That's very true. In fact I'd say America may be the only place where Stevie is more popular and more famous than Sheryl. |

The Time line up got more backlash simply because the songs they were covering were more famous. If they had been doing songs that fewer people are familiar with -- like Beautiful Child, people wouldn't have been compelled to compare as often. It's just like this Crash that Stevie does. I think people who know the Dave Matthews version are less receptive to it than people who have no familiarity with the song at all. I can tell you, I hate for her to do Rock and Roll. BTW Steve, it's not surprising to see bank tellers in black dresses, but do you often see them wearing black cloaks? 'Cause if you do, there's a good chance that they are imitating Stevie. When you ask them for a deposit slip, why don't you whisper "Rhiannon rings like a bell _______ " and see if they spontaneously complete the sentence. Every time they've had to add new people post-Kiln House, there have always been two new featured members on the following album. The only difference with Time is that they lost Stevie and Rick, but added Bekka and Dave. Christine was still in the band, just not on the road.

As much as I like Duffy, my suggestion was meant as a joke. I don't want them to add anyone to the Mac, unless of course they could persuade Christine to come back. For me there's only 3 good Fleetwood Mac's. 1. Peter Green's. 2. Lindsey, Stevie, and Christine. 3. Lindsey and Stevie. The other various versions are boring. And while I'm ranting, I think they should trim down the band. It's like some big traveling circus. Lindsey's solo tours proved you don't need all the extras. So how about..... 1. Lindsey 2. Stevie 3. John 4. Mick 5. A rhythm guitarist 6. A keyboardist Enough? |

Duffy has the most annoying voice heard in recent years.
And Sheryl Crow is a beautiful woman, but she's not in the Mac.

As for #6, the band I suppose does need someone playing some keyboard, but as far as I'm concerned does not need that keyboardist to operate a workstation with dozens of triggered patches & FX & all sorts of stupid stuff. Why should Fleetwood Mac sound like other rock bands? The hardware onstage that's in constant use throughout the set makes Fleetwood Mac indistinguishable from the ... Phil Collins band. Can any of you tell the difference between Lenny on congas & Taku on congas? How about Brett on boards & Dan Garfield on boards & Steve Thoma on boards? How about Carlos on rhythm guitar & Neale on rhythm guitar? It all blends together in the listener's brain. These guys are all skillful technicians & accomplished music performers, but none of them has the idiosyncrasies that make a guy like Mick Fleetwood or Lindsey Buckingham immediately recognizable. Why has Fleetwood Mac been stripping itself of its special personal qualities for so many years? It should have been emphasizing those qualities, not burying them under "smoothly professional."
