So this confirms that Stevie is performing something. It only makes sense that she will be performing a new song esp. on the cusp of her upcoming release which she is excited about - why else would she be on Ellen? And Ricky did play on some of the sessions for Stevie's new album, so he knows the material. I don't know if any of you are Adele fan's but she debuted her new song on Ellen back in November while her new release is slated for Feb.

When Stevie performed Stand Back all those other TV appearances, she was promoting the likes of Timespace, Enchanted, Crystal Visions, all greatest hit's or compilations with the exception of her 05' Today show appearance in which she showed up to lend support after hurricane Katrina.

Looks likely we'll be hearing new material next week. I bet next week we will also get a ton more information in regards to her record. PR releases and such. Here's hoping we still get a March release
Ahh, now this seems like the good news we were all hoping for. Thanks for the heads up, Christopher!

I think it's looking likely we'll be hearing new material next week. I'm also betting next week or soon after her Ellen appearance we'll start seeing official information: release date, album title, track listing, PR releases and such. Things are beginning. Here's hoping we still get a March release
I would be absoutlely shocked if she played anything new unless a single is officially released before the 13th and I would not hold my breath on that.More likely we'll get Stand Back or Landslide again.

I think it's very probable. I know we can all be cynical since we've all been living on Stevie's back catalogue/similar set lists & demos (for sanity's sake) for what seems like forever now, But that's exactly why I think she's going to perform something new and exciting. She performed "Fall From Grace" at the Blockbuster awards before TISL release date and it wasn't even close to being a single. It was a shock.

Stevie only goes on a national TV show's to promote whatever project she is selling. She will obviously be talking about her new record, and also possibly announcing her summer tour with Rod if thats actually true and not a typo. Stevie's appearance is not yet listed on Ellen's official web site. Her site only confirms through Jan.12th as of now. So this locatetv site http://www.locatetv.com/tv/ellen-deg...ason-8/6971387 is looking more like a typo (fingers crossed). For Ellen to have Stevie Nicks, Ricky Gervais AND Rod Stewart all on the same show is a heavyweight line-up.

But otherwise it's totally reasonable that Warners could release a single to Itunes and Amazon next week. The record is finished & mixed and has already been making the rounds... from marketing, to the president of Live Nation, all the way to missy Michelle Branch hearing the final product.

Again I look at the recent example being, as I mentioned in my previous post, Adele performing her great new single "Rolling in the Deep" on Ellen Dec. 3rd, just 3 days after it was released to Itunes. Yes, this is all speculative & based on rational and practical deduction. But Stevie has a practical side too, as does her record label. From all accounts Stevie wants people to hear her new exciting record that she seems so proud of. If she doesn't do a new song, she is missing a huge opportunity! I think it's possible she'll perform 2 songs: one new, one old. Especially if it's Dave Stewart and not Rod Stewart on Ellen with her next week.

Default US Fest

Stevie also sang "Stand Back" at the U.S. Festival in Calif before "The Wild Heart" was at record stores. If you look at the YouTube video, she even mentions that the album was only coming soon. (it was released about 2 weeks later.) If WB is putting her on the telly this soon, I would suspect a single is about to drop, with the CD probably coming in another month.

I remember a press release for the Blockbuster Awards listing that Stevie and Sheryl were going to perform "Sorcerer". I was pumped! Then when the show aired, Macy Gray announced that Stevie & Sheryl would be singing "Fall From Grace" and my heart sank. I was really looking forward to hearing "Sorcerer". Almost as fast as it sank, it lifted up again as soon as I heard the song! I LOVED that performance! Stevie hit EVERY high note as it was recorded! Same with the TISL tour, and I don't think she's hit those notes since.

Anyway, your post just made me remember that brilliant performance! Here's hoping they give us some sort of preview of the new album on Ellen!

I don't see how Stevie could go on Ellen and announce a new album but sing an oldie. "I've got a new amazing album coming out soon! Now let's here Landslide for the 9575th time!" So I would hope she would kick up her game and perform a new song. Also, singles usually drop on Tuesdays right? Perhaps we will get a new Stevie single this Tuesday so they can say "DOWNLOAD THE NEW SINGLE NOW ON ITUNES!" ....but I am not holding my breath. She could very well come out and do Landslide or Stand Back, but if she isn't going to do a new song, she should atleast bring out a rare one. Love Is. Or how about Nightbird anyone?!

Guys, the chances of it being a typo are slim to none.

I have a strong feeling that this is a PR move on WB's part for Stevie to premiere her debut single for the album. Remember, WB is one of Ellen's showrunners, so it only makes sense that Stevie would make her first appearance in relation to the new album on HER show and not the Today Show or even The View. That was a very calculated move.

Also, since when has Stevie ever gone on a show to only promote a tour? In 2005-06 she was touring behind nothing, and didn't appear on any shows to promote those tours. And in 07 and 09 she was on Ellen and Today to promote CV and Soundstage. So this has to be an appearance to officially announce that she has a new album on the way.

^^^I agree with you. And Ellen is known for her love of music. I just don't want Rod Stewart on the same show, much less the same stage.

This is the official email from Ellen:

Thursday, January 13
ROD STEWART & STEVIE NICKS

Today not just one, but two legendary musicians are stopping by! ROD STEWART and STEVIE NICKS are here, and they’ll both sing one of their classic hits. Plus, they’ve got an exciting announcement that you don’t want to miss!

Before the hilarious RICKY GERVAIS hosted the Golden Globes last year, he told Ellen he wasn’t planning on being asked back. It must have been a big surprise when he found out he’s doing it again this year -- and he’s telling Ellen what to expect.

So looks like Stevie and Rod will be performing separately since they don't have a classic hit together (that I'm aware of)

"Classic hits" seems to confirm that Stevie won't be singing new material.

And "they've" got an exciting announcement... so it looks that Stevie/Rod tour may very well be true.
