Danielle, you are so freakin lucky! I'm jealous! haha

That clip of Dave and Stevie totally made my night. It reminded me of those gypsy promo videos where Stevie is talking about how she's horrible at memorizing things.
"We've been working hard--really hard..." lol.

I love how Dave seems to be bringing her out of her comfort zone with this new album and getting her involved in the online world!

Stevie Nicks: STEVIE!
Dave Stewart: ...and we're very excited it's the last day in the studio recording.
Stevie Nicks: It's the last day of recording and we start mixing on Monday. We're totally excited. And we just wanted to share that with you guys. Cuz we've been working hard, really hard for a long time on this. And we hope that you're going to love this music, WE love this music. Right Dave?
Dave Stewart: Absolutely. Bye bye!

Indeed. I love Stevie as much as anybody else here, but I'd hardly like to put an audio version of myself out there where I'm gushing like some crazed fanboy. I'll show my loyalty to her instead by purchasing the album, and possibly going to see a live show.

I guess I'm just weird. I have zero desire to contact/meet Stevie. I have no interest in telling her my story. I don't want to shake her hand on the Edge walk, I'd never even go near the stage. To me, I rather enjoy keeping her as a fascinating lady I'll never meet. She maintains her mystical allure that way... which sounds totally stupid, but that's the way I like it.

I agree with you....as much as I'd love to meet Stevie...I'm worried that it might break the illusion of the Stevie I have in my head! A number of artists I have met were nice when signing autographs...but not at all like I expected them to be.

I also have little desire to actually meet Stevie, and, to be honest, the more I hear her speaking in interviews and so on, the more my original image of her unravelled. In person she seems to lack the mystique that comes through in the music, IMO.

I guess I'm just weird. I have zero desire to contact/meet Stevie. I have no interest in telling her my story. I don't want to shake her hand on the Edge walk, I'd never even go near the stage.

I know exactly what you mean. In fact, at one of her Universal Studio shows with Chris Isaak I was in the front row and it was so close to the stage that they didn't allow other people to come up for the Edge Walk, there wasn't enough room between the first row and the stage perimeter. I loved this, because I could see the show without anyone standing in front of me. This also meant that all I had to do was lift my elbow if I wanted to shake her hand during the Edge walk and I wouldn't do it. I just had no desire to touch her.

That is not to say that if I ran in to her somewhere and we found we had something in common that I wouldn't want to talk to her about that. I would enjoy it, if we both grew tulips for competition or something and we could discuss that together. But I never want to go, "Oh, I'm such a big fan. I'm so thrilled to meet you." I think that's stupid.

On the other hand, there are some people that I think about talking to all the time. Cher is out with all of this Burlesque publicity and the things she is saying about Sonny are making me kind of mad and I would love to meet Chastity Bono (Chaz) and just tell her what a fan I am of her father's music and just let her know I can recite the words to even his most obscure songs by heart. Let her know that when I say I'm a fan, I don't mean I'm an I Got You Babe fan. Let her know that the best thing Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks ever did for me was Needles and Pins.

Also this week I was thinking of Nigella Lawson's dead husband and thinking I wanted to meet her and tell her that the columns John Diamond wrote when he was dying of cancer stay with me until this day, almost a decade later. I remember being in the intensive care unit while my dad was having surgery and the doctor's bedside manner was so frustrating, but so exactly like what John Diamond had described in one of his columns, that I was laughing and crying in the hospital and I thought, if I ever saw Nigella Lawson or one of her kids Bruno or Cosima at an airport, I would tell her that. I just want them to know that after the initial outpouring of grief and sympathy, even years later, John Diamond's words live on. John Diamond had esophagal cancer and he did outrageous things. He would put liquor directly into his stomach tube and, of course, smoke through his tracheotomy. When Michael Douglas announced his cancer, I thought of John Diamond immediately. I so often do.

So, there are people I want to gush about and I wore an LB t-shirt to one of his shows and was thrilled when he commented on it. Still, I never wanted to shake his hand. I also don't want to ask him for a guitar pick, but if one fell on the floor, I would pick it up!

