I like to have a relationship with all of my doctors. My GP is leaving her practice an June and I am terribly bummed out about it. She is young enough that I thought we would grow old together

But they all move now! My GP was probably only 35. She said she could make more money in Indianapolis, than my town. She also told me that a GP only makes about 100K(I really had no idea, but I figured it was more than that).

In the past 10-15 years, I've had probably 5 different doctors. They don't retire....they move. I guess the days of doctors setting up a practice, and retiring there 35 years later, are over.

But I too, have to like the doctor. No cold fish for me. This one, was always on me(pre-weight loss) about my blood pressure and cholesterol. I'd always demand that she go out in the parking lot with me, and I'd race her from end to end. If I won, no meds. If she did, I'd take em. She never would take me up on it, but we always had a really good laugh over it!

always late to the party.

but for future advice: all of the previously mentioned foods are great. you mostly don't want to eat things that can get caught in the extraction site-popcorn, potato chips, etc.

do not: suck through a straw, suck on candy, do any forceful spitting or smoke for the first 72 hours after an extraction. a clot forms at the base of the extraction site and that's what protects everything and allows it to heal. if anything pulls the clot out (sucking through a straw, etc) or dissolves it (really really hot things), that's when you have a dry socket. basically, exposed bone. you mostly want to stay away from cold things for your comfort. when you remove a tooth, usually the root is exposed on the adjacent teeth and super cold things will make it sensitive.

hope you're feeling better after your extractions and be thankful you went ahead and got them out while you're young. i had 2 lower extractions when i was in my early 20's. they were both impacted and boney (a piece of bone was covering them so they have to flick that bone out and dig the tooth out) and i healed up in a few days. i had an upper one taken out that was simple and it still hasn't closed it's been almost 2 months and i'm 32

I had all 4 pulled at the same time. The top ones came out like butter, but the bottom ones refused. He pulled and pulled...not to mention that I'm the guy that they can't get numb. It's nothing for them to have to give me 10-15 Novocaine injections, sometimes more. He had to cancel his next THREE appointments, because he couldn't get them out. My roots were intertwined with each other(interlock your fingers). He finally sawed them in half, and pulled out the pieces(most of them).

I was those black and blue purple streaks, all the way down onto my chest. My head swelled up like a basketball. I tried to take Vicodin, but it makes me nauseous, and combined with the copious amounts of blood, that was still coming from the holes, wasn't a good combination. Vomiting, would have been a true nightmare. So I just dealt with it, with some Advil. I had root slivers, working their way out of my gums, for about 2 years.
Without a doubt, the worst "medical" thing, that has ever happened to me.
if they are giving you 10-15 carpules of anesthesia, they might need to switch to a different local. maybe septocaine..marcaine..something. the septocaine has smaller molecules so it can penetrate through the bone easier. 10-15 carpules is way too much. you might suggest getting there 30 minutes earlier next time, let them give the anesthesia, sit you up and give it time. it takes me a lot, alos, and time usually helps the most.

did you find out what the black and blue streaks were down your chest? sure you weren't having an allergic reaction? perhaps an OD on anesthesia ?

more than likely the "slivers" were bone spurs. that happens sometimes. they feel like little splinters and they work their way out and hurt like a mo fo.

It was bruise streaks.

All I can tell you, is that the last time he finally got me numb, he said something about me being weird, with a "third nerve block".

I had oral surgery on Friday and now I have stitches in between a couple of my teeth. It's making me crazy because I keep working them with my tongue. Braces got postponed until June, thanks to this procedure. Hello I'd like to get them paid off before my TODDLER needs orthodontia.

I hate going to the dentist, even for a cleaning.

How much are braces, these days?
