so I understand. but this is great album cover, right? look at it from a distance. its an excellent thumbnail. it will look goodnext to other bbig summer sellers like buble, swift, etc, in a target or best buy ad.
That is an excellent point. Most young people who buy it are going to find it on iTunes where they will only see the thumbnail, and I definitely think it catches attention.

It speaks volumes because it's representing her comeback, and it's also representing how impactful she still is on the music scene.
I totally agree. Look at her face. She is eerie. It's different than other artists. She is going all out to represent the album. I don't understand the complaints about the photoshop work. It's terrific work. All the young acts get photoshopped a ton. This is an art piece, more old school. It is a great cover.

P.S. Not just Lucinda or Emmylou, 90% of album covers are safe. It's a dying art.

I think a lot of time and thought went in to what this cover (like most of her covers) was going to be... and I expect it to be a grueling process for her to decide what the final cut as far as covers would be. I just wasn't expecting her and a horse as the cover. But like I said, hopefully it grows on me.

I get the joke easily.

Go Chiefs!!!

I'm always picky, but it's out of love. I think we just set the bar so high for her and she's only human really and we love her anyway no matter what.

I like it. As far as photoshop goes, I think it's something about her neck? Maybe the shadows on the sides were added? It almost makes her neck look too long and narrow.

Right. Part of her head was in the RAL hat, but I still think the remainder of her face was squat, squished, slightly distorted. And based on other pictures of her from the same era, there's no way I think that was her true waistline. I don't dislike that album cover though. I just think this one looks less artificial than that one, which is not a criticism of RAL.

Comparatively speaking, it just strikes me that the IYD picture is no more unusual than past covers. So, I don't think they suddenly got desperate due to Stevie's age.

While some of the type treatments on past covers has been sketchy, this one is right one the mark!
Yes! You're right on the mark with the classic 1960's style. I am a huge collector of record albums from that era, and this cover treatment screams of some of those classic traits. And, the horse just pushes it over the edge! Not sure if it's silly, ironic, iconic...but it makes me laugh!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the unprecedented difference in this album cover: it's the first one that features Stevie in a natural setting/background! For that reason alone, it sets a more earthy tone.

The type is just ok. I prefer having album titles cusmtomized graphically, a distinct font, if not a slightly more graphic formation. Here the title is presented in small plain type, absent of any character beyond that of a text message.

If there is ever going to be any comparison between this album and Bella Donna, it can start with the cover. The former has a bird, the latter has a horse.