Chaz is a "him" now

Yes, I know. Hopefully when I meet Chaz I won't have to use any personal pronouns exclusive to gender. I should be able to get along with just "you" and "your."

I've also read both of Chaz' books, so I would be able to offer favorable comments on those, in between gushing about my admiration of Mr. Bono's music and sense of humor.

I used to want to meet stevie in person so bad. But now I have the attitude that itll happen if it happens. I've been "backstage" twice now and close but no cigar. I have have shaken her hand though numerous times. I've even made her laugh on stage once during "Sorcerer" at the San Diego Jingle Ball on 2001. I'll never forget that. So that will always be enough.

You guys be crazy for not wanting to meet Stevie! The night I met her was one of the most memorable and euphoric moments of my life. Given it was only for 5 minutes at an FM meet n' greet back in 03', when that woman looked into my eyes I swear she could see straight through to my soul! I actually didn't even need to say anything to her because I felt as though she already knew everything I was going to say. That being said I met her only 2 years after becoming a hard-core fan so things might be different today ( 7 years later).
My point is I guess I can understand to a certain extent about not wanting to shatter the illusion one may have of her but at the end of the day she's a human being (an extra-ordinary one) and maybe you won't even like the person you meet but she's still the one who created all that musical genius that has impacted so many of your lives.

Kind of ironic that Stevie was on the cover of the People magazine which covered Sonny's death. That's the issue where she talks about her "lost" years. Man, I would have had to buy that one anyway because of her, you didn't have to go and ski into a tree:lol:!

I have to agree with you there for the most part. Although I definitely wouldn't pass up the opportunity if I had it to meet one of the various people I love at a show or wherever, it'd be a lot more interesting to somehow run into them or whatnot and talk with them that way. Even though being a huge fan, it would be a lot nicer to have an actual conversation (or try to ) instead of being all gushy and doing the typical 'i'm a huge fan I love your work' deal, it seems awkward IMO and they hear that kind of thing all the time. Honestly though depending on who it is I don't know how I'd react unless I was actually in the situation, but even then I can't see myself going OMG I LOOOOOOVE YOUUU in their face. There are so many other ways to let them know how much they mean to you without being a screaming fangirl/boy.

I understand and feel the same about your sentiments completely. Talk about "shattering your illusions of love,"...I've met and spent some time with famous people here and there, and it completely changed my perception of them...and not always for the better. I like to keep Stevie on a higher plane, and never be exposed to her more earthly presence.

I'm assuming this is a continuation of Stevie's solo album and that Lindsey must be making a guest appearance but I wonder if it could possibly be the beginning of the next Mac album?

But why did he spell it Lindsay? And why would Buckingham be there if they are done recording? Stevie does not want him producing a Mac album, much less a solo Stevie album!! And why would they start up Mac stuff now?? Oh so many questions!!

louielouie2000
11-20-2010, 07:59 AM
^Who knows, perhaps these rumblings of the Mac touring this summer are true... and it's to back a new album. We do know that Stevie and Lindsey have both insisted on an outside producer if another album were to be made. That's where Dave fits in the puzzle for sure. I don't know how likely it would be that a Mac album is secretly being recorded right now, though. However, I do know that Hell would likely freeze over before Lindsey would appear on a Stevie solo album... so we can cross that idea off the list! :p

What I'm guessing might be happening is Stevie is talking all this forward movement from her new solo project, and is attempting to see if it can be transferred to making another Mac album happen as well. She very likely has songs left over from her new solo project that she feels would be good Mac tunes. We also know for a fact she's feeling more creatively inspired than she has in 3 decades. We all recognize how unhappy she was with Say You Will, and it's safe to say she won't want Fleetwood Mac's legacy to end with that album. Perhaps she's simply laying the groundwork for a Mac album while she's inspired to do so. Maybe she wants to show Lindsey some of her songs, and see if he could have a rapport with Dave in a producer capacity?

