configuration with a different name.
As for the Eagles, Glen was a singer/songwriter and was responsible for a lot of their hits. That being said, I don't see why they couldn't go on with Jackson Browne (probably the only one who could credibly take over).

From everything I've ever read, it WAS Glenn's band. Even though Don became a bigger star, it was still Glenn's band. He was the leader, and they made the right decision in ending the brand.
I hope FM does the same,...you know, when Mick, John, or Chris dies...

the other 2 don't really need to rely on Fleetwood Mac to have a moderate cash flow / career , being in the band provides them with an excess of cash , the solo career provide them with a creative outlet, and a modest income
So if they can get one more cash grabbing tour out of Fleetwood mac with or with out new material , they should be fine

As far as Fleetwood Mac is concerned, you guys wrapped up a world tour – your first in more than a decade with Christine McVie back in the fold – a little less than a year ago. What does the future hold for the band?
Well, we're all dedicated to getting together about a year or so from now and going and doing another two years of touring all over the world, probably. And we also have a huge amount of recorded music. A huge amount. None of it's with Stevie. Or very little. Some of it is very, very old stuff that Lindsey maybe did with her years and years ago. We're not quite sure what will happen with it. But you know, doing this band is a huge investment. We're only off the road for less than a year, and when you add in the time it takes to put a tour together, do rehearsals, get it up and running, the whole thing, it's three years that you don't do anything else. And Stevie has her own life and career and I think … you know, she just doesn't want to spend the time right now. And we're quietly saddened about that but also I sort of understand.
Do you think there will be a new record?
I really don't know. The hope was that there was going to be. I do know that when Christine came back, she came back with a bag full of goods. She ****ing wrote up a storm. She and Lindsey could probably have a mighty strong duet album if they want. In truth I hope it will come to more than that.
So nothing's planned ... but it could happen.
There's always a "could happen" [laughs]. But one thing that's for sure — there really are dozens of songs. And they're really good. And so you think, "****, I don't want it to be that, decades later, when we're all pushing up daisies, someone hears this stuff and goes, 'Well, that should have come out!'" So we'll see.

Nailed it. I'm willing to bet THIS is the major issue here with her reluctance to record new songs with the band. Sad. I was really hoping for one last album with the "five".
On the other hand, maybe she's just holding out giving the band an answer until she feels she's properly "rested" from touring with them 24/7 for two years? Maybe she'll jump back into "recording mode" later on this year. Fingers crossed. I know she was unhappy with SYW and the EP so I can't imagine she's would leave those two albums as the last of her Fleetwood Mac legacy. She even mentioned at the School Of Rock benefit that she was planning to record with the band. As far as Mick's comments are concerned, it's probably just a question of "when" and not "if". Things are on "Stevie's time" now. I hate to admit it, but it's true...and it's a very selfish power play. Again...sad.

I just want to hear the new music Chris and Lindsey worked on. I don't care if it's called Fleetwood Mac or not. I don't care if it sells five copies. I just want to hear it. I've waited too long.
I'm so pissed about being had by the band. They really sold us a promise they didn't keep. Stevie was never fully on board with that promise but the remaining four (or three--John is typically silent on this issue) should just forge ahead and release it as a special one-off project.

The general public is not interested in new music. And it's not just FM. When older acts put out new albums, people ignore it and they don't want to hear it in concert. The general public will be going there to hear Dreams, Don't Stop and Go Your Own Way.
And no one is delusional, except the people who think record sales matter at this point. People who want an album want it for the music. They want to see where these people are creatively. They want them to stop standing on their laurels. They want something fresh to hold on after these guys start dying. We aren't clamoring for a new album for the money it will generate, not for the publicity.

astutely said!
that's why Christine's fans are the ones clamoring the most - it's obvious she's been bursting with creativity and they want to hear the results of it!
Lindsey's fans are right behind Christine's - he gave us all these great new songs in the recent years and we know he recorded tons more with FM - and we want those! we've been spoiled with new music from him in the last decade, and all that was suddenly brought to a screeching halt.
meanwhile, most [primarily] Stevie fans, especially the ones who don't care that much for the FM as a band, could not care less. they already know she's nowhere creatively.

If this album were to come out let's say in 2017, there could be a lot of press indicating it's the first release from THIS lineup in 30 Years. Buckingham McVie, 2020 (The Very Best of Album including Storytellers)
Stevie Nicks (40 Year Annivesary Complete Box Set), 2021
This would give opportunity to release all the music all the ways the band members want to.
And enough of the World Tours. One final World Tour followed by a Storytellers and small venues.

