I agree that Constantine seems a bit unatural. I still kinda like him, but he comes off as (his mannerisms) as a Jim Morrison wanna-be. Does anyone else get that feeling? Not te way he sings, but the way he moves and stuff make me think of Val Kilmer in the Doors movie. I was thinking that last night. Could be the hair, too...
Yes, like he's doing a bad acting job. He's singing from outside of himself, too concerned about how he "looks". In other words, "posing". I did like his performance last night though! For some reason I liked that song for him.

You have to watch Carrie!! :blob2: That girl rocked "Alone" hardcore and I LOVE her voice. Simon gave her mad props and predicted she would win and sell more records than any other idol winner. Personally, I felt her performance last night was one of the best I have ever seen on AI...I dug it way more than Fansuckia's Summertime. :distress: Carrie is sweet, humble, beautiful and her voice is just stunning.
Constantine is really eye fu**ing the camera way too much for me. That over the top "I know I am sexy" schtick is getting on my last nerve. I know I used to like him but I got some sense. He is not great..but still cute. I like Bo but he was a schnoozefest last night.
Nadia is not my favorite and Scott? Get some humility man. He basically rolled his eyes at Simon as he was getting his critique. Listen and learn! And lose the damn greasy glasses. :p

Carrie sang the hell out of Heart's "Alone."
She sure did and I was SCRUTINIZING her every note too. When she came out I turned to my hubby and said, yeah right, this chick is going to sing my girl Ann Wilson's song, give me a break. But she pulled it off. I was eating crow after her performance.
Poor Nadia. Can someone say wrong song choice? At least wrong rendition of a song. I hated how they up-tempoed it and turned it into some reggae sounding disaster. Ugh. That song is meant to be a heart-wrenching ballad (a la Cindy Lauper's version) not a cruise ship fiasco. I love Nadia and I hope this performance doesn't get her axed. But I hear they're going to re-perform tonight? Great...does that mean the contestants whose votes didn't get screwed up get to re-perform? Can they pick different songs? I hope so...

Woooohooooo!!! Mikayla is finally gone!! It's about time. She took it very well, too, she didn't shed a tear. And her performance tonight was a million times better than Tuesday night. Still not that great, but alot better. Why do so many of them sound better after they've been voted off? Strange...
I can't believe Nadia was in the bottom 3! She wasn't as good as usual, but she was a hellava lot better than Anthony, and a few others. Oh well, at least she wasn't voted off.

Here's Carrie in Newscope
"Carrie Underwood, American Idol Favorite
"We're sorry America," said American Idol host Ryan Seacrest last week after a classic Mercury retrograde snafu mixed up the phone numbers for voting on contestants. The scandalous error actually boosted ratings for the popular FOX TV show, with some 27.5 million viewers tuning in. Ten contestants remain, and if you believe judge Simon Cowell, the winner will eventually be Carrie Underwood.
Carrie Underwood was born during the New Moon in Pisces (March 14, 1983; Fort Smith, AR; time unknown), the sign associated with faith. She's a Southern Baptist, and according to a neighbor, she sings at the local church regularly: "I can still remember her singing ‘Jesus Loves Me' when she was only 4 or 5 in front of the whole church."
No shrinking violet, Carrie is emboldened by Venus and Mars in self-assertive Aries. Venus here is given grace and poise with a trine to Neptune, and charisma and mass appeal with the opposition to Pluto. Mars is fortified by a trine to a lucky Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Sagittarius. With all of these planets in fire signs, she's become a show-stopping, confident, wonder woman.
The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is often a sign of fame and sudden celebrity. Over the next two months transiting Uranus is forming a square to this planetary pair, activating the natal potential. Uranus can also bring unexpected falls, but then transiting Saturn is forming a stabilizing trine to her Sun. Also, transiting Pluto is squaring her Sun, funneling the full force of the cosmos through her being. If she can handle the pressure, she will win."

