Edge of 17 is lifted from Bring on the Night. Listen to the opening guitar and drums....
Waddy even admitted to it once... he said in an interview that he listened to the Police and thought to himself "Gee we really are ripping them off aren't we" and then of course the inevitable walking it back because... someone was upset that he'd said it so he tried to pretend he didn't.

I have never heard any leaked songwriting demos of EO17 so I do have to wonder if she was listening to Bring on the Night and started singing over their music (as she'd done with music by Prince, and Mark Knopfler and Lindsey etc) She's been lucky no one has called her out or sued her (or else they've done a really good job of keeping it quiet). Prince could easily have demanded credit on Stand Back, Lindsey could demand credit on Wild Heart...The Police on Edge.... it does look like she had to credit Mark Knopfler on She Loves Him Still in order to use it....

There definitely could have been a lawsuit. I wonder if there was a secret payment or The Police did not care.
Waddy was not happy that Stevie led him to rip off the Police (see attached article). She was much more careful on her next album when she was going to rip off Prince but called him.