^Who knows, perhaps these rumblings of the Mac touring this summer are true... and it's to back a new album. We do know that Stevie and Lindsey have both insisted on an outside producer if another album were to be made. That's where Dave fits in the puzzle for sure. I don't know how likely it would be that a Mac album is secretly being recorded right now, though. True, I did forget they cooperated for Thrown Down, which ended up being shelved from Trouble In Shangri La and was reincarnated for Say You Will. It's certainly possible Lindsey leant a hand on Stevie's new album, but if that's so, why haven't we heard about it? We heard from Sheryl Crow beforehand that Stevie and Lindsey had collaborated for Thrown Down. Furthermore, why would Lindsey be involved in post-production on a Stevie album? Why would Stevie be "going back to work" if her album was in post-production anyway?

The reason I'm skeptical Lindsey is involved on Stevie's new album is because there's really no precedent for it outside of Thrown Down... which didn't end up making TISL anyway. I mean it's possible Lindsey would want to have his say on the mixing of a song he was involved with for Stevie's new album, but I just can't see him taking that kind of interest, or Stevie letting him be that involved for that matter.

He played guitar on "I Miss You"....

But, my point is that he may go by and hang out and we wouldn't know that or need to know that. I'm sure Stevie values his opinion regardless of how everyone wants to say otherwise.

Dave saying he's working with them is exciting though. It does sound like Lindsey may be playing on something.

Sorry. In one of the comments on "Get Stevie on Oprah", they say "A friend heard Lindsey Buckingham on Mark & Brian state that he and Stevie are going to update their debut album & hopefully tour together."

But now that I listened to the interview, it sounds like the same old same old, "one day" crap. So nothing new. Sorry.

Basically, someone reposted Dave's tweet and then mentioned a friend of theirs had heard LB on Mark & Brian discussing the possibilities of a BN release and tour. Then, others comments followed, someone mentioned they had put a bug in Lori's ear about Frozen Love on the last tour... that kind of thing...no confirmations.

As long as we get Stevie's solo album first, I'll be thrilled. I just don't want to think of Stevie's solo material being spliced into a Mac record in the way Lindsey's Gift Of Screws material was. I want to see what Stevie's has to say after a decade-long solo absence... and if we get another Mac album, I want it to be a new effort from the ground up.

Well, if this was FM-related, wouldn't Mick have to be a participant? After all, it's just a meeting with Lindsey and Stevie. And therein lies the difficulty with all of this. When was the last time Lindsey and Stevie got together voluntarily, in the same room no less, and it wasn't FM-related? Or at least Mick-related. Those two frenemies would never get together just to braid each others hair and gossip about boys. There is something afoot. And since Stevie's album is in post-production, I doubt that Lindsey would be laying down guitar tracks now at this late stage, especially since she's already had Mike Campbell, Waddy and Dave handle guitar duties already. My theories:

-Mick has already vetted Dave and is giving him the thumbs up for working on the next FM album. Stevie is arranging this meet-n-greet to get Lindsey's buy-in.

-S&L are finally serious about re-releasing Buckingham Nicks and want Dave to handle remixing duties and/or production on some new BN tracks.

-Stevie is being asked to contribute b/u vocals on Lindsey's album, but she won't do it unless Dave is there to oversee it.

-Dave is working on a one-off track (for a soundtrack, benefit, etc.) and is asking S&L to help out.

-The record company has listened to the album and they don't hear a single. They've asked Stevie to come up with one and they've decided it's going to be an S&L duet.

-They're going to go on a triple bill tour next year and they are figuring out how to split the gate.

This is fun!

Totally agree. It's been too long, I want 12-14 new Stevie solo tracks. This has to be a session or meeting about a possible collaboration on Stevie's or Linsdey's solo record. Stevie has too much vested in this project, it would seem, to just throw it all away and do a Fleetwood Mac effort at this point. Perhap's Stevie played her new record for Lindsey and he was impressed enough to have a meeting about the next FM record w. Dave or something. Hmmmm all the possibilities, this is gonna drive us crazy. Like Dave S said....were all in for a rollercoaster ride, just wait.:p

I bet they are working on a track for one of their solo albums. Maybe Stevie wants Lindsey's input on China Doll (yes, I'm convinced it's on the new album) or Lindsey wants Stevie's vocals for She Smiles Sweetly.