Well, you can't get any more cliched once you choose a Whitney song or a Stevie Wonder song, but the same Etheridge song has been done so many times that it's just as cliched. The only one I've ever seen in the history of American Idol who chose a nice, unpredictable and eclectic mix of songs was Nikki McKibbin, and she wasn't even that good of a singer. Nikki was a cute little rocker, her voice was pretty weak, but she was certainly original. :o

I think they're all dull, so... It's rather painful to watch because they aren't performers, they're amateur singers and it bores me to tears. And none of them really have personality (Nadia does) and it makes for bad television.
Though it's worth it to see Paula act like a crack ho.

Paula is sooo not acting like a crack ho - crack ho's are jumpy, she's all relaxed and quaaluded out... :D "everythings great...ooo, did you see that cloud?" Painkillers, baby!
But yeah, Vonzell did well, I think she actually has the best natural voice in the competition, I just don't like her best.

See her at the Oscars (or maybe it was the Golden Globes)? I swear, she had the crack pipe stuffed down her rack. She was all jumpy on the red carpet and making weird faces when she was posing for the photographers.

Scott is the pits..those high notes were cringeworthy. Hubby actually thought he had a chapped lip, until I pointed out that it was his ridiculously thin mustache.
Carrie is my girl. I think she has the best voice out of all the contestants. Maybe not as much personality but she is sweet and humble and can sing like a star. I want her to win. I dig Nadia but I predict I would not like the type of music she will put out if she wins. (ala Fantasia..barf)
Vonzell is the most improved and has a great set of pipes. She will probably get a deal anyway, even if she doesn't "win"..as long as she keeps improving and picking decent songs.

You really think so?! I don't. I think she'd be creative and edgier than the other contestants. Actually, I was telling my hubby last night that I would actually listen to Nadia if she came on the radio---those other contestants? I don't think so. Actually, I can't think of any other Idol contestants that I'd actually listen to on the radio much less buy c.d.'s they put out. Except maybe for LaToya London--girl's got pipes! I think Carrie has a great voice but I can't stand Top 40 country music. I think if Carrie made it that's what she'd do and I wouldn't appreciate it at all. Her rendition of Alone was amazing, she should do more stuff like that. She's definitely got a voice!

Girlfriend's definitely on something---quaaludes or alcohol or a mixture of both I'm guessing. She is soooooo out of it! At one point last night Randy and Simon tried to cover something she said. They tried to move on really fast after one of her 'luded out comments. It was embarrassing!

She does, she looks awful a lot of times. I know what you mean. Except sometimes is cuts both ways. I appreciate the fact that they sang a song I love but then again I kind of scrutinize their performance all the more.
Yeah. I love "I Can't Make You Love Me." I was so mad that Constantine sang it because I'm ready to hate anything he does. Luckily he didn't totally butcher it the way Camille did "Yellow Brick Road", so I can still like the song. It didn't make me like him any more though. :( I have to say that I'm glad Randy finally called him out and acknowledged that he's not really a rocker but a theater guy. Maybe now he can stop pretending and start to give more genuine performances.
As for Nadia/Fantasia... I wouldn't have expected quite as stereotypical an R&B album from Fantasia either after her song choices in the competition. She did Bonnie R., Johnny Cash, and Berstein for goodness sake. I was expecting variety and creativity from the album too. I think it goes to show that the winner has little control over what they make him/her put on the album. Of course, maybe Fantasia wanted to do the R&B diva thing all along but was restricted from doing so in the competition by the weekly themes. I think I'm trying to say that while Nadia does really seem to be a cool rock chick, her album could be anything but. If she did put out a rock album, I'd definitely listen. I love her voice.
Poor Anwar. What has happened to him? He started out so strong and now he's struggling every week. And Bo is going to have to step it up.

I think the marketers must have figured that Reuben and Fantasia would appeal more to an R&B audience and made the song decisions based on what they thought would sell the most records to that target audience. They probably thought Kelly could sell to a broader pop/rock/R&B audience. I think Nadia could have that Kelly-type appeal if they'd allow her to. It's probably a moot point anyway, because I don't think Nadia will win. The producers probably want Carrie to win so badly so they can appeal to the pop/modern country fans too. They want all their bases covered so they can make the most $$$.

