Best part of the Slow Dancing video is when he walks across the room with deliberate intent, presses the girl up against the wall and leans in towards her neck.

You have just got to watch it - Lindsey is the sexiest thing ever in that vid, especially the last few seconds with the necking and kissing!! Makes me swoon just thinking about it. He's like Heathcliffe and Mr. Darcy and Max De Winter all rolled into one!!! Except hotter!
I've got it saved somewhere or other - but it's easy to find if you just google Slow Dancing Video.

The video is sillier than what I wanted for the song. I wasn't thinking he'd go campy, Monster Mash, with it. But it does have its saving graces;).

I'm in total agreement. When I first saw that video I played it over and over even though I'm not too keen on the song. I love his look, all dark, sultry and forceful. Lucky girl!

I choose to take the title loosely. Their names are mentioned but not necessarily meaning that it's entirely focusing on their relationship, rather relationships that the two of them have had/are having.

Wow. Thank you for educating me, really. Refering back to the original post in the thread, I choose to take the title a little more literally.
It's all about interpretation I guess.
But like I said, I was being flippant (like I am now - I now feel the need to point out my attempts at humour. Must be a British humour thing). That'll teach me.
Anyway, thanks again; I've been put in my place and will revert to my lurking tendencies. ;)

All I can say about this response is simply this.
Wow.
It's incredible how some people will defend their opinions and thoughts so diligently, and yet lambaste somebody else for doing the same with their own. Somebody not get their fix of drama today? You miss the part where I mentioned that it was an entirely personal "choice" that I choose to see the thread as I do, or was that lost on you while you were having that little breakdown of yours, sweety?

nothing wrong with flippant in my book. on either side.
actually it just occurred to me that posting pics of Lindsey & Kristen that are part of That's the Way Love Goes segment of his promo video probably makes more sense in this thread than i initially thought:p... i always thought that TTWLG is about Kristen and partly describes their dealing with sh** that people who want Lindsey to be with Stevie constantly throw at her. that cannot be pleasant. schmoozing during TTWLG segment may be reinforcing that interpretation.

Aww, hunny, if I haven't had my fix of drama today, I've certainly had a good laugh. Talk about totally missing my point. And incase you missed it whilst spouting off, I actually didn't express an opinion. I made a flippant remark about a photo that you saw fit to pounce on with a certain degree of aggression. Also, please show me at what point I berated you?
You assumed I was being offensive towards Lindsey and his marriage to Kristen, but as my lovely old grandma used to say, "to assume is to make an ass out of u and me".

I'd love to know when questions and aggression became so interchangeable. It must have been during the same meeting that decided sarcasm and catty comments about being "put in ones place" were an entirely friendly thing to comment with. I must remember to update my day planner so I can remember these important decisions. My my. I just don't know how your modern posters keep up.

Even though I don't understand that last sentence, I'm going to agree to disagree with you and call it a culture clash. It's all getting quite tedious and I'd much rather get back to the photo of the day thread in the Stevie folder; much more fun.

not much room for assumptions when someone says they threw up a little seeing a man kiss his wife. just saying.

And us short asses have to live with the guilt of the stretched Spaghetti people hurting their knees to cuddle us now. Thanks for that. You'll be just fine. I don't know how tall he is supposed to be but I'd think...maybe 5 foot 9? 5'10"?
I like those shots of the two of them. He was in an awkward, not-prepared-for-a hug position right from the start. Nice when he's not all Rico Suave.

he's shorter than me when i wear 3.5-inch heels and taller than me when i wear 1.5-inch heels. so probably he is 5'9" or so.