But the band forged ahead without her. If Stevie wants to live her life and move on, fine. But the remaining four need to do what the SAY YOU WILL LINEUP did and push forward. They won't because Stevie's still willing to tour with the band, and that means big money for all of them.
The difference between Christine quitting and Stevie not willing to record a new album is considerable. Christine drew a clear line and said "I'm done touring." She wanted to work with the band on SAY YOU WILL but the ultimatum she was given was clear: either tour with us or nothing at all. Why can't the band do the same thing here? Because 1) Mick has always valued touring and big money over anything else. 2) Stevie hasn't drawn a definite line. She's saying "not now." 3) The band's popularity since 1976 has always been its weapon; losing their most popular (if not musically essential) member frightens the bejesus out of them.

Well, maybe we're being too harsh. Christine has the right to go back to England and do gardening. It seems strange that after all those world tours, she suddenly developed a fear of flying, though. Plus, she could have recorded one more album with the band before she flew back to England. Instead, she did a world tour and then split.

I'm one of the Christine fans who are clamouring for new music. I heard two years ago that she and Lindsey were recording some great new songs, and I want to hear them. That doesn't seem unreasonable.
I am also in the "Stevie is overrated" camp. I like her songs, but not as much as I like Christine's and Lindsey's songs (and Bob's and Danny's and Peter's and Jeremy's songs, for that matter). I don't think her presence is essential to the artistic quality of a new album. Since every indication points to her being the one holding up a new album, it just makes sense for them to go ahead without her, just as they went ahead without Christine by making 'Say You Will.'
I also think Stevie is being unfair to the rest of the band by not stating her intentions. If she is willing to commit to recording with them in 2017, then she should say so, and they could wait for her. But if she's not willing to make that commitment, they should go ahead and finish up the album they've already partially recorded. Maybe this would actually be a huge relief to Stevie, who apparently really hates being in the studio with Lindsey, according to what people are saying in this thread.

I suspect you are just trolling, but nevertheless, Christine was never against making new music with the band. She was tired of touring-- living out of a suitcase, killing time during the day before shows when if you were home you could be with family, working on your garden, cooking-- you know, doing real life stuff. Touring requires you to have no life other than the band with lots of boring time in between. I don't blame her. And she developed a fear of flying which seems to affect at least some member of almost every band. You fly enough you see enough close calls. Or you figure you're tempting the odds. whatever. But she never, ever, said she wouldn't make new music. She was hoping to work on SYW. It was the BAND that said nope, if'n you're not gonna tour, no-go. (Maybe that was Lindsey being petulant since he didn't want to tour Tango and the band forced his hand).
The difference with Stevie is that she hasn't said she won't tour. Them's magic words for this band. They're all about the touring, more than the recording. If she said she would no longer tour, then they'd have to really make a choice. She says she doesn't want to record now, but is open to another tour in a year or so.... you bet they're gonna sit around and wait. It's been their choice, and they've made clear what their priorities are. ka-ching.

I cant tell if you are being sarcastic or not. Christine did not "suddenly" develop a fear of flying. She never liked it but was a trooper. In 1990 she mentioned how bad touring got for her where she stated she could not sleep in a different bed every night. She said she would drink a bottle of wine to go to sleep and that worked at night but then she was hung over during the day. When her father passed away she made sure all the dates were rescheduled and played. She was very honest with the band and never pulled drama. She said she would no longer tour with the band but STILL went into the studio to record an album without BOTH Lindsey and Stevie. It would have been too easy to walk away from the band at that time.
Christine has always been good with her money. She does not need the money. She was depressed living in exile away from civilization. After over a decade she finally realized what she missed. I would imagine she did not even make a dime on her 1984 solo tour. She had to pay for travel and hotel for everyone, pay the band, and pay the Baxter Robinson Band too. She was a trooper and played on. Christine loves her craft.

Hi Michele,
If this album were to come out let's say in 2017, there could be a lot of press indicating it's the first release from THIS lineup in 30 Years. I don't see how that wouldn't get the die hards and the casual fans excited. I recall that Eagles album several years back that was pretty popular and may have been a Walmart exclusive.
Times are certainly different now with streaming, but I could see them getting mentioned on all the entertainment sites and shows.
Yes, the diehards would be excited. That's certainly true. I don't think casual fans would care. It would get them mentioned on the entertainment sites and shows, but frankly, if they recorded without Stevie, that would get a lot of press too. They would say that the band that became famous for its interpersonal conflicts still has them and the press would eat up the friction. It seems like that's all they want to interview them about anyway, the disagreements. So, recording without Stevie and airing dirty laundry would be right up the media's alley.