No Ouster for 'Idol' Finalist Over Arrest
NEW YORK - Scott Savol, one of the remaining nine finalists on "American Idol," was once arrested for domestic violence, but the Fox network said the arrest won't cost Savol his shot at becoming an "Idol."
Although several past contestants have been booted for not disclosing arrests, Savol was "forthcoming to the `American Idol' producers and the network regarding his misdemeanor" and "the situation did not warrant his disqualification," Fox said in a statement Thursday.
Ohio police documents posted on The Smoking Gun Web site said Savol, now 28, had a confrontation with Michele Martin, the mother of his son, in February 2001. According to a Shaker Heights Police Department report, the couple had decided to separate, but when Savol arrived at Martin's mother's home to collect his belongings, he called Martin "several vulgar names," "pulled an engagement ring off her finger" and "stated he was also going to take their son."
When Martin threatened to call police, Savol shoved her, pulled the phone from her hand and then threw it at her, striking her in the chest and causing the phone to break, the police report said.
Savol pleaded to a reduced misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, was fined $500, ordered to complete an anger management or domestic violence program, placed on a year's probation and sentenced to a suspended 20-day jail term, according to the Web site.

ITA - apparently the diff here is that Scott told AI about this right away. Frenchie didn't (even though that was totally legal & it was so stupid that they let her go.) That other guy from season 1 or 2 tried to hide his criminal record, so they kicked him off (I seem to recall that he actually had a warrant or something, or it was a case happening at that time, not in the past...)
Whether the show boots him or not, I'm sure he won't be getting many votes anymore :o

I agree somewhat, I don't agree with abuse whatsoever. I just know that when tempers flare, sometimes you do something split second. Like throwing a phone. It could have gotten more violent, but didn't. She was not hurt, maybe her feelings but not physically, so to me thats not abuse. Just my opinion.

No, I enjoyed her, though the first song didn't sound as good live as it does on the album and I think Tamyra's "I Believe" is unbearably cheesy. However, she displayed energy, personality and a voice that no one on this season (or any season before) has come close to. Of course she went over the top, but that's what she does. I also thought she looked fine.
Ryan Seacrest is a little guy--any female standing next to him who is tall and remotely big-framed looks huge beside him. Anyone standing next to this season's unnaturally skinny Celena, Amanda, and Nadia would look practically obese! At any rate, the size of Fantasia's booty is not a big deal; nor does it matter if she's been eating fried chicken or caviar to make it that size. :)
I know Fantasia's not for everyone, but her performance last night made me miss the fun and spunk she brought to the competition. Her "yeah yeah yeahs" got old after a while but I couldn't wait to hear what songs she'd choose and how she'd perform those songs every week. These constestants are really boring in comparison.

I'm so glad Pat B. makes an appearance in this episode. Carrie is not doing too bad! I hear the end sucks, though. Simon was right, it was like watching a kitten trying to be a tiger. that's a hard song, though.

I actually like Constantine now. I didn't think he was that great at first but the last few weeks he's been really kicking butt. I would be kinda cool if Constantine and Bo were the final two but Bo hasn't been that spectacular the last few weeks. I still really like him though.
This week Scott REALLY needs to go. He is so boring. Anthony needs to go to but at least he was better this week.

At least Anthony is a cute bottom boy. He needs to be bent over and done like hes in jail, then maybe he will sing on key then lol.
Carrie SUCKED!!! I cringed through most of her peformance, GAG! Vonzell could have a hit with that song today. Is it me or did anyone feel like eating an icecream cone after that lol? That song just reminds me of the summertime. The wifebeater was pretty good but i cant stand him. He and his fake hip hop accent need to go! Constantine stole the whole show!
At least Nashville Star rocks everyweek. I wanted Tamika Tyler to win though damnit!

