One of the best metaphors I ever read for grief is that when someone you love dies it's as if a huge jar of marbles exploded in the room that is your life. You spend a short time running about crazy trying to pick them all up again, but the truth is you're going to keep finding the odd one here and there for the rest of your life, even when you haven't found one for months and months.
Grief. Marbles. I lost my mother when I was 8 and I'm 47 now and that is pretty much how it feels to me. But I've also lived some very, very happy times in those 39 years. Life goes on, and it will for Stevie and Christopher. Bless them.

I am sorry for your loss, and I can pretty much relate to what you said. I cannot imagine losing my Mom at that age, 'cause you have all this time still ahead of you, and are left to try and pick up the pieces. I lost my mother shortly after my 17th b-day, and that was hard enough. She was 38 and just too young, but very sick, and it happened so fast that I was in shock. Everything that weekend was a blur. I think the hardest part is shortly after the funeral, when you are alone with your thoughts and memories. Yeah, life does go on, but I still miss my Mom to this day. As I'm sure you know, with a loss like that, you learn to cope with it the best way you can. Everyone grieves differently too. My heart really goes out to Stevie and her family, but especially Stevie, as she was so close to her Mom. Been praying for the Nicks family, and I will continue to, and yes, bless them, and bless you too.
