On Sunday my Grandma passed away at the age of 97. She still had her wits about her. She couldn't see and couldn't walk but she was still coherent and could tewll you stories about the good ol days. I am taking it hard mainly because my other granda who is stil alive at 76 is a bitter old woman who lost her sight and and is now in the early stages of Dementia. When my grandpa died 11 years ago my 76 year old Grandma began smoking again really heavily and did nothing but lay around and eat junk food. I tried to get her out of the house but that didn't happen very often. One thing I will miss is her stories and the way she used to bake lemon bread and doughnut holes all the time. Another kind of funny thing is that she was the oldest living relative on my dads side of the family and we used to tease her that she has to stay alive so we can win the contest of oldest living relative at our annual Denison Family Reunion every year.
I decided to go to the LB concert tomorrow night in Boston as I didn't want to be alone and I think music would be be a great morall booster. I am going to miss her so much. How can I help you to say goodbye It's ok to hurt and it's ok to cry Come let me hold you and I will try How can I help you to say goodbye Matt Last edited by Nicks Fan; 10-12-2006 at 07:10 PM.. |
