Stevie Nicks, Rock and Roll's reigning queen, will be releasing her highly anticipated new CD “IN: YOUR DREAMS” on May 3, 2011. The new album, her first album of new material in a decade, was co-produced by former Eurythmic Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard. The new album is now available for fans to pre order at stevienicks.warnerreprise.com. Fans who pre-order the CD will receive an instant download of the record's first single, the Nicks’ penned "Secret Love”. The official release date of the single is February 3rd. Nicks is a multi-Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and member of Fleetwood Mac.

Interesting. I've always been a fan of that demo, but it's definitely not one I would have thought might be included on the new CD.

Secret Love, as in "Come on It's time to go upstairs"?

If so, I've always loved this song and it's cuteness. Could be interesting to hear the new version!!

Found it... It's from the Rod Stewart Fan Club site (http://www.rodstewartfanclub.com/about_rod/article/EkAullyyZyBwwXHuzi.php)...

Weird that the info is put out there yet it's not yet available. Looks like two separate press releases.

Yeah, now I'm starting to wonder. February 3rd is a little distant from May 3rd. I mean that is a lot of distance from the 1st single to the album release.

No, I think the Feb 3rd date is plausible... If you look at Lady GaGa for instance, her new single is coming out in Feb and the album in May... so that makes sense... I think this press release on Rod's site is jumping the gun abit hence the reason it was changed to what we saw on the billboard biz site yesterday.

Well, they must think this is pretty stronger single then. I think they think it will be around for awhile.

I was just getting ready to post something similar. But Lady GaGa is HUGE right now and her single is sure to be a smash. Stevie's single, on the other hand, is not likely to be a mega-hit (though there could be a small chance/you never know) and I feel that the hype could wear off by the time May rolls around. Regardless, I'm happy that we are getting a new album and I'm definitely excited.

I think the difference is. GaGa's single will be huge and shoot straight to the top of the charts, so everyone will know she has an album out in May, and eagerly anticipate it.

While Stevie will release her single in February... it probably won't do anything on the charts. BUT. People will hear it, and if it keeps getting played on the radio, by the time May rolls around, more people will be aware of the fact that Stevie has a solo album out than they would have if she released both the single and album in March. So it's a slow burner.

While GaGa will shine immediately, Stevie will slowly build up momentum.

Or something like that.

Just being honest, I doubt Stevie will be getting much radio play at all. A lot of the Adult Contemporary stations have dissipated over the years and turned into full-on "Classic rock" or "Classic Hits" stations..There's really not a big outlet left for new music of veteran artists.

With that being said, I'm totally excited about the new single and album..and we will all love it none-the-less, I'm sure.

Uh oh... I detect a vague whiff of flop sweat in the air. I'm afraid that WB is at its old shenanigans again, i.e., botching the promotional campaign for a new Stevie/Mac album. "Secret Love" is not appropriate for a lead single. I can usually hear the potential for a Stevie demo in my head- changing the rhythm, changing the instrumentation, etc. This is one song that I simply cannot see turning into a hit single, let alone a lead single. Yes, it's a charming, intimate little ditty. But it's flawed, e.g., "oooh-wee, listen to me..." . It's too low-key. It doesn't say "hey bitches, guess who's back?" Rather, it says "hey, um... did y'all miss me?" And if a vault song is being pushed out first, what does this say about all of the newly-written songs? I'm starting to not feel so good about this...

I think with the exception of a few scattered gems over the years Stevie had about 10 years of great songwriting in her when all of her classics were generated Landslide and Rhiannon in late 1974 to Stand Back in early 1983.That a third string demo from those 10 years has been remade into the first single of the new album does not bode well IMO.

Let's hope she can at least get that right!

As for the single, i'm excited. Although i have personally never heard the demo, i trust that Stevie and her people made the right decision.

I am also pleasantly surprised that WB is releasing this single so early. Considering Stevie's last two releases (which were only best of's), this is a very good sign that WB is planning on seriously promoting this album if the single is being released this soon.

Another thing too, by the time the album is released, it will be time to release the second single, and i'm sure by that time, one of the songs we've been hearing about (i.e. The Ghosts are Gone, Italian Summer, In Your Dreams) will be released right before the album itself drops. They seem to be on the ball this time around.

Artemis

Maybe Secret Love is just the promotional single, while a Nicks-Stewart tune will be the "proper" lead single.

Or is that totally illogical?

I think it's a matter of hours or days before the WBR http://stevienicks.warnerreprise.com/ site goes live, and we'll all be able to download the new single:blob2: "Secret love" could have potential. I always liked the demo, just not blown away by it like others. I imagine a lilting guitar oriented ballad that starts slow then builds to mid tempo.

