Default Xanadu!

Any thoughts on the Movie or The Musical?
I am off to NY to see it on Broadway next month.
Anyone seen it?

love the movie. I vividly remember renting it when you rented movies in the grocery store at the same time you rented the VCR. granted, I was about 7, but I remember it. I remember renting this and some movie with Karen Black about aliens.

I loved the movie, and "Telephone Line" is great!
Is ELO still together? I really liked a lot of their songs, back in the day....

I actually sat through the movie in the theater when I was a kid. It was one of the few movies (along with The Wiz and the Raggedy Anne & Andy Movie) that I really hated seeing. Of course, I had been told it was about Greek mythology, so you can see how it might have been a letdown.
My ex used to sing the song at karaoke, though.
But I like to appall people by pointing out that the 1st Gene Kelly movie I ever saw was Xanadu, the 1st Bette Davis movie was Escape to Witch Mountain, the 1st Shelley Winters movie was Pete's Dragon, and the 1st Lawrence Olivier movie was Clash of the Titans. My childhood was crapfest-a-rama. (The Incredible Shrinking Woman, anyone?)

But I hope you enjoy it on Broadway.

Fair enough, & granted, I doubt I was the target demographic, given that I'm not a big fan of musicals, and like I said, I'm the poor little schmo who expected a deep plot about a Greek myth.
To this day I've never seen a show actually on Broadway. (Though I did see Les Miserables in Chicago, Fiddler in Houston, and Rent in Houston. And I was bored out of my mind in that last one, so take my taste with a grain of salt when it comes to all this.)
