Wasn't that list just for North American shows?
I guess you're right. But they even did more than 45 North American shows. No, just counted and it was 45 in the U.S.

Christine's comments to Johnnie Walker about Lindsey's looks, reminded me of that old "Fleetwood Mac on Tour' special that MTV ran back in 1987. Christine said that, upon seeing Lindsey, she thought, "forget the girl -- I'll take the guy!"

So, they had their second meeting at Mick's house in Topanga Canyon. I know Christine has always been the one that mentioned a meeting at Mick's house and this was clarification for me that it was the second meeting after the Mexican restaurant. The others don't tend to talk about the next meeting.
Loved hearing her talking about Los Angeles this year, how she and Stevie met 30 minutes earlier then Lindsey walked in and then Mick and John and she felt the old chemistry, the completeness of five.

Yes!! I wanted some information on the LA dinner too!! Glad that all 5 were there.

I think she is trying to re-build those bridges. I just listened to some of the Radio 2 interview, she mentioned more than once how handsome she thought Lindsey was when they first met him and Stevie. I think she might be trying to get into his good books
I've just had a chance to listen to Christine's interview again and she actually only says once how cute Lindsey was :sorry: (I was having to do 3 things at once whilst also trying to listen to her interview yesterday). She is very very positive about Lindsey's contribution to the band musically, but I think that just relates to the questions she was being asked. Its just so lovely to hear her speaking, and hopefully the Lindsey- love she is sending out will help with those bridges.
I'm saving the entire segment from iPlayer.
Where is Christmas Chris? I've been waiting to see her appear. Or is it too early yet?
God, please tell me Christine McVie isn't kissing Lindsey Buckingham's ass to get back into Fleetwood Mac.
Yesterday I thought maybe she was, but having listened again, I don't think she is - thanks God! ;)

Yes, she even noted his work and how they all learned from him, when promoting In the Meantime, when she was otherwise pointing out that guitar solos made her sick to her stomach:lol:. Michele

That damn Christine burning her bridges again! If she wants the domain back, she can get it fairly easily. There are many legal means now to crush domain squatters (people who use celebrity domains in bad faith or for commercial purposes), if need be.
No there's NOT!!! Here name is NOT trademarked and as such gets no such protection. In addition, anyone with the name of ChristineMcVie could use the name and create a website.

I'm quite sure during ITM she also gave LB and SN credit for the California sound. I could go looking for the youtube or article. But I'm sure you remember Michele. She said something along the lines of LB influencing her sound to the California sound.

The thing is, Christine's people had the domain name themselves. They let it go. So, it's not like they were beaten to the Perfect punch.
As long as whoever it is does not do anything misleading pretending to be official they should be ok. But I think now would be a good time to buy the name back, if she does end up returning to the fold.

About the whole Stevie vs Lindsey argument that came up randomly and always seems to come up, it's getting old. Stevie fans:try to understand she human. She doesn't walk on water. Y'all sound kind of wired when you casually quote her. And Stevie is my favorite Mac member. Lindsey fans: I bet it sucks being the minority. You know how it feels being black or gay. Accept that you are vastly out numbered and move on. It's rare to find people screaming to Lindsey in front of Stevie because 80% of fans go to the shows because they know Stevie is there. At least Lindsey still has more energy. Women age harder then men. I think she has adapted to he fold age fine.shes not as energetic, but I call it a regal dignity just as bewitching. If you hate Stevie because of her fans or ego, your just saying that. You weren't a fan to begin with.
Anyway, has anyone tried to merge Say You Will with In the Meantime to create a proper FWM album?

Against bad faith and commercial use? Of course there are protections, such as the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act. Many celebrities have won back their domains from cybersquatters because domain owners were using celebrity domains for these purposes. Madonna, Mariah Carey, and Jennifer Lopez are just a few celebs who battled them in court and won. For someone in the law profession, I'm surprised that you aren't aware of this.

YOU never stated they were using it in bad faith and/or commercial use. I give you as a prime example the domain for www.Nissan.com, one of the seminal cases where an "alleged" cybersquatter won against a mega corporation. The cases you cite were ALL where the squatter was trying to cash in on a celebs good name. In addition, there is NO trademark or dilution of Chris' name here, so the ACPA would NOT apply.
If someone uses the name Christinemcvie and either has that name or is using it NOT for commercial gain (using Chris' name to make a buck) or fraudulent purposes, it is perfectly justifiable to use the name. In fact, her very domain name is for sale. Shall I continue??

i don't know that pop/rock stars with all the money they have on their disposal, and with looks being somewhat weaved in as a part of their job description for many of them, are very good examples. i don't see Rod's hairline receding, it actually looks better than when he was younger, but i also am not sure whether that's his real hair or not. also, i don't think that until recently Rod had any facial work done, you could see tons of wrinkles, and many of them disappeared in the last year or so... so he may have some kind of face lift done more recently. there has been tons of discussions about whether/what SN has had done, and with her looks being so essential to her image, i could well understand if she had. about Lindsey, receding hairline definitely made him look older (you provided 2011 pic there), and now when he's been so obviously using some kind of hair club for men treatment in the last 2 years, he looks much younger.
but as a general impression, i agree with you - with hair dying and makeup women in many cases look much younger than men of the same age, with graying receding hairline, and many with nice big bellies too. for some examples, just look at pics of Lindsey's high school reunion from 2008 i believe. women look great, men look old (with Lindsey looking like a rare exception at that particular event).