Lindsey always talks about how he makes albums now just for the small amount of people that are interested. He hasn't really aimed for commercial success in a very long time.

This is exactly how I feel and think on the matter. Thanks for saying it so clearly.

Mick sure didn't seem to know what was going on. Wants an album but doesn't know if there will be one, specifically putting the blame on Stevie, and hopes the music they've worked on comes out before they're dead and gone.

Or he knows exactly what is going on and used the Rolling Stone interview to put pressure on Stevie to get on board with a new album.

Wouldn't it be nice to have an album that didn't involve somebody being pressured into it? I'd love a new album, but only one that everyone was there willingly to make. If Stevie caves and her parts are phoned in, we will all be able to tell and be disappointed by the end result. I think John said it best in Destiny Rules about Chris "It would be a shame for her to be here if she really didn't want to be here"
This isn't a group that should be stuck in a room for a year making an album, that doesn't bode well for them anymore. I wish they would consider working in small chunks, do a second EP with two of Stevie's songs and two of Christine's. Release it, come back in 6-8months and work on another EP with Lindsey's material etc.

Don't let Mick fool you...He knows EXACTALY what's going on...He also knows where Stevie stands in terms of recording with Lindsey...Perhaps Stevie told Mick after SYW that she's done and will NEVER record with FM again unless it's done her way and with the producer of her choice...
Mick is also full of crap...FM can put out an album anytime they choose, granted it might not be the record they want to make but what is stopping them besides greed and big egos...

People release just singles these days. Chris and Lindsey could even do just one song and put it out. I mean, come on.
The full band thing sure, can be done anytime, but the point is there was momentum over Chris' return, there was a swell of media and fan (casual fans, hardcore fans are always interested) interest and there was a nice wave of attention they could have ridden that would have pushed up sales to some extent. No, never to the platinum or even gold status but nevertheless more than putting it out cold.
I'm sure Stevie traded her time off after the last 4-piece tour to go right back out with Chris, and she wants her time off now. I get it. But I can't help thinking of the Lindsey/Christine stuff as "stale" by now.
After reading through some of the latest posts under this headline...I have come to the conclusion, that,
Not only can't Stevie write a song anymore,....neither can Christine or Lindsey...
Because if they could they would have released SOMETHING.
However I still feel that 2017 is the year a "New" Album will be released.

In the first paragraph it's like you're just trying to insult them. "You can't do it anymore" But they aren't here to hear it.
And in the second one you're giving them an ultimatum "if you don't do it by next year then don't do it at all". Really though, you have no idea.

Of course they can write songs. It's just Stevie's reluctance to get involved with F Mac at present for whatever reason. I wish they'd just tell her to either commit or quit.

This thread was started in response to an article which quoted Stevie as saying something along the lines of "There will be a new Fleetwood Mac album. We have plenty of songs." (Sorry - can't be bothered searching for the article to find the exact quote)
Do we have enough new information now, for example the recent Rolling Stone interview with Mick, to prove the Stevie quote (above) to be a fabrication by the journalist who wrote that article?

My guess is 2020. Just like they always wait 3 years to tour, they also have a ritual of always waiting 4 years (after 13 years have passed) to release an album. That's been their practice since 1975.

13 years since their last studio album. That's kind of hard to fathom. A lot of wasted time there from a band perspective, but at least we've gotten numerous solo projects from Stevie and Lindsey along the way. The three writers are all guilty of "band neglect". Citing Lindsey bailing in '87, Christine going on a 16yr hiatus, or Stevie not wanting to get on board this time around to make a new record. I suppose we have to be grateful that they all just haven't ridden off into the sunset, never to be heard from again in any aspect. That being said, I'd really hope to hear one more studio recording of this very creative and intriguing "five people force". Pleeeease!