Ugh, this utterly confuses me. Even if Mick vetted Dave, you would think they would bring him in to meet the band, not just have a one off evening with Stevie and Lindsey. Unless of course they decided in Oct that they want to do an album next year so they are looking at producers and Lindsey picks one and Stevie picks one and then they record a duet with both producers separately and see which songs turns out better. Or idk! I doubt Dave would be producing any song on Lindsey's new album. Perhaps Stevie has done like she has done before (Crystal and Long Distance Winner) and decided to pull out a BuckinghamNicks song for this album, but this time she chose Frozen Love and knows it won't be the same without Lindsey. I guess we shall see!

I would love if Dave was helping them rerelease BN, especially if her did it like Platinum Weird's "Make Believe" album! However, in Lindsey's recent interview, he said the masters were in a box somewhere which sounds more like "Oh they are in storage somewhere, one day we will get to them" instead of "ZOMG THEY ARE IN MAH LIVINGROOM READY TO BE REMASTERED!" and Dave said it was a "special song" so I don't think special song= rerelease of BN. I think they are either recording a new version of an old BN song for Stevie's album, or a new song Stevie wrote that she thinks will be great with Lindsey. One thing that interests me tho is this twilight song she wrote. Perhaps this song isn't going to be on her album, but she is planning on recording it as a duet with Linds and vetting it to Summit for use in the newest Twilight movie. But who knows. Damn these people!

Seconded.

But, I don't think Lindsey would give any real inclination if they were/are working on it. Especially nothing as specific as "they are in my living room". He would make it a much more complicated answer. Something like: "They are residing in the residuals of my emotional psyche waiting for the proper influx of the meeting of time and space in which Stevie and myself can coordinate an assembling of ourselves and therefore allowing the place of keeping to be revealed and at that point, we can unite together in a mutual purpose of merging our thoughts and ideas regarding the said masters and perhaps even vocalize anew with an energy that represents today, allowing all the cycles to be complete in a way that honors where we started and that is in keeping with the people we are today, hopefully reconciling the past with the present and even the future with a lot of love as a subtext...and then we'll probably do a tour together too." ;)

PS - who is Tony Quinn and why did he get to sit in that session and who did he go to dinner with??? (from twitter: @tonyjquinn: great afternoon listening to Lindsey and Stevie work on a special song for her new album - and a big THANK YOU fo the wonderful dinner)

LOL,

Don't forget that Lindsey would have to look at his complex and convoluted emotional history and see if he could bring anything to the table, because he is currently working on a solo project and the politics of the band might get in the way

Haha

If this is for Stevie's new album, it makes me happy and irritated at the same time. Happy in that Lindsey is going to be on the album, and irritated that the recording process is still going on...I'm really thinking this March 1st "release date" isn't going to happen. I hope I'm wrong!

I don't think this is going to hold up the album at all. In this day and age, it's not a big deal to add a couple overdubs to a track. Last I heard, Dave and Stevie were only in the mixing stage on the album, so the tracks are still works in progress to a large extent anyway. If they were already into mastering and this happened, I'd be more concerned.

I wonder what the song could be. None of the titles we heard about seem like obvious candidates. I'm guessing Lindsey is performing on one of the unidentified vault songs from the mid-1970s because he would already be connected to it from back then. "The Dealer"? "If You Were My Love"?

Lindsey did a lot of background vocals for Chris and never called it a duet -- and vice versa.

It's funny that even though I think I know Lindsey's voice (heaven help me if I don't), I sometimes have a hard time hearing him on background vocals outside of FM. Like Magnet and Steel, I don't hear him.

I swear, for years I thought a black female was singing harmony on Christine's "Who's Dreaming The Dream." it wasn't until I read the liner notes when I made the connection with Lindsey.

I hear Lindsey clear as day on "Magnet.". He does a number of solo " ooh... ooh ooh ooh-oohs."

I definitely hear Lindsey screaming on Egan's Where's the Party, if that entitles me to any form of redemption.

