Okay, yeah, back to business. :) While it's true that Melinda didn't get much exposure earlier in the show, neither did Aloha--I didn't know who either of them were before the other night. The difference was that Melinda's performance, song choice, and personality were forgettable, while Aloha stood out. I also didn't see much of Jessica, Lindsey, or Sarah early on, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention. :shrug: I hope the people that get kicked off in the future are more gracious--I think this group was just pissed because they had to be the first off, the most unpopular. Being first off means they will be the first forgotten. They probably thought they could hang in there for a while and be maybe 5th most unpopular or something. :laugh:

So, I think the audience did a good job this week. Some of the mediocre people are gone and all of the talent remains. I am already looking forward to next week. :D

I agree with all of this. So far, the audience did a good job in voting people off. Janay should have definately went, though, but she better get 100 times better, or be voted out next week.

At my house, it's the 6 AM "knock stuff off the vanity" game. Oy...why can't he just meow when he wants out? It's either knock things off tables or he goes into what I call "Indy 500" mode - doing laps inside the house at 200 mph - just a fur blur!

Haha. Mufasa has been in rare form for the past 14 hours or so. He was a big time fur blur last night. He gets that crazed, wackadoo look in his eyes and then just bolts. He attacked my hand this morning when I went to pat him. My roommate had to kick him out of her room last night. He shredded the toilet paper roll this morning. Basically he is acting like he did when he was a kitten. He still sort of is at a year and a half but he has calmed down. Something has gotten into him lately though!

Sometimes when I'm getting ready for work in the morning, my kitty gets pissed off at me. He'll come up to me and meow really loudly and if I take one step, he'll wrap his front paws around my ankle and bite me. I have to do this matador "toro toro" thing w/ a towel and kinda shoo him out of the room and shut the door. He gets so angry! What causes that? He's been fed, he just went outside, his litter box is clean. Maybe he knows I'm getting ready to leave the house again and he's mad about that cuz he'll be bored. ?

Oh, and I love the crazy, wackadoo mode. It always makes me laugh!

Me too! Good thing I Tivo it, though. Like so many said earlier, what's up with that "hey, stand up and be eliminated....no wait, it's not any of you, it's you, Judd ! Ridiculous. I notice that no one on this thread has commented on the "really cool way" they eliminated folks last night. Instead, it's mostly, "what's up with that ****?" I mean, sure, I'm up for a little suspense, but spare us a tad of the drama, mmmkay?

Ok, I realize I may be being a little harsh about the elimination process, but I generally hate it anyway, especially near the end of the season--so emotional! So I Tivo, then fast-forward through the cheesy BS. Which is the entire elimination show, right? :rolleyes:

Yep, and I agree, Janay needs some improvement, or she'd better be outta there!!

Melinda sucked - voice and attitude. I don't care how much exposure she thinks everyone else got over her -you chose the song, honey. And it was a bad one. ;)

I did feel bad for Sarah. The judges kept saying that she's a really good singer, but I agreed that song was really blah. Barely 5 or 6 notes in the whole thing - definitely not what you want to choose to highlight your talent.

Not too upset about either guy leaving either. I was really worried they were going to dump Anwar at first (I had that same fear with Nadia too.) Constantine is really pissing me off, he seems really self centered. I mean, I know it's a competition & like Simon says, "let's not pretend you're all best friends here." But geez, you can at least clap for the other people. :rolleyes:

Can't wait for next week either, Curtis. :wavey:

PAULA!!!! You did not just insult Constantine! He did hug a few people at the end...I will have to check out his demeanor more and see if he is being rude next week. He really needs to lose the jean jacket and ripped up knees. I mean Bo is a rocker and he looked nice in what he picked out to wear. For some reason I have a sick fascination with these bad boy rocker dudes......: >)

oh and Melinda's attitude sucked.

I am so freaking sick of Randy and Paula with the canned speeches! They are worse than Lindsey! My husband, who i not a big AI fan, I make him watch it with me...was commenting how every single time Ryan asks Randy for his critique, it is always "I dunno man, it was sort of pitchy..but I guess you worked it out". Then we have Paula.."I agree with Randy..it was pitchy and song selection is key but you know..you look beautiful".....wtf? This is a talent competition Paula, not a beauty pageant! Although Sarah did have gorgeous eyes and whoever does her eyebrows gets a 10 plus for the perfect arch!