X2, Stevie may have had work done? Regardless, she looks fantastic for an old "broad." (yes, I said it!!!). As for Rod and Lindsey, the ONLY reason they still look great is because they're skinny. Otherwise, they'd be looking like Fat OLD bald men with receding blow-out hairlines. Alas, I give you the formerly cute singer of Loverboy!!!

i actually think Rod looks great, and better than he did in his heyday when he just looked weird. remember the height of da ya think i'm sexy era, in those leopard tights? but i thought he shouldn't have gotten rid of his wrinkles. it's tolerated in men, even if they are celebrities.
you know the woman who i think looks really great - and admittedly had some work done, but then said she's trying to just maintain it and not do more (whether that's true or not, idk)? Jane Fonda. i think she looks amazing. great hairdo helps, of course.

Standard meaning is a trip to somewhere in Africa where you go out into the wild country to observe the wildlife. Very expensive trips that are very posh.. you sleep in hotel-quality tents set up for you by full staff and waiting for you when you come in from your daily observing with your guides... along with fabulously cooked meals, etc.
I know a number of people who have done them... tend to be "trips of a lifetime" for most average people.

Was this a box set, promo pic?
Christine coming back and them doing a real, full band tour would be fantastic. Both Stevie and Lindsey are hesitant, especially Lindsey. I think it's a "you're either in the band or you're not" and there isn't the sentimentality I had hoped for. I am hoping that John's illness and maybe some hard lobbying from Mick will change minds.
I think they could go out and command higher ticket sales with Christine back. Money ALWAYS changes everything. We will see. I had hoped we would see her in Vegas but I doubt it.

That's why I said Jan. 9-ish. Corporate is Jan. 8.
Assuming the scheduled gigs are all over, they can announce whenever they want.
Also, Stevie mentioning that Christine was on Safari seemed like a signal that there would be no news in January, like they wouldn't start any negotiations in January.
Well, okay, but that's the same interview where Stevie supposedly said she hadn't "spoken to her since the songbird reunited briefly with the band for rehearsals in Dublin and cameos at two shows in London in September" when Christine was at least at the Amsterdam show and was rumored to have been on the whole tour. I find it hard that she wouldn't have spoken to Christine during all of that.
In any event, who knows what's really going on at this point. All I know is that Christine apparently wants back in, and I don't see how they could possibly turn her down at this point.

I disagree. They need to reestablish publicly that Christine's back. Do the late night, morning, and afternoon shows, TV and radio. Do lots of interviews, ect. Build hype about Christine's return. Let the world fully understand she's back so they know what a Fleetwood Mac ticket is buying.

How can anyone predict that future with the cast of characters we are dealing with? Christine's assimilation back into the band isn't so simple.
After all, this is a business. There are negotiations to be made, legal issues to deal with, and contracts to sign.
When they finally reconvene, I hope they go into the studio an make an album. It's more lasting than a murky memory of a live show. I would hate to to see them trot out Chris as propaganda for yet another greatest hits tour.
What I understand but don't understand are the Ledgies who constantly disparage the band/members for making money. Sure, there have been obvious examples of money-motivating endeavors (their last two "nothing new to promote" tours).
But at this point in their careers, despite the stunted collaborative creative activity in the recording studio , they have been performing long, fantastic sold out shows to adoring audiences. If you had the opportunity to do that - experience that kind of energy and love, and also take home a big chunk of cash to support your comfy lifestyle...well, you can't blame them for that.

It's just that they're in a point in their career where a tour or album by itself is not going to cause that much media excitement. So, if they can hold on to a nugget of information that will maximize their publicity at the right time, I think they would try to do that.
After American Horror Story airs and the corporate gig is over, I wouldn't think we'd be seeing much of any of them anyway for several months, so they won't have to keep dancing around the Christine subject, because no one should be asking them anything for awhile.

