ROD STEWART & STEVIE NICKS

Today not just one, but two legendary musicians are stopping by! ROD STEWART and STEVIE NICKS are here, and they’ll both sing one of their classic hits. Plus, they’ve got an exciting announcement that you don’t want to miss!

Before the hilarious RICKY GERVAIS hosted the Golden Globes last year, he told Ellen he wasn’t planning on being asked back. It must have been a big surprise when he found out he’s doing it again this year -- and he’s telling Ellen what to expect.

So looks like Stevie and Rod will be performing separately since they don't have a classic hit together (that I'm aware of)
Frak--this really sounds like they're touring. It's becoming increasingly difficult to remain in denial.

Dave tweeted this Rod tour is not her album promo tour. Some dates would be nice to get clarity. Or a confirmation from Dave would be even nicer.

Well at least now we know she's NOT performing a new song! Let's hope it's something besides Stand Back or Landslide. How about TALK TO ME Stevie.

Once Dave revealed his album was not coming out till MAY last night, then reiterated Stevie's was coming out late spring, that pretty much ended my excitement that Stevie would be performing a new song. It's obvious they are doing a quick tour together cause Mama needs the money to supplement her solo album, tour, and some of the financing of this film/documentary , as well as keep up her entourage's payroll. Stevie's practical side had been in full bloom the last decade. All that touring, while not risking putting out new material until now. She's hedging her bets. Rod Takes off to Europe to begin some dates in June. So this Rod/Stevie tour will be happening pretty quickly, and most likely hit arena's somewhere between March-May?

Why do I have a strange feeling that Rod will perform a song, Stevie will perform a song (an old song), then the two of them will announce a mini tour, and the credits will roll...and there will be NO MENTION whatsoever of Stevie's upcoming album.

If she doesn't mention her new album on Ellen, I will be pissed. It's obvious now that they're announcing their tour together, but will she she also squeeze in the new album.

I see this gig with Rod as Stevie's "insurance policy" in the event her album bombs (hopefully that will not be the case). Plus it gets her name out there in the limelight ahead of her release.

The question now is will she perform any new songs on this tour with Rod before her album drops. Also it begs the question, If this pairing is a runaway success, will they add more shows throughout the year? In addition will Stevie run the risk of over-saturating the market if and when she decides to tour alone to promote her new cd.

Well, I guess I was wrong I actually think this is kind of funny. God, what a pair. If it were the ol' rock and roll Rod, I'd be super excited. But I consider him a 100% sellout. He makes music that even he doesn't like just for the bucks. Yuck!

OK, so I guess now more speculation is in order.

1. How much are tickets going to be? I'm guessing there won't be anything under $100.

2. Who will go on first? I actually hope that Stevie goes on second, so I can avoid traffic, get to the concert late, and just go sit down when she's on.

3. How long will her set be???? If I end up shelling out big bucks, I better get a complete set!

4. Will they do a duet? Leather and Lace? Hot Legs? You're in my Heart? When I'm 64?

Kevin

The only way this would not be an "album promo tour" is if the tour occurred well before the album gets released- perhaps in the March-April timeframe. And this may explain why the album has been pushed back- so Stevie can go on one last nostalgic cash grab before she starts plugging away at her loss leader, er, new album. This is consistent with the fact that Stevie is expected to perform a "classic" as opposed to a new song on the Ellen show. Yes, she will mention that she's got something coming out soon, but I don't think this appearance, nor the Rod-Stevie tour, is about that.

Regardless of whether you want to call this a co-headlining tour or not, somebody gotta go on first! And I would bet dollars-to-donuts that it ain't gonna be Rod. Yes, I think Rod is a disgusting cheeseball sellout. But you have to admit that at least he has been prolific and he has treated his fanbase to lots of "new" music over the past decade.

Makes total sense...and I guess it's good for promotion too. She'll be able to use this mini tour thing with Rod to draw attention to the new album and new tour.

Hey, we still have alternating who goes first as an option. Maybe they can take odds on this in Vegas.

I would actually want her to go on first so I can leave early. I don't have anything against Rod and he has some songs that I'd like to see live, but I'd rather be at home, when all is said and done. So I'll hit the exits when she's done.

Thing is, she may do an appearance in his set and vice versa. So, we may be trapped there for the entire 2-3 hours.

I could see her doing her Stand Back dance on Da ya think I'm sexy? ...

Somehow when that song came out and Rod was in his spandex, I never thought I'd be going to see him sing it at this stage in his life...

I used to always think this about Robert Palmer and "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On". I used to say, with that laconic attitude (per the video) what are the odds that he'd turn you on deliberately, much less unintentionally and will he be singing that as his showstopper for the rest of his life?

Unfortunately, he died and I will never know how it would have gone over in his sixties. His heart attack at the age of 54 made me think of our own guy.
