This is great, evocative and really straightforward. Very linear and clear, for Stevie.

I agree with you. I'm quite impressed by it! I wish she would adopt this style of writing in some of her songs.

Heart These Words Touched My Heart...

I never saw this poem before...

It is so beautiful and moving.

My baby brother is a Marine...

He is fighting everyday for his country... and his family.

We want him to come home safely...

We want his gentle and strong spirit to go on forever.

Stevie's dedication to our military "family" means so much to me.

This poem... her words...

"In The Eyes Of The World... You Have Done So Much For Me..."

SYW (the song) is very clearcut too. Some people don't like its unlayered quality. But I marvel at how easily she stepped up to the Christine plate when the situation called for it. And the simplicity of the words almost makes them more exquisite, because when you speak in language so unadorned, you seem to make yourself more vulnerable. I mean it's harder to do a Prufrock and say, "that's not what I meant at all" when your words aren't gauzy. There's so much less to hide behind, so many fewer ways to escape the pain of rejection, when you just lay it on the table in plain talk. So, when a love song is composed of that, it brings home both the charm and risk of romance.

I wouldn't want her to write like that all the time, but it certainly works for a change of pace. Michele

What a touching poem - thank you for posting it. Where was it originally published?

Exactly... this is Not Stevie's style of writing. Yes, that is the stationary paper that Stevie has wrote upon... But the lyric of the poem must not be Stevie's...
The Poem is very touching and Good... But IT'S Not Stevie's...
