[QUOTE=realsavagelike;956375] I don't think this is the quote I was looking for exactly, because I remember her saying something about him being in a different city from where she was and he called her and asked if she would drive down to where he was, and she, having the feelings described above, said "That's a real long way to go to say goodbye," then hung up and wrote the song. Anybody know where I could be remembering this is from? :::going to search more:::QUOTE]

I remember this very clearly and I'm almost positive that I heard it on a double album Q & A thing that I used to have called Reflections From The Other Side Of The Mirror. Of course, knowing Stevie like us diehards do, she may have used that same explanation, verbatim, in multiple other places as well!
Hope that helps. Ricoh

If I "quote" in a reply post, and it ends up looking like my post above, does that mean you cant edit the quote you've quoted and have it look like a normal quote? I assume that since I cut all of the quote except what I was specifically replying to!?
Apologies for being way off topic!

Hi! And yes, you can edit the quote you quoted. I think you're just missing [/ and there you have it! Kind of hard to explain but hope that helps and no worries, we all do it sometimes.

I never heard from anyone, so I guess it's every man/fan for himself, huh? That's just fine then.

Then, let's just watch the prices soar, folks! And... we're off!

You've just been outbid. Do you want to bid again?

The seller has listed some new stuff. There are 35mm slides that look to be from the making of If Anyone Falls among other things. I wonder what else is going to be put up for auction?

For me personally, I'm more interested in paying or bidding on outtakes/demos that we are in desperate need of a premium upgrade i.e., She Loves Him Still, Chanel, Chanel, I Call You Missing, Something Exquisite, Tied Up...essentially just all the RAL outtakes and demos songs that have not been released.

Christopher, the point of my post above, is that there is already a contingency here at work to get these tapes for themselves and NOT share them with us or even allow those who have offered to contribute funds.

I offered to help, but, since that was rejected... Let's just watch~

Mike, I can tell you that I am not bidding on the auction. I think it's a great idea to get all of us on the same page here and not to work against one another when we all would like the same outcome. But I also don't think anyone here who has posted about this topic is of the mindset "every fan for himself" and would be intentionally bidding against another Ledgie (although of course I couldn't know one way or another).

I'm out of work right now (meaning zero income at the moment)... so I wouldn't be able to contribute much in terms of securing one of these auctions. However, I would be happy to contribute something if at all possible for an auction that's really worth it...

The thing I've learned with Ebay is to decide that absolute maximum you want to pay. Then, wait until there are about 15-20 seconds left and bid your maximum amount then. The reason is because if you want to spend no more than $500 on the tapes and it is currently at $300... well their maximum bid might be $375. If you bid and bid and bid until you are the highest bidder, say $380, then they are going to turn around and outbid you again. However, if you let them think they are winning with the price at $300 and their max bid at $375 and then you swoop in in the last 15 seconds with a bid of $502, the price will only go up to the next level above their max bid, around $380 or so. Of course if their max bid is more than yours, they win. Thats why I say choose the absolute maximum you want to spend and then add a dollar or two to it just incase they chose that even dollar amount too. That way, if you lose, it is because you simply didn't want to spend that much money on it and not that someone else got you at the end.

I have the money, and I know what I'm doing. I have no illusions of getting the tapes. There was talk of a lot of us getting together, private messages sent, offers of helping out made, and then... ???? What happened to all that? Kinda silent, huh?

By bidding, I was merely trying to illustrate the obvious:

There's already a group together with a huge spending limit, and they're gonna win, no matter what. But if they wanna keep their little Stevie cache all to themselves, I'm gonna help them pay as much as possible for excluding everyone else.

We spent THOUSAND$$$ on the Stevie Masters in 2001~2005 and we GAVE them ALL AWAY. No holding back. NO selling of them. We shared with the Stevie Community. But the snipers in the new crew seem to have their own agenda.

Fine. Pay more. And more. I'll help facilitate that.

Haha I like the way you think Mike! I'd for sure pitch in if I had the money, but being that I am a broke college kid, I can't :[ I hope you end up winning them tho!

I'm not going to win. I'm clueless on sniping, and I'm sure the Cabal has limitless funds. But I'm having fun driving up what they will eventually have to pay for 7 tapes and FIVE MORE DAYS of me driving up the price for them!
