Great song!! I like Todd, as well. If you are looking for anything newer by him, try the CD Liars. It's different, but good!

Donna Lewis: In The Pink. Pandora radio played a song from this album, and I was blinking going THAT'S Donna Lewis?? What a great little album... reminds me a lot of Madonna's Ray Of Light. Very trancey... with some folksy and pop music thrown in... but with a strong electronic undercurrent. The album opener 'Ireland" is very, VERY Stevie. Darn good little album!

Awesome version of " Lee Shore "
Talk about perfect 2 part harmonies. Unreal, I saw them in 2001 at Jones Beach ( Stephen Stills ) was with them also, and they sounded just like this too. Even better because of the 3 part harmonies. Incredible.

I forgot about Willie's cover Hayley - thanks for posting, yes, Willie's version is something special. A very heartfelt delivery. While listening to it now I just remembered he sings the line "and I wish you all the love in the world, but most of all, I wish it FOR myself." LOL. I wonder if that was a slip - does he think that is what Christine sings or if he really meant to sing it that way?

Machine Head! Excellent choice.
I met them once - they are really nice, down to Earth guys. Robb Flynn gave me a hug & a kiss on the cheek, and I was very proud of myself for somehow managing NOT to melt into a puddle of goo on the blacktop, because that's one fine-lookin' man right there. I also managed not to splutter something like, "I'VE LOVED YOU SINCE I WAS 14!" or "I HAVE ALL YOUR RECORDS!" Whew.

Hi Travis! :) :wavey:
I love that he sings it that way - my mother is terrible about mishearing lyrics, it's one of our favorite family jokes - she always sings Songbird like that, with the "for myself" so it makes me smile when I hear it.
She still fights with me about Lindsey not being able to make up his mind - "You can go your own way / Don't go away"

Black Cow-Steely Dan
Mick
when my brother and i were little, we would sing this at the top of our lungs in the car. We thought it was the craziest song we'd ever heard.
"CAUSE ITS OVER NOW - DRINK YOUR BIG BLACK COW-AND GET OUTTA HERE!"
but really, i love that song. I've seen Steely Dan twice. Once when i was 8 in 2003 and then again in 2006. Best ever!

i have spent my whole life trying to figure out what that means LOL, my favorite song is F.M. Love it soooo much!
and my mom hates Steely Dan too. Says Donald Fagen is 'too ugly' to watch live. (The faces he make and everything.) My biggest wish was to see them last year, WITH Larry Carlton, but it didn't happen. :(

haha yeah, exactly! I'm a freshmen in high school and when i play SD songs my friends get bored cause 'they're all over 5 minutes long'. But one day i saw this senior guy wearing an Aja shirt and i ran up to him, me, little 5 foot one, and spit out, "I LOVE YOUR SHIRT" and ran the other way. Scariest moment of my life. HAHA

On a huge Strapping Young Lad kick lately.
Just scared the pants off my foster mom with this one:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zwuReRw23_0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zwuReRw23_0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
At about 0:34 on this song, they do a massive bass drop. Under normal listening circumstances, it's just a cool loud noise.
BUT if you have an awesome sound system like my foster dad's Bose, it is so crushingly heavy when it hits that it feels like all the air has been sucked out of the room for a second or so.
She came running out of her bedroom, "WTF WAS THAT?!?!?!?!"
"That, dear Linda? That...is the sound of awesome."
Haha, good times, good times.

I know there are some Bee Gees' fans out there...
I always associate this song with "The Dance", since it was out & impacted right about the same time as "Dance" premiered on MTV. Barry & Robin are still out there- calling themselves the Bee Gees (even after they said they wouldn't after Maurice died)

abacab is like, the most underrated album in history. I have to admit that I rather detest Genesis and Phil Collins in general, but abacab is sooo outstanding. I hadn't listened to it in, like, 20 years, and recently I just started listening to it again and was totally blown away. "Another Record" is such a great song! Well, I think Phil Collins is a classic example where great works are unable to offset all of the other vomit-inducing crap he has churned out over the years. I do agree that he is better with Genesis, but in some cases, e.g., Invisible Touch, he is just as bad as solo.
Peter Gabriel, IMHO, is someone who has only gotten better with time. I think he finally hit his stride with Security. I'm not crazy about his new album, but at least it's different.