I agree with you that all three songwriters have neglected the band on some level, really, since the end of the Tusk tour. Once the solo projects began, it became very clear that the ambition for the band died amongst the songwriters (not so much with John/Mick...especially Mick).
My theory has always been that what happened to the five individuals between 1975-1980 was so massive and personally draining that there was never going to be any potential for the Rumours line-up of Fleetwood Mac to be a band that continued to regularly put out new music and collaborate on a regular basis beyond their "peak". Too much emotional baggage, bad memories of the extreme partying/substance abuse, and just "too much" of each other due to the demands of suddenly being the biggest band in the world. The trilogy of Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, and Tusk is an incredible feat within the rock world, as is the fact that five such strong, sophisticated, and gifted musicians came together at the right time to form the lineup. I think that everything since then has been, on some level, attempting to reclaim former glory without the drive and ambition that allowed for the band to have such a remarkable and era-defining five years. Think about it, if the creative and positive energy was enough to draw all members to return to the band time and again, I doubt Lindsey would have ever left in '87, or that Christine would have left after The Dance. It is human nature to return to what makes you feel good and energized (whether it is in fact productive or not) and it is also human nature to try to avoid what makes you feel disappointed and to run away from failure.
As much as anybody, I would love a new album from the group. My hope is that they will in fact come to the realization that as a five-piece they have had a remarkable creative output (that is when all involved have the energy and will to prove themselves). I give Lindsey/Christine/John/Mick credit for attempting to begin this process. However, I would not be surprised if a tour is all we get. These are five individuals who quite clearly have grown apart form each other and, despite a fantastically successful reunion tour, will most likely go out at as a band that was able to (admirably, I might add) maintain musical relevancy based on an outstanding run of albums and songs during those glorious five years.
That's my opinion, anyway.

This is a very astute analysis .For that five years Fleetwood Mac was to me like what the Beatles must have been for people who came of age in the 1960s. Sadly now the only thing that seems to make Fleetwood Mac feel good and energized is making money ..lots of it.

Well, she has three solo albums. The latest from a desire to keep writing. It may not be ideal of her wants, but she's still an artist. And artists are better remembered when they produce.

Spot on. Very logical way to put it. More than likely the reason Stevie is reluctant to go back in to the studio with FM as well. Perhaps she feels the last batch of songs recorded on SYW didn't turn out quite like she envisioned them or she just doesn't have any creative energy working with Lindsey. If it were up to me I'd let Stevie nearly complete her songs outside the FM recording studio, bring them in at the last stages, and let FM add the finishing touches under the guidance of an outside producer.

I sense a tad bit of bias there. I don't blame her either, but you can't deny it pulled the rug out from what could have been some very creative output from the band. What would they have done after their surge in popularity from the enormous success of The Dance if Christine had stayed?!

But she can negotiate on producers or production issues, rather than not participate at all. Lindsey has been talking about bringing an outside producer into the mix for ages, to show that his need to control the reins shouldn't be a barrier to new music any longer. He was even trying to do that with the EP.
Now that Christine is there and joyfully proffered her songs to him that gave him even more of an outlet as an producer and less of a reason to try to monopolize Stevie's songs. Stevie can set the terms for joining in on a new album, if there are any terms that existing in the world that could induce her. I don't think it's fear of the production results.
Moreover, the final output would be different with Christine there than it was with Stevie and Lindsey alone, so disappointment in SYW can hardly be the justification for her position now. The entity that is here now is a different creature than the quartet of 2003, musically and emotionally. Christine not only changes the sound of FM, but she changes (and often deflects) the tensions in the studio. Her presence gives rise to a different dynamic.

That being said, it makes you wonder why she isn't there. The only other plausible answers in my opinion would be that she needs a break, a break from FM, or she wants to put her creative efforts elsewhere. I really think this is it. I think she wants some time out of the constant public eye where she can do her own thing, whatever that is-- family, friends, time in her little trailer house in Malibu, whatever..-- eat what she wants, not be always traveling. I remember that interview where she showed the reporter her fridge full of veggies and her nighttime treat was a thing of yogurt. She feels she has to maintain a certain image in public and keep the weight off, do a million interviews, fly from place to place...a lot of work. Your day is managed for you and you're told where to go and when. I think she just wants some personal time off and freedom to do whatever she wants on a given day. Christine had that for years, to the point where she finally got bored and wanted to get back to a busy work schedule. I think Stevie wants some down time and some time away from band politics and all the rest of it. As a fan it makes me nuts, but I get it.

Hopefully Lindsey tours now too. You couldn't pay me to see Stevie solo live

i REALLY hope so! last few times when she toured instead of doing FM stuff he always ended up releasing new music and going on tours. hope history repeats itself!!
also, SN is touring weirdly large arenas for what she can usually sell. and even more strangely, the Pretenders are opening for her and not the other way around?
if she somehow manages to populate these arenas, maybe she'll quit FM since she wouldn't need them anymore to play arenas / make tons of money? and then they can release that album finally!! :wavey:

Stevie has sold more albums as a solo act then the Pretenders.

If fleetwood Mac goes out in shambles like this then honestly it's just very fitting and it almost just seems right

She can do whatever she wants. But the disrespect to her lifelong friend Christine, who whants a ****ing Mac-album out, is unforgivable.