Here is an Entertainment Weekly article that discusses the etymology of the term "shipper" which people have asked about and explained on this board.
______________________
Meet the Shippers: TV’s Weirdest Fans
(From Entertainment Weekly’s 2/10/12 issue)
Love gets expressed in some wonderful and very weird ways in the world of television, from the passionate kiss to a penetrating bite on the neck. But last spring on Fox’s Fringe, Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson) set a radical new standard for romantic gestures: He tried to change the future in order to save the life of his destined-to-die soul mate, Olivia (Anna Torv), and wound up erasing himself from history (and her memory) in the process. All together now: Awwwwwwwww.
Exec Producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman - whose careful cultivation of the relationship between the two sci-fi heroes over three seasons includes monitoring message boards and social media for fan feedback - believed that viewers would be moved by Peter’s trippy sacrifice. Fox and Warner Bros. Television, which produces the show, were cool with the decision. But they did warn the writers that their heartbreaking cliff-hanger could backfire with fans deeply invested in the Peter/Olivia relationship. Fans who write sexy fan fiction and produce music video valentines about the characters, and who would be suspicious and alarmed by any move that kept them apart, even temporarily.
Turns out the suits were right. “The shippers,” says Wyman, “have not been very happy with us this year.”
No, we’re not talking about Fringe’s legion of seafaring viewers. We’re talking about an increasingly influential subset of TV fandom fixated on romantic relationships (hence the name “shippers”), or the potential for romance, between characters. Once, shipping was mostly a sci-fi/fantasy thing. Today, shipping - like love - knows no bounds. 30 Rock has Jack-and-Liz shippers. NCIS:Los Angeles has Kensi-and-Marty shippers. There are even - no joke - Simon-and-Paula shippers. (They’re grieving, so please: soft giggles.) Most show runners in Hollywood consider shippers to be a minority voice - but an important one. “Shippers are the people who are most engaged in the show, so they don’t represent the biggest statistical sample,” says Andrew Marlowe, creator of Castle. “But they really are your core audience, and you can gauge the level of investment of your entire fan base by their interactions with you.” And because shippers express their passion so publicly, they produce a noisy energy that showrunners can’t ignore, even if they wanted to. “I put all my efforts into shutting out the shippers,” says Bones exec producer Hart Hanson, who last season finally allowed Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan and FBI Agent Seely Booth to consummate an epic, six-season will-they-or-won’t-they dance. “But it had to have an influence. It had to.”
Most TV shows are flattered by the intense attention paid by their shipper fans. The producers of ABC’s rookie hit Once Upon a Time were thrilled to see quick emergence of shippers devoted to the budding relationship between Emma Swan and Sheriff Graham, as it meant their fairy-tale fantasy was accomplishing it’s mission. “Romance, the journey to find love, that’s all ingrained in the very DNA of what we’re trying to do,” says exec producer Edward Kitsis. “It’s great to go online and see that choices paid off for you.” (Not long after fans fell for Emma and Graham, the producers broke their hearts by killing off Graham. Teases co-creater Afam Horowitz: “All great relationships start off with hope, and the hope that it can overcome all obstacles. What greater obstacle is there than death?”) The CW’s Supernatural - which owes its seven seasons to a fiercely loyal and dynamic fan base - has periodically winked at it’s “Wincestors,” shippers who write sexually charged fan fiction about bogeyman-hunting brothers Sam and Dean Winchester. “We have no judgement about that,” says exec producer Sera Gamble. “We’re glad we spark people’s creativity.”
Yet other shows can have a more tortured relationship with shippers. Case in point: Bones. From the get-go, Hanson envisioned a franchise that offered weekly murder mysteries and ongoing romantic tension between its opposites-attract leads. He routinely goes online to look for useful feedback, which means slogging through posts by more virulent shippers - Hanson calls them “the dim nasties” - who resent him for doing his job: sustaining the very chemistry that hooks shippers by producing obstacles (romantic rivals!) and complications (romantic baggage!) designed to keep would-be lovers apart for as long as possible. “It was like I was messing with their own romances!” says Hanson. “You do everything you can to get people to care that much. But if I had listened to the shippers, Bones and Booth would have gotten together at the end of season 1.” Somewhere, shippers are asking, “And that would be a problem why?”
Shipping existed long before the term was coined. See: Moonlighting, Cheers, decades of Soap Operas. Oh, and Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry’s groundbreaking sci-fi series from the late ’60s was the big bang of modern-day fan culture. Among those first Trekkers was a subset of fans, mostly female, energized by the fanciful notice of a romance between Captain Kirk and Spock. They began writing Kirk/Spock fan fiction, and in this way, “slash” shipping (which focuses on same sex couples) was born and remains popular today. According to scholars like Kristina Busse, who teaches at the University of South Alabama, shipping and slashing became ways for maginalized, neglected female sci-fi fans to express their passion for their favorite shows, lay claim to the narrative, and even impishly subvert a geek fan culture that until recently has been largely male-targeted and male-driven.
But shipping as we understand it today began with another sci-fi saga about FBI agents investigating the fringes of weird science. “The fans of the X-files were among the first to take their fandom online,” says Christine Scodari, a professor at Florida Atlantic University. “It was really two grounds: those who called themselves ‘shippers’ , who wanted Mulder and Scully to develop a relationship, and the ‘noromos’, who didn’t want that in any way, shape, of form.” X-Files shippers were largely woman who identified strongly with Scully (or crushed hard on Mulder) and found something inspiring about an intimate rapport between a man and woman who respected each other’s intellect and wee struggling together through life’s rich drama… which, for them, involved exposing an alien takeover via killer bees and black oil. Says Scodari “It really was a commentary on contemporary relationships.” By the end of the X-Files’ nine-season run, Mulder and Scully had knocked trench coats and produced a child. But creator Chris Carter always kept the hot-and-heavy off screen, not wanting to upset the show’s winning chemistry and irk the “noromos.” Prior to the release of the 2008 film The X-Files: I want to Believe, Carter told EW: “I want you to take that relationship and imagine it could be real…. Maybe I’m the original shipper.”
Two more shows key to the development of shipper culture were Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Xena: Warrior Princess, an early example of a show that played to - and with - it’s shipper following. Xena’s emotional heart was the friendship between Lucy Lawless’ titular heroine and her young sidekick, Gabrielle (Renee O’Connor). The show would occasionally hint that they were lovers, which activated the slashers, which spurred the producers to push it even more. “Once the fans picked up on it, it was like gas to the fire,” says Xena creator Robert Tapert, who during the sixth and final season recruited to the writing staff a fan named Melissa Good, whose well-regarded slash fiction dramatized what the show would only imply. Xena and Gabrielle’s kiss in the series finale, says Tapert, was a farewell reward for the show’s ardent shippers.
Today, shipping isn’t just a rebel call or DIY wish fulfillment but one more way for fans to be fans in an era in which geek is mainstream and romantic fantasies, dark and otherwise, are all the rage. Shippers don’t just ship unlikely couples - they’ll ship anything with a romantic pulse. Evoking Twilight’s Team Edward-vs.-Team Jacob clash, Scodari says: “These days it is not a question of ‘to ship or not to ship.’ Now it’s a question of competing desires. Which couple will win?” The object of their affections may be fictional, and yes, their pop culture crushing can be scary. But for many, the benefit - and perhaps true motivation - is community with other fans. Elmedina D., 15, a fan of The Vampire Diaries, is attracted to two competing ships - Damon and Elena, and Stefan and Elena - and makes music videos dedicated to both couples. “When I hear a song, it just reminds me of a certain couple, just screams ‘This is perfect for them!’ and you want to make a video,” she says. Jodi Zeramby, 40, has written fan fiction imagining a romance between Alicia and bisexual Kalinda from The Good Wife. Authorial intent is a hotly debating topic among shippers, and Zeramby is convinced she’s onto something. “When you look at how close they got on the show, what they’re willing to do for each other, I think it’s there.”
Kara Estes, 29, is a slightly more typcial TV shipper. She’s a longtime Nathan Fillion fan and loyal Castle viewer, which automatically makers her a shipper, as the ABC drama is all about slowly bringing mystery novelist Castle and police detective Beckett together. “I’d say 90% of fan fiction is about their relationship,” says Estes, who spends about four hours a week blogging, tweeting, and chatting online about Castle. She doesn’t write fan fiction, but she reads it, and her affection for the Castle fan community inspired her to create the Castle Fanfic Awards. “Everyone has a hobby,” shes says. “My dad rebuilds old cars; I have Castle.”
THE SHIPPER GLOSSARY:
Shipper: Derived from the world relationship, a fan who’s deeply invested in the romance - or possibility of romance - between two characters. Shipping runs the gamut between “just having fun” and “scary-stalker serious”.
Noromos:Dating back to the days of The X-Files, these are the fans who oppose the idea of romance between characters. (Get it? No romance.) They’re often hardcore geeks who think the mushy stuff gets in the way of more interesting things, like investigating mysteries, flying spaceships, or killing monsters.
Shipper War:Conflict between rival shipper groups. The battleground: website message boards.
Stelenas vs. Delenas:Shippers of The Vampire Diaries are typically divided into two camps: those who want to see Stefan and Elena hook up, and those who want to see Damon and Elena hook up.
Smooshing:That annoying thing where people cook up nicknames, like Stelena and Delena? That’s smooshing.
Fanfic:Short for fan fiction, a very popular, creative way for shippers to express themselves.
Crossover: Shippers who forge an imaginary coupling between characters from different pop culture properties - say, Princess Leia and Harry Potter.
Mary Sue:
When fans write fanfic that uncludes an idealized character clearly based on themselves, that character is called a Mary Sue. (Mary Sues often get romantically involved with the fan’s favorite character.)
Slash:
A type of shipper - or subgenre of shipper fanfic - that advocates for a relationship to blossom between two same-sex characters.
Wincestors:The out-there group of Supernatural fans who fantasize about romance between the show’s heros, brothers Sam and Dean. Yes, we said brothers.

