Secret Love just sounds ordinary to me and maybe lacks some Stevie mystique. I've played it numerous times. If I don't love it by now, then I won't ever love it.
I wouldn't worry too much. Remember, Everyday was the first single for TISL... and I think it's pretty safe to say everyone thinks that song is a middle-of-the-road boring piece of crap. Speaking of middle-of-the-road boring pieces of crap, remember how Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind was the lead single from Street Angel? How about Love's A Hard Game To Play from Timespace? Secret Love may not be the best thing she's ever recorded, but it's lightyears ahead of the lead singles she's released the past 20 years.

Actually "Sometimes it's a Bitch" was the lead single from Timespace ..not that it's any great shakes either.

That's what I've been telling myself too.

"Secret Love" was named as one of "Five Songs You Should Hear" in the Sunday 1/23 edition of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

She massacred Rhiannon by the Tusk tour.

No, but I'm serious. Actually by the end of the Rumours tour (78' Largo- check it out), it was pretty much the end of the exorcism versions until the Street Angel Tour.

You got some video of that SA exorcism?

I don't know. Mobile 1980 was probably the last truly amazing Rhiannon exorcism, although there are a few during the Mirage tour.

I only have one Tango recording of Rhiannon, and that's pretty fabulous, and there's a sensational one in 1990 that floored me, I thought it was from the 80s.

I still say Stevie can pull off an amazing Rhiannon today, I have one from 2008 that I totally love, but, only if you don't compare it to the ones in the 70s. Half the time though, she just sounds bored. Rhiannon needs some passion in it.

Yes, at home on DVD.

Check out the Chicago and Ohio stops. Both are out there in the trading world. Plus, tons of audio. I recommend you check out the HOB dubbed vocal version. THAT is an exorcism.

I agree, I love the HBO version as well as a few from the Tango and Mask tours. However, the 76' (Midnight Special) and Rosebud Doc versions are UNTOUCHABLE.

I'm not so sure here either. Don't get me wrong, they're both sensational. Rosebud was a one-off, and it's such a shame that a high-quality version doesn't exist! The Midnight Special is also amazing. Butbutbut. My favourite ever Rhiannon is from LA 1975 (at least, that's what I have it down as) and, in my eyes, it can't be topped. At all.

Once it hits the 5:00 mark, it gets pretty epic, pretty quickly.

Hehe, the 75' and 76' tours go without saying I think. Rhiannon was pretty much the only song she sang all night (that was her's).

Here's a little glimpse of SA Rhiannon. They only got better as the tour went on.

I'll NEVER understand why people were criticising her weight on this tour. Unless it got worse as the tour went on, she looks really skinny in that video. Have you seen the EO17 on the SA tour where she takes the mic off the stand? =O

Absolutely! I have a bunch of DVD's from the tour. One of her best set lists! She did No Spoken Word, Blue Denim, Talk to Me, and Rooms on Fire all in one tour. Those are some of my dream songs in there!

Also, I have an infatuation with 'Maybe Love.' I have always loved that song on the album and live.

It may be considered a lacklust album, but from what I've seen/heard from the Street Angel tour, her live performances were anything but that. She sounds and looks really good. Rick Vito made the band even better. And the stage decor was really cool. Sorry I missed seeing a show on that tour. Still looking for a tour program!

it's very good louie. i think her vocal is the most impressive part of it. she really sounds inspired. it probably is just chum for the waters, but stand-alone, i think it's a great single. i mean, a single can't be too opaque. the lyrics are accessible. i just hope it gets some radio play.
