Yes exactly! (Just saw this now, but its spot on)

No Offense. I thought the suckage was equal on both ends...Rod AND Stevie. Neither Impressed me.

Someone made a comment about her not being happy during "Young Turks" and I totally agree! When she came out he said "We are going to do one of my songs and one of hers" and she just kind of scoweled...I think things hadnt been completely nailed down and she was half expecting him to just stick with Passion. So when they started with Young Turks instead she knew what was coming and was not happy the entire time.
It seems like under those circumstances, he should have been even more determined to make it sound awesome - and not screw up the lyrics!

You know what? I don't blame Stevie one bit. From that description it sounds like she was trying to subtly do whatever she could to avoid having to sing L&L that night. It's like she indirectly was trying to tell Rod..."Do you really think we can pull this song together in ONE practice! It's not going to happen!" I really don't think Rod really gets her music and I think it seriously irritates Stevie how easily he thinks a duet like that can come together. It shows how sacred Stevie's songs are to her and that she has no desire to sing her songs with anyone who won't take the time to respect them. Rant over! haha

This song is definitely one of her favorite "children." She wrote it while under Don's tutelage. Watching the interaction between Stevie & Don performing the song at the AHI back in 2000, one can see the stirred memories. It's personal--but all her songs are. She clearly didn't want to share that song with Rod. What song would she want to do with him? None. Stevie did a "duet" song with Taylor Swift. I'm sure no one wanted another disaster. Stevie missed a little bit on Young Turks, but Rod messed up on his OWN song and had the band restart--to him it was no big deal. Yes, as someone else posted, we've all seen Stevie do some minor mess ups on her own lyrics at times, too. She's just not wanting to let anyone else do it to one her songs.

I can understand both points of view. I can see how this may have been a forced thing, especially reading the sound check post. However.......I still think everyone is making a stinky poo out of nothing. Its a new song in the set, its not passion, and its a Stevie song.

BTW...Leather and Lace was played again tonight at the Garden. She must've gotten over it.

I noticed that too ! Nothing there at all. I think she's holding her own but he's much too laid back for her! I just want to see her solo, i want her all to myself. No sharing with Rod !!

ITA - It was one less Rod song and one more Stevie song! and When you are there in person you don't catch as many of the mess ups. (And L&L is mostly Stevie vocals anyway!)

and to clarify... by "fault" I meant it was more Stevie who was uncomfortable/uneasy about the performace than Rod. The point I was trying to make was that Rod didnt seem to care about giving it a go, and I can't fault him for that

BTW, here is my video from last night:

Thank you Wild Heart--great video. I do worry that Rod's going to pass the flu onto Stevie. Did you check his wiping????

She needs to chill out a little more.. she seems so "by the book"... Gotta be perfect! Can't mess up! Relax... it's all fun... An audience likes a little humanity in a peformance.

Good video WildHeart69

i'm with you. plus seems fair to do one of hers and one of his songs as a duet. passion didn't do anything for her.

stevie fans kept complaining since this tour started how he out-stages her. so isn't it good for her that she out-stages him for once by doing this duet? (well, he seems sick too, hope he doesn't have long term consequences after dragging on that flu.) and audience even though mostly his apparently knows and enjoys the song, so this gives stevie's music additional exposure (which one would think is one of the reasons she's doing this tour in the first place, other than piling up cash).

glad the song is still in the set, hope it stays.

Rod, get yourself a teleprompter. I'm sure Cory can hook you up.

Oh, like Stevie tries to make Don't Stop her own?

I guess that's great. But not with a duet, with the original artist right there with you.