I suspect we will get the ususal Bonus track exclusive to ordering from Warners directly, and a other bonus track through Amazon or Itunes. Which is fine with me. I will happily be buying all these extra songs.:)

Oh for God's sake, Landslide only hit in the 50s for Fleetwood Mac and it's their second gold single. Stairway to Heaven didn't even chart.

Maybe she made a real album. You know, like Joni Mitchell's blue, which really didn't have a big hit off it. But was a great album.

You're right, unless they can some airplay on Country Radio and Country Video, she has no outlet. Country music really respects their veterans and they have been playing a lot of rock n music. Bella Donna is what country is today practically.

I have been getting a sore throat for a few days now and today it's at it's worst. I called in sick from work and have been laying in bed feeling miserable. I figured seeing Stevie on Ellen today would cheer me up. I got up to check The Ledge and saw this. I ran to the site and the second I heard the Secret Love snippet my heart swelled. I've loved that demo since I first got it on a bootleg cassette at a record fair years and years ago. I recently found the mp3, probably here, and realized I had totally forgotten about it since I no longer play cassettes and was thrilled to have a much better copy for my iPod. But when I heard those 30 seconds of it today it literally brought tears to my eyes. Okay, I'm sensitive, I cry at commercials, and I'm always even more emotional when I'm sick, but I can barely put into words how beautiful that new song is. And when I read that this was going to be on the album I didn't think the "oohwee" part would work, because really that's kind of a classic country thing, but she pulls it off. And the way the music pulls back when she sings "my secret love secretly.... dies". My pulse is racing and I feel ten times better than I did when I woke up twenty minutes ago.

Oh, and Dave tweeted today that the Rod/Stevie tour isn't about the new album but that the two of them will be playing some dates to promote the new album. Yay!

No this song is a lot more hookier than Everyday. It's stronger than Say You Will, Everyday, Maybe Love, If you Ever did Believe and she wrote it herself. It's very fleshed out. Besides, there is supposed to be some Tom Petty like rock on this album.

I still don't think it's a strong lead single. That being said, they definitely surpassed by my expectations for this song! :blob1: And, yes, I do hear some autotuning on there... but I guess it is what it is. She sounds so young... and as much as I hate to admit it, this sounds like something that could have fit on a Taylor Swift album; it's that contemprary sounding. It's a little bit slick, but it has a nice bounciness to it that would not sound out of place next to Katy Perry or Miley Cyrus.

Hopefully "brown" is the new "black!" It's so sad that, when you click on the "Visit nicksfix.com" link on the WB page, you get that tired old website. I wonder when her official site will finally get blinged out with the new album artwork... perhaps next year?

Listened to the snippet. I think it sounds pretty good...they definitely fleshed out the demo. It's definitely AC/pop, but I don't have a problem with that at all. Tom Petty is as "hard rock" as I go. The album could be full of songs along the lines of "Garbo" and "Sleeping Angel," and I'd be fine with it.

The production is better than Everday which sounded dirgelike and the voclas are more lively. This is not quite the earth shattering new single that alot of us were hoping for but it is very well done .

Everything has been a small step from the weak single Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind.

I mean Everyday was better than that. Say You Will was a little better than Everyday. And this song might do it for her. It's better than Say You Will. I like the words and production. I wish the download would work. Come on!!!!!!!! Let's hear the whole song.

Is this what we were expecting from "the reigning queen of rock'n'roll"??? Sounds like another forgettable "Everyday". Months ago I wrote I was sooooo afraid about the Stewart-Nicks team... I hope I was not right.

It's not a rock song, it's adult contemporary. I myself am very pleased with the song, the artwork, etc, but obviously Stevie can't please everybody.

This snippet is not filling me with any confidence... more Adult Contemporary with mundane production and strained vocals is all I'm hearing. :distress:

Louie, I have to agree with you from just this snippet, but am holding my breath till I hear the whole song. Mostly I'm not impressed with the arrangement. Not edgy or innovative, very predictable and pleasant instrumentation :sorry: and it's too happy sounding & upbeat for the lyrics, not mournful and suffering. I hope I'm eating my words once I hear the whole song.

I'm excited as anyone here to get new Stevie music, but my heart sank a bit when I heard this.
I'm afraid this could be another "Everyday" (cept Stevie wrote it) meaning there must be better songs on the record to offer up 1st than this?

I thought Every Day was a much better song than Say You Will. As for Maybe Love, that song is pure dreck, along with Unconditional Love. I'd take Docklands over either one of those turkeys any day.

Does anyone seriously think Stevie is going to have a top ten single (or even a top 40 single) ever again? It has nothing to do with how good the song is.

Strained Vocals? How so?

