She sounds better than she did on TISL...

I just feel like crying.
She really does. She has her voice back. She's singing higher and clearer than she has since the 1980s. She sounded like a 90 year old chain smoker on TISL. Just listen to Everyday and Secret Love back to back... it's shocking. She sounds like she's had a freaking awakening or something on Secret Love... she's found her muse and reason to care again. It's so hard to believe we're hearing a 62 year old rock veteran... she just radiates youthfulness and passion on this track. God, I haven't gushed in so long... it's not freaking natural anymore!

OMG! I actually got a fright when I heard Every Day after hearing Secret Love for 20 minutes.
Louie, thanks for that great post.
Everything sounds so right, and everything sounds amazing.

Default great voice

she is in amazingly fine voice on this! and the wistful , longing quality of her voice is front-and-center. much moreso than i've heard in a while. BTW that pic is pretty good too. it seems like she's looking through an empty mirror frame. anyhoo, enough of my slightly tipsy ramblings. i just do like this song!

People will hear it, and if it keeps getting played on the radio, by the time May rolls around, more people will be aware of the fact that Stevie has a solo album out than they would have if she released both the single and album in March. So it's a slow burner.

While GaGa will shine immediately, Stevie will slowly build up momentum.

Or something like that.

"Secret Love" is not appropriate for a lead single. I can usually hear the potential for a Stevie demo in my head- changing the rhythm, changing the instrumentation, etc. This is one song that I simply cannot see turning into a hit single, let alone a lead single. Yes, it's a charming, intimate little ditty. But it's flawed, e.g., "oooh-wee, listen to me..." . It's too low-key. It doesn't say "hey bitches, guess who's back?" Rather, it says "hey, um... did y'all miss me?" And if a vault song is being pushed out first, what does this say about all of the newly-written songs? I'm starting to not feel so good about this...
For some reason, I don't feel this will be her lead single. I see it as someone posted earlier, as a promotional single. I think the point of it is to kinda say "hey, um... did y'all miss me?" to the older Stevie fans out there and slowly take the time to reach people who are more involved with their lives than being on top of the news of the music industry. I agree that it is supposed to be a "slow burner", but I don't think it is meant to act on its own. I think it is just the preparation. Get the song and the word about a new Stevie Nicks album out there, and then sometime around May 3, release a catchier/edgier/more rocking single from Stevie that will say "hey bitches, guess who's back!" That being said, I love it!

Listening to "Secret Love" kinda makes one think she jumped the gun with releasing "Crystal Visions" back in 2007. I can totally hear this song being included in a greatest hits package!

But then again, who are we kidding? We'll probably get another "greatest hits" CD in another 10 years. The Definitive Collection!

I really like the song, but i agree....this is actually good promoting. This will not be the lead single for the album to promote it, its to get all of us fans to preorder and get pumped. There will be something else coming in april i bet!

I hope y'all are wrong... I totally dig this song, and think it just sparkles out of the speakers. It's upbeat, it's short, it's very accessible, and I think it's a good showcase of who Stevie is and has always been. Even my non-Stevie loving boyfriend is thoroughly impressed with the song.

I hope instead WB is taking a page from Adele's book... she released "Rolling In The Deep" as a single several months before her new album. I think it's built tremendous excitement for Adele's new album, which is slated to be released in 2 weeks. I just hope this song doesn't get swept aside for some middle of the road crap the way Planets essentially was for Everyday. But y'all are probably right... that's exactly what will happen.

Is it just me or does this sound a little like "Pure Shores" by All Saints? That track was produced by William Orbit and I'm getting that kind of vibe from this bouncy little number.

I love this song too, but I do think WB has ulterior motives. I think with it being Stevie Nicks, there is no way they can promote the new album on a three month old single. This isn't the only thing up their sleeve either. The single will be released Feb 3... right now the pre-order gives you a free download of the single, but in two and a half weeks, who the hell is going to be enticed by that when they can go buy the single from i-Tunes for $1.29? If I were to bet, I'd say they are going to change the pre-order package before it is released. Perhaps they will simply drop the free single and include a signed litho. Or they may come up with new packages, such as a deluxe edition which contains the documentary and a signed litho, or a vinyl with a signed litho and mp3 downloads the day of the release. The point? To make all of us who rushed out and pre-ordered it today to pre-order it (or a different package of it) again!

Wow!! I'm just amazed. This song even sounds good on a crappy laptop speaker!! Does anyone know the back story to this song? I would be interested in knowing about it.

She has defied the law of degeneration and has pushed out beyond the clamor of the 60ish rock legends to an actual evolution of her voice...fresh, crisp, rippling across the flowing fabric which is her song...her beautiful song.

This is glaring sunlight in an otherwise overcast winter. I just love it...

You people out here in ledgie land just make me happy! Damn happy!!! Thank you!!
