Default Lindsey's touring plans this year?

SO assuming Lindsey's new cd comes out in May,(or thereabouts) one could assume that he would want to tour fairly soon after it's release meaning some sort of summer tour would be probable. I had a discussion in PM with LukeA the other day, and it is his opinion that Lindsey may be an opening act for another major artist early this summer. He explained that he thought Lindsey and whoever he would tour with wold play large outdoor theaters because alot of small indoor theater's that Lindsey has played the last couple of tours dont have air conditioning. I REALLY hope this doesn't happen because I have no interest whatsoever in paying inflated prices for an act I dont have any interest in seeing. Let's hope if this theory is true, he waits till fall so that the smaller theaters are in play.

Wow. I really want to see Lindsey but I can't afford all these high priced tickets! I hope we get an update from his camp soon on what he's doing.

i'm confused - during UTS tour, Lindsey played the whole leg throughout june (see http://www.fleetwoodmac-uk.com/album...tourdates.html) - so i don't understand this reasoning.

either way, i hope he can announce some dates soon, b/c i keep trying to hold my may/june clear of any travel, but need to coordiante many travel plans this summer - and i do not want to miss LB tour, whatever form or shape it takes.

That's a great point. I always take my vacation in May/June. But I wouldn't want to make plans without being sure to catch Lindsey in NYC--and maybe make a trip out of seeing him elsewhere.

Shoot, the scenario of Lindsey touring with a big-name band and thus costing big bucks to see had not even occurred to me or my budget. BAD NEWS. I sure hope it doesn't go down that way.

I'll see him either way provided he comes somewhere near the bay area of California.

I can see that happening and working out, depending on who it is. I'm hard-pressed to think of anyone mainstream that I'd really WANT to see him open for but that's not to say there isn't anyone and that it wouldn't be a good idea. It really depends who it is. I'd probably go to at least one show, especially if I like the headliner, should it happen.

I don't think Lindsey's album is coming any time soon. The marketing for In ZYour Dreams was already a little too late, and we don't even have proper confirmation for Lindsey's.

Well, you never know with these things. I don't think the music business is that predictable anymore. I have confidence there will be an album, though he better hurry up with some info here because I'm making my summer plans and need to know if he's actually touring or not.

It could be coming soon enough. Fleet Foxes just announced their new album a couple of days ago and it's coming out in the first week of May. I think it'll be some time this month if it's going to be an early summer release.

What if he opened for John Mayer ?

That would be good.

Ugh. That would not be good. Lindsey is a legend for goodness sakes. I'm sorry but he doesn't need to be opening for anyone. I don't care of it gives him more exposure. Personally, I would prefer him to play in the same types of places he plays solo and not cater to someone else's schedule. I think John Mayer is really pretty fantastic- I've seen him live. He's wonderful. But LB doesn't need to open for him.

Honestly, I thought there was a certain integrity in playing those smaller venues and actually having fan-contact that is nearly impossible when going out with the Big Machine (tm LB).

But, as part of the Big Machine, being a small potato for a younger act (i.e., opening for them) smacks of washed-up-hood.
And I don't like that idea.

Plus, yeah, there are money issues. I'm tired of paying for stuff that I have interest in (Unleashed tour, anyone?)

Lindsey has a specific fan base and, personally, I want to see him for nearly 2 hours. Not 1/2 an hour with 80% of the venue wishing he'd get the hell off so XXX can go on.

I gotta agree with you on that. While I do enjoy Bucky, my main music taste is old-school rock and metal (OK, I like some modern thrash metal, but that's about it) and I absolutely hate indie rock, and I have a feeling the same goes for his other fans. In other words, touring with someone else would be counter-productive, since he'd be betraying his fans (I absolutely hate indie rock) and be stuck with a bunch of hipsters who just want this old, balding guy to get off the stage (even though he does play a damn good guitar). In other words, I'd rather see him in a smaller venue alone and have to pay a bit more than in a bigger one as an opening act and get to pay less, only to then see some band I could care less about.