Yes. Especially on the higher/more projected notes such as the part where she goes "ooooh-weee"... her voice sounds thin and strained there. I was hoping for a much more buttery vocal. Such as the one on Cheaper Than Free.

Those days are long over. It was a feat when Cher did with Believe a dozen years ago... at the time she was the oldest female to have such a high charting song. Stevie's a decade older now than Cher was then. It's not gonna happen.

Wow, I think you're being harsh. You may as well say that every vocal on RAL is also "strained" too. That's just Mama being Mama IMHO.

I think Stevie could have a huge chart hit today if she did some middle-of-the-road country in the vein of Lady Antebellum. I mean, if she just added a pedal steel to "Secret Love" and took the synthy bass out of it, I think she's halfway there.

Generally, if you're over 30 (and that's probably being generous) you're not going to have a "hit." Even Britney Spears is getting long in the tooth. I haven't paid attention to what's on the "charts" for a very long time. It stopped being relevant to me way before the Grammys did. My bf's brother played me Katy Perry and Lady Gaga...it's garbage.

Ummm radio would not play Believe until it became a mega smash hit around the world. I blew off the single until it couldn't be denied. It was because she was old. And I would say it was exactly feats, since she has little to do with her own music in my opinion.

She's going to generate a lot of attention with this song. It represents exactly what we've been hearing about the album, "dreamy".

"In Your Dreams" is supposed to be more uptempo song and not as etherial, but generally "dreamy" is the word that's been thrown around describing the album. You can't have a rock song as the lead single if that's not what the majority of the content on the album represents.

I enjoyed the bit I heard. Yes it is commercial but after 10 years, that's what they have to do to get some attention & hopefully airplay.
Our expectations for Stevie are so high that it's impossible for her to please everyone. Plus, no one's heard the entire thing, we all may be pleasantly surprised.
I am glad she's doing this stint with Rod Stewart. I just read a blurb in Pollstar about the tour that says it's going to include a nice stage production. I think Stevie will enjoy that. She loves being the big time rock n roll star, and if she enjoys it , maybe it will come across in her performances.

The ONLY thing I have beef with is that I wish Stevie would take a genre of music and go with it. I don't want this half country, half rock, half AC album. I know she's been doing that for years, but for me, I want an all rock album....or an all country album...etc.....take a vein and go with it.

Singles are suppose to give an average person a taste of what the album is suppose to sound like. Her singles never give good representation, IMO, because they are always so safe. If you are not a rabid fan, you would never know that she has gems hidden on albums.

So i closed my eyes as i listened to the snippet of it. You know what i really enjoy it. Very soft upbeat and refreshing. Perhaps the sunniest of all the songs i've ever heard from our girl. On the other hand i can't help but noticing how much she sounds like Britney Spears here. That might sound a little weird but if Britney tried to emulate Stevie she would sound like this or vice versa. Hmm but all and all very warm and beachy to me. It would be a shame if the thumbnail was the album cover because, once again, you can't see her face ("don't hide behind your hair that way, baby!"). The bigger photo is stunning. Yeah, she's sporting some serious raccoon eyes, but it's spellbinding and the colors are dreamy yet earthy. I really, really enjoy it.

To the people complaining about it being too "AC"...when has Stevie NOT been AC? Edge of Seventeen was/is probably her most "ROCK" song, but I don't recall it doing so great on the charts. Maybe SDMHA could be her biggest "rock" single, but I still don't think she falls into the same "rock" genre as, say Heart or Pat Benatar. Stevie has, and always will be, Adult Contemporary, and I'm OK with that.

Secondly, like others have said, this is a 30-second snippet. What if we were given a 30-second clip of Every Day and told to base our entire opinion on the album on that? The first single is geared toward appealing to the masses, and I don't think a harder "rock" song would do that, really.

1. I forgot how happy it makes me to hear Stevie, Sharon and Lori singing together. Those harmonies are perfect.

2. I am really liking the little guitar riffs at :16 and :19-20. The latter of the two sounds like SOMETHING I have heard on another Stevie/FM song, but I can't pinpoint what. Any help?

BTW, I'm referencing the version someone posted here from YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SbZcltGAlM

Here comes a silly question ... what exactly do we mean by Adult Contemporary? I do think I understand, but I can't really find words to put on it.

I think it's generally viewed to mean something in the realm of soft rock...something a bit safer, less edgy than classic or harder rock.

I pre ordered and as soon as my order went through it took me to a download page. I didn't read the instructions though and clicked the "download" tab and it just streamed the song. I guess you have to right click and save the download link.

Anyway, I checked my receipt that they e-mailed, and there should be a link to click for those of you who haven't downloaded yet. Check your receipts about half way down for this:

If you have not done so already, you can initiate your download of purchased content at: Download Digital Items

In your e-mail "Download Digital Items" will be a hyperlink that takes you to the download page.

