Salmon fillet baked/steamed in balsamic vinegar and lemon, baby garlic potatoes and salad. Lovely!

Fantastic!

We had Japanese dumplings (Gyoza) filled with pork and veggies with brown rice last night.

My dinner last night was some yogurt and a pint of blueberries. I was feeling lazy.

Tonight, though, I am making a Vietnamese lemon curry with rice and veggies.

And...scratch that. Guess it's taco night instead. :woohoo:

We will eat at Rotiers, 2400 Elliston Place(I always get a little lost, getting there, so I have it memorized, so I can speak it into my GPS), and have the Fried Chicken Liver/Gizzards combo plate(it doesn't even exist, but they combine the two for me).

I don't think I'll buy any more lobsters to cook at home. They're kind of DISGUSTING, cleaning the sh*t out of them. It was tasty, but ewww....(no, I mean the lobster was tasty).:p

Went out for slap up lunch yesterday at a country pub/restaurant and it was, like, wow!!!!

To start I had Queen Scallops with Chorizo and Hot Bacon Salad.

For the main I had Monkfish Tails wrapped in Parma Ham served with Seafood Risotto (the seafood consisted of King Prawns, Scallops, Mussels and Squid).

It was divine!

My friend was supposed to have a big Mexican dinner/cards night, last night. But due to terrible weather here this weekend(ice storm), he canceled, "before everyone spent their money on food for the party":mad::mad::mad:

Sadly, I'd already bought everything.:mad::mad::mad:

So I called my family, and I'm cooking for a bunch of them today. It's a mexican chicken casserole. I got the recipe off the Food Network site, and it's a Paula Deen recipe. Hope it's good!

That sounds great!

It was only so so. I wouldn't recommend it. Firstly, it called for 3 cans of soup(cream of chicken, cream of mushroom, and cheddar cheese soup), and while it was okay, the consensus was, that it just tasted too processed. IF IF IF I were to do it again, I'd maybe ONLY use the cream of chicken soup, and make up the difference with natural ingredients, such as green chilies, and maybe some salsa or something.

Your first mistake was looking to Paula Deen for good Mexican food. If you want good Mexican food, you should try this recipe for a start:

It doesn't hurt that the recipe is from director, Robert Rodriguez.

I wasn't specifically looking for Paula Deen, just searching the food network's database, for Mexican recipes. I SHOULD have known, that any recipe calling for 3!!! cans of soup, as a base, couldn't be very authentic. My bad.

Overcooked smoked sausage and cabbage. Good thing I didn't burn the house down. So, I've always been afraid of leaving the house, with the oven on. Well, I had a couple hours of work to do, today, but I wanted to try this recipe that my aunt told me about last week. I always ASSumed, since my stove is only a couple of years old, that if I fired up the oven, then set the TIMER, that the timer would shut it off, when the timer ran out. I doesn't work that way, folks! Learn from my mistake.:lol::lol:

So it still tasted pretty good, although the sausage and cabbage were brown(not burned) from being heated for about 90 minutes longer than the recipe called for.

Apparently, oven timers serve no function, other than to say, "hey YOU, turn the damned oven off".:o:laugh:

Just bought the tails (on sale for $5 each!). I kinda butterflied them and washed them... took all of 30 seconds for each tail. I've never cooked a whole lobster... I am not up for that much prep work. :o

This was seriously easy, though. Butterfly them, grill them meat side down for 4 minutes, flip them over on the shell side, then grill them for 2 more minutes and you're done. YUM!!

Just grilled some lobster tails with butter, lemon, & sauteed garlic and they far outshone my signature sauteed asparagus with lemon-butter (with a touch of spicy mustard). I've always boiled lobster in the past, and have been fairly unimpressed with the results. Grilling them made them unbelievable... restaurant quality and it took all of 5 minutes on the grill!

I assume Costco's food is very similar to Sam's Club. While I like most of it, it's hard for me, a single guy, to eat the quantity that I have to buy. Even if it's frozen stuff, it's usually freezer burned, by the time I finish it.

Day #2 of 7 days in Nashville...I've been researching Urban Spoon, wanting to try at least a few new places.
Today I was craving mexican, so I picked a new place, based on the number of positive reviews it had received. I had chille relleno, a burrito, and a chalupa. Does anyone else think that "bone in" chicken is disgusting? So I fired up the smoker today, and smoked some red pepper encrusted chicken. I usually never buy anything but boneless, but this was on sale, and the Food Network shows always INSIST that you need bone in chicken, because that's where the flavor is.....

So it was tasty, but as you get closer to the bone, I just think it's disgusting! I really felt like hurling, when I was down to the deep parts. Bleck.
I'll never buy bone in again, with the exception being wings for hot wings.
