I know that in the past some posters have voiced complaints about Sharon & Lori on various songs, but I agree with Stevie that they are part of her solo sound, and I'm glad to hear them in many parts of this album.
Regarding Sharon & Lori's contributions, which IYD song do you think they add the most to? Are there any changes you would have made on the album - adding them to one song, cutting them from another? For me it's a toss-up between "Moonlight" & "You May be the One" - I think they're great on both. I'm surprised that they're not heard more on "Italian Summer" other than on the bridge - it just sounds like the kind of song they would be put in - but that having been said, I think it sounds perfectly fine without them in the other parts. So I'm surprised, not disappointed. (Their aaaahs on the bridge do remind me a bit of the opening to "Sable on Blonde", anyone else hear a similarity?) - Jake

I really like them on Everybody Loves You, they really add to the song when it changes from floating along all prettily to being quite intense.
I actually love how much she's utilised Sharon and Lori on IYD, it feels more like a classic Stevie record, I can't hear them at all on TISL.

I prefer when she sings the high harmony by herself especially in her "baby voice"!

People are really complaining? OMG. For me it's just not a Stevie Nicks album without Loretta and Sharona.

Their backing vocals and harmonies on this album are perfect. Not too much, and just enough. I found them ovewhelming on much of The Other Side of the Mirror and Street Angel, and on various RAL songs.

Or maybe I’m misunderstanding what you mean by “high harmony” & “baby voice” on this album? (FWIW doesn't sound like either, but it is her harmonizing with herself.)Quote:

I love Sharon and Lori on Doing The Best That I Can, they add so much to that song with their ah-ahs. Although, I don't really hear them much on the rest of TOSOTM, or on much of SA. Although, I may need to go and relisten to those albums, I suppose.
That being said, I adore Stevie harmonizing with herself; it's what makes Trouble In Shangri-La and For What It's Worth such brilliant songs. I like that IYD has a pretty good balance of Stevie harmonizing with Stevie, and usage of Sharon and Lori.

I'm with you, and I'd further that by adding that their background & harmonies contributions are the best on IYD out of *any* of Stevie solo albums. They never over reach or overwhelm Stevie's vocals. Instead they remain as they should - more subtle in mix, and are most effective and beautiful on "You May Be The One", WSS, SL & Moonlight. Now that it's brought up, the only songs from TISL I can recall hearing Lori & Sharon are "Every Day" & POTU, otherwise I hear lots of Sheryl, Natalie, Macy & Sarah. So I guess IYD is a full circle moment for the trio to some degree as well. But mostly I wish Stevie would harmonize even more with herself. She is her own best harmony singer imo. It's still quite evident when I listen to FWIW, and other little parts throughout the record.

I guess I just like backing vocals when they are subtle - as much as Stevie likes to refer to Sharon and Waddy and Lori as the "Stevie Nicks band", they are not a band and I don't particularly care to hear their voices on every song.

To me what’s strange on IYD – not in a bad way, just interesting – is how they just pop up in certain parts, like in “New Orleans”, where it’s just Stevie & then they’re there, & then gone again. - Jake

Jake, I was'nt talking about on this album! I just prefer her background harmonies to the girls background harmonies. That's all!