Stevie isn't disrespecting Christine any more than Christine was disrespecting Stevie when she decided to take leave of the band for all of those years. Christine disappeared into the English countryside and did what SHE wanted to do. Stevie has a right to do what she wants, plain and simple. Christine made it plain that she is not a great friend to Stevie. Didn't she say in some interview that she didn't even talk to her during that time away? Yeah, some GREAT friend she was.........but that probably will be blamed on Stevie as well. I mean, she's the epitome of evil, right? I've said it before and I'll say it again, these people (ALL OF THEM) owe us nothing! We've seen great shows and gotten wonderful music over the years. So what, if she's decided to tour solo and focus on herself for a while? Mick's doing the same thing and everyone isn't baby crying over that! I seriously hope Lindsey decides to do the same thing and tour solo. I'm definitely going to see Stevie and it would be awesome to see him as well.

Imagine Linds filling those arenas on a solo tour? LOL!

From her comments in her new NYT interview it seems like she's sticking to the whole "3 years" apart thing... it's been the better part of a year and she says FM won't be doing anything together for another 2 years. Seems like she's treating it like business as usual, that 3 years now is the same as 3 years was a decade ago..... except of course, it's not. Every year they push things off now, the risk of something bad happening, or one of the 5 not being there when they reconvene goes up exponentially. She's in denial.

She's not filling arenas. Maybe with the help of Pretenders she'll come close...

I'm really depressed about everything that seems to be coming from Stevie. There doesn't now seem any chance for the 'new' FM album any time soon. Damn. Damn. Damn. Sh!t. Damn. Bugger.
In some small way I can get Stevie's 2 years on, 2 years off thing. I think things are different though with next year being the anniversary year. It's the year I could never envisage the band reaching (all alive and capable of playing together as a band). 2017 always looked to be just a bit too far off. And now we are here I really thought there'd be something big to mark the event.
50 years of Fleetwood Mac, 40 years of Rumours, 30 years of TITN, 20 years of The Dance...it's all going to pass as a damp squib.
Damn. Sh!t. Double-damn. Aaaargggghhhhhhhhh.
Is it time to rename this bloody thread yet?

To say I am completely disgusted and fully disenchanted is an understatement. Stevie was once (long ago) the only member of this band I cared about. After this latest development, I'm never again purchasing anything that could route money into her bank account. I'm done. I'm out.

Its basically just a two month tour. That is not too much to ask. For Gods sakes Lindsey and Chris left the band for years. Let her have her moment to promote her album.

“I just woke up one morning and said I have two years off before Fleetwood Mac comes knocking on my door [for another tour],”
She's not gonna do a FM album.
She's not gonna do anything FM-related until the back end of 2017.
What annoys me is how dismissive and really quite rude towards FM she comes across in that interview she gave. There's just no need for it.

That is complete rubbish. When Christine quit the band, she was honest with everyone. She quit, fair and square. There was absolutely no disrespect involved.
What is going on now is that Stevie is not being honest with the band. She is keeping them hanging. Of course she has a right to do what she wants, but she is totally disrespecting the rest of Fleetwood Mac by not making her intentions clear. She isn't saying whether she's all in for a new album, or not. They (mistakenly) think a new album would benefit from her participation, so she gets to pull their string as much as she wants.
So she's doing a solo tour now. I wish the rest of the band would interpret that as Stevie saying she's not interested in Fleetwood Mac, and proceed without her.

She has a new album out?
I mean, 24 Kara"k" Gold is 2 years old, why would she promote it now?
So she would rather do a double ticket with The Pretenders than to tour with FM. So much about her bragging about being happy that Christine is back and her getting along better with Lindsey and about doing a new album with FM.
So during tour-promotion she will tell us how much she enjoys her freedom and the powerful creative experience after the horrible last tour with FM.
I guess that was it for Fleetwood Mac. Lindsey and Christine are probably livid and Stevie will not dare to have a confrontation with them. That means she won't ever go to a studio with them.
With all due respect: What a b/w/itch.

She didn't get to tour for 24k Gold because of Fleetwood Mac. She toured for two years with them. Give it up!

Two months? Whoopie! Geesh! It's not the lenghts, it's the lack of respect for Christines and Lindseys creativity, the complete disregard of the FM fans who really want a new album. And for what? To tour with The Pretenders, as a package deal, promoting a 2 years old album - that are just awul career decisions, even for her.

Not quite. In the NY Times Article Stevie says she isn't going back to FM for 2 years, and then specifically states it'll be for a tour. In other words, she confirmed the Mac album Lindsey, Chris, Mick, and John started is dead, and there are no plans to resurrect it.