They need a big media blitz ASAP, followed by a short 20 to 30 city tour. Then they finish an album from what's left of the Mick/John/Lindsey recordings and release a new album ASAP. After that, a full tour.
From there is anybody's guess. Yeah, they're old, but they're sober and technology is light years ahead of even where it was during "Tango In The Night." If they wanted, they could record an album in the winter and tour in the spring/summer/fall for the rest of their careers.
ETA: And, unless John isn't up for it, they really shouldn't wait to get back out there. Now-ish seems good!
SteveMacD

I wonder how that would have worked. Would [Welch] be able to sing LB tunes?

This is the most logical solution I've ever heard. Here's why: By doing 20-30 dates, they get their chops up for the album. This makes the album that much more, "spot on". I'd love for them to scrap any previous work, however. Just do a fresh start. LB's music sound so recycled sometimes. Christine the same in past era's... Just start melding tunes with LB and CM arraning the majority. I need some magic.

It's definitely understandable. I am hesitant about the whole thing as well. One other thing I was thinking about was that if they all decide to do something together, that pushes Stevie and Lindsey's solo plans back for another 1-2 years. As of late, they both have had more happiness in their solo projects. Whenever they re-group as Fleetwood Mac, it really does seem like a cash grab. They are probably both thinking "do I want to spend another 2 years with FM?"
They need a big media blitz ASAP, followed by a short 20 to 30 city tour. Then they finish an album from what's left of the Mick/John/Lindsey recordings and release a new album ASAP. After that, a full tour.
yeah, nice theory except it would fail on your opening point. i've never seen a good media blitz from their PR team, in the recent years.
plus, i think they should have finished that album already, and from the speed that Men of Mac (and seemingly Christine) have been working, they are more then capable of doing it. they had 2 months off, and most of John's parts were already recorded. now their PR could take over to package and sell it, together with Christine being back.
This is the most logical solution I've ever heard. Here's why: By doing 20-30 dates, they get their chops up for the album.
:lol::lol::lol::lol: if i was not too lazy i'd pull some vids of LB's intros on UL saying exactly that. we've seen how that ended up.
One other thing I was thinking about was that if they all decide to do something together, that pushes Stevie and Lindsey's solo plans back for another 1-2 years. i know.
however much i'd really love to see FM with Christine back, i dread not having Lindsey solo back.
i hope that, if they weren't working on finishing that Mac album in these 2 months, he was working on new solo stuff. interspersed with cool collaborations like NIN.
I'd love for them to scrap any previous work, however. Just do a fresh start. LB's music sound so recycled sometimes. Christine the same in past era's... Just start melding tunes with LB and CM arraning the majority. I need some magic.
they can do magic on songs they started, considering they both geared them for the Mac. now when dynamic has shifted, they can completely change them if they feel like it.
for an example of how the same song can be recorded in several completely different ways at the same time, look no further than Lindsey's Seeds We Sow acoustic vs electric version.

I think they ultimately need to use the previous work at some point, even if it means rerecording everything.

A couple of years ago in 2007, Shout Factory productions started a series of "full albums performed live". Heart was the first band up and they did the whole Dreamboat Annie live!

This would be a perfect time to perform Tusk, or Rumours in it's entirety, imagine that project. That's a great way to get back to their groove.

why would it be? they recorded 5 more LB songs besides the 3 on the EP. if there are 3 songwriters on the album, 5 is probably already too many from 1 of the 3.

To be clear, I was not talking about them using songs from EP for the next Fleetwood Mac album, I was talking about using the five unreleased songs the guys recorded. Although, I think EP could be used in a deluxe version of a new album.

It's a great starting point. I wonder how many songs Christine has written. If she brings in four songs, then all Stevie would need is three or four, which is very doable.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to add the EP songs since they are currently unavailable on a physical format. Lindsey has been teasing on the tour that they could appear on some other format in the future, so who knows. I would venture that most longtime fans would want these songs on a CD anyway. They could even have Christine add harmony vocals to "Miss Fantasy" and "Sad Angel" to freshen the songs up a bit.

Christine's return changes the equation.
I don't care if Stevie and Lindsey ever do more solo albums. It's been done, with mixed results. Now it's time to be a band again.
(Although, if Stevie and Lindsey decided to do a bunch of solo projects, I'd love for the Brits to do a blues album/tour with Rick Vito.)
Whilst I'd prefer all new material for an upcoming Mac album, if three of the EP tracks were revisited with contributions from Christine, I wouldn't object. Sad Angel is fine as it is, but Christne's piano and backing vocals wouldn't go astray. Miss Fantasy could definitely benefit from being beefed up a bit - it's kind of insipid and aimless in it's present state. It Takes Time is gorgeous already, but a delicate harmony vocal from Stevie could be wonderful.
Without You just needs to be buried at this stage.

Without You would be fine if they had gone with a more organic acoustic guitar tone. It sounds very direct line in as opposed to mic'd, and it's way too upfront. That could just be because of how they EQ'd it and whatever post effects they added. But I don't like it (and obviously, my opinion REALLY matters here).