10 Musical Couples We Wish Would Reunite
by Russ Marshalek. Posted on 4:00 pm Monday Jun 11, 2012
Music is a passionate occupation to pursue, and it makes sense that some of our favorite musicians have, well, hooked up with some of our other favorite musicians in fiery ways throughout the years. This is something we’ve been chewing on ever since we first got former Fleetwood Mac co-figurehead Lindsey Buckingham’s last solo record, Seeds We Sow. While on tour for the record he’s been nothing but immaculate, and the album’s full of the sort of mind-boggling guitar work that Buckingham’s known for (yet still ridiculously underrated in), but we’re going to say what’s still on everyone’s mind: we miss the self- (and others-)lacerating songs Buckingham was creating when he was still under the spell of Stevie Nicks. After reading that, regardless of what rumors may be, Buckingham’s in no hurry to create with Fleetwood Mac any time in the near future, we took to daydreaming about what other musical couples we’d like to see back together for various reasons: to be one another’s muses, to restore our sense of wellbeing, or just to be incredibly attractive together. Read through for 10 of our picks, and tell us, won’t you, who you think we’ve missed in the comments.
When Buckingham showed up on the metaphorical doorstep of Fleetwood Mac insisting that he and then girlfriend Stevie Nicks (of Buckingham and Nicks, of course!) were a package deal, it was the chaos butterfly moment about which thousands (OK, maybe hundreds) of books and articles would be written. From that day on, Fleetwood Mac became synonymous with sex, substance abuse, studio wizardry/insanity (see: Tusk), and some of the greatest rock music ever recorded.
Buckingham and Nicks pushed each other as they accosted each other through song, and the masochists then proceeded to tour their songs of hating, cheating, and despising each other and play them, together, night after night, to stadium-sized crowds. Everything that needs to be said is in the video above, of Buckingham and Nicks performing “Landslide” together during their The Dance reunion tour: after facing each other during this ridiculously emotional performance, they kiss each other off with a barbed “thank you Lindsey”/”thank you Stevie.” We need more of this. Buckingham’s an incredible guitarist on his own, but with Nicks around as muse he was just so much more… fierce.

