I really think it does look like her.. She certainly doesn't look 12.. But she does look airbrushed and I think I just like it.. She's sexy as lol

(on the horse ) plus both the horse's ears should have been pointing forward. I don't like the chain under his lip (which is why it may be droopy) but that is usually used for better control of the horse. Plus his body is all distorted. His right side is all lumpy and his left side looks like he's got a hay belly (hanging low and pretruding). The size of the horse in proportion to Stevie looks right. Seriously they should have done some photoshopping to the horse Even the animals aren't safe

Overall I love it. The whole enchanted, mystical forest thing suits Stevie, but it could have been so much better.
Leave it to you, Candian, for complaining about how the horse looks.

Nobody's calling the people who love it stupid or ignorant or saying that they should shut up about how much they love it. Having an honest opinion about not liking something does not make someone a negative person or a complainer.

There have been several posts from those who love the album cover saying that those who don't are "haters" and could never be satisfied. This is a facile stance to take -- and simply not true.

I, for one, have loved Stevie for decades, but find this cover too obvious and "on the nose" for a Stevie album.

It's one thing to play to your strengths and another to stay safely (perhaps even embarrassingly) within a box. Other "haters" don't like the photoshopping (I'm okay with it).

Either way, these are honest critiques of the photo and you aren't really addressing them when you (the general you), generalize.

Why the need for a non-stop positive-spin-fest here? If everyone loved everything, how boring would the thread and the site be?

I would like to, in time, learn to love this album photo. They all obviously worked long and hard on this album so I would NEVER show disrespect to Dave or her openly by writing to them. I can't believe some people would. And to others who have complained about Stevie's looks on Perez's site saying she hasn't looked "this good in ages" well, they obviously haven't kept up with her in the past 10-15 years because she's taken some damn good photos since and appeared in public still looking her beautiful self. These obviously aren't her hard core fans following her career so pay no attention to those people.

I mostly like the photo, and in general I love the cover - but like your point and agree wholeheartedly. I believe the great majority of us would become quicky bored with thread after thread of nothing but praise for Stevie, her album covers, songs, Lindsey - or anything else discussed on this forum. Dissenting opinions progress a conversation in multiple directions that might never be visited if everyone loved everything all the time.

In sum, I 'hate' when people complain about haters. Most of them, hypocritically enough, go on to complain about their own dislikes on other topics anyway.

I like that you said this, because it brings up what I do love about this new album cover.
I too, have loved Stevie for decades, but feel decidedly differently than you do. In that, while Stevie has been accused of being airy-fairy, out there in the clouds, you name it, all her career - she has never fully capitalized on that in a full throttle, in your face way until now! And I for one am standing up applauding Stevie, along with Dave, for bringing it all full circle - with no apology or ambiguity!

I'm reminded of when Stevie embarked on her solo career upon the making of Bella Donna, and one of Jimmy Iovines main objectives was to steer clear of the airy-fairy image that people had conjured up in their minds about Stevie Nicks. Well finally, here she is, in all her GLORY.

Agreed. Some people are going on about how it is so cliche and "nothing new" but I say, the reason Stevie has such a strong fanbase is because she has always stayed "Stevie Nicks". If Stevie were to turn around and be someone she wasn't, or even simply a lesser version of herself, it would take away from who she is. I don't want to see Stevie Nicks in a refined dress or a pant suit. I don't want to see just a close up shot of her face. It is the mystery, allure, witchy/gypsy/airy-fairy part of Stevie that captivated so many people and if she walks away from that she might as well walk away from her career. It is like telling Willie Nelson to cut his hair and shave, or telling George Straight to put up the wranglers and the cowboy hat, or telling Madonna to tone herself down and do a country album. Now is not the time for Stevie to reinvent herself, it is the time for her to embrace that airy-fairy side of her and show people that she is still Stevie Nicks, which it looks like Mama is doing!

Following trends is fake. She's not a follower. She is a leader. Madonna started that whole thing and was successful at taking trends from the Gay Clubs and introducing them into the mainstream. Then everyone thought you had to keep up with trends to remain relevant.

I would argue that cover is most definitly not cliche. She's not even looking at the camera and the look on her face is eerie. It's different. Sorta dark and dreamy and that same time. It's creative and the horse is unexpected, yet beautiful.

What do you want? a bland face pic, like 95% of other artists

Well, actually, if we're talking "marketing", having the text at the BOTTOM of the cover photo is a BIG faux pas. Granted, with record/CD shops disappearing faster than $3 a gallon gasoline, the " customer POV" is disappearing, too. But, being from the 60's generation of record store employees, it's been beaten into me that text should be at the top so customers can see who the album is by as they're looking through the racks/displays. Even albums with NO TEXT on the cover had stickers placed over the shrink wrap in either the upper left or upper right corner.