Ears are funny, because I've heard people say that they can't hear Stevie on Over My Head. Sure, they hear her live, but not on the studio version. And I'm like, "What?"
She is nearly all I hear on that song.

I hear everything coming together on that song and I think this is where Fleetwood Mac began. Don't kill me Chili:lol:.

While out for my morning walk today I was thinking this very same thing. Especially because I don't want to deal with Winter. So if March was here It'd be that much closer to Spring. I was thinking that by Stevie giving those interviews in August about this new album and not releasing it till March it probably is a good thing because it builds up our anticipation more.

""@jblogg Jeremy Welt SVP of New Media at Warner Bros Records had the opportunity to hear a playback yesterday of new music from Stevie Nicks... Was it the whole album? I wonder what his thoughts are on what he heard?

This is what I believe as well. When I read the SVP of new media for Warners leak he was at a playback for Stevie's new record the other day. It appears that they are now listening and staging how they can market the record. Stevie is notorious for not announcing official release dates until they are confirmed (which is usually a couple months before it drops). I too think we will get official word sometimes @ mid - January, along with more details. And suspect the new record will drop sometime in March (if not March 1st), which gives her a month to do media interviews and then go into rehersals for a Spring/Summer tour with Dave probably starting in June. Although I would love for her to start doing dates as early as April/May in smaller venues.

It's all coming together:blob2:. It seems the most talked about song has been Italian Summer, I wonder if this is a strong contender for lead single.

At this point I would be happy if she or Dave just confirmed the title before January...That would make it seem even more real. Until we get all the specific's. It seems so close now. To think we have been talking about this since late Febuary 09' when Dave 1st tweeted he was writing with Stevie. It's really flown by.

Somebody on different site has already heard Italian Summer and they weren't knocked out by it. Infact, they didn't like her vocal and said the song reminded them of I Miss You and Silver Girl. They did think the production was really good—a background of strings and really pretty music.

Precisely. You can be a fan of an artist without loving every single thing they do. I don't understand the need to dismiss and/or call someone names who's simply sharing their views. I thought that's what the whole point of message boards was: sharing knowledge and opinions for the purpose of debate.

Secondly, there are people in the world who get off on raining on people's parades and/or getting attention (narcicissism, much?). Given the tight secrecy surrounding this project and the paranoia of the music industry today, I find it hard to believe that anything like this is able to leak so easily to a fan.

On the off-chance that this person really did hear it (again, doubtful), and really didn't like it, I still think going around the internets and trashing it is a pretty d*ck move when nobody else has had a chance to formulate their own opinions about it.

Somebody on different site has already heard Italian Summer and they weren't knocked out by it. Infact, they didn't like her vocal and said the song reminded them of I Miss You and Silver Girl. They did think the production was really good—a background of strings and really pretty music.

I love both of these songs, so I'm okay with that! :blob2:

They didn't really "trash" it. Just said they personally didn't think it was a "radio hit" but the piano was beautiful. It was obviously an unmixed copy if the story is true, judging from the statement about Stevie's voice being "hoarse and low". But, the person was excited to have heard it and the music moved them to tears - and they didn't say it was because it was horrible, just that it wasn't "catchy". But, it was different from anything they had heard Stevie do... ... they did not say the entire thing reminded them of SG & IMY - just the guitar part...maybe Lindsey is playing on it?

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that the story is true... although I do wonder why the friend in the story (who works for a radio station in Atlanta) was sent a clip of the unmixed song from Clear Channel. Seems like that would be a stupid way of promoting something - sending out a rough copy like that.

I guess we'll know for sure if Italian Summer ends up having this line in it: "he was her lover on her Italian summer...a dreamer and ______, running away..."

Silver Girl has a decent enough melody that you can hum along to, and the arrangement is pretty. I think most are turned off by the lyrics and their direct connotation to Sheryl Crow. On the other hand I cannot express enough love for "I Miss You". The chorus is pure ear candy, and is a good example where Stevie spins self indulgent lyrics to gold. I think it had the makings of a third or fourth single from TISL. So If Italian Summer is similar in style with good lyrics and a good melody. I will definitely enjoy this track. I suspect the musical accompaniment will be much more sophisticated than both. In the end we probably wont even be comparing these songs.