You know, talking about Say Goodbye made me think of what songs you would play for someone if you were trying to get them into SnL.
For me, it's not Say Goodbye. That just looks odd. The only thing odder was Lindsey swinging his amplifier cord at Stevie for the Tusk dance at the beginning of the tour (which he later stopped doing, thankfully).
I also am not really moved by SS on the Dance dvd. I actually think SnL had some great SS moments during the tour itself, but the Dance dvd doesn't get me going.
As for concert moments that make me ship I would name these:
1. The Chain on the Mirage video. Just the way Stevie is staring at Lindsey like he is insane gets to me.
2. Staring in general on The Dance. Stevie is staring at Lindsey and Lindsey is often staring at Christine. Well, his eyes aren't drilling a hole into Chris (like Stevie is doing with him), so maybe stare isn't the right word, but when he is standing away from his mic, he is making eye contact with Chris as he plays.
3. SOTM when Lindsey lays on Stevie's back. Yum.
4. Angel, playful Lindsey is just the most adorable thing ever (which is also true in the Seven Wonders video). When he is silly, I am smitten.
Moments that make a ship take sail.

re Lindsey and Stevie i think there are several versions of Landslide that are shipper-worthy, LiB version being one of them, also Letterman version.
i love the Chain in Mirage video, but that's pure hate there, not sure i'd call it sipper-inducing? but SOTM moment is a classic.

I definitely agree with the Mirage performance of The Chain. Intense is the best word for it! Really, I'd just plop a newbie down and have them watch all of the Mirage concert. I also love the silly LB moments, as you mentioned Angel during the Tusk tour and the Seven Wonders video. If I ever need a laugh I watch that video, it always makes me smile, even if the song is meh :D

Tusk was good in the old days because they'd do that little hoe down, not just Chris and Lindsey but John too. And the way Chris was playing, in and out, up and down, it was like she was enjoying herself. It was like feeling band members jam, which is not always the vibe you got from them in concert.
Chris and Lindsey have a nice ship. I've said this before, but I would mark my Dance boots that way. If SnL did something during SS I would put that on the tape, so I could distinguish one concert from the other. Like if Lindsey came all the way across the stage to her during SS, I would put that down. But I would also put down what Lindsey and Chris did after the show. When they went to take their bows, sometimes she would walk across the stage directly into his arms and I would be sure to write that down!
Also, the GYOW interaction was nice because Lindsey would do something to all 3 of them. He would go to Stevie and nuzzle her every night, which was no big deal until the end of the tour when she moved away from him and he had to hunt her down. Then he would grab John around the neck and do everything to him and John would keep on playing the whole time. And he would go to Christine and he might kiss her or he might lean over and touch his head to hers at the piano. So sweet.
As for Mirage, The Chain, I don't see that as hate in Stevie's eyes. But if I was just coming to this band, I'd want to know exactly what that look was. I'd want to know the history behind it. I'd want to know what those 2 people were to each other. It would pull me in.

Silver Springs, from the Dance, pulled me in. I wouldn't say it was as lovey-dovey as it was intense/borderline pathologically scary. I knew NOTHING about Stevie-Lindsey's relationship at the time and thought...geez. Here be history. Or something. Maybe they were both in lockup together.
And it always cracks me up, at the end of this near-exorcism, when Stevie smiles sweetly and says "silver springs is a great old song," like she just finished Row, Row, Row Your Boat instead of this extraordinarily passionate thing.
I love that performance.
I have this extremely grainy boot of the Pittsburgh Dance concert which was a favorite. Probably wore that sucker out. Something was going on there, with either SS or Landslide, and I don't remember exactly what it was but I loved watching that thing. I remember my mom's comment about it being shot from a tv that still had rabbit ears antenna.

