Well, now that I'm looking at those girls and Deb again, I have to agree that they are smaller than Deb was at that time. But I get so defensive because I'm about the same size as those chicks, and none of us are....uh...Carmen Electra (first example that came into my head). I can't understand why people prefer that look. Of course, I am a weird lesbian and we have weird tastes sometimes, I must admit. At any rate, I don't think Deb looked really unhealthy. I've been attracted to quite a few women who were bigger than me (think Stevie circa 1993  )
Anyway, I do agree with diss and whoever else said that the outfit she was wearing was awful and wrong for her.
Carmen Electra's nasty, so you should feel lucky, dear.

I've only been paying a lot of attention for the past year and a half or so, but the smallest person I've noticed in an ad would probably fit into a twelve (which is still smaller than what the store sells, but not much smaller, so...). But two? That's ridiculous. Sending a bad message, as you said.

Camryn Manheim did some modeling for Bryant about four years ago. Did some really good stuff, too. But I <333333333 Camryn Manehim, so I'm biased.
There's a big controversy over Lane Bryant and a few other plus-size companies and the models that they choose to employ. A lot of times they hire thin women who are wearing padding. That is just wrong.

Nightline on ABC about Homosexuality, Bigotry & Acceptance in the Heartland (Sand Springs, OK to be exact...) and a Washington Post article by Ann Hull about a young gay Oklahoman named Michael Shackelford...
Let's say I am embarrassed by the way Michael was treated by some of my fellow Oklahomans :(
Nightline did show one good thing about some in Sand Springs though, And that when Rev.Phelps brought his hatefilled/predjudiced/blind sheep congregation from Topeka Kansas to protest against Michael Shackelford that most Oklahomans told Phelps & co. to go back where they came from cause "God loves ALL people"!

And she is a lot bigger than many of the models they use currently. Maybe all the models they're currently using. This makes me suspicious. Something's not quite right. This doesn't always happen, but sometimes it seems that the models (not just for Lane Bryant but other companies as well) are either size two or Camryn's size. Sometimes it seems there is no inbetween.

Advertising is one of my soapboxes. I can carry on for hours, and have to a few pour souls. :o :laugh:I had an English professor once who said that the folks who work in advertising are the smartest in any business because they know how to manipulate the public better than anyone else. I had another professor who did a unit on advertisements with us, and she was all about how evil advertisers are. She would take some seemingly innocent ad in a magazine and tell us how the bastards were manipulating the hell out of us. I think she was right, though.

"When The Crowds Are Gone" by Savatage (aka Trans Siberian Orchestra) from their "Ghost In the Ruins" release
I dedicate this song to Dawn Oliva (widow of Criss Oliva), Who passed away on Jan.11,2005...At last Dawn & Criss (Criss Oliva was the lead guitarist in Savatage until his untimely death from a drunken driver as Dawn & Criss drove to a show that Savatage was to have played in FL.) are finally together!
"When the crowds are gone
And I'm all alone
Playing a final song
Now that the lights are gone
Turn them on again
One more time for me my friend
Turn them on again
I never wanted to know
Never wanted to see
I wasted my time till time wasted me
Never wanted to go
Always wanted to stay
'Cause the person I am are the parts that I play
So I plot and I plan
And hope and I scheme
To the lure of the night
Filled with unfinished dreams
And I'm holding on tight
To a world gone astray
As they change me for years
I can no longer pay
And the lights
Turn them off my friend
And the ghosts
Well just let 'em in
'Cause in the dark
It's easier to see"-"When the Crowds are Gone"

If I ever get to see Blondie, I hope they play Picture This. I dont know what it is, but it's such a damn catchy tune.

Very true, hope she paid! One of the worst bands I ever saw was ...oh that "Flavor of The Week" song...they SUCKED. And I even was willing to give them a chance, but the lead singer was really too drunk to perform, and their material wasn't that great anyway. I was just BEGGING for OurLadyPeace to get their asses out on stage!

Yeah and I passed it the ENTIRE night (because I was already too f++cked up), but decided, "What the hell? It's the encore." And it wasn't even mine, it was some old guy behind us. He fell on someone's tent, ripping it(while they were in it), then when the chick inside confronted him, he ran at her to try and kick her ass, he's the guys who got kicked out, then let back in after he chilled. I feel your pain, on the way to Lilith Fair, my friends stupidly put their bags in the trunk (with their tickets) and slammed it shut, only to find that it got jammed. So we had to go to a locksmith who destroyed her lock on the trunk, in order to get he tickets...
Here's another good one, man I hope you guys aren't bored!!! This is just a sample of my insanely ironic life...
I got my purse stolen at a campout, and I wasn't the only one. It appears that a group of people raided everyone's tents while they were sleeping and stole wallets and purses. We were 3 hours from home, I had driven, my keys were gone, my license, my S.S. card was in there, um like $500 dollars, and a lot of other yummy things...I probably sound like a really bad person, but I am not!!!

I hate how short the Franz album is.
:(
Isn't it a regular length for an album? Around 40 minutes?
Or is it that you hate that it had to end? ;)
Now playing: Franz - 40'

Both! I guess I noticed the length because I'm used to listening to my mix CDs, which I fill to the brim. I think it's also because the songs are so fun & great that it ends really fast. Time flies when you're having fun, etc.
Damn you, RyanDiss! DAMN YOU!!!!

oh, that's weird. I can't think of anything strange, here. Some of my friends when i was young said "woof" instead of wolf, but i'm not sure that counts. I think in Cali we tend to drop our endings off words, or something, more. not sure, though.

Yep, "warsh" is common all around here too. But then, we're not too terribly far from each other.
My dad used to say "warsh" all the time, until I finally said, "Dad, there's no "r" in that word," and he started correcting himself. :D
Other popular mispronunciations around here include "chimley," "fustrated," and... not even sure how to spell this... "rohf."
It's supposed to be "roof" but it rhymes with "woof."
And I do NOT say, nor have I EVER said, "yinz." (Comprabable to Texans' "y'all.")