The post sounded truthful. Everyone keeps saying they sent this promoter a rough copy, or unfinished copy in hope that the poster is wrong. Why would they do that? He's a promoter. Wouldn't they want him to be excited by the project?

I think what bothers people is that this is supposed to be the big single from the album. I Miss You was emotional nice song, but not a first single. Neither was Silver Girl. Hope Italian Summer is better now and worthy of first single status. It should knock you out. Maybe it iwill now, but judging from the recent past, maybe not.

Think back to Stevie's comments. Basically, I think we are getting a lot poems with backing music. Dave is sorta just rolling with her poetry, letting her have her artistic say. They are throwing some different things in the mix, but I think we are getting the epic poetry stuff and not first singles.

When I read the posters comment, my heart sank. I was no longer excited by the project either. But some of the best albums ever, like Joni's Mitchells Blue or the Indigo Girls' first album, never had a single on them.

how do we know Italian Summer is going to be a single?

Exactly. She has referred to "Italian Summer" as a beautiful love song, but she never said it will be the new single. The only reason people are assuming it to be the new single is because there has been so much talk about it. Honestly, this was the first new song we were told was on the record. The reason I believe it has had so much talk is probably because it was the first song they completed, therefore they all mentioned Italian Summer because it was in complete song form, rather than some of the other songs that will be on the album but they had not quite figured out the entire song at that time.

Also, as far as whether or not the song is good is complete opinion. The person who heard it may not have liked it, but David Wild said it is one of top three songs ever. I think there is a pretty large gap between the two views, so perhaps this is one of those songs we just have to judge for ourselves.

Because they wouldn't pitch an album cut to a radio person...

Personally, songs don't have to be "singles" for me to like them. However, I remember how Stevie worked so hard to make sure "Say You Will" was radio friendly. I'm pretty sure after all these years in the business she has some idea about how the whole works and the importance of making sure your album has songs that are single material. Do I think that her first inclination is to write singles? No. But, she does know that it's necessary. The trick is the balancing the two in a way that makes both the record label and the artist happy.

No, the person didn't actually say he/she didn't like Stevie's voice - only that Stevie sounded "very hoarse and low" and also the only reference to I Miss You and Silver Girl was specifically in the guitar parts - per the person's post. The post went on to say that the music was different from anything they had heard Stevie do before and that the piano was beautiful and they were moved to tears...

The person who heard the demo posted on Seven Wonders. He/she said the song started with strings and guitar and had beautiful music especially piano bits. Apparently he/she didn't find it especially melodically catchy but was still moved to tears in part because he/she was listening to a new Stevie song. The lyrics "he was her lover...Italian summer" or some such were the only ones that stuck in his/her head. Similar in atmosphere to Silver Girl or I Miss You. Stevie's voice is described as especially low and hoarse - maybe because it was a demo and altered to sound that way rather than as a full production-ready package.
I would have cut and pasted it all here but I am not sure if that is legal or not.

The person has a friend who was a former A&R at WB, now works for a classic rock station in Atlanta. The friend said that Clear Channel sent this clip over, the clip was 1:10 long. The person told the friend over dinner how excited he/she was about Stevie doing a new album and that's when this clip was brought up. The friend had the clip on their laptop in the car and gave the person a listen.

What I thought of, and what I was feeling like, was...

Can't wait for this new record.

It's more disappointing than shocking to see that Dave is now alluding that Stevie's new record will most likely not meet the March 1st target date. Who knows, maybe they want to release it closer to when Stevie will be hitting the road from a promotional viewpoint.

The record is done. And now it's out of Stevie and Dave's hands, and in the clutches of Warner's executives and marketing dept. So I'll wager that the record will be released sometime between April thru June based on Dave's tweet. Ugh! Just get the record out, and start alerting the fan's and the general public alike when to expect it. Stevie is going to be 63. This record will not be competing in a big way with other major releases from newer and popular artist's this spring. Release it and let the chips fall where they may.