 Yeah, this prison is called Fleetwood Mac - you're only allowed out to do solo projects occasionally, and you are forced to sing break up songs with your ex for eternity! (I know I'd consider that hellish ;) :p )
Haha thank you! I'm so glad I'm not the only one. It actually really frustrates me sometimes lol! *Woah Stevie, can you give me a minute, I need to digest what just happened here!* But nope, she's all intense one second and then chipper, nothing happened here, the next hehe - Stop deflecting the emotion of the song Stevie! :p

As far as famous Mirage moments go, the kiss he and Christine shared isn't exactly slouching.
Judging from their kiss during the US Festival and the only two shows I saw during that tour, I think they may have kissed most shows for that tour.

Really, I'd just plop a newbie down and have them watch all of the Mirage concert.
I didn't even have to do this and it worked with 2 people I know. Back in 1982-1986 HBO often had this concert in heavy rotation so everyone got to watch it at one time or another. I still remember this guy at work telling me one day that he finally understood my obsession with SN. He had seen the concert on HBO and was mesmerized by Sister's Of The Moon. The other person was my brother who while flipping channels with one hand down his pants, like most guys, came across the concert and enjoyed Stevie's beauty. Her never liked her singing though.

Yes, I agree with them that the US Festival kiss is just a peck, but not the one in the Mirage video. I'm not saying that Christine and Lindsey had an affair. I'm just saying he adored her . . . until she burned her bridges. Actually, I think he took that a little hard, no matter what he says.
I think he loves Mick and Stevie very deeply too, but Christine was different, because there was less friction with her. So, it was an easier relationship. He said in the SYW program that they could all finally admit they love one another. But I don't think he ever had a problem loving Christine. John, Mick, Stevie . . . love/hate.

For sure there's all kinds of love going on. But, recently he has reiterated how Chris may have helped Stevie initiate the break up that he thought could have been prevented. So, he probably was miffed at her about that for awhile anyway.

Oh he's reiterated a lot of things since she's been gone and one of the reasons for that is, I believe, that he is sorry/mad she's gone. He has said she accelerated his break up with Stevie. He has said she made Stevie's music too feminine and he has said her music never sounded all that good in concert. He has lots of negative things to say. I don't think that has much to do with his feelings.

Yes, she had angry interviews just like he has had since she left. Once she indicated that he would not be missed much because she and Stevie had all the hits anyway. She said bitter things when he was first gone. Ironically, I think John was the first one to say he was sad Lindsey was gone. The others had angry pronouncements at first. Then their softness came through later.
He has said that he understood her leaving precisely because he had to leave himself, but I don't think he actually does. Mojo said he talked about her leaving with surprising vehemence. Of course that is their editorial description and cannot be trusted, but I got a kick out of it. Michele

The very first press conference they had following Lindsey's departure John said that there was "definite sadness" in Lindsey leaving. The others were saying that Lindsey didn't want to tour and that it was a relief for him to be gone, since he had been unhappy, but the way it was phrased they asked them something like how do you feel about Lindsey leaving, anger? No, I can’t find that comment about Christine’s songs on stage right now, but I’ll find it. But he basically said that live, her songs weren’t showstoppers anyway [not that they weren’t good songs, he was talking about the stage], so her absence wouldn’t be felt as much as people thought.
Lindsey said in Guitar World Acoustic:
http://www.fleetwoodmac-uk.com/articles/FMart111.html
That's true! I think Mick would say that his playing here is probably the best he's ever done. To some degree, Stevie, left to her own devices - not necessarily on her solo albums, but in the context of Fleetwood Mac - is, if not a more masculine presence, then certainly a more aggressive presence than when she's tempered by what Christine would bring to her songs.
________________
This is from the August 18, 1987 press conference the band did. The question was, “What are your feelings about Lindsey leaving?
Christine: I would say with a lot of understanding and certainly a little sadness, you know.
John: Yes, definitely sadness.
Christine: After twelve years of being with somebody it’s never easy. It’s like a sort of divorce, you know. I’m speaking for myself, I have all the musical respect in the world for Lindsey and we’ve never been tight friends, ut we’ve always had a lot of respect for one another. And I would like to think that at some point in the future that I could do something with him again. I don’t know when, but . . .

