Florence covers Fleetwood Mac at Glasto
Sunday, June 27 2010, 10:28am EDT
By Colin Daniels

Florence and the Machine performed a one-off cover of a Fleetwood Mac song during their Glastonbury set.on Friday.

During her performance on the Other Stage, Florence Welch revealed that 'The Chain' was her favorite song and that she was hoping the band would be there to watch her sing it, according to the Sunday Express.

She said: "This is pretty much my favorite song of all time. All my heroes are in this band and I thought they were going to be here but they're not.

"We're never going to play it again. We hope you enjoy it Glastonbury, this one's just for you."

The singer also allegedly fought back tears during a performance of 'Dog Days Are Over', saying: "This is a pretty big moment for me. To start in a tent and then be here. It means a lot to be on this stage in front of you. I never want to leave."

Florence Welch has an affinity with Glastonbury. Long before she was crowned the BBC's Sound of 2009, or the Brit Awards rising star, Welch was.

Oh my, she does have a very lovely and talented voice. However, the eccentric appearance and outfits already repel my brain from loving her. The wanting to be Stevie thing could be just because she was covering a Fleetwood Mac song, and it is hard to do so without portraying Stevie. But, I do see where the person who said that is coming from on that. Also, since 1989 many much more talented musicians have come along, and went...imo.

Back to this topic though, her cover of The Chain is great to me when I just listen to the audio

And oddly enough, that was my fav part! I feel like doing the same thing myself whenever the bridge to The Chain kicks in... it's just such an adrenaline building song! This version kinda reminds me of the Mirage Concert version... I miss The Chain having this kind of energy and passion within the confines of the Mac.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up on this, y'all. I always enjoy an old Mac tune interpreted through new lenses

I'm guessing she's not gotten to the US yet, but her dancing is what makes her... her. She's been diagnosed with various attention and coordination disorders which are the root of her 'crazed' performances. But yeah, if she'd not danced like a maniac when I saw her in May (or any other time) I'd have a) been extremely worried about her and b) asked for a refund on my ticket

You read my mind! I was clueless....until now. Florence maybe Welsh. Peter maybe Green!

Same here. It is cool to see someone get into it like that, with wild abandon. Loved it.

-I do like some of the other songs posted but this isn't working for me.

-She may well not like your profile?
-Her feet will be filthy because she's a) at a festival oh wait no... THE festival and b) everyone else's dirty boots throughout the day had been tramping on that stage and have been since it was erected.
-I partly agree about the outfit. I much prefer her lace dresses
-Because... it IS a great moment in pop history?

She rarely wears shoes on stage. It's just how she rolls.

Gotcha. Good to know. I was just a little taken a back when I saw the bottom of her feet.

I bet there were many men in the audience that would have been honored to lick them clean. Refreshments at the Glastonbury Festival included a 12 pack and feet licking.
