My opinions, exactly. Except you can throw in Wide Sargasso Sea with them - from day one I haven't been able to get into this song, and I wonder what I'm missing since most people say it's one of their favorites! I'm still listening to the album all the way through a lot, but when I do just pick random songs to listen to - it's guaranteed not to be one of those three.

Voted for Wide Sargasso Sea ..this was an easier pick than the Stevie only thread,WSS is one of those songs that really only works if Stevie Nicks performs it and she sings the hell out of it.That is true of alot of her songs though which is why it is no easy task to cover her.

Too bad I can't pick two because IMO, "In Your Dreams" and "Ghosts Are Gone" are a very, very close 1-2.

I was a little worried about Wild Sargasso Sea too, but I finally listened to it in my husband's car (excellent stereo) and it won me over. Actually, it was the ending that really won me over.

I'm listening all the way through as much as I can, but sometimes skip the songs mentioned if I'm feeling inpatient.

Italian Summer is a pretty song, don't get me wrong, it's just not my thing.

Actually, I was playing IYD, probably from the Rolling Stone webpage, and my roommate asked me about "Wide Sargasso Sea". He recognized the singer, but not the song and it definitely had that "I really like this song" vibe to it.

My fave Stevie/Dave co-composition is "Everybody Loves You" - it's a superb song in every sense and is very reminiscent of latter-day Eurythmics (could have easily been on the "We Too Are One" album). I actually adore Dave in the chorus and also Stevie's (correct) pronunciation of "can't"!
I'm also particularly keen on "You May Be The One", but then I'm loving just about everything on the album after many listens.
The four songs I was cautious of in the beginning were "The Ghosts Are Gone"; "In Your Dreams"; "Wide Sargasso Sea" and "Soldier's Angel". I now really dig "Ghosts" and "In Your Dreams", although ideally, I would slightly change the instrumentation in both. I absolutely detested "Wide Sargasso Sea" upon first listen, but now am really getting into it. I also was won over by the ending and slowly but surely, the rest of the song has taken hold. I'm still not keen on the lyrics for the most part, but I'm getting beyond that enough to enjoy what is a pretty dynamic song. I read a review of of the album the other day that described this song as "English rock" and that charmed me even further.
As for "Soldier's Angel", I love the sound of it and Lindsey's contribution is sublime, but the god-awful lyrics simply make me cringe. Just about her very worst "poetry" in my opinion. Jesus Stevie, what were you thinking?

it's funny that so many have done 180's on Everybody Loves You, saying its drasticaly different then the clip we heard a year ago, but really that clip didn't really change at all. It just sounds way better surrounded by the other parts of the song. But that chorus is really identical other then Stevie changing how she says Can't.

I thought the clip was horrendous. Upon hearing the entire song, I think it's great, though. Yes, the chorus is rather pedestrian and dull... but the verses and intro are beautiful. It's truly one of my fav songs on the album. I never thought I'd say that judging by the clip!

90 Votes so far. Poll closes 2 weeks after OP. Winner here will then do a battle with the winner of the sister poll here:

ETA: Interestingly, shaping up to be Wide Sargasso Sea vs. You May Be The One

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

I'll have to abstain on this poll...I can't choose. Like I said in the other thread, I consider this album to be one complete body of work.

Well, THAT said, the one track that does get the ol' feet a tappin' and me doing crazy air guitar moves that would embarrass the hell out of me if anyone saw me doing them (when I'm not on stage actually PLAYING my guitar, that is )...

"Ghosts Are Gone" ok, so maybe I'll toss that one a vote on the poll. But, wait...that just negates my feelings about "Wide Sargasso Sea", "Italian Summer", & the title track, too. UGH!!

See? This is why "the album format is dying". People are so "track" oriented instead of taking in the entire album's statement. DAMN!! Now I'm getting pissed off and grumpy again...

I hope that this poll is not symptomatic of this problem--especially as its another way of generating thoughts on, as you point out, an album that is truly exemplary of the "album format"...

Great pick. I think the last half of Ghosts Are Gone takes off into the stratosphere.

I just hope Waddy feels the same way about Ghosts Are Gone. If he does, maybe we'll get it live. We know Stevie wants a rocker in her setlist. I always respected her sticking with FFG, but I didn't particularly like it. Ghosts Are Gone would be a replacement I could wholeheartedly support. Michele

Yes indeed. I hope not only she drops FFG but also Sorcerer, and does the obvious rockers from the new album GAG, IYD and WSS . plus You May Be The One, Moonlight, Annabel Lee & For What It's Worth. Is that asking too much Heck she could do this whole record and I could just die. nuff said.

You May Be The ONe, which is my favourite track on the album actually.