[So looking for Lindsey's quote, I found other interesting things]
Lindsey on Howard in 2003: "Howard has his formulas and he's very much in control of certain aspects of the business side. He's not really concerned with anything creative, he's concerned with getting this project up and running and making Stevie the money that he feels he wants to make her."
John on Lindsey: Lindsey still pulls stuff out of the hat; he's an amazing guitar player, but he never gets recognized for that. And even though he's the band's producer, he hides his voice a bit. Mick and I are always mentioning with timid little voices, 'We can't really hear your vocals, Lindsey.'
November 2003 interview during the SYW tour, Stevie: "There's more psychic space. We can face off and really connect. We're able to be warm and loving and friendly and fun. There's a sweetness to it. Lindsey and I are really enjoying it? [She casts a sideways glance] Aren't we?"
Lindsey: Yes, we are."
___________________
Article discusses the fact that What Has Rock and Roll Ever Done for You almost went on Tango. "Stevie has no rancor about the song's total elimination, asserting with a sigh that FM usually prefers her 'stranger, more demented rock and roll.'"
Same article, Chris says of When I See You Again: "That was a little too down and depressing." So, it's position on the album was shifted. "To fill the gap, Christine took an existing instrumental track of Lindsey's and wrote 'You and I, Part II' a song that echoes her new beginning with Eddy quintela. 'There's a helpful, optimistic vibe to the song, of a new tomorrow,' she believes pointedly adding, "it's pop, but it's mature."
Billy Burnette: "five years ago, when I met Mick Fleetwood in the audience of a Dick Clark TV special, I wouldn't have guessed it'd lead to all this. The funny thing is, there was a band I was forming a few years back called the Cholos that Lindsey was seriously thinking of joining as an outside thing! Now that I've dealt with all these surprises, I want to provide what's expected of me."
Mick on Lindsey: "He wanted out before it sucked him in, into a world he has no real respect for. We all had a nice life, including him. But he's happy if he has a pair of jeans, a pair of sneakers, as long as his car works. Therefore, he didn't have the distractions. I enjoyed the life, Stevie enjoyed the life, Christine enjoyed the life. John was a bit more like Lindsey, not quite so lunatic. We had a ball until it got too much for anybody to handle."
Lindsey: “I talked to Don Henley one time about the Eagles, and it seemed like there was so little love or idealism left in that group of people and perhaps that’s more the norm for people our age. But we seem to be slightly more arrested, and I think there’s some potential for some good stuff because of that.”

Cleveland Plain Dealer (05/11/2003), Fleetwood Mac looking forward
http://www.fleetwoodmac.net/bla/index_vp.php?id=439&c=18
"As great as her songs were on recordings, they were not, generally speaking, the strongest things live," Buckingham said. "As much as I respect Christine and her legacy, this is very much in the tradition of Fleetwood Mac remaking itself once again, in a slightly smaller way this time."
I also found an australian 2004 interview where he said:
"We could play her songs but there's no reason. We have a much ballsier show going on now and we're playing better than ever."
Christine said, "I'm often in touch with Mick and occasionally speak to Stevie, but not so much Lindsey and John. I still have a tender affection for all of them, but they were slightly miffed at my leaving. When they played here last years I saw them at Earl's Court. They were bloody great. For the first time in my life, I was able to see Fleetwood Mac as others saw us. I went backstage to see Stevie and she said, 'Oh, Chris I am so knackered!' [I think Chris must be paraphrasing here]. Music is her life and she's still brilliant at what she does, but I don't have the slightest twinge of envy."
So, if she talked to Mick and Stevie back then -- and Cory said that Stevie and Christine were like schoolgirls together at Earl's court, who were the ones who were miffed at her leaving? I'd say it was John and Lindsey back then. John did say in the SYW program that he wouldn't want Christine back if she was going to be there and unhappy like she was before.
Christine also said something that I'd forgotten. She said she loved Jerry Seinfeld and had seen most of the episodes many times and he was her favorite comedian. She said she also watched Curb Your Enthusiasm which was dryer, but she enjoyed it, once she knew how it worked. She is a girl after my own heart.
Elle, Lindsey said that Say Goodbye was Asnavour meets Leo Kottke.

Especially Mick saying how Lindsey would be happy with a pair of jeans, his car working, etc. It makes me think of the DR doc - I never really liked that conversation he had about Lindsey, saying that because he'd never have to worry about living in a one bedroom house, etc. (the whole double album argument) - I just found those two comments very different. I know they all have their moments, but there was something about how that was a conversation without Lindsey, Mick and I can't remember who the other guy was, sort of making fun of Linds, I don't like to see :distress:

It was Ray Lindsey in that scene, but since Lindsey had a heavy hand in the editing of DR, I doubt that had anything to do with Ray's decision to eventually leave. I know they announced one of the SYW shows was his last, but if memory serves he actually reappeared and maybe even helped out at some UTS tour dates. I guess he may have been training his replacements.
Thanks CADreaming. I always wondered. Rock stars can be rather sensitive sometimes about loyalty and such so I hoped Ray wasn't bitten by the hidden cameras. That would seem unfair.

Ha, what about Ray and Karen sharing a moment in DR.
Yeah, I don't think Lindsey cared about Ray laughing at him, as long as Ray had been with him. One time when Lindsey went on a radio program, people who saw some video on the website thought they saw both Ray and Will with Lindsey at the studio. I didn't see it. But yeah, Ray has worked with Lindsey on one or two occasions since he officially stopped being his tech. I think he was on tour with him until Lindsey found a replacement and I was afraid the new guy would make Lindsey trip with the cords flopping around everywhere.

And, then again - what was that curious statement Ken made about Ray saying he might write his own book just to "exorcise the demons"? So, who knows...