I like Without You a lot. It is a strong song from her and has a classic feel. Unfortunately Stevie's voice has changed. She didn't sound like she was trying to sound her best. Lindsey had to turn it into a duet.
Lindsey is still writing strong songs by himself. Stevie needs help from Dave. I'm not sure what Christine will throw out, but its sure to be simple, classic Christine.

Ok so now that we have Lindsey's quotes on Christine coming back, I'm 99% sure something is going to happen. Before I was about 75% sure.
"Sure there could be more. All I can say is we've opened the door, and uhhhhhh for the longest time she had no interest at all, in anything musical. When she left the band she really did burn all her bridges in every way. She sold her house in LA. I think she ended her relationship, she moved back to England. She really just did not wanna define herself in that way. And the fact that she was asking to be a part of this, you know it's just very intriguing. So uh, I wouldn't rule anything out, but you know, we don't know yet."

As for Fleetwood Mac’s future recording plans, McVie lets slip that she has recently written new songs for the band.
‘I sent them to Lindsey and he loved them,’ she reveals. ‘You could hear his mind whirring, figuring how he could improve them, Mac them up.’
Then out of the blue, in that honeyed voice, she starts to sing.
‘We’ve only just begun…’

It is beyond my wildest belief to see what I think is unfolding. Having Christine emerge from the shadows is igniting a flame. Could she be the catalyst - the motivation they need to make another album, sooner than later?
Sounds like Christine is game, since she gave Lindsey two songs already! I think Stevie will eventually get on board. However, I hope they bring in a cool co-producer, someone like T. Bone Burnett.

I think Christine was referring to Hawaii regarding how she enjoyed being on stage again. I believe her interview was done in late August, around the time she did that Ken Bruce interview. I was so delighted by how much focus there was on Christine. After a long absence and virtual radio silence for most of the last 15 years it's lovely to hear her speaking about her career in such an engaging way.
I agree that Johnnie Walker was referring to Hawaii when he asks her about being on stage. You can hear him whisper the word when he asks, but he has such a low, smooth voice it can be tricky to pick the ends of his sentences up! (I listen to his shows a lot, and used to listen to him in the car home when he did the Drivetime slot in the 90s.)

We preview the biggest music, movies and television of 2014
After featuring on both of 2013's biggest singles, Pharrell will complete his comeback with a new solo album in the spring. Other big-name acts making a return include U2, the Black Keys, Stevie Wonder (twice), Beck, the Prodigy, Sean Paul and Glasto headliners elect Fleetwood Mac… Morrissey will hope to capitalise on the buzz surrounding his autobiography, while a third Stone Roses album remains a vague hope for next winter, though the prospect of new Blur material has been superseded by Damon Albarn's debut solo record… Kanye West will remain ubiquitous well into 2014 with a Yeezus follow-up already underway and a sequel to the Cruel Summer comp (called Cruel Winter, obvs) also on the slate. Sometime Kanye producer Hudson Mohawke is also readying his second solo album. Rap hook-writer du jour Future will finally release Honest in the spring, once he's got his wedding to Ciara out of the way. Teenage rap prodigy Bishop Nehru is making a record with his hero Nas, and on a similar "golden age" revival tip, expect major-label albums from Joey Bada$$ and Kendrick Lamar's mate Schoolboy Q (but probably not the Wu-Tang Clan, who are still squabbling like schoolkids)…

I agree. Plus, I think Stevie & the band are simply building interest & intrigue until some sort of official announcement. And since the "old" incarnation of the band finished it's last contractually obligated show on the 8th, that could come any day now. Not just that, but undoubtedly, they are waiting to see how John's cancer treatment progresses, too. His health has the be the absolute #1 concern of the band right now, even if they are playing that down in the press.

They probably won't announce anything until after John's recovered from his surgery. It wouldn't shock me if they were still working on new stuff, though.

Mick announced on stage tonight in Maui while he was playing at Uncle Willie K's Blues Festival that Christine is rejoining the band. Exact words were "This is the worst kept secret there is, but Christine McVie will be rejoining Fleetwood Mac!"
It was right after Willie did an acoustic rendition of Songbird with Mick on the talking drum.
I was there! I didn't video unfortunately but it's legit. Gonna make a thread on it just so everyone is aware. WOOOO!!!!!

I was thinking that they wouldn't announce anything until just before an album release or the start of a tour and that then we'd start to see the magazine covers and group interview.
So, I'm somewhat surprised by the timing. Michele

I'm surprised as well. I knew they would have to wait until January 9th at the earliest, but I doubted we'd hear anything before March or April. My guess is the media blitz is still several months off. Thanks for the confirmation though, Mick!

If they are tour this summer, there's going to be a couple months of rehearsals. Those should start around March/April I would guess.