I loves me some mid-80's Carly! Her single most underrated album was 1985's Spoiled Girl, which was pretty much considered to be her first unqualified artistic/commercial bomb album. Yes, it's very much an artifact of its time, even moreso than Rock a Little, but the songs were so catchy and well-written. If you like "Why," you should definitely check this out if you don't have it already.

Great choice. I love Del Amitri! I wish they were still around and hadn;t been screwed over by bad record company politics. Being Scottish, I'm well aware of them but I hadn;t thought they had much success outside Europe (other than with Roll To Me). Am I mistaken and were they big in the US? Just since I notice you're from Chicago... Of course you may just live there and be from there and I could have just made an incredibly foolish assumption!

I am from New Jersey orginally and live in Chicago. Del Amitri had/has a huge cult follwing here and whenever they played here it was sold out. There used to be a radio station here called WCBR and one of the jays on there just thought the Dels were brilliant and played them all the time. WXRT plays them too from time to time presently.
I love Del Amitri and Justin Currie is brilliant. :wavey:

Did you listen to the album? Unfortunately, I've only heard Dark Side Of The Moon. When I asked a friend to play Pink Floyd on Sunday, he had the whole album of The Wall on iTunes, but commented:
"This is... alternative..."
And hence stopped it. :distress:
If you mean the complete album in one session, no.
If it were the old days of vinyl, I would say side three.
I was playing guitar to it, so that's why I picked those
songs (2nd CD).
You've only heard Dark Side Of The Moon??? You must
buy these:
1. The Wall
2. Wish You Were Here
3. The Final Cut
4. Dark Side Of The Moon (if you don't already have it).
The only one I don't care for during the Roger Waters' years is
Animals. Speaking of Waters, as much as I like Gilmour
Pink Floyd is boring without Roger.
BTW, I didn't hear THE WALL until I saw the movie. That was one
wild ride. One of my friends was a big Pink Floyd fan and talked me
into going to see it. So good or bad, that started my appreciation
for Pink Floyd.
Top Three Music Shockers:
1. Elvis' Heartbreak Hotel (I wasn't around when this was released).
2. Fleetwood Mac Tusk.
3. Pink Floyd The Wall.
I can think of no other music that was so different for their time.
Think about what was on the charts when Elvis came out with
Heartbreak Hotel. Nothing before or since has changed the
music world as much as that song (and it's not my favorite of
his by far). It was and is something totally different. And in a
smaller way so was Tusk and The Wall. It's funny they came out
so close to each other in 1979. And double albums no less.
For a little trivia, what album knocked off Dark Side Of The Moon
from it's number one pearch on the Billboard chart??? Give up???
It was..............Elvis Presley: Aloha From Hawaii.

I think I'll just buy the box set Shine On when I can.
Yeah, I own Dark Side Of The Moon. It was only $10 when I bought it (of course, having heard it, I'd gladly pay more). I was listening to it last night going to sleep actually...
Well, I wouldn't know about a boring Pink Floyd! If "Learning To Fly" is anything to go by, they did surprisingly well without him, if only briefly.
Well, I got into Pink Floyd because of A Collection Of Great Dance Songs (which Roger Waters hated), so that is surely worse than because of the movie The Wall!
Hmm... no Beatles in your top three there... where would you rank some of their albums in terms of shock? (Btw my birthday, and thus The Beatles Stereo Box Set, approaches, meaning we can soon decide once and for all just who the best band is!)
Have you heard any Alan Parsons Project albums? They're pretty out there! (And who'd be surprised, considering Alan Parsons was the Engineer for TDSOTM?) Especially Tales Of Mystery And Imagination and I, Robot!

I don't have Floyd's Division Bell. I'm going to have to do something
about that.
Jaycee, I would by the Shine On box set too but I have most of the
material already (including the remasters of "The Wall", "Wish You
Were Here" and "The Final Cut"). That box set seems a little expensive.
But it sure we be cool to have.

Christina Aguilera-Back To Basics: This album is so good to me. I love the R&B feel, and it compliments her incredible voice so well. I am soooo stoked for her new album that is coming out in June! The first single from it, Not Myself Tonight, is incredible. It's so refreshing to hear a pop veteran that outshines Lady Gaga. I am so sick of hearing about Lady Gaga in every conversation, every website...etc.

Nice random Carpenters tune there! A great cover from Bugsy Malone and one of the best songs on Voice Of The Heart. I also love Now from that album and especially their Bonnie Raitt cover - Two Lives.
Right now I'm listening to Tusk - Sara at the moment actually.