Michele - Those articles are really interesting.
And I think Stevie has said the same thing about Lindsey. Maybe she and Mick talked it over, about him not needing anything material. But that was before Lindsey had a family when Stevie said it.
I hate Karen talking about Lindsey on DR. Yeah, don't try to defend her you Karen fans. I know the "she was just doing her job" line. If she wants to tell Stevie that Lindsey didn't sign the contracts and have Stevie confront Lindsey alone, fine, but having her stick her nose into that made me furious. I'd rather one of Stevie's managers did it, not her bookbag carrying assistant. Go make some green tea, Karen.

Ha yeah. But I got the feeling Ken was saying Ray was going to write that book just because Lindsey was awful and angry for decades, not because Lindsey was mad over the DR smirking. Richard and Ray both support Ken and Christine told him she just LOVED the book, made her believe in love again or was that magic. Um music again, i guess.

You know, I'm glad you said that, because I've watched this doc many a time and felt similar about that whole altercation. I understand that Karen has to schedule these things, so to a degree it's her business, but I don't like how she went about it. And to prove I'm not on one camp or the other :p I think Lindsey was instigating, whether consciously or not, about the tense/Bob Dylan issue - However, I think Karen was instigating as well. Everything seemed calm and then bringing this up gets Stevie all flustered - she looks so anxious as she pets Sulamith. Also, I don't think Lindsey would intentionally not sign something, etc. just to provoke or halt progress on the album. He said they were asking for things he couldn't provide, e.g. which songs would be on the album, and obviously at that point he couldn't do that. The only fault Lindsey made was being passive aggressive on the phone, but again he was instigated. Karen, why you make Mom and Dad fight? :distress: ;)

"You know you should never believe what you read."
Or what you see or hear anymore....
All the talk about DR has made me go pull out my copy....
Got to say I loved the Stevie kitchen scene with the singing fish and the "burning trees" statement...
The DR talk also makes me think of all the miles of film that was taken and cut out.... So basically, we are seeing just bits and pieces and not entire situations as well as only hearing parts of conversations....
Sorry to butt in.

you know, i have to say that i think there was something to what Mick was saying in DR doc. i do think Lindsey doesn't care too much about material possessions (just look at his wardrobe lately, he's been wearing exact same things for the last 10 years, his black shirts from SYW tour time are now washed out to gray and he's still wearing them), but he also sometimes says funny things which show him being completely oblivious about people's money situations compared to his.

Right.
Elle, this was a little different than our Italian Summer discussion. It wasn't really about what the song sounded like, it was about why we liked the song, whether it was because we liked Aznavour, Sinatra and Julio Iglesias.
I just said it's definitely not because I like Frank Sinatra. Julio Iglesias . . .I only have his All of You album. So, I don't feel like I know him. I actually can envision him singing Say Goodbye, but I wouldn't like the song because it reminded me of Iglesias. As for Charles Aznavour, I don't think about him, but it is funny because La Boheme came up recently in that trivia quiz.

I was laughing last night when looking at this old Cindy Adams interview with Lindsey and Kristen.
http://rockalittle.com/article_ny_post_may30_2003.htm
He just bought Kristen a necklace and Cindy told him he had to get the matching earrings too and Lindsey was like "Matching earrings?" That tickled me, because I could imagine Lindsey's voice and the expression on his face. I'm sure he's inclined to be frugal:laugh:. He sort of said, 'We don't have enough time to go back to the jewelry store. Too late.'

That is exactly what I thought (probably that's because how I feel whenever I hold someone's hand for longer than 5 seconds ). Like I wonder how long they ACTUALLY sat there like that. I'm also glad they spared us having to see oen of them pull away because that's also always awkward - inevitable but awkward, because yeah, you keep trying to wait for the "right" time but never really know what the other person is thinking lol.

What seemed awkward to me was the video element. I doubt it's that awkward to them. Reminds me of a fan review of a Dance show-they said afterward they were allowed backstage to meet the band but only SnL showed. They came in holding hands and sat on a sofa as the fans congratulated them on getting back together - they held hands the entire time while insisting they weren't together & seeing other people. I'm sure Stevie and Lindsey are at ease around each other after all this time, it's probably not all that weird for them. Certainly sometimes I'll hold hands with my mother or my sister while we're watching a movie or something and I don't feel awkward, because I'm just so used to them
At this point, regardless of all the history/drama, they're bound to be ~old friends~ enough to the point that they can enjoy and feel comfortable showing affection in that way.
It's just awkward for us because they're holding hands while talking about the fact that they practically were married a million years ago, Lindsey IS married, Stevie has a dog, and every night they relive their love affair onstage

Yeah, when Lindsey grabbed her hand while Mick was talking definitely seemed a bit tongue-in-cheek to me. Stevie's smirk when he did it was hilarious. Plus, when Mick first started saying that he had a component he was rooting for, both Lindsey and Stevie got flashed these knowing looks/smiles. That might just have been because he'd told them before that he wanted them to ham it up & so they knew what was coming, though:lol:
The other video seemed pretty natural to me though, like Stevie was just being clingy  Of course, that was the video where they cut around a lot so their hand positions kept changing so it's harder to read the body language.

