Lindsey Buckingham To Be Honoured At Ascap Gala

FLEETWOOD MAC star LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM has been named the recipient of the 2011 ASCAP Golden Note Award.

The honour will be presented to the singer/songwriter at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers' sixth annual 'I Create Music' EXPO in Los Angeles at the end of March (11).

The Golden Note Award is presented to songwriters, composers and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones.

Previous honorees include Tom Petty, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Garth Brooks.

ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams says, "From the classic California cool of Buckingham, (Stevie) Nicks and Fleetwood MAC to his ambitious solo work, Lindsey's distinguished career has earned him a permanent place in the history of American music and we're delighted to welcome him as a special guest at this year's EXPO and honour him with ASCAP's Golden Note Award."

Fleetwood Mac's Buckingham for ASCAP honour

Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham is to receive the Golden Note Award for lifetime achievement from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), it has been announced.

Billboard reports that the 'Go Your Own Way' singer will receive the prize during the organisation's 'I Create Music' event in Los Angeles this spring.

Besides accepting the prize in person during the gala, Buckingham will also lecture attendees on his approach to songwriting and composing music.

Previous recipients of the Golden Note Award have included Quincy Jones, Tom Petty and Stevie Wonder.

The singer-guitarist has released six US top 40 LPs as a member of Fleetwood Mac as well as a half-dozen solo albums. Buckingham left Fleetwood Mac in 1987 but reunited with his bandmates for live record The Dance a decade later.

ASCAP's sixth annual 'I Create Music' expo will be held from April 28 to April 30 at LA's Renaissance Hollywood Hotel.

Last month, Buckingham was honored with the Les Paul Award for his production and engineering skills at the TEC Awards at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) convention in Anaheim, California.

Lindsey Buckingham to be Honored with "Golden Note" Award

This spring is a good one for members of Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks is launching a joint tour with Rod Stewart next month and releases a new CD in May, and now comes the news that her ex-boyfriend and bandmate Lindsey Buckingham will be honored in Los Angeles.

On April 29th, Lindsey Buckingham will receiving the this year's Golden Note Award from the performing rights society ASCAP. It's an award that is given to songwriters and artists who have achieved "extraordinary career milestones." Previous winners include Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty and Garth Brooks.

Right after he gets the award, Buckingham will give a rare interview to the audience, during which he'll discuss his work with Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. Look for him to release a new solo album later this year.

I second the appreciation. Thank you for all of your updates, viv. I tried to maintain a mac blog awhile ago and it was too timeconsuming for me. So I'm impressed.