Honey, please tell me you're joking O_o
Paula, sit down and snort more coke. Thanks. God, she's annoying.
For a minute - just a minute - I thought you were talking about me! :p I was like "but I don't do..." Then I recalled Miss Abdul's slurring speech & stumbling gait last night & realized you were addressing that Paula.
I *heart* Nadia & she did great, but where the hell did she pull that song out of? I've never heard it before. Doesn't bode well for my dear Nadia. :distress:
Anthony, Scott or Anwar can go. :wavey: I really hope Nadia stays cuz I don't want it to only be 2 girls. :( Constantine - shockingly good.

I didn't think that was very neat how Simon directly compared Vonzell with Nadia.
Yeah, that was weird wasn't it? I caught that and thought, hmmmm, poor form Simon.
I thought Carrie rocked some of the song, but those parts she took high at the end of the verse were BAD with a capital "B." Why did she do that? It almost ruined the song for me. She can rock out that's for sure, but I'm afraid she has no "rock instinct" so sometimes she screws up the rock songs a bit.
What happened to my Nadia? That song was piss-poor! No offense to Crystal Gayle or anything, but why that song? Not only was it obscure, (which is fine if the song is good) but it was BORING too! I hope this doesn't mean the end for her. :(

I knew we were in for something when Ryan said "You will NOT believe who is in the bottom three" like we were gonna be shocked.

I started out liking Scott in this competition, but this last few weeks his mouth & "tude" are annoying me badly. I was hoping he would be sent home tonight.
I was panicking because I didn't vote for Bo last night. He's been the only one I have voted for. I just got lax and thought aw, he'll be fine. I won't be doing that again.

I didn't think he even really did much better. I've had enough of his orange face. What is wrong with his make-up person?
I'm definitely sad to see Nadia go. I actually agreed with Paula when she said it's a treat to see what Nadia will be wearing each week (or something to that effect). She has looked great so consistently, except for the mohawk week, which wasn't even that bad. Her dress last night was gorgeous. I hope it's not the last we see of her...Hey, if John Stevens can make an album, Nadia certainly can. I might even buy it.
Even though I love Bo's style and like the songs he has chosen in their original form, I think he needs to step outside his Southern Rock mode in order to get the votes he needs. The people who are watching the show must not be big fans of that type of music. It's the only reason I can imagine that he'd be in the bottom three.

Good article on Nadia - I AGREE!!!
Miami Herald (http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/living/11378965.htm)
"The theme was Songs From the Year You Were Born. Hence, Nadia, born in 1977, the year of Rumours, Linda Ronstadt and Saturday Night Fever chose . . . When I Dream. Come again? Ah, a Crystal Gale recording. Peaked at No. 84 on Billboard's Hot 100. As she explained to host Ryan Seacrest after a lukewarm response from the judges, ``It's a song about dreaming and I've always been a big dreamer.''
If Nadia had to sing a song from that year about dreaming she should have selected Fleetwood Mac's Dreams, a No. 1 hit. It would have showcased the rock edge in her voice and most voters would have recognized it. The obscure Gale song has a forgettable melody and while Nadia sang it with more soul than it deserved, judge Simon Cowell was correct as he sniffed, ``That was the equivalent of musical wallpaper.''

Scott sucks and has an ego problem, I think. Anthony is boring. Vonzell is adorable and is great, but she ain't gonna win. Bo is slippin' and better rock the frick out or people will go over to Con's side...they already have been.

Carrie's got a confidence problem or something. She just doesn't put it out there. Her voice is phenomenal when she lets go with it. She was my favorite but I think Vonzel has passed her. Vonzel is wonderful.
Constantine is very talented and would be a deserving winner but I would rather see Bo up there. Constantine needs to get real and stop posing.

Really, she should've done GDW. That song is more challenging. And she could've rocked it with her throaty little voice. The yowl at the end alone would've gotten her major points. *sigh* she was my fave. At least now I really, really, won't feel like watching it. :D
