Well yeah, what do you think the whole Twilight and Glee thing is about. She ain't no dummy. She wants her legacy to live on.

I hope you're right, that that's what they were trying to convey versus it just being overdone photoshop work.

totally agree. it is like a lucid dream.

now do u agree with me about the third hand?
it looks like that hand is rolling off that bubble like
david bowie in labyrinth.

I think the distorted image of her looks like an ILLUSTRATION. I thinkit will maybe prove to be a mirror image, kind of like the beach shot.

jondalar, seems like maybe a week early. but we don't know what she's doing next, etc. one of these days, she'll do a REAL media blitz. do like a hundred tv performances and s.

Ok so what next. We need that official track listing and then what? Just wait for the album to drop. After listening to that interview today it seems like she is dead set against of streaming any songs early.

Your right about it looking sorta like an illustration. It looks like a Migritte sorta to me.

well look - like I said, maybe they shouldve used the one where she looks like meryl streep in death becomes her, but that piano is weird. weird reflection in it, and I think stevie should have used a baby grand or something.

so I understand. but this is great album cover, right? look at it from a distance. its an excellent thumbnail. it will look goodnext to other bbig summer sellers like buble, swift, etc, in a target or best buy ad.

There's also the Secret Love music video, and that 'sizzle reel' and whatnot.

I'm pulling these three comments from Perez... someones comment on the photo, or in defense of the editing of the photo.. Pretty much sums it up:

carrie from la
"Since when does art have the responsibility of representing reality? Art's role in society is to convey an idea. A theme, a perspective, a key in which to write, think, and sing, and a frame on which to hang the more intricate details of what the artist wishes to create. In this instance, she's portraying an archetype, not some kind of boring pigeonholed literalism."

dreamboat
"Whoever had the airbrushing chore for that CD cover must be exhausted. She hasn't looked that good in 30 years. I'm not trying to be mean, but that cover is a blatant misrepresentation."

carrie from la
"A misrepresentation of what? Clearly, an artist can't misrepresent their own idea. It would be a VERY boring industry if everyone had to portray themselves as-is. Study the history of album covers– it's tradition to utilize a character, glorified vision, painting, drawing, or altered personality to lend vision to the music."

Default Fumbling back on the Ledge.

This is my first post in 5 years or so. Now back to the IYD album cover, I jokingly said to my wife '' Look , a couple of my heros made the album cover, Stevie Nicks and John Elway'' Maybe a Kansas City Chiefs fan would get that joke. They were always calling John " horseface". I am so giddy and silly about this.

Agreed, Stevie was going for an album cover that is purely epic for herself and female rock/pop artists in general today. There are album covers that have come about here and there from older female artists (Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris come to mind) where they are somewhat creative but definitely safe, and then you have Stevie's album cover, and she has gone all out. It speaks volumes because it's representing her comeback, and it's also representing how impactful she still is on the music scene.

She looks much more like herself than she did on Rock a Little. She had that strange squished face on Rock a Little, not to mention the phantom waist line. She looks really natural here, compared to that.

I don't think she looks overly Photoshopped. She's photographed standing back a ways, vs. the up close harsher lighting of tv we've recently seen which can be cruel and make her appear more tired than she really is. That, and I don't think her best makeup artists always get ahold of her these days... sometimes whoever does her up makes her appear kind of drab and faded. She needs to "pop" like she always did, even at 62. And at times, her makeup is spot on and just right.

Oh I loved her look and makeup on RAL. I think it was her head tilted up you're referring to. I find that album cool really. It symbolized witchy Stevie which is what I think they were going for. She's obviously quite proud of that album I believe. She's said she was 105 lbs on that album, so that would explain the tiny waist.
