For me, the album starts out great with "Secret Love" and each track gets *better* until the peak of "Moonlight". Then you think, "okay its downhill from here" but its not...you're amazed by how good the following songs after are. There isn't one mis-step.

Honestly, and maybe it's because so far i've only heard it once, but I'm not blown away by 'Soldier's Angel,' its in the vein of "Illume" which I never really loved. But I WILL give it about 100 more listens... just to be sure.

I like the "Gypsy" quote...... "lightning strikes maybe once, maybe twice".

I think clearly lightning has struck twice now: Bella Donna and now In Your Dreams

I think that the reason people love it is that they were expecting something overly sentimental and maudlin but instead its eerie and yet heartfelt. I personally think it's intense and moving, I love it.

Inspired by, yes. Imitating, no. You can hear Sheryl was heavily inspired by Stevie on her album Wildflower (especially her vocal style). I think Stevie just wanted to make a much more down to earth, straightforward album given the state of the world right now. And those are the kind of albums Sheryl is best at. I wonder if Sheryl was consulted in any way for this work? If she hung around the house some while it was made? Or if Stevie was just channeling her style to a certain degree?

I think that's precisely why I DO love Soldier's Angel... it reminded me of Illume instantly. I consider Illume to be the 21st Century's Gold Dust Woman, and GDW is one of my all time fav songs.

Agreed. I think "Illume" is a fantastic song.

You know when you think about it, Nicks' songwriting has really soared back to where it was. She was an amazing songwriter until Klonopin starting creating "long nets of white" clouding her memory. Since she got off it, her songwriting has sharpened back to where it was as evidenced by Trouble In Shangri-La, Say You Will and now In Your Dreams.

My initial feelings are that this reminds me of when I heard RAL. I wasn't particularly thrilled with it. I came to like some of the songs, but not to love the album. I'm feeling that way about IYD. Right now there's nothing that I've heard that comes close to a Belladonna or Wild Heart. I'm not getting a 'soul' from this record.

I think that Soldier's Angel offers a darkness and uniqueness that gives the album depth. Let's face it. It's not exactly about the soldier's. It's about Stevie's experience in the hospital, feeling their pain. She's trying to illustrate through the song that she understands their pain through their and their family's eyes. It's a sentiment thing. I don't think I have heard a song from this unique perspective. I guess that is what makes Stevie Stevie. It is only a song that Stevie Nicks could write. It's not my favorite on the album, but I really appreciate the production and the uniqueness of it. It certainly gives the album a grungy, heartfealt depth.

I think that Landslide inspired Chances Are. That was Sheryls attempt at Landslide. Good is Good was definitely an attempt at imitating the Beatles. That is what Sheryl is good at -imitating. The woman is talented. She does have her own style. But she has been heavily influenced by Stevie, Beatles and other classic rock artists. Stevie can be influenced by Sheryl too. I think New Orleans may be have been written because Sheryl was writing about New Orleans. When I heard For What It's Worth, I thought Sheryl would be saliviating. It's the kind of stuff she loves from that era.

I'm not blown away by this record. I would almost call it a Dave Stewart record with special guest vocals by Stevie Nicks.

I cant believe she didnt write the music for "New Orleans" or "Italian Summer". The magic Stevie has always givien to her music and melodies has always been what i loved most about her. These songs border on sounding actually quite generic.

I'm disappointed.

Am I the only one who finds For What Its Worth to be dull? This song isnt doing much for me.

Favorites so far are Moonlight, Wide Sargasso Sea, Italian Summer and Annabel Lee.
Unsure about Soldiers Angel, FWIW, You May be The One.
Cheaper Than Free is the weakest track IMO.

I'm liking Wide Sargasso Sea and Italian Summer more than I did at first listen; not that I disliked them before. I still think the intro on Everybody Loves You sounds ridiculous, as does her pronunciation of "can't." I think this might wind up being my least favorite song on here.

I hadn't listened to Secret Love in a while, but I've found myself liking it more in the context of the album.

I'm the same way. I'm neutral on it as a single, but when I listen to it as the opener to this, I really enjoy it.

I %100 agree. This is going to be my summer soundtrack if not my 2011.
