In other words, touring with someone else would be counter-productive, since he'd be betraying his fans (I absolutely hate indie rock) and be stuck with a bunch of hipsters who just want this old, balding guy to get off the stage (even though he does play a damn good guitar). In other words, I'd rather see him in a smaller venue alone and have to pay a bit more than in a bigger one as an opening act and get to pay less, only to then see some band I could care less about.
I like indie rock I'm also a classic rock/Metal fan but a lot of my new favourite stuff is indie, though maybe not all indie rock - Animal Collective, Iron & Wine, Radical Face etc. I think Lindsey fits pretty well in with the likes of Animal Collective even though he's not half as weird. They've even mention him and Tusk as influences on their sound and you can really hear it on certain albums of theirs (Sung Tongs). Now, if by indie rock you mean The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs etc. then I totally agree with you.

I meant stuff like what you said that you'd agree with me on. It'd be cool to see him perform with those indie bands that were influenced by Tusk and maybe (this is me dreaming), he performs Tusk in it's entirety with one of 'em, but he's still the kinda guy that should be a main act

Lindsey has a specific fan base and, personally, I want to see him for nearly 2 hours. Not 1/2 an hour with 80% of the venue wishing he'd get the hell off so XXX can go on.
Exactly!!! I've been going nuts waiting for him to tour SOLO, as I've never had the pleasure, and I so hope it's in a smaller venue so it feels more personal...more connected. He is at his best in the smaller places. He seems happier and more relaxed when the audience is right in his face. I can't think of any reason ( including money, since he doesn't need it ) that he would want to play in big shows and/or as an opener. An opener?? Noooooooooo

Indie rock is such a vague descriptor these days. I listen to a lot of what is considered indie rock and, musically, there are similarities there. Bands with layers of sounds, creative uses of instruments and vocals, etc. In a lot of ways, it would be a good fit to double bill Lindsey with a band like Mumford & Sons or Vampire Weekend (aka the oxymoronic genre of mainstream indie rock) because there isn't a huge gap musically and likely, he would pull in fans. I think the larger issue there would be more of an age or generation gap. How many of Lindsey's fans would go to a co-headline show with a band that might not yet be on their radar? It'd be good for Lindsey, I think, especially if he played first, but there might be some awkwardness in the sense that the "old guy" is opening for the "new kids".

I agree -- I don't think Lindsey himself would have any interest at all in opening for a big act. His solo career is his chance to have things his way.
I'm nevously waiting on news of this release / tour so I can start planning. A summer outing would be great but I have a nasty feeling it's going to be a late summer / autumn thing if he's only firming up the project's title now.