Bo's performance tonight was the single best Idol performance EVER. Lately I've just been watching the show to hear Simon, but that performance has really reinforced my faith in cycles (wait from reinforcement I mean in the performances)

OMG! I saw that, too. Jen is a major B!*#@. Jerry seemed to really lover her. Hello? That song he wrote for her was amazing! You can tell he was holding back his tears and sadness for the cameras. She shouldn't have done the show when she doesn't know what she wants out of a relationship. At first, I thought it was Andrew's fault for their breakup awhile ago. Now I think she broke it off. I can tell she is dating someone else already. Hooch. :mad:

Yes, the Bobby Brown comment was right on. BUT I think Nikko did a great version of "Let's Get It On." That's right, there, I said it! Love the song, loved that vocal. Now what I did NOT love was Joe's lounge-singer "Let's Stay Together" debacle. He ruined one of my favorite songs. Sure, he was in tune, but it sounded really cheesy.

In general, I liked the song choices better this week, but "All Night Long?" Oh well, at least he didn't do "Dancin' on the Ceiling" :laugh:

And I'm sorry, but can't penalize Scott just cuz he looks like a sociopathic serial killer.

She's an idiot. I was soooo pissed off about that ending. It was such a crock for her to do that to him. For her to say "I thought this was mutual from our phone conversations." was crazy. How could she be that out of touch. She is the one who is the bad communicator. She cannot express what she wants or ask a direct question to save her life. I am so mad about that whole sham.

Plus the producers manipulate the situations a lot. For example, I suspect that the bachelors were instructed to say their piece first during the final rose ceremony and for Jen to just listen. This set John Paul up for total devastation. I don't think there was any need for that. Then it was very similar for Jerry with her not accepting the ring. Didn't she tell him that she did love him? I hope she goes back into anonymous life fast. :mad:

Ooh, yeah. I was embarrassed for Constantine. He's trying much too hard to be cool. Bo, on the other hand, is much more natural and more talented.

Please Mikalah, tone it done tonight. I hope Janay can relax. Maybe both of them need a tranquilizer or something. As for Lindsey, Amanda and Celena--Amanda and Celena are both waay too skinny. All I could think of last week when they were singing was that I wanted to give them both a sandwich. I think I like Lindsey's voice best of those three, but it's true that they all have been rather unimpressive.

This is a trainwreck so far and it's only 8:25. There's only one performance i've enjoyed thus far. Surpise...it's Mikalah and even she wasn't 100% vocally strong.

I didn't see the first girl...whoever that was. I like Mikalah's voice. She reminds me of a Toni Braxton crossed with Sade. I think as the competition goes on, she'll improve even more :nod: Oye...Nadia...what just happened, sweetie?

She has a good voice but she does sound very showtuney to me (and that's not a bad thing) so I don't know if that'll win her idol unless she steps it up a notch and shows some versatility.

Nobody really inspired me tonight. At least we can say that Janay did a little better than she did last week. A little, yes? And Mikalah kept her mouth shut. Her performance was subdued enough to let her talent come through. You gotta wonder what Nadia was smoking when she chose her song. :shrug: She's still one of my favorites. I'm still not feeling Carrie and Jessica, though Jessica did do well tonight.
I don't feel like voting because, like I said, no one inspired me. But, I'll be mad if the people I like get kicked off, so I guess I'd better.

I loved: Jessica (glorious,) Mikalah (shocked the hell out of me - she proved she can sing without doing her little act,) Vonzell (I thought it was really good, surprised the judges weren't impressed,) Nadia (Love her. She doesn't try to overdo it & oversing every damn word.)

Bad: Janay (looked like a deer in headlights,) Aloha (so out of tune,) Lindsey (I couldn't hear a damn word she sang.)

Ehh: Celena (although I thought the judges were a bit harsh,) Amanda (blah, boring, ugh,) and Carrie (I felt bad for her cuz she wasn't trying to "do Janis", she was singing Faith Hill's country version of that song from about 10 or 15 years ago. Not that that is a great version, but still. She was doing the country version, not the original.)

I really hope that Jessica, Carrie, Nadia, Vonzell & Mikalah stay in. I won't cry if any of the rest go. I voted for Jessica, Nadia & Mikalah. I tried to vote for Carrie but it was still busy, so I guess she'll be OK.