I was dreaming that she would release it on time and we might see another Grammy appearance. Just before she walked up to present an award there would be an announcement of her upcoming long awaited record from this rock and roll legend! What great exposure that would be for her and the record. Sorta like when she did the blockbuster award show before TISL was released. But then I woke up! Silly dreamer, you cannot know a dream till you've known the nightmare.:distress:

 Brilliant.

Not Neal? So interesting, the changing of the guard. But, I don't care who snaps it - Karen, Kristen, Dave, ...I even took to "tweeting" specifically to ask for visual evidence of this event. And still I hope...

Well, whether the album comes out in March or April, it has to be released by the time they begin preparing to go on tour in late spring. Stevie is also a fan of May release dates, but i'm hoping that we don't have to wait that long.

Louie, Danny Z. isn't an empty Live Nation suit. He and his company (going back to the Evening Star days) have been promoting Stevie/Fleetwood Mac for over 30 years. If he didn't like what he heard, he either wouldn't have said anything or would have made a generic compliment.

To that point, here's a followup post (4 hours ago, no longer in Stevie's presence) from him-

^^Well, if nothing else, it confirms that we will have at least an hours worth of new Stevie music. :blob1: I don't know this guy or his intentions, but I agree that if he didn't have anything nice to say, he wouldn't have said anything. Also, if he was really blowing smoke up everyone's arses, and if the album was a total disaster after all, his credibility would be called into question; he would never hear the end of it. And being just a little bit outside of Stevie's circle of minions and sychophants, there is no reason not to believe him.

All this being said, I think it's strange that this album is finished, finis, finito, kaput, in the can, done, fork-stuck-in-it, yet it doesn't have a title or a release date. And we'd better start seeing tweets from Dave from the set of the first video soon! We do know how Stevie loves her reshot close-ups and re-dubbed vocals for "live" performances! :p

The whole lack of title or release date has concerned me, too. I'm thinking Warner is probably scratching their heads saying 'what do we do with HER this day and age?' But who knows, it's entirely possible she's using this album to shop new record deals. Which would explain a lack of a release date, and she'd more than likely let a record company have a say in naming the album too (she seems to like to give those around her choice bits of power/control... I suppose so they feel invested in her). Truthfully, I can't see Stevie straying from Warner, though. She's built her entire career with them, and I'm guessing she feels obliged/indebted to them.

In any event, thanks for sharing that info, Luke. I'm still pretty wary of this project for whatever reason, but I'm trying to realistically hope for the best at the same time. I guess we'll just have to WAIT ()and see what Stevie hath wrought. Hopefully we'll get that chance next year... but with this woman, you just never know! :p

i reallllllly hope Stevie gets a Makeover for the new album. Not like a Cher or Madonna makeover, but maybe a new haircut and gets a gay man to go through her wardrobe and tell her "No" to a few things. I am getting a little tired of the stagnant 1997 Stevie she has stuck with.

Well I just felt the need to throw a little GRATITUDE into the mix. Yeah, it's somewhat disappointing that this isn't coming out in March but realistically, I never thought it was going to be released in March in the first place. Is it a bummer I'm gonna have to wait a few more months? Yeah, it is. But I've waited over 10 years for new Stevie music so a few more months isn't going to kill me. Because I know that at some point, very soon, I am going to be holding a new Stevie Nicks CD in my hands. This is a hell of a lot more than I had for the past 9 plus years. So I'm really grateful that Stevie has recorded another solo CD. I didn't think this was ever going to happen. So I cherish this knowledge and wait. And whenever it ends up coming out - April, May, June or God knows when, I'm gonna have that moment when it's just me and that new Stevie Nicks CD in my hand. And it's gonna be awesome.

Perfectly stated, and I could not agree more!

I definitely don't look at it in terms of gratitude... more than anything, I'm severely peeved it's been a decade. Yet Stevie loves to throw around the 'prolific' banner to describe herself. However, I am keeping in mind it's been 10 years, so what are a couple of more months? It happens when it happens. Hopefully this album will be released, period (I'm worried we don't have a title or release date due to lack of a record company)... and it'll fulfill all of our hopes and dreams when it does :).

