lmfao. my plan worked. j/k.

so, you're doing SB too?! interesting. it's really not that bad, like you said. I think once I get out of Phase 1, it will be much better.

Yeah, no fruit can be challenging. I'm telling myself to stay in phase 1 until my birthday (4 weeks) because I have more weight to lose. So, that is what I am hoping to do. You should definitely be over your hump after two weeks of it, though.

really? I hope so. I know they say you lose between 8-10 lbs in Phase 1 and that's pretty much all I have left to lose.

as for the no fruit, yeah, it's hard...especially when you want something sweet.

Yeah, it's aaaalllll about sugarless gum, now. *sigh*. But that dessert they have, the ricotta cheese with fake sugar and vanilla/almond/etc. extract, sprinkle cinammon, or lemon zest, or almond (whichever kind you choose) that is actually a good dessert, I really like it. Thank goodness. Only supposed to have a half cup, though.

And I just realized that not drinking could be challenging. Past couple days I was still too hungover from the weekend, but now, today, I was like "ooh, I'm going to have a beer after work!" then I was all "ooh, f*ck, I can't!".

So yeah, major set back today. I am on the last workout of week 5 for the couch to 5k. I go in to see my grandfather in rehab today and my grandmother is there. There I am standing in my hollister tee shirt and my grandmother goes "Jim, are you getting a little f-a-t?." I almost cried. I was like "Ive been running 3 times a week for the past 5 weeks." My mom steps in and is like "I think he has lost some weight, blah blah blah". But god damn, that pissed me off.

Now, graduation came in the middle of this so, I pigged out a little and Im getting dominos tonight, but other than that, Ive been very good!

Paula after I finish this program, I really want to target my stomach, love handles, and thighs. Love handles have to be made a priority though!

Good job everyone Jaz, Paula, Deanna, and Amber...Woo Hoo June 30th...we need to shed some pounds for our big day!!

don't let that get to you...I know how you feel. I have certain family members that obsess with weight and mine is no exception. you know what you've eaten and how hard you've worked. don't sweat it.

as for your stomach/love handles, I know you didn't ask me, but using an exercise ball is a great way to target that area.

Like a medicane ball or one of those inflatable balls? We used to have one...

I know...tonight is the big night. The workout is to run for 20 minutes straight without walking. This is one I am nervous about.

I just got back.... I was making incredible time when my dinner felt like it was going to come up. I had to walk for a minute then run the rest out. Overall, I was pleased.

I know that feeling. the good thing is that you recognized when your body was "talking" to you. it's all a journey...you don't have to kill yourself, just be consistently healthy. you're on the right track. I know it seems like it takes for****ingever, but when you look back in 6 months and see the progress you've made you'll be glad you stuck with it. right now, when I'm running at 6.0 for 5 minutes straight I'm amazed because I can remember when I could barely walk at 3.5.

No fruit? No alcohol? Is this some kind of sick joke? You guys are stronger than me, no way would I give those up. That ricotta cheese thing does sounds delish, though, I remember you telling us about it a while back.

Um, Jimmy? Your grandma being a nasty judgemental bitch (perhaps she's upset about your grandpa being in the hospital?) is NOT a setback for you. Don't let her get you down. You know you're doing well, so screw everyone else. I would have said "no, but you're getting a little b-i-t-c-h-y." OK, no I wouldn't have. But that's what I'd want to say.

And I will put together a little workout plan for you for when you're ready.

So true. Progress can be slow, but you will amaze yourself with what you've accomplished when you reach your goals. Slow & steady wins the race, kids. It's all worth it.

YES, it emphatically is a sick joke.

It is very good, I like it better than some real desserts. Plus, of course, I feel better after I eat it.

Right now I'm totally into amazing myself by winning the race fast and erratically.

But that only works for a few pounds anyways, then I'll have to shift into that slow steady thing.

she's on Southbeach, like me. in the first 2 weeks, called Phase 1, you can't have any fruit or fruit juice because you can't have any sugar whatsoever during the first 2 weeks. once the Phase 1 is over you start incorporating fruits back in.

Hey, Amber! Nice to meet you.

Hehehe, this can be my new, fun "give Jaz shizz" thread.

Yes, as he says, though fruits have only natural sugar, the idea is to stabilize your blood sugar and break your carb addiction. Natural sugar still messes with your insulin release and all that, and may easily lead to cravings.

No, I wouldn't recommend that anyone give up fruit, of course it is very good for you. It's okay that this diet does it, though, because you can get tons and tons and tons of nutrients still from veggies, and veggies are very much allowed. In fact, people should always try to eat more veggies than fruits, anyways. Veggies usually have more fiber.
