and I expect extraordinary clothing from Stevie. Maybe I'll like this cover photo in time, but I'm never going to burden and complain to Dave Stewart about it. Come on people. |

Maybe Stevie should've stuck to the people who know her best and what to do with her, instead of putting herself in new hands of people taking the risk of getting it right, or not (as far as shooting her in photos). That's always the chance you take.

This album didn't automatically "WOW" a few of us at first sight, like past covers have. I was hoping for something though.

This album cover is near perfect.
And may go on to rival and best TISL once I see the whole packaging and other pictures. For me, this cover sets the tone, and its intention is clearly inspired by the centerpiece track off IYD, which I believe is "Moonlight - A Vampires Dream", inspired from Lady From The Mountains and New Moon of course. "So go with her. You know you want to! Well, you could use a dreamer...somewhere by your side.". Its pure fantasy! "Some call her strange lady from the mountains. And others say, "she not really real". And as Dave S. has mentioned, the horse is in the portrait because this is also a scene/dreamscape from the movie. Incidentally I can see this cover also being an excellent movie poster for Stevie's film. Just as the intention for RAL was Lily about to hit the stage, hence the movement in that awesomely stark full body cover shot. We know OSOTM's artwork was obviously inspired directly by "Alice" In Wonderland. And Trouble in Shangri-La was about Stevie finding her way back to the sea, away from all the craziness, back to her sanctuary and solitude. IYD is no different. This is why love Stevie, to take us away from reality for that moment in our lives. And all this hullabaloo about this photoshop business is just personal obsession. Everything and everyone is touched up these days, whether its a 15 year old magazine model or 62 yr. music icon. All this controversy makes me recall when OSOTM was released and everyone was screaming that Stevie's face was too air-brushed, and her eyes look bizarre or "strangely BRIGHT"! This cover for IYD works for me, and looks like Stevie (despite the little face smoothing) to my eyes. The one photo shop fail that is worth mentioning, was People Magazine's "Most Beautiful People" 1998 edition, where they made Stevie look like a wax doll! I could barley make out any semblance of Stevie in that picture. Now that was truly awful. In Your Dreams is near perfect.![]() Last edited by Christopher; 03-08-2011 at 03:21 PM.. |

Yes, everyone is touched up. But the point, yet again, is that she has been touched up beyond the point of recognition. And I am not buying the line about her face being distorted due to the light/halo/penumbra/artifact thingie.
It's all about restraint and about maintaining some semblance of reality. It's one thing to tweak things here and there... but here they basically gave her a new neck, a new face, new shoulders... it's more painting than photo.I think the perfect example of a recent Stevie shot that was moody/haunting/surreal and definitely touched up, but still actually looked like the subject, was the promo photo that shipped with The Soundstage Sessions. This is what they should have been going for... ![]() |

Pick it apart however you want, but I have to say, it exceeded my expectations, BIG TIME! My guess would be that this shot was taken during the video...note the white horse, yet again!!!!!!!
Just seeing Stevie outside, as oppose to another studio shot gives this a very warm feeling, LOVE IT!

IN YOUR DREAMS is what I'd dream up if given the opportunity to design a Stevie Nicks album cover. Perfect... because it is what the artist wants it to be...

that one would be too 'Symphonic metal-like'. I don't like the cover being used, but that's just a cherry on the pie to me, I'm more focused on the 'filling' myself (aka the music), as it everyone else.

I'm sorry, is this the "say only good things about Stevie's new abum cover" thread?
Or the "if you don't like the album cover, you're not allowed to say it" thread? Some of us don't like it. Big f*cking deal. ![]() |

No of course not. But it's tiring when you do take the time to post, it's negative in the way you convey your opinion.