Looking forward to hearing people's thoughts on the full song when it's sent out, pity there isn't a pre-order for people outside the US.

Well, I came to the check-out with my NON-US biling adress. Didn't order yet. I'm not going to spend 1/3 of the total price on shipping costs. I do not even have a cc, but luckily there is PayPal.

I'll wait for the release in may when ordering. Hate it to spend money now and get the product I bought in4 months time...

The single will be available to download all over the web soon I guess...

Warner and Stevie don;t have to worrie, will buy the album anayways :-)

Going from this snippet, is is just me who thinks she's singing better than she has for years? This might just be me, in all my essay-frustration, and wanting to hear nothing but good things, but has her voice lost a lot of that nasal quality present on TISL and SYW?

I'm not sure what her problem was on SYW - her vocal ruins Destiny Rules for me.

I'll have to listen to it again...I did think her voice sounded all right...maybe a little thinner than on TISL, but this is only a 30 second clip, so it's hard to say.

BS. Stevie has always had a very rock edge. From Gold Dust Woman to Sisters Of The Moon to Straight Back, Edge of 17, I Can't Wait, The Nightmare, No Spoken Word, Freedom, Love Is Like A River, Fall From Grace, Running Through The Garden... these are all very much rock songs. There is an undercurrent of rock in most all her songs. because it's easier to move a song upward in AC charts as opposed to her music competing on ROCK charts, and if they (WBR) are looking for anything in the top40s the AC chart is where stevie would need to be.

I am guessing those that initiated this didn't anticipate the onslaught of Ledgies hitting the site. This morning, they didnt even have the page running live yet. If people are interested in their purchase running smoothly, I would suggest waiting a day or so.

Her voice sounds good, really good.
I save my comment on the song untill I've heard the whole version.

Same here. To so quickly judge a song (and an entire album) based on a snippit is just a little unrational. Flawed or brilliant, I still accept and appreciate, to varying degrees, all of her songs. I have no expectations, so there will be no disappointment. I'm just grateful she's giving us something new.

Let's hope for several bonus tracks. Maybe a deluxe version. Possibly a concert DVD.

She is more marketable to radio that way. You'll be hard pressed to find many rock stations these days that only play rock music. Most are in the AC/soft rock category and they play a little bit of everything.

But there aren't really any AC/Soft Rock stations left anymore either. Everything's Top 40 (which is pop/rock... not soft rock/AC), be it current top 40, or top 40 from the past 40 years. All I'm saying is that most of Stevie's songs are not Soft Rock/AC... and it's arguable she's not really a hard rocker at all either. She falls somewhere in between. THAT'S what I wish they'd market her as. She has great songs on all her albums that could have been radio hits, but "safer" songs were chosen instead. For instance, Destiny Rules and Thrown Down were very safe songs and WORLDS better than Say You Will. Most any song off TISL was a better choice than Everyday. I just don't get the need to push Stevie as AC, because it doesn't represent her product.

I also think the logic that pushing an average AC song is flawed. To the general public, such songs just don't stand out enough, and kind of blend in. If she were to have released a nice rocker, people would perk up and say "is that the chick from Fleetwood Mac? And she's still rocking??".

I also still don't get the idea of "I am grateful she is giving us something new". I'm pretty sure it should be the other way around, she's lucky to still have this large of a fan base.

With all that being said, I could die from excitement :D:D:D

The song has a different type of arrangement. The snippet doesn't show that. It's very dreamy, but has versus that are accented in the middle. Hard to describe, but it's an unusual arrangment that makes it sound fresh. Her vocals are great and so is the production. Best single Talk to Me I think.

I'm really not trying to be a douche here- but I thought posting commercially available stuff here was illegal- unless that link is for a demo, I don't think it should be here.

I don't mean to be a douche either, but that instant download wasn't soo instant. Still, haven't gotten it. Post away!

Love it! Love the new arrangement, the new lyrics, the added layers, the heightened drama...

I'm not asking salvation from you... I'm just asking to be safe for a while.

Stevie Nicks is BACK!

I have a bit of a guilty conscience about it ... will the single be available on iTunes, do you think?

Edit: Conscience cleared, just pre-ordered the CD for the official download.

Fair play, Ethan :xoxo:

I'm really not trying to be a douche here too late.

I have no problem with the link being removed.

I love her delivery on the word "salvation", I don't really know why but it's awesome!

Still not that impressed. Except for the ending, that is beautiful. Reminds me of "Everybody loves you", actually.
But still, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH :blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1:

While GaGa will shine immediately, Stevie will slowly build up momentum.

Or something like that.

this situation would EASILY be rectified if Stevie & Stefani COLLABORATED ... yes