I like Carrie...but I hated her performance tonight. It made me sick that she did a Janis Joplin song and made it sound like moderm country :eek: That's just wrong in everyway. That Jessica chick irritates the hell out of me! I don't know what it is, she just bothers me. Janay was pretty bad again, better than next week, but not good. I think she will go and I wouldn't mind if her, Selena, Jessica or Lindsey goes. Or that girl with the long black hair. Over all I am not that impressed with the girls this year.

It was right that Joseph, David, and Celena went tonight. I only wish it had been Janay or Amanda, or even Lindsey, instead of Aloha. Hopefully Constantine will be terrible again next week and people will realize that he needs to go.
The half hour format for the results show was much better than the hour format of last week. There was too much time-wasting fooling around last week. And I didn't miss hearing the losers sing this week.

Like last year when the 3 best people were in the bottom 3, and everyone thought they were in the top. Sometimes I wonder if they pulled that stunt just for shock value. If so, it worked. Oh well. I agree with all of your statements. Especially the elimination thing "Hey, we just flushed your dreams down the toilet & told you you're not good enough - could you sing again?" This way was much quicker & better.

Anyway, Aloha was pretty out of tune this week, but I didn't think she deserved to go yet. :shrug: She was phenomenal week 1, I'm sure she would've improved as weeks went by. Lindsey better than Aloha? I think not.

And apparently Janay's getting the usualhigh school buddy vote - you know, the kids that have all night with nothing to do but call & vote repeatedly for their friend, whether he/she performed well that night or not (hi John Stevens :wavey: )

Tonight was the first time I've paid attention in awhile. Anwar!!!!!! One of my favorite songs of all time, he did good!!

I heard some dirt on Constantine- he used to date a co-worker's cousin. I guess they had a bad breakup and he got all psycho and she had to take out a restraining order on him. So, I don't like him anymore.

Carrie is not gettin much love around these parts. She has such a controlled voice...plus I like her downhome, sweet country girl schtick. :angel:
I think she has the best voice but not the best overall package. Nadia has a great attitude and comes off as more of a pop star but I still prefer Carrie's voice. Jessica? Not a fan. I think her voice is ok, but something about her rubs me the wrong way. Not sure what.
Bo is pretty awesome and I agree with Simon, its probably his competition to lose. :blob2: I hope he stays strong. I dig Anwar and Anthony too.
I still think Constantine is cute as a button, but boyfriend can't sing too well. Next to Bo, he looks REALLY bad. :sorry:

I think Carrie is incredibly dull too, and obviously I'm also not impressed with Jessica. I think a guy will win this year. I predicted Anthony a while back, and I think it's still possible, but he's not the one I want to win. I think it was too early for Simon to say that it's Bo's competition to lose. He's great, but a lot can happen in the next 12 weeks.

Okay, I'm not an AI fan at all, but I've been virtually forced to watch it because VOTE FOR LINDSEY! is being jammed down our throats around here. Yeah, yeah. I don't like her nearly as much as Nadia. She's my fave. I'm so glad Janay is gone because she must've had Selena rolling in her grave. But the worst was that Mikalah chick (however you spell her name). I have no tolerance for people ruining Sondheim. And I don't care that Babs is famous singing that song--it's Sondheim and that chick absolutely slaughtered it. Hardly any notes were friggin' on key! That was horrible to watch! :eek:

Anyone know how Fantasia's album sold? The only AI winner that I like is Kelly. I am not even that much of a fan of hers..but she does have a killer voice. Oh, I haven't been watching regularly, but Nadia. The boys ones aren't as interesting to me, but I like Bo (he's cute) but actually I like that Scott guy. I don't know why...there's something smooth about him, his voice flows and it doesn't look like he's trying to hard unlike the other guys - you know? I don't remember much about Mario...I thought the guy they let back in to replace him was cute, though, and I didn't think Mario was that cute...my opinions aren't very scientific, are they? :laugh: I like Anwar's hair, but I haven't liked most of the songs he's sang.

