Starshine is such a catchy song, it really should have been the lead single. I can so see this getting airplay on AAA radio.

For "24 Karat Gold" we've already had 3 singles released with official covers ("Dealer", "Lady" and "Starshine") and the new album isn't even out yet. I'm assuming "singles are not promoted the way they used to be. Do we really need 3 singles being released at one time?
It's promotional singles to raise awareness of the album and juice sales. Lana Del Rey did it too: West Coast, Shades of Cool, Ultraviolence, and Brooklyn Baby all out before the Ultraviolence album.

It's more involved and active than "The Dealer" video was. That one just panned around the same image.

This is incredible. Her vocal is perfect and this might be the best her band has ever sounded. This sounds like it could've been on bare trees.

I wondered when you were going to chime in on this oneThe format that this album was recorded in is perfect for this song and I never thought much of the demo but this is a home run bases loaded.

I love the part where the beat drops... but all of the "he said, I said" stuff really grows tiresome to my ears.

Come on, it's not a commercial product. Just a service to us as fans or occasional listeners to read the words as well.

English is not my native tongue and I misheard lyrics many times. Especially with Stevie's nasal voice.

I used to read the lyric-sheets from the albumcover or booklets with the songs, now it's in sync projected on my screen. It's about the words, not about the design.

I'm going to pull a Lindsey here (Yes, I know I wouldn't say this to Bob Dylan). I love the song and am really happy with what I've heard from the CD, so far but I have to say that when she switches persons here (He said, I said, He said, She said) it makes it seem like there are 3 people in the conversation of the song, thought I don't think that's what she actually means.

He said, " This is the price that we would finally pay"
I said, "I don't believe you, I need you, I need you to stay"
She said, "We've been together for so long"

So is this about a love triangle? I don't get that from the song. In this instance, a little editing, or a gentle nudge from someone not named Lindsey, might have really helped.

Anyway, I love the song and agree that it will sound great live.

I've actually been wondering the same thing. It certainly makes sense if we examine the lyrics a bit closer. The song is about trying to convince someone to stay, and being caught in the losing end of a love situation. I think the song really is about Stevie being in a love triangle- either she's been cheated on, or she's trying to lure away someone from their own relationship.

I'm leaning toward the latter!

Just speculating. My guess is a summer solo tour. I think 24 Karat Gold is going to exceed sales expectations, along the lines of Enchanted.

Yeah, definitely. And it has to be marketed differently because Stevie's is going to be on tour with FM. So she won't be able to do her usual press run. It's smart to have different versions of the album for sale, like the bundle. I can see this being on many fans' December gift lists. Another good idea would be to reissue the album in the spring with extra tracks to give the release a second life.