Too many people like to complain.

I agree 100%.
So what if it's a couple of months late?

At least she's giving us something.

She doesn't have to record this album (Which I am looking forward too) at all.

Too many people like to complain.

That kinda sounds like a complaint to me! :xoxo: Welcome to the board. We're all just a bit wound up waiting for new Stevie and Mac music. To quote Mick from the Dance: "It's been a looooong time!"

See? That's a train of thought I just can't subscribe to. Stevie hasn't put out new material with regularity since the 1980s. We've had the prospect of new Stevie/Mac albums waived in our faces by her for years, yet we've been neglected by her for a full decade now. Despite that, Stevie still has the braggadocio to call herself prolific. In the meantime her live performances have become increasingly indifferent, and riddled with cover songs no Stevie fan is interested in. Then Stevie lashes out at her fans saying they no longer buy her music and rails against trading her unreleased music. But when she gets around to recording something which is half written by another artist, we're supposed to just lap it up and be grateful? I adore Stevie, I truly do, but being a fan of her for decades just really pushes my personal allegiance to her.

For what it's worth, I hope this album comes out on time, I hope it surpasses all our wildest dreams, it sells remarkably well, and she finally gets the industry recognition she deserves. I really do hope we all get our Stevie cake, and can eat it too.

I don't give up hope for a March release, at all. Maybe Dave was trying to build a little tension and drama? How's his documentary coming?
If it isn't March 1, I think we'll still see it during the month. I think she needs it out before April so that the tour can get booked well. Especially if the album is really good, and it may have potential to have legs and not peak in the first week and then decline to never rebound, they need to get it out to have it be a hit by the summer, when she hopes to tour.
Or not! I just hope for the best.
It was an entirely new way of recording an album! Ooooh!
Like hell it was :)
It's the same old sh*t she's pulled forever. Said with love!
She'll get it out in March. Dave dun't know everyting!
Or she won't, and he does!
Again, just hoping for the best.

It is pretty simple Louie, if you can't subscribe to that train of thought, then that is okay, you're opinion is just invalid. Your disappointments and skepticism will be written off as unnecessary complaints and bitterness!

On a serious note, I know Stevie doesn't owe us anything and I sure as hell am glad she is making a new album! I am grateful for everything Stevie has given us. But I have given her plenty of my money and my time and she has publicly made statements about her plans, I feel I am entitled to be disappointed when her statements become falsehoods. I'm not turning my back on Stevie and condemning her for not meeting the release date, but am I disappointed? Hell yeah! And SHE should be grateful she has fans who are disappointed they have to wait longer, she could have nobody waiting to buy it at all.

Hey Louie, thanks for your comment - it was good to hear your views :) (Yes, I appreciate others thoughts). But I have one question for you: Do you think, from what we have heard that this album will feature Stevie's more 'trademark' styled work, as opposed to what you mentioned?

Count me in as one who is grateful that anything at all is coming out. Personally, I love the period before the record comes out. It's all about the anticipation. In a blink, it'll all be over before we know it. The record will be out, the tour, all the hoopla will be a thing of the past and we'll be wishing we could go back to those 6 months before the record came out.

Yes, I agree it's been too long since she's done a solo record. At the same time, her best days have been long gone (like more than 20 years). IMO, her voice has detiorated a lot even since the early 90's. I already came to peace years ago that I appreciate what she has done in her career and if she never records again it would be ok with me. She's put her time in. You have to give her that. Also, am glad that she's alive and well. I'm not a serial optimist at all and tend to look at the glass as half empty sometimes but can you imagine if she had died years ago? We'd have absolutely nothing from her.

Maybe I'm in the minority because I was a fan the minute I heard SDMHA way way back and very quickly got hooked on her. I saw the WWD concert on HBO when it premiered and everything after. So, I kinda got to enjoy that prolific period. I respect everyone's opinions and I'd probably be bitching left and right if this was 15 years ago about her absence from recording. But, let's just remember she IS older and she's earned the right to enjoy life the way she wants and to take as long as she wants to record.

Just my opinion folks...Happy Holidays everyone!!!