Me too, I <3 the boys! :blob1: :blob2: Bo "my future husband" Bice is my favorite. Except I noticed his wedding ring. @#$%! I enjoyed Bo's and Scott's performances the most last night. Though I love Nadia to death and she did look gorgeous, I think she over-performed her song. She put a little too much on it or something. And Anwar, though he also looked fabulous, was really dull with that song. I remember someone else performing it another year and I didn't like it then either. Simon was right, Anwar needs to change it up a little if he wants to avoid becoming completely boring.
Last night I decided to vote once for everyone I wanted to stay in the competition. So I voted for Nadia, Bo, Anwar, Vonzell, and Scott. Oh, and Nikko too--I loved the song he did. I don't mind that he's back, and I don't think I'll miss Mario very much. My husband said it might be the wrong time to do a Michael Jackson song, but I say that little Michael is a totally different person than grown-up, freakish Michael!

I personally wouldn't mind having MORE rockers on the show! It's interesting, I always wonder what the are going to sing every week. Especially Bo. They don't do the same songs that are done year after year. That and I am just a rocker kinda girl. :D

This is true. Any good singer can do a ballad. It takes more to rock, though. You need to really be able to perform, not just stand there.

This wasn't Anwar's best performance. I wasn't too keen on Bo's choice of "Time in a Bottle," but I think he did a great job with it.

Carrie sang the hell out of Heart's "Alone." She owned tonight's episode!

But I still voted for Bo, like, I dunno, a jillion times..... :p

I think Mikalah needs to be kicked off next. She sucked. The judges keep telling her to do something more youthful and she keeps singing these serious sounding songs. Plus she's annoying.

Carrie was definitely the best tonight. I thought Jessica was just ok; I'm not sure why the judges liked her so much.

I usually really like Nadia but she didn't do a good job singing Time After Time. Her hair was interesting. Kinda reminded me of a Grace Jones type of hairstyle.
I agree. Was jessica the one that sang Total Eclipse? Love the song, but again, I can sing it better than that...It's too bad Nadia couldn't kick that song out, cause it is a good song, and she is a good performer...*shrug*

I think Constantine is positioning himself to play David Cassidy in made-for-TV movie about the dark side of The Partridge Family. :distress: Seriously. My husband alreadysaid last week that his performance reminded him of a second rate Keith Partridge. And that is BAD. :laugh:

I haven't liked Carrie so far, but last night she was fabulous. The best. Nadia looked awesome but sounded terrible. Anwar makes me smile. Bo--eh, but I still love him. I meant to vote for everyone but Mikalah last night to try to put us all out of our collective misery, but I lost track of time and forgot. I hope the voters get it right.

I loved Carrie & Scott last night. I felt bad for Nadia, cuz this was not one of her better weeks. I still love her, though. I LOVED that hair! She is too cool for school.

I agree with Amber about Jessica - I was thinking "this isn't really that good, she's not as powerful as she should be..." and they tell her she was incredible. :shrug: She wasn't bad, but I didn't think she was great.

Bo did well, but bored me. Constantine - better than other weeks. :shrug: Anwar - ZZZzzzzZZZzzzz. Anthony & Mikalah were both out of tune. I'd prefer Mikalah to go first. :p

This is what was said about the voting thing on AOL this morning:

Fox has accidentally stumbled onto a way to squeeze an extra airing of American Idol onto its schedule: foul up the phone voting. That's what happened Tuesday night, when the show displayed the wrong call-in numbers for three of the contestants.

Voters who called the numbers listed for Anwar Robinson, Mikalah Gordon, or Jessica Sierra would have inadvertently registered support instead for Anthony Fedorov, Carrie Underwood, or Scott Savol. As a result, the error is forcing the first revote in Idol history.

Fox said in a statement that it would air a new hour-long Idol episode Wednesday night, adding that the show "will combine new live elements with encores of Tuesday's performances from the remaining 11 contestants." Fans will then be allowed to call in their votes on Wednesday night, while Tuesday's votes will be tossed out.

The results show that usually airs Wednesdays will then air on Thursday. This may prove an awkward solution, but it beats getting the Supreme Court involved.

Nadia rocks but I didn't like her on Time after Time and the hair wasn't that great of a choice. But I love her.

I would be happy if Bo (Bo Bo Bo!!!), Carrie, or Nadia won the competition. Everyone else can go. Oh yeah, I thought Jessica was pretty good on Total Eclipse but "pretty good" doesn't cut the check, Missy. :laugh:

I agree that Constantine seems a bit unatural. I still kinda like him, but he comes off as (his mannerisms) as a Jim Morrison wanna-be. Does anyone else get that feeling? Not te way he sings, but the way he moves and stuff make me think of Val Kilmer in the Doors movie. I was thinking that last night. Could be the hair, too...