Well it's been pretty obvious where they're going with it. The details of that is what they argue about. I'm not sure it was planned to synch though. Like when Stevie had her hand on his wrist - that just seemed like her touchy feely self.
I don't like it and it gives me bad feelings about what sort of manufactured nonsense they'll dream up for the tour itself. I like things to be more organic. You can't beat the Madison night he did push ups. Just the way she was laughing and touching his hair and hands and tripping over her tongue when discussing Stella's birth, saying "we" . . . It was all so spontaneous and genuinely loving. Of course, that's a one time thing, but I'd rather see them just coming back onto the stage for the encore casually holding hands than doing it in such a choreographed manner. You know when they sat down to do that day of interviews that they planned to hold hands at some point during the taping. It annoys me.

You know, I always liked hearing about the spontaneity of the Madison show. What tour was that? Unleashed? Don't think there was video that I've ever seen of that.
The problem is if there IS anything spontaneous that happens, they then realize that IT works and then make it choreographed from there on out.

Well, I do agree with this somewhat.
Mostly because Mick is saying he wants them to do something totally "off the wall" that shows their chemistry but by virtue of PLANNING OUT what they will do... it's not very off the wall, is it? It's choreographed and staged.
I'm all for them choosing songs that feature the dynamics between the two of them musically/vocally or whatever. That would be wonderful and I hope it happens, and I look forward to it if it does.
But as far as their interactions - I'd much rather see them interacting in a natural way rather than something they've planned and repeat night after night.
That said, I did come to enjoy even the planned stuff because it was interesting seeing how it evolved. But it doesn't hold a candle to spontaneous stuff that like you said, stems organically from actual emotions.

I agree with that too. We knew the Sara hug was coming, but I still enjoyed that. In England, even when I was told to put away my camera, there was no way I was not going to get my Sara hug!
I do like to see things change over time. Like with that horrid Tusk dance, Lindsey did stop swinging the cord and they got around to hugging and dancing a lot faster than they had when the tour started. Also, when I first saw SYW there was no stuff going on during Don't Stop, so by the time I saw them again and he started laying his head on her hair that really excited me. I didn't see it when it first happened. It was something that developed in my absence and it really gave me a thrill. Then, it changed more so that she was turning her back for the sole purpose of giving him access to her mane, presenting herself so to speak. That made me go, "hmmm."
So, I do get some fun out of the planned stuff, as you say. I just prefer the other.

There is video. Pattie took it. It was the first show back. They had taken a month or two off from the tour. Stella had been born.
As you say, they do repeat stuff when it gets a good fan reaction, but they couldn't repeat Madison because it happened when the guitar went out. So, it was a lot of fun. Stevie was talking to fill time.

Oh! I'll have to look for that then. Thanks for the info!
And I agree with your other post as well..I will appreciate and like seeing the evolution of choreographed/staged interactions. It's just not what I and most fans would prefer. Obviously

I might have read this wrong, due to the chopping, but there seemed to be an honest, fun moment after Lindsey said that Without You hadn't been written yet. With the editing, it is unclear, but I would guess that the interviewer said, "You two still argue" and they laughed and Stevie said something like, "not like we used to" and I wished that part had been left intact.

Oh, interesting
When I saw it I got the impression that the interviewer had asked "How do you keep your energy up on tour?" and someone (whether it was the interviewer or one of the Macsters, not sure) said something along the lines of them doing the same thing they always did (in regards to just staying active or whatever, not sure), but it came off as implying that they are still doing cocaine & the like. Hence why Stevie was laughing and they all started going, "No, not like we used to."

I love these captions, Lindsey seems to be quoting Stevie's Storms.

Yeah, the Sara hug had really evolved a lot - from it not even being a hug in the beginning - just Stevie resting her hand on his shoulder a few seconds - to by the end of the tour - Lindsey not even playing guitar and wrapping both his arms around her. So, that was nice.
But, I totally agree with what you are saying. If they would stop trying to control "it" or themselves or whatever and just be more loose and natural - I think those moments are where you see their real chemistry and what makes it so special. Like Mick said, it is magic and if they can realize they don't need to try and manufacture it, then the sincerity of the live moments will be a real privilege to see.

Has she? I know she did that on the SYW tour with LB. But that's the thing - they'll use something like this that was a spontaneous, sweet moment until it becomes routine - and it's fine, it's almost inevitable, but it loses something - to the people who really are paying attention.

Then, you just have to live for the variations. Like when she would play the piano on his shoulder or when he would lean against her and she would hold him up and they would sometimes giggle.

They are really sick people.
I've said this before (and I know Dee has disagreed), but it amuses me how clumsy they look with each other, like in the Destiny Rules video when they are kissing or on the David Letterman show or on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame presentation. They're like, "well, I'm moving this way. Are you going to go left or right? Well, are you going to hold my hand or put your hand on my back? Oh, ouch you're twisting my thumb!"
The way they fumble, they practically need crash helmets around each other.
I can't imagine that sex went very smoothly.:distress:
Those are great gifs Wildhearted.
