I buy CD'S but i DO download too.......i'm not that crushed. Times will change and continue to do so. I, For 1 plan to move with them.

I do very much enjoy the CD format - but the only gripe I have about the loss of this format is that downloads are just not a complete product in thier currrent incarnation. 256kbps as opposed to 1411kbps is a substantial loss of fidelity whether you can hear it or not. It's safe to assume that advancements in technology will allow for greater quality with smaller files sizes in the future, and many albums are already mastered with MP3 technology in mind so the file compression is almost meaningless in terms of sound impact. Ultimately I can live with this. Just knowing how many millions of tons of plastic (and thus oil and energy) will be spared is alone enough reason to abandon the CD format. I'm surprised it hasn't happened already considering the astronomical amount of plastic waste the CD format has generated over the past three decades. Quote:

What about old people who have no idea how to DL music?
Like my mom. Poor mom - she won't be able to buy the 57th version of Elvis' Greatest Hits. Seriously, though.I still buy CDs - most of the time it's cheaper to buy a CD the first week it comes out than to buy online song-by-song for 99 cents each.
